Description
Description

A private bedroom with a shared bathroom in the quiet home of a studio artist and his wife.

Our cedar home overlooks the beautiful Inside Passage. We can watch cruise ships, ferries, floatplanes, pleasure craft of all sizes, and jets come and go. The water is ever-changing, and we never grow tired of gazing at it.

The house is 10 miles North of Ketchikan, and the borough bus stops about 1/2 mile from the house. Bus rides are $1 for adults or $2 for an all-day pass. (Totem Bight State Park is where the bus stop is located.) The road we live on is a one-mile loop and ideal for leisurely strolls. There is also a walking path along the highway for several miles that is enjoyed by people of all ages. There is a convenience store a short distance from the house and a restaurant/lounge about 1 mile away.

Our master bedroom and bath are upstairs along with my husband's art studio. Downstairs are the 2 bedrooms and bathroom that are available for your short-term stay. One room has a double-sized waterbed; the other, a queen-sized bed. A small refrigerator is available for you, and you are welcome to use our kitchen while staying with us.

We will do whatever we can to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable.

A small refrigerator and coffee maker are in one of the bedrooms for your use. You are also welcome to use our kitchen.

Since we are about 10 miles out of town, it is most convenient for guests with cars. The bus goes by within about 1/2 mile, but it can be a strenuous walk with luggage. Taxis are quite expensive this far out of town.

The bedroom has a queen-sized bed.

No smoking is allowed in the house, but you are welcome to smoke outside. We appreciate guests returning to the house before midnight. Since Bill is a studio artist, we try to keep our home serene and conducive to creative work.

We are empty-nesters on the move to retirement. My husband is a self-employed studio artist who works from home. I work full-time for the State of Alaska Division of Public Assistance.

He has lived in Alaska for almost 50 years, and I'm a newcomer (only 30 years here). Bill put himself through art school in Seattle by working as a logger in the summers, and he loves to talk about "the good old days".

We have a miniature long-haired dachshund who loves people, and an outside cat who does, too.
