  • Our stay here was great! We were in town for two weeks for work and staying here made our down time very relaxing and comfortable! Debbie and Jon were very welcoming, knowledgeable about the area, and communication was always great if we needed anything. The house was immaculate and stocked with necessities in case we needed them. I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend this house to anyone staying in Louisville!

    Dave2015-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house was nice. Exactly as the pictures had shown. Well maintained and easy to reach. We've been to Louisville on more than one occasion and have used airbnb previous and I would have to say this is our favorite home by far. We would recommend others to stay here!

  • Absolutely fantastic spot! I can't imagine a better place to stay in Louisville. Perfectly located and beautifully restored - definitely stay here.

  • A wonderful charming stay! We enjoyed everything about it!

    Benjamin2016-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Traveled with two co-workers for a business trip. It is a very accommodating, comfortable, and extremely clean place, with plenty of room for three of us. It was an ideal setting for us to collectively plan and visit, but separated enough for us to have our own space. Jonathan and Debbie were both quick to respond, and as Jonathan greeted us upon arrival, was very helpful in recommending food/drink locations, as well as giving us the lay of the land. Unfortunately, time restrictions prevented us from having time to enjoy the beautiful courtyard in front of the house, but I hope to remedy that on my next trip to Louisville. Thank you, again, to Jonathan and Debbie!

    Old Louisville Carriage House
    126 commentaires
Our Carriage House is warm and inviting to guests from all over the world. We are located close to downtown, Central Park, University of Louisville and the Bardstown Road corridor. There are so many unique shops, restaurants, bars, and places to visit close by. The Carriage House has just undergone a complete renovation from top to bottom, we hope you love it as much as we do!
You will understand the uniqueness of the space the minute you walk in the front door. Our 100 year old former carriage shop is perfectly imperfect! The concrete foundation and super high ceiling lead you up a few steps into a modern, full sized kitchen with 4-burner gas stove/oven and full size refrigerator/freezer for our longer stay guests. The fully refinished hardwoods and glass block window provide for a homey but modern feel. As a longtime chef and restauranteur, I understand the desire for some to cook, even when they get away, so we have tried to stock our kitchen accordingly. But should you require and special kitchen items, just ask us ahead of time, chances are I have it for you to use! You will love how the kitchen flows into the main living space, with 16 foot tin ceiling; it's the perfect mesh of industrial and new. The living room has a brand new leather sleeper sofa that is ready to accommodate extra guests or kids traveling with their parents. We provided a new, flat screen 40 inch TV, but with so much to do around Louisville, you may not have time to turn it on. The master is bright and airy, with a regal queen sized bed and white sheer curtains that is, well, fit for a queen! The "water closet" is separate from the shower and tub area for extra privacy! Speaking of the shower, did we mention that it is a walk-in, all tile, dual head shower? Should you feel like relaxing and winding down your day with a bath, there is a refinished, original, claw foot tub to soak in. This thing is huge! Looking for another way to unwind? Well, stroll down the hall to our "Book Nook." We have two comfortable leather reading chairs and an entire bookshelf of classics and modern titles to chose from. From the book nook, you have access to our shared courtyard. It is there that you may be greeted by the two real masters of the property, Bronx and Manhattan. Bronx is our special dog who just turned 10 but it still going strong. He survived a cancer scare a few years ago, and had his lower jaw removed, but as you will see, he is the happiest dog I have ever known. Manhattan, or Hattie, is the newest addition to our family of rescues. She is soft and gray, but oh so full of life. If you are a dog person, please come out and meet them; if not, that's okay too. Please note that although we are dog people, we cannot allow pets in the carriage house. This if for your pets safety and ours. We don't even let our own dogs in there! Our courtyard has a porch swing and gas grill, although with the changing of weather, there are leaves falling every day, so it is a very rustic space right now, but you are welcome to stroll around. Please note that we have a strict no smoking policy inside the carriage house. You are welcome to smoke on the deck, but please extinguish and dispose of of butts. You might hear a few plans land, trains chug by, church bells or even an occasional chu-chu train. You’re downtown, it’s urban, seriously. soak it in. We have added blackout curtains for the three window on the sleeping side and added vertical blinds over the super cool glass bock windows. There is parking immediately in front of the entrance that is almost always (99% of time) for our guests and it is free at all times. There are never more than a handful of cars on the street here, so parking is always available.
There are so many great restaurants and bars nearby. Churchill Downs, 4th Street Live and University of Louisville are a short Uber or Lyft away. Many local spots are walking distance, including Central Park. Always stick to roads and be aware of your surroundings.
  • We had a nice stay at Doug and Amanda's. Their renovated carriage house is modern and fun, with a lot of space. There were a couple of kinks to work out since we were the first guests to stay here, but Doug and Amanda were very responsive and resolved these issues right away. As the description notes, the space does get a little cold. The bed was cozy, but I'm not sure I would stay here in fall/winter again.

