Another view of the king-sized bedLet your kids enjoy their own room with books and toys for the under-12 crowd. The kids' bunk bed is from Ikea - the bottom mattress is on the floor so no one gets hurt when they roll out.

We live on a quiet street with a diverse set of neighbors - from folks like us with young children to Italian and Chinese multi-generational families who have lived on the block for decades. You can't really get more 'North Beach' than this;)

With a combined living/dining area and well-stocked gourmet kitchen, our home is a great place to recharge your batteries.

You’ll enjoy:
+ 50" TV with Cable (All major broadcast channels, CNN, TNT, Disney, etc but not HBO), Netflix and Chromecast
+ Wireless, high-speed internet connection
+ On-site and free washer/dryer
+ Well-stocked kitchen with 5-burner gas stove/ oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven and full-sized refrigerator
+ A range of cooking supplies including french press coffee maker, coffee grinder, juicer, blender, food processor, rice cooker, crock pot
+ A bathroom with a rainforest shower over bathtub
+ Central heating and other utilities included

The apartment has a combined kitchen/ dining/ living area and 2 bedrooms that are connected with sliding (pocket doors). Our style is ‘no fuss’ and is perfect for families. Sleeping arrangements include a king-sized bed and a kids' bunk bed (2 regular twins). We have 1 full bath with a shower over the bathtub.

Our home is also very kid-friendly with furniture that is kid-tested. We have a selection of books and toys for boys and girls under 12.

Parking is difficult in North Beach! You can park in our dedicated space on the street in front of our home but we suggest that you don't even bring a car. Our location is great for walking, public transportation, and car sharing. If you need a car for a day or so, you can also walk 4 blocks to Fisherman's Wharf and get one from the major car rental agencies there (Hertz, Avis, etc).

+ We provide all sheets and blankets with a couple of extra sets
+ The king-sized mattress was purchased from Keetsa, an organic mattress company ~ 4 years ago. It comfortably sleeps 2 adults and 1 child.
+ The kids' bunk bed is the 'Ikea Kura reversible bed.' The beds are standard twins.
+ We have an extra queen-sized feather bed and quilts to create a bed for someone on the floor.
+ Either bedrooms have space for a travel crib.
+ The couch is not a pull-out sleep sofa but we have had adults sleep on it before and say it was comfortable enough for a night or two.

Price includes a cleaning service after check-out, free washer/dryer, Cable TV, WIFI, parking, all utilities.

Children 5 and under do not count as an extra guest.

The best way to think about staying at our home is like staying at the home of friends who are out of town. This is our primary residence i.e. we're not a professional vacation rental. We're a family that is fortunate to travel 4-5 weeks per year. We understand about traveling on a budget with kids and want you and your family to enjoy our neighborhood and San Francisco as much as we do.

Our home is good for families who are friendly, respectful and easygoing. We won't be here when you arrive but have made it as convenient and self-serve for you as possible. We can answer any questions before you arrive and one of our neighbors can help with anything on-site (since we'll be off on our own adventure).

We love where we live and we know you will too! Thanks for your interest, The MacPhees

You'll have access to two bedrooms, a combined living/dining room, the kitchen and 1 full bathroom. You will also have access to a free parking spot in front of our home plus the washer/dryer in our garage.

Check-in time is 3pm; check-out time is 11AM. Once your reservation is confirmed, we'll send you a combination for a key safe/ lockbox (see last photo) that you will use to get your house keys upon arrival.

Since this is our primary home, we will not be present when you arrive or during your stay. For any issues, our neighbor will help you as your in-person host (as we will be traveling ourselves). We are generally available by phone or email but may take up to a day to reply (since we are on vacation ourselves).

North Beach is a wonderful neighborhood chock full of cafes and restaurants. Our home is convenient to major tourist attractions and near playgrounds for your kids.

+ The Mason-Powell cable car line runs by the end of our street.
+ DIscover the nooks and crannies of Fisherman's Wharf/ Pier 39, Coit Tower/ Telegraph Hill, Chinatown, North Beach and Russian Hill commercial districts - all within strolling distance.
+ Easily visit other parts of the city like Union Square, Downtown/ the Financial District, Golden Gate park, the waterfront/ Embarcadero and the ballpark.
+ Explore Marin, Sonoma, Napa and other parts of the Bay Area with fast access to bridges and highways.
+ Get your coffee and Airbnb guide from Caffe Sapore, just 1.5 blocks away and owned by good friends and neighbors.

