The apartment is owned by artist Charlotta Janssen and the ground floor restaurant welcomes you with a North American Gastropub themed menu (open 7 days a week), where you can enjoy "green devils" as well as a garbanzo or bison burger ...
For first time visitors we have information on what to do. Venues within walking distance:
The Brooklyn Academy of Music showing contemporary art house films, theater and music
The recently opened Barclay's Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets
Fort Greene Park (farmers market open on Saturdays)
The Brooklyn Flea Saturdays
It is far easier (and cheaper) to get here from LaGuardia or JFK than to get from these airports to Manhattan and car services are easily accessed on the street or by phone.

NY Citi Bike is a great way to get around - Fort Greene and Brooklyn are part of this program. Subways are depending on the station a 10-15 min walk, but run express into the city with the next stop being Chinatown.

I am a Brooklyn Painter / Restauranteur, a transplant from Berlin (it's a long story) and now happily rooted in between Fort Greene, Brooklyn and Hudson NY. I cannot live without my better half, good people, canvases, paints and brushes. My favorite travel destinations are India, Thailand and China. It's more how you travel than where you travel to - a little off the beaten path, not overdone luxury apart from space and sun. My favorite is also working in unfamiliar environments - as a visual artist that is my favorite kind of drug - surroundings out of the ordinary and a bit off the beaten path. I guess my life motto is: give what you can, take what you need.
