Welcome to AUSSIE SPIRIT our home afloat, cosy & secure. The BLUE CABIN includes comfy double bed & shared bathroom. RELAX on the top deck with a cool drink or enjoy marina restaurants, great water views, fishing, seaside walks & beach. It's so EASY!
AUSSIE SPIRIT, is a 15 metre cathedral steel hull vessel, privately owned by Captain Col and Marj who live onboard. The BLUE CABIN is on the lower deck and provides a comfy double bed, small bench (can be used as a desk or luggage rack), hanging space, fan and heater. Curtains on doorways and windows provide privacy while allowing a cool breeze in warmer weather. The bathroom includes shower and toilet and is shared with your host. The TOP DECK has plenty of room for eating, drinking, relaxing and watching life go by.
Accès des voyageurs
Your host will greet you at the marina entrance and escort you to Aussie Spirit (trolly provided for your luggage). Access to the Blue Cabin is from the stern (back deck), through the dinning room & galley, down some steps to the lower deck and along a short passage were the ceiling is a little low (if you're over 1.8m tall you might have to watch your head). Then you can relax and unwind on the top deck (up a ladder at the stern) with a cuppa or cool drink. Or hang a fishing rod over the side if you're a keen fisho (please bring your own bait). Cups, glasses and water is provided in your cabin. There's usually some space in the fridge. Meals and access to the galley are negotiable (but there's only room for one person at a time). The bathroom onboard is shared or you may wish to access the marina amenities.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
Your host lives onboard and is happy to provide you with information about the Mackay area. If you have any special requirements please discuss these with your host. If you wish to have some personal space and privacy, that's ok, just let your host know. But remember it is a boat, so space if fairly limited.
Staying onboard a vessel in the Marina Village means you are bound by a number of bylaws in place for the safety and wellbeing of all marina users. Please be respectful of everyone on the marina and if you are unsure of anything please check with your host. Fishing is only allowed from the boat and not on the marina walkways. If you find the bathroom onboard not to your liking, you can access the Marina amenities block any time of day.
Aussie Spirit isn't a grand hotel but it is a great lifestyle. Guests are asked to be tidy, fairly quiet and respectful of their hosts privacy. No running, rioting or loud music is allowed on board. Non-smokers preferred but smoking is allowed outside the vessel. Enjoy the marina environment, take-in the surroundings and watch life go by.

I live on a houseboat, Aussie Spirit, with my partner and soulmate Captain Col. So, anywhere we float along the Queensland coast is home. Occasionally we travel on land seeing new places and enjoy meeting people from different cultures. Col did two world tours in the Australian navy, and I have lived in China, travelled to Japan a couple of times and did the Europe trip back in my 20's.
As a keen photographer and retired gallery director, I enjoy making art, looking at art and meeting artists. Creating imagery using found objects, photography, wood and metal smithing assemblage methods keeps me entertained (time permitting). My reading matter is usually a non-fiction 'learn something interesting' type of book and occasionally we watch a good documentary /movie (favourite movie - Departures). I'm also an x-art teacher, in particular photography, glass techniques, silversmithing, design and mixed media. So happy to give people some 'snappy' tips.
Food is a biggie in our life - you can't live well if you don't have good health. As head chef on Aussie Spirit, I use raw, nutritious (organic where possible) to prepare meals that sometimes even taste good! Speciality is fermenting (like sauerkraut & raw pickles) and sweet delicacies with no processed sugar (but they don't last very long when Captain Col finds them). We both enjoy relaxing at Four Bells (four o'clock) on the upper deck with a cold bubbly (for me) and a smooth red (for him). And occasionally eat out at the Thai, Italian or seafood restaurant nearby.
Our 50 foot houseboat isn't a plush hotel, but it sure is a good lifestyle ("if you don't weaken" as the Captain says! LOL). Airbnb is a good opportunity to invite people into our home and share some of what we enjoy. Welcome to our home on the water and look forward to meeting you.