It's counter-intuitive but true: North Beach is a great place for kids of all ages. There's so much to do in the neighborhood and nearby.

[Free] Our kids love North Beach Pool and the playgrounds at Michelangelo, Washington Sq and Joe DiMaggio. The local library often offers story time, puppet shows and other activities. If it's hot out, put on your bathing suits and head to Aquatic Park or Crissy Field for a splash in the Bay.

[Nearby] Pier 39 is very touristy but is still a nice place to see the sea lions, take a stroll with awesome views and grab an ice cream at Ben & Jerry's. The Aquarium at Pier 39 is good for a short visit and has tide pools where you can 'pet' the animals. The Exploratorium is a must-see, hands-on science museum within 1.5 miles (walking distance for older kids).

We're happy to share our recommendations of favorite places or feel free to see what we've already reviewed below on Yelp:

Public transportation, car-sharing and car rental agencies are all within easy reach: MUNI (city buses & trams), BART (to the East Bay and SFO) and CalTrain (to Palo Alto, San Jose and the Peninsula), and ZipCar, City CarShare or Avis, Hertz, Enterprise, etc.

Our cats will not be here the Summer of 2017 but our home would not be good for anyone with cat allergies.

Hosts were great. Helpful with little goodies and bathroom supplies we didnt think of. Even sent back a charger cord we left by mistake. Cats were great too.

We just stayed 4 days at the Macphee residence and it was wonderful! The house is really comfy and we felt right at home! We especially enjoyed the fact that the place is so child friendly with bunk beds and toys! My daughters loved it! We also really appreciated the nice high pressured shower after a long day of visit! The location is sensational. 5 minutes walk from fisherman wharf but in a quite neighbourhood with all you need (shop, coffee shop, playground..) nearby! Serena, the host, made us feel right at home! We are strongly recommending this place and would definitely go back if we were to return to SFO!

The MacPhee's home was a perfect place for our family. It felt like staying in an old friend's home who happened to be out of town. If you are looking for a sterile hotel experience, this isn't for you. If you want a warm place where you can relax, make a meal, walk out the door to catch a cable car or down the block to amazing Italian restaurant (or two), this is it! The neighbor is fun, and so close to everywhere we wanted to go. My husband was at a conference at the Moscone Center, and had an easy Uber ride there. The kids and I walked, took the cable car or bus everywhere else. Tourist tip: get a MUNI pass (1-7 day increments), and you'll have unlimited rides on cable cars, buses, trolleys, etc. You truly do not need your car. My kids are older than the MacPhee's, but still loved the place. Serena was very helpful and responsive to all my questions. We would love to come back and stay in their home again.

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home, as it was very convenient, comfortable, and perfectly located for our visit to San Francisco. We could walk or cable car to where we wanted to go, including to coffee shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions. Our kids loved having the cats around and staying in a kids bedroom.

Lovely spacious home, the 4 of us fitted comfortable here. Clean and light. Great location for Pier 39 and Fishermans wharf with a Trader Joes nearby. Public transport is excellent and there are stops for all the various modes of transport within few mins walk. You can hear the upstairs neighbour moving around quite a lot but this wasn't really a problem for us. Communication with host was great and the house keepers were friendly when we were a bit early arriving and a bit late leaving.

We're a young family who love our neighborhood and love to travel. We have lived in North Beach for more than 15 years and can share with your our favorite haunts and places to go. Mom, Serena, is originally from Bangkok by way of Boston and Dad, Aaron, is born-and-bred San Francisco Bay Area. Serena is a tech marketer while Aaron is an avid mountain biker and gourmand. Kids are 10 and 7 and know all the best places to get candy and ice cream.

We have both hosted guests on Airbnb and been hosted.

We love adventure, good food and good company. If you're staying in our home, it means we're out on another adventure - thanks for helping make that happen!
