Beaufort is one of the most charming towns in the South & you will love visiting here with all it has to offer- great beaches, restaurants, boating. My house is removed from the tourist area but very convenient to it all.

Your room is very attractive & light filled with a comfortable queen sized bed. My house is traditional with an English feel. Lots of art, accessories & personality. I am definitely not a minimalist!. Your bath with a tub/shower combo has a skylight & is directly across the hall. It does share with my single bedroom when that is booked. I do have an extra twin bed in my bonus/family room upstairs if you need that for a child- just inquire.
You are within a mile of Beaufort's wonderful waterfront & historic district and walking or biking distance to the library, grocery & drug stores. I have a rocking chair front porch that you can sit on & enjoy glimpses of the marsh or my flower filled garden. The neighborhood pool is open in the summer one block away. Driveway parking, a LCD TV in your room, & everything you need to enjoy a visit to the beautiful Crystal Coast with its wonderful beaches, friendly people & many other attractions.
This would be a great place for a couple or single woman to stay on business or vacation. Beaufort is the third oldest town in NC - we just celebrated our 300th anniversary! It was the home of Blackbeard & there is continuing evacuation of his ship, the "Queen Anne's Revenge". There are wonderful independent restaurants & shops on Front Street & you could just people watch for hours. Every day new boats come in & there's a great boardwalk for strolling. The Maritime Museum is free & very interesting. The closest beach is on Radio Island, about 2 miles away. It has views of the Beaufort Inlet from downtown to out to sea past Fort Macon.
When you cross the bridge to Morehead City there are more great restaurants as well as all the chain stores. Most of the charter fishing boats leave from here to fish in the nearby Gulf Stream. Then go across another bridge to Atlantic Beach (about 5 miles from my house) & you will find Fort Macon, the most visited NC state park, at the east end of the island. To the west is the Aquarium & miles & miles of beach, more shopping restaurants, movie theaters, & one beach town after another, ending in Emerald Isle.
"Down East" of Beaufort, are quaint fishing villages with their own history & dialect. At the end is Cedar Island, where the ferry can take you to Ocracoke & up the rest of the Outer Banks.
This area is known all over as less crowded than other coastal resorts with many pluses, such as the wild horses that you can see from Front Street just across Taylor's Creek, Or take a short ferry ride to Shackleford Banks to see more horses on an uninhabited island. Cape Lookout is our local lighthouse- you can see its beam from the land, but it's great to go across on a boat & climb it or cross over to the ocean side of the National Seashore where you can imagine what it was like when the first settlers came to this area 400 years ago. Our historic district is as fine as anywhere & the Historic Association gives tours on its English double decker bus. Diving is another attraction- we have so many shipwrecks offshore. This is a boater's paradise- I've never been to a place where boating was more popular. And of course, there's nothing finer than just relaxing in the sun & cooling off with a refreshing dip in the ocean.
There is a private airport here & the nearest commercial one is New Bern, about 45 minutes away & a great place for a day trip. You will need a car to do much- we are lacking in public transport. You may use my 2 bikes- a man's & a woman's - as long as the tires aren't flat from lack of air! If you need extra space- have a child or 2 people who want to each have their own room- I have a twin room also & will give a special price for booking the 2.

Accès des voyageurs

You can use the washer/dryer if you ask 1st- just need to show you a few things. Same with the kitchen. I have a great front porch with a swing & rocking chairs as well as a bistro table to use whenever you like.

I have enjoyed meeting all my guests. I'm a friendly person & will enjoy talking to you if you'd like, but if you're busy that's fine too.

Autres remarques

Beaufort is one of the nicest coastal spots in the South- if you haven't been here, try us! Please don't stay here if you are allergic or on't like cats, since I have 1. I am very careful about the smells- the litter box is in the garage- but she is very friendly & think everyone comes to visit her!

I am a friendly & reasonable person, but expect respect for my property. If you're not sure of something, please ask. You may have coffee in the morning - let me know so I'll fix extra- if you need to use the kitchen otherwise please check with me. You are welcome to sit on the inside sun porch or outside front porch when you like. Please do not have other people over & make sure the house is locked when you leave. I expect reasonable quiet at all times & especially between 9 pm & 9 am. I have a friendly cat, so if you are allergic or don't like them, this isn't the place for you. As you may know, cats rule a house! Smoking is only allowed on the front porch. If you have any weapons, they must stay in your locked vehicle. No drunk or rude behavior will be tolerated. Otherwise if you're a normal considerate person we will get along fine & you'll have a great time! Thank you!

Quiet neighborhood. Room was as pictured. Shared bathroom was right outside of door and was no problem. Enjoyed the cat. Coffee available in the morning.

Pros: 1) The host was a nice person. She offered to clean out a couple of drawers for our clothes since the only place to hang clothes was on the back of a door. She offered the use of bikes, beach chairs, and beach towels. She offered a shelf in her refrigerator for our use. 2) The home was located in a quiet, small cul-de-sac neighborhood. 3) The home was conveniently located to Beaufort and to places of local interest. 4) The downstairs room was directly across from the small bath shared between downstairs and upstairs guests. (We were the only guests during our stay, and the host had her own bathroom.) Cons: 1. The hamper we were requested to use for our towels was full. 2. There was very little space available for belongings for a two-week stay in the room and in the bathroom. 3. The main concern was the level of cleanliness/sanitation. a. While we were expecting a pet cat, we were surprised that the cat was allowed everywhere. My husband and I have owned cats, but none were allowed to roam freely as this one did on kitchen counters and on the kitchen table. Cat hair on the kitchen table was not removed during our two-night stay. The cat hair and the sight of a cat on the kitchen table washing its private parts discouraged us from using the table. b. There was grime in the tub/shower area. The host was not there when I took my shower, so I had to clean the shower prior to using it. c. While the Airbnb pictures of the room accurately portrayed the room, the many decorations inhibited a thorough cleaning of the room as evidenced by the amount of dust when an item was moved in the bedroom. The other public rooms of the house as well as the kitchen counters were full of items. d. Roaches were observed in the kitchen. We had booked a two-week stay to be with family at the beach. Due to the issue of sanitation, we left the morning of the second night, ruining our vacation. However, Airbnb had excellent customer service to handle our dilemma when I called. They supported our request to cancel the remaining 12 nights. They checked other available Airbnb options in the area, but none were close to our location. They were prompt and very professional in their assistance. Based on our experience, we were shocked by the number of positive reviews from other guests.

Réponse de Jane :
I am sorry you weren't satisfied. I would liked for you to have spoken to me directly about any concerns, since I didn't know you were unhappy. When someone checks out without my prior knowledge I can't rectify any concerns they may have had. I make it clear that I have a cat and she does roam where she wants to. I tell guests to keep their door closed if they don't want her in their rooms. I had bleached and scrubbed the tub a couple of days before your visit so I'm surprised you felt it wasn't clean enough. The only towels in the hamper the day you left were the ones you had used. I point out that I am not a minimalist- I'm not a hotel either, but I do try my best to make my guests happy. I had not seen bugs but I did spray after you left to be on the safe side. Again, I'm very sorry you weren't satisfied, but I am glad the I could work with Airbnb and get you a refund.

Our stay with Jane was wonderful! We had everything we needed and she went above and beyond to make sure our stay was excellent. We would highly recommend staying here. Side note: She does have a cat, but I am allergic to cats and didn't have a problem, it stays out of the room.
