À propos de ce logement

Le logement

A historic, rustic, one-bedroom, self-catering 'cottage' just inside Exmoor National Park with its own garden and streamside location. A bucolic, countryside setting ideal for walking, reading and relaxing by the fire...

We are happy to provide the usual comfy towels and linens. There is one long, claw foot bathtub (sorry no shower) ideal for soaking. Food such as cereals, fresh eggs, cheeses, chutneys and hampers/picnics can be arranged. As can suppers.

Please bear in mind the property is hundreds of years old. There is no central heating but radiators are throughout and the wood burner in the living room makes the place very cosy. There is an out of tune piano, library of books, maps and local information at your disposal along with a yoga deck, cottage garden (weeders welcome), picnic table.

There is also an artist's studio available upon request/arrangement.

The Hare & Hounds is
Approximately 2 miles from Williton where the closest shops are.
Closest train station: Taunton (taxis readily available).
The 28 bus runs regularly between Taunton and Williton.

We are situated on the "Coleridge Way"
From Nether Stowey on the Quantock Hills, where Coleridge lived for three years, walk: the quiet and unspoilt northern fringes of the Quantock Hills through the villages of Holford, West Quantoxhead and Bicknoller. The little known Brendon Hills through the villages of Monksilver, Roadwater and Luxborough, across Lype Hill to Wheddon Cross
the remote Exmoor moorland fringes of Dunkery Hill to the woodland village of Horner to reach Porlock, the end of your route, on the spectacular South West Coast Path.

You will travel through a variety of landscapes: heathland, moorland, deciduous & coniferous woodland, farmland, deeply wooded valleys and historic villages with expansive views over to the North Somerset Coast and Wales. Every village has at least one pub to provide you with welcome refreshment. There are also a number of delightful tea rooms and village shops to visit.

The Coleridge Way can be completed over three or four consecutive days, making it ideal for a short break. Stay for a few days and enjoy the high quality bed and breakfast accommodation along the way, all offering a friendly welcome and some providing a baggage transfer service to make your break even more relaxing.

For a longer walking holiday the Coleridge Way links up with the South West Coast Path and the West Somerset Coast Path, enabling you to walk to Lynton or Watchet, both of which have strong links with the Romantic Poets.

Had a lovely stay at Lee's place. She was really welcoming on arrival and the cottage had everything we needed for a 2 night weekend stay. Really liked all the effort they've clearly put into making the cottage such a nice place! Would definitely recommend.

The hosts Tim and Lee were nice and welcoming. The place was clean, warm, specious and full of character, with the piano and real fire as added bonus. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of extra blankets and pillows (not needed for us, as the room was very warm). The kitchen was stocked with plates, mugs, glasses, cutlery, coffee, tea, pasta, oil and flour. There is a fridge with some freezer space, an oven, hob and kettle. No toaster, but you can use the oven grill. The bathroom is nice, big bath with plenty of towels, toilet paper and many nice soapy delights and bath salts. No shower, and although there is a shower attachment, it is more convenient to use the bath on its own. Beautiful surrounds, plenty of garden space for a picnic and bbq. There is much land you can walk on and explore. Great place for a couple or a single person to stay.

We had a lovely break at Tim and Lee's airbnb! We wanted a few days away from the city and a chance to go on some lovely hikes and runs - which is exactly what we got! Each room is so beautiful and amazingly decorated, that bathroom was just amazing! Tim and Lee were also really kind and helpful whenever we had any questions. The walks nearby are so beautiful and we also visited Cleeve Abbey which was a great trip. Would really recommend this airbnb!

I absolutely adored this cottage. My expectations were high already, but still they were exceeded. It's quirky, full of character, spacious, private and beautifully decorated. The garden was sublime. That bed, for whatever reason, also gave me the best 3 sleeps I've had in a very long time. So comfortable, and with a wonderous floral smell drifting in through the open window come morning. Throw in the wood fire and you've got yourself perfection. I'd also like to add that I came here to be a hermit and write alone, and wasn't bothered at all by the hosts. But when I needed to borrow some socks and was seeking a good walking route, she couldn't have been more helpful. Overall, would recommend to the highest degree

Hare & Hounds is beautiful cottage, really perfect for anyone wanting to escape in the countryside. The surrounding walks are incredibly scenic, we would definitely recommend walking the coastal path around Lynmouth. Great hosts who were always available to suggest activities and advise on potential walking routes.

The Hare&Hounds was a fabulously interesting cottage within the beautiful Exmoor national park- we loved everything about the cottage and it was equipped with everything we could need to make the most of our stay as well as being comfortable and spacious- Lee also has an impeccable eye for furnishing the cottage- we were intrigued by just about everything and wanted to stay for much longer than we were able to! Location wise the cottage allows for easy access to all the places we wanted to go for long hikes and we enjoyed some delicious suppers in the surrounding villages - Woods in Dulverton being our firm favourite! Lee was a great host- he had thought of everything, he was friendly and was also very informative when we needed but also great at giving us the space we enjoy as an independent couple. I couldn't recommend the Hare&Hounds enough! Just go!