    Perry2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • The carriage house was even better than the pictures made it seem. It was cozy yet luxurious, and we never wanted to leave! Doug and Amanda were great hosts from their quick responses to personalized touches that made check-in a breeze. Everything was explained in great detail, and their house/neighborhood manual (with emergency food + beer delivery options nearby!) made our stay in Louisville top notch

Rose was a total pro - had great suggestions for places to eat, a full selection of coffee and water, and was friendly and prompt in all of her responses. We had a wonderful stay and will absolutely be going back!

Visitors came from all over the world to see Thomas Edison and his light bulb. This home was built for the Southern Exposition and all of the old mansions from Kentucky Avenue south on 3rd and 4th Streets. Take a walk around the area and imagine the horse and buggies driven on the streets in the 1880s past these beautiful homes. This home was turned into two condos in 1992. Located on a busy street with downtown traffic noise.
  • I hesitate to write a raving review because Myrna and her place are SO SPECTACULAR - I don't want to be excluded from being able to book again next year! We attend a conference, this was our third year with Myrna, and we hope she will have us again next. So, please DO BOOK, except on the dates I need at the end of Sept! :)

    Winn2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • I use ANBN a lot. All over the world. With Myrna, in the top3 fer-sure! I only had to remember to manually lock the door on departure... loved everything everything... watched the blood red moon eclipse from the deck... it's like $5 Uber from downtown... location could not be better and walk the 1 block for an amazing burger! I Shall Return!

    Winn2015-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The home was just as described and fit the 6 of us perfectly. Super close to getting downtown and on the road, and Ubers were always less than 5 minutes away.

    Chris2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We used Myrna's home to prep for a wedding. The bridesmaids and bride had hair and makeup done here, and used the space for photography on wedding day. It was perfect, had lots of natural light, and was clean and well maintained. Only downside was the bright street lights coming into the bedrooms in the evening - darker shades would have been helpful. Luckily everyone was so worn out from the wedding events that sleep was inevitable!

    Lauren2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The space was beautiful and in great shape. We were able to book last minute and get in no problem. Myrna was well organized and responsive. Highly recommended. -Aaron

Welcome to Old Louisville! Old Louisville is a historic district and neighborhood in central Louisville, KY. It is the third largest such district in the United States, and the largest preservation district featuring almost entirely Victorian architecture. It is also unique in that a majority of its structures are made of brick, and the neighborhood contains the highest concentration of residential homes with stained glass windows in the U.S.

  • Our stay at Laurie's was only one night but I wish it could have been longer! It was easy to find and Laurie's entry instructions were clear and concise. The apartment was very private, clean, and so beautiful. There was so much space, too! She even thought of nice touches like bottled water, coffee, and area attraction pamphlets provided. The next time we plan to pop down to Louisville, I definitely plan on staying at Laurie's again.

    Kara2016-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Laurie's place was so comfortable & spacious. If I'm ever back in Louisville for work or pleasure, I'll be staying there again!

    Rebecca2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience with Laurie. Her home incredibly quaint and beautiful. Laurie couldn't have been more accommodating. We had a few snags in our travel plans, and Laurie was more than happy to modify the plan to fit our needs. The kitchen was stocked with all of our needs, and the space was immaculate. I only wish our trip had been longer so we could have spent more time there.

    Nora2015-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is great and Laurie was awesome with communication. She was flexible with the check in and answered questions promptly. Great first experience!

  • Laurie and Jim welcomed us upon our arrival and introduced us to their dogs who were also friendly. They provided respectful privacy yet were still accessible via text and responded quickly. The private entrance to the third floor (some steep stairs!) was lit well enough for us to navigate without issue at night. There is a table with plenty of recommendations for food, brochures on local attractions, and made it easy for us to plan our days. The area was clean, with coffee and kitchen available. The beds were so comfy! I'd absolutely recommend st t Laurie and Jim's place and we'd stay again on our next visit. Thanks again for everything!

    jamie2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The unit was very clean and there was plenty of street parking.

  • Laurie responded very quickly to my stay request and was very warm and helpful throughout. When I needed an ironing board she very quickly told me about one in a closet in the house which was a lifesaver. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to meet Laurie in person because she was out that night but everything went very smoothly because she was so on top of it.

