Spectacular Big Sky Montana setting for a summer vacation! Vintage cabin on the banks of the Gallatin River where "A River Runs Through It" was filmed. Fly fishing, mountain climbing, white water rafting, only minutes from Yellowstone National Park.

Le logement

Cabin is appointed with vintage works of art, hand hooked and oriental rugs, Ralph Lauren fabrics, highest quality wood frame windows and French doors, all selected by the interior designer who also works with the wife of a recent U.S. President. The center piece of the great room is a spectacular native Montana stone fireplace.

Accès des voyageurs

Guests may access two lovely decks, one right off the kitchen that is perfect for grilling steaks on an outdoor gas grill, and another deck which overlooks the rushing waters of the Gallatin River. There is also a private deck and picnic area 50 yards from the cabin that sits on the Gallatin River. Just out the back door is hiking in the Gallatin National Forest.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

The upstairs has two bedrooms, one is spacious with a king bed. The second is small, with a single bed. There is a large bedroom downstairs with two single beds, which can be put together to form a king if we have advance notice. We are always available by phone to answer any questions.

Autres remarques

We keep our personal belongings in the locked garage but there are two very accessible parking spaces just steps from the front door.

Règlement intérieur

The cabin has a very cozy and relaxed feeling and we would greatly appreciate guests who are respectful of our home.
We love dogs but no pets please and smoking outside the cabin only. By the way, smokers need to be extra careful during the dry summer months not to inadvertently start a fire because the cabin sits in the midst of many gorgeous old evergreen trees.

Great Stay. A little far from Yellowstone, but manageable. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much!

This house is absolutely stunning. The pictures do not do it justice. It was so cozy and we hated to leave it! The location couldn't have been better. We will definitely go back in the spring or summer to take more advantage of the river.

We very much enjoyed staying across from the Gallatin River, and looking at it from the balcony. Although we did not catch any trout there, we were able to barbecue on the deck those we caught down by the bridge. Everything was great. We liked the fact that we were clearly sharing somebody's reside, a place designed to be lived in rather than rented out to strangers. I just polled the other people in our group, and the only problems they could come up with were that they had trouble with the toaster and that the place was a little dark, not too surprising as it was in the woods at the base of a hill. I don't know about the toaster, but maybe some stronger light bulbs would be worth the investment.

We absolutely loved our stay at Rainbow Ranch Cabin... couldn't have asked for a better location or a more charming house! Fly fishing on the river right out front, hiking trails out back, a couple appealing places to eat just a short walk away. Best of all was the the cabin itself—rustic but very refined and stylish, beautifully decorated with antiques, old paintings, and many interesting objects, books, and curiosities. There's a bathroom and a bedroom with two twin beds downstairs. Upstairs is a bathroom with a tub and shower, a very small and very cozy bedroom with a twin bed—perfect for a child—and a spacious and well-appointed master bedroom with a big comfortable bed and river views. The rest of the upstairs is one big open room that includes a kitchen (stocked with lots of helpful basics), dining area, and living room that opens onto a wonderful deck with three adirondack chairs. There's a deck off the kitchen with a barbecue and another deck right on the river, with seating and a picnic table. It's about 10 minutes to Big Sky (grocery store, restaurants, skiing, a bakery, etc) and about an hour to the west entrance of Yellowstone. We're already planning a return trip!

If anything the photos and description don't capture how truly wonderful this cabin and location are. We arrived late at night and had no problem finding the place and getting in the house. As soon as we opened the car door we could hear the rushing sound of the river, and once inside we were pleasantly surprised with how beautifully the house was set up as a true mountain retreat. It was comfortable and plenty big enough for a family of five with a bedroom downstairs for teenagers and a small nook bedroom for our youngest across from the spacious master. We intended to revisit Yellowstone, but ended up spending 4 days rafting, zip lining, climbing and hiking in Big Sky and on the river and extended our trip by another day just to grill on the deck and read by the river. Even with the extra day we ran out of time to explore everything we wanted to see and do in the area, and plan to go back. This house was charming and peaceful, on the river, off the road and tucked at the end of a small neighborhood. I can't say enough about what a great experience this was especially as our first Airbnb experience.
