The room is very old, I mean the bed, desk, wardrobe and the other things are very old and the room is so dark. The light is not enough to do anything and it is red because of the chandelier. It is very distracting. You can just sleep there. The bookshelf and wardrobe are shaking…

Why didn’t you talk to me about how you felt, you came over very happy during the time you stayed with me, and full of smiles, but your only concern was if you could live with the dog and your allergies. Life could have been a lot simpler if you had been honest and communicated with me, but you never said a word!!! You was obviously very annoyed I did not give you a full refund after pestering me, which you said it was my right to keep. 1. There are two lights in the bedroom, a main light switch and if you had said I could have changed it, there is also a table lamp which is very bright which most people use for their studies. The desk is next to the window giving sufficient light anyway, you could have pulled over the nets to get more light if you wanted, you are the first person to ever complain how dark this room is. I’m quite shocked at how nothing was right for you from the word go, but you forgot to mention I gave it to you at a very cheap price as it was supposed to be for three months. You forgot to let people know because you had booked the room for a long time, other people did not have the opportunity to book, penalising me. You saw all the pictures of the house displayed on Airbnb including the bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and the outside of the house, and I say in my description this is a TOWN house in a conservation area, so before a person books they should have an idea of the size of what a town house is in London or other cities in the UK for that matter! I’m surprised you never did your research. Your problem was you was desperate to book the room, because I was the only host who offered to let your wife and baby stay in my house from time to time at no extra cost, whereas other hosts flatly said NO! I was even prepared to go the extra mile and buy a fold-up bed for your wife at my expense. Being more than kind to you has backfired with a list of complaints on your part. It appears you just needed an address once you had your visa to get into the country. In fact why did you book a single room when your wife would be visiting, when a double room would have been more suitable. I find the way you have worked this out has been very twisted and messy. In fact you was at another host for two weeks in the vicinity, why didn’t you think to come and have a look at the room, then you would have been in your right to cancel and find something more suitable, and cause me less grief, stress and extra work in order to make your life comfortable. 2. I did mention to you that I was going to change the bookshelf so why did you have to bring that up, as my intention was to change it that week, as I had no time before. 3. You told me you would not be using the kitchen so how could you criticize it when you had not even used it, only taking seconds to get things out of the fridge. By the way this is not an old kitchen but was refurbished just a few years ago. Although the kitchen is narrow, it is very compact and has everything that a person needs. Most guests are only in the kitchen a short time, either to heat something up in the oven, or microwave. They are too busy to cook as most are students. 4. There is a custom sized desk in the bedroom with an office chair, so why are you saying there is no desk in the bedroom, you can see that on my picture on the Airbnb listing. Other guests have been happy to use if they wanted to have their meals there or to use the dining table. You saw there was a dining room table in the living room, why didnt you eat there, or ask me? Again communication is the key which I’m surprised with the work you do you very much lack. I have another guest in my other room at the moment, and they are quite happy to eat in their bedroom, as they can study at the same time, even though I offered them the dining table to eat their meals on. You are making a mountain out of a molehill. 5. The wardrobe is not shaking, the mirror doors are on runners and one must have common sense to open the doors gently due to their weight because they are mirror doors. 6. You saw the size of the bathroom, and there was room for your shampoo etc to put on the window shelf. There is a towel rail under the bathroom sink and also behind the door, and another one for a single towel, again if you had asked me I would have made room for your towel. Most people leave their bathroom essentials in the bathroom, the present student have their essentials in the bathroom, so again if you needed help lack of communication appears to be a serious problem with you. I have had really big people stay at my home, and they have never had problems getting in and out of the shower. That is nonsense I have never heard such crazy talk that it is hard to get in and out of the shower, before considering you are a very slim build. It is a regular bathroom so I dont know what you are used to. Again it is small and compact, and clean, and by the way it was recently refurbished. 5. This is new to me about all the sounds you mention, I’m not too sure what you mean by that, again you are the only one that has ever brought this up? 6. How could the room be damp when it was on the first floor, with soaring temperatures of constantly 30 degrees for weeks, and with the windows wide open. Again I have never had anyone else bring up the room smelling of damp. If that was the case, I would have definitely dealt with a damp problem. 7. I see you have tried to list as many complaints as you possibly can without any appreciation of how more than fair I have been to you when I did not need to refund you more than half, plus I had given you an extra refund in May when you booked the room as an extra bonus for booking the whole three months, but I never asked for any of that back. I gave you the room at a very cheap price and you kept pressing me for a full refund, even though you knew the Airbnb rules that you was not entitled to that. The fact that you never even thanked me for the refund in your review I gave you, with all the stress you put me through before arriving over your so-called allergies, says a lot about the kind of person you are, which quite frankly I do not want under my roof. 8. I bent over backwards to spend a lot of time to make your stay as comfortable as possible, even painting the room, dealing with the carpets etc etc. 9. By the way I always make a point of asking people how they slept, and not one guest has said they could not sleep well, but said they had a very deep sleep in a quiet area! You never take into consideration the hot weather is not easy for anyone to sleep in which has nothing to do with the room! 10. You encourage people to find a “modern house” as you call it in London, if you can find them you have to pay astronomical rent too. If you had the money why didn’t you do that in the first place? I have had many guests stay in my rooms, most with excellent reviews, and some have kept in touch, some have come back to stay a second time and a person who booked on Airbnb three years ago wants to book the room a second time for next year! So 99% of my guests have been very happy with their stay, and with the price, but unfortunately you will always get a difficult person who you could never please no matter what you do for them. That person unfortunately is you which I’ve had to cross. A person who did a recent review said my house was very beautiful, and the area too!

I booked late as I was travelling and arrived later than check in time but Shirley waited up to let me in. She was very welcoming and easy to communicate with. Nice area also I would recommend and stay again myself.

I am English and enjoy reading and printing and have travelled a lot, one of my favourite holidays was Crete and Israel. Egypt was very different and a good place for the sun. Its always a pleasure to meet new people from all over the world and how they live.