We own two full , hosted b&b's in the neighborhood. This could be one, but we don't live here and don't provide breakfast here. We do provide Kentucky hospitality.
Historic Preservation District. Beautiful to walk.
  • Our stay at Herb's place went about as expected. We liked the location (in a bit of a dead neighborhood but close to the historical society where we were working), the size of the room (very spacious) and the access to the kitchen. Our main issue was cleanliness. There are often a number of people staying in the house at once. When I arrived, there was moldy coffee in the coffeemaker, and grease all over the countertops, and the floor---both in the kitchen/dining area and in our bedroom---was very dirty, so much so that I felt uncomfortable walking barefoot on it. Since so many people are sharing the house, it might be worth getting a professional cleaner in on weekends, even if just to vacuum the floors and wipe down the surfaces in the kitchen. We were able to make it work nonetheless, but I can't imagine someone like, say, my mom being okay with it. Herb himself was a lovely, hospitable, accommodating guy.

    Lauren2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • An Unforgettable experience. Herb was such a wonderful host. I am not an easy person to please by any means, but Herb is by far the most patient. A true gentleman, and a man of his word. When i originally inquired with Herb he answered all of my MANY questions. Not only was this my very first time traveling to Louisville but its also my first time using airbnb. I was a bit sceptical of the site at first but with Herb's patience and reassurance i had the most amazing time in Louisville and when i come back i look forward to staying in his beautiful home again. This is a perfect location less then 1 mile from everything you could want to do in Louisville. The house is amazing! It is historic and unaltered. Safe neighborhood.. On site parking.. And i must add that Herb is quite the chef. Thank you again for making my first "but not last" experience here in Louisville one to remember!

    Gabriael2015-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Herb made us feel very welcome. The place was as described but better. It was in the historic district with easy parking. It felt safe and was close to the downtown area and easy access to highway.

    Mary2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • I didn't get the chance to meet Herb as our schedules did not match. Nevertheless he made sure everything was in order and ready for me. The house is close to Old Louisville so well placed for visiting town. Everything went well.

    Alvaro2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was great. Herb met us the first night, welcomed us and explained the nearby restaurants and attractions. We brought our bikes along for the trip and he let us keep them in the downstairs entry way area. The house was located in a historic neighborhood and had many old homes. I enjoyed walking through the area and looking at the architecture.

    Brandi2016-06-26T00:00:00Z

  • Our employees stayed at Stuart's place last week while in town for a project. They were very impressed by the amenities, area and cleanliness. They actually asked to stay there again this week while in town again! Thanks to Stuart for offering such a welcoming place!

    Christina2015-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay when visiting Louisville. Stuart's apt is as described on airbnb - everything was in great condition. Stuart was very responsive .. and very accommodating when we had to make a last minute adjustment to our plan. Thank you!! Apt is located in a very nice neighborhood .. old style Victorian homes, and few minutes drive to downtown area. We were visiting for the bourbon trail and the location is great to set as the base and drive each day to the different distilleries. Btw - must visit this cool dive bar (open until late - nice to just sit back and chat/drink away) .. and pizza place on Magnolia and 2nd St .. Just a couple of blocks from the apt.

  • We had a great time in Louisville and Stuart's place was a big part of that. Even though we were busy and did not spend a ton of time in the apartment, it was great to come back to such a cool place. It was the first Airbnb experience for my kids and me, and we loved it. The place is exactly as Stuart describes, and he covers all the details to park, get in and out perfectly.

    Francis2016-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Responsive to our needs. Nice and clean apartment. We were very comfortable! Those having trouble with stairs may want to look elsewhere.

    Wendy2015-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart's place is located Centrally in a very beautiful neighborhood full of Victorian homes. There are several corner stores and pubs nearby. The check in process was painless. We didn't have to communicate with him much, but our interaction was pleasant. The place was very comfortable (albeit a bit drafty on chilly nights). The second bedroom/reading nook area was very cute with great light in the daytime for reading. The TV had a lot of Channels as well so we didn't miss the game! When we come back to town we will definitely consider this place again.

    Reginald2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A friend and I visited Louisville for two nights while doing the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Stuart's place is very charming, and we appreciated knowing a little history on the building. The neighborhood is quite scenic, too, with the Victorian architecture and the tree-lined streets. The kitchen is really nice, recently updated, and quite roomy. We were very thankful for the coffee that was available! The bed I slept in (the queen) was quite comfy, too. We LOVED the location - close to downtown Louisville and very close to Churchill Downs. We always felt very safe in the neighborhood and in the apartment. Check-in was a breeze! Parking was always plentiful, too. And we appreciated the easy wi-fi password/network name :) A couple "heads-up" worth mentioning....(1) a nearby train could be quite loud at 3:00 in the morning (tip for future travelers: maybe pack some earplugs just in case...) Other than the train, it was quiet...and (2) we thought there were going to be two proper bedrooms - instead it's one room with a queen bed and a door, and one room that's sectioned off from the living room with a curtain that has a day bed. This wasn't a problem for us, just not what we expected. All in all, I would highly recommend Stuart's place, and would definitely look to stay here in for any future trips to Louisville.

  • Stuart is very easy to communicate with! The area in Old Louisville where the apt is has a laundry mat one block away which makes for things to be very easy there's also pretty much everything else you need in walking the apt itself is spacious and there's lots of light b

COMPLETELY RENOVATED beautiful apartment in a duplex downtown (on the 3rd floor). Very unique home with amazing sunlight and a small rooftop deck that has a beautiful view of downtown. This home has one bedroom, large living room (with a sofa bed) and beautiful kitchen. Work space and internet available. private parking. Great location, close to everything. FYI... There are some serious steps to access the apartment because it is on the 3rd floor.
This is mostly commercial area on the edge of downtown, close to all the "cool" neighborhoods (i.e. nulu, germantown highlands, etc.). Right next to the expressways.
  • Great host, great place!

    Megann2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was absolutely perfect! All the charm of a more vintage area of the city with all the modern flair. Not to mention a great view of some of the downtown skyline.

  • Make sure to coordinate parking if you want to use the off street spot

    Alvah2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The location was located near to just about anything that you could want to do in Louisville. It's a great place to stay. We really enjoyed the deck.

  • We had a great stay here while in Louisville for the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Communication was quick and easy before and during our stay. The location was good with many downtown attractions walk-able or a short drive/Uber. The place was very nice, clean, and had a nice view. The sofa bed was large and comfortable. The backyard was nice as we had our dog with us.

    Bob2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute apartment and Alexandria was a great host! Centrally located and a great backyard for my dog. I would definitely recommend this place.

    Heather2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Alexandria's place! We loved all the exposed brick and how cute it was! It was close to everything downtown. She was a great host and helped us out in a pinch when we asked if we could borrow a few items since we had luggage lost. We would definitely recommend!

Vertigo is the 3rd floor flat of an 1890 home in Old Louisville near downtown & NuLu. The private dog-friendly space is reached by it own outdoor staircase. With gorgeous architectural details, a fully-outfitted vintage-style kitchen, & full bath you're in the perfect home for your trip to Derby city. As your host, I'm a freelance writer who's covered Louisville for national outlets; a Certified Bourbon Steward; and a Kentucky Colonel. What's that mean? I'll help you make the most of your stay!
This is a dog-friendly, sunny top floor flat overlooking your corner of Old Louisville, a historic and primarily residential neighborhood a super quick drive to the top restaurants and other adventures in Louisville. Because we often stay here ourselves when we rent the main house, it's a homey, livable space. With about 800 square feet altogether, here's what you'll have: SLEEP AND CHILL A big, sunny living/bedroom with the most amazing light at sunset (we find it perfect for cocktail hour). In here is a super comfy queen sized, new Tuft & Needle bed made with cozy, luxe Brooklinen sheets, plus a big (also comfy!) chaise sofa and chair along with a Roku TV with Netflix/Amazon/local cable. Louisville's great and all but we don't blame you for burrowing into that couch for a binge. Original hardwood floors restored by local artisans, and exposed brick and rafters come together to make this lovely place to kick back and relax. A funky old wardrobe provides space for your clothes and luggage. EAT, DRINK, BE MERRY A dining room that's open to the kitchen with a farmhouse-style table (that does double duty as a work desk). Over by the window in the dining room is a vintage rolling bar cart with the tools you'll need to mix up a drink. Just add bourbon! COOK A kitchen under the eaves complete with vintage 1940s restored stove, mini-sink, small retro-style fridge and microwave, toaster, coffee pot, and good quality cooking staples (let us know if you have a special request!). We've set it up with a complete set of new Anolon Advanced Umber cookware plus cast iron skillet and enamelware casserole and high quality, sharp knives. This is a full-on kitchen meant for people who love to cook! WASH UP A bright, clean, compact bathroom with step-in shower (all subway tile, all the time!) and a cocktail ledge. Just kidding, it's a niche for shampoo and whatnot, but hey, we are not here to judge if you like showerbeer. :) HANG OUT A small balcony overlooking our courtyard and carriage house along with neighboring homes and businesses, with downtown Louisville's skyline a mile away. MUST LOVE DOGS We have two dogs. You may hear them bark when you arrive, and when they greet the mailman or any visitors we have or go out to do their business (which is never after bedtime). We actively discourage extracurricular barking. Truffle is a senior Pomeranian ball of fluff and Cassius Thunderpaws (aka Cash) is half Great Pyrenees, half German Shepherd thundering bundle of exuberant love who is a therapy dog and wants nothing more than to meet you. Both available for cuddles. >>Bringing your own puppers? We're big fans of dog people and we'd love for you to bring your dog (that's just ONE, please) but check with me before booking and tell me a little about your dog, and let me describe the potty situation at our urban (read: not much grass) property. Note he or she will have to be able to climb the stairs (or be carried. Best to try this on the steepest open stairs you can before committing). If your dog can make the stairs with no problem, great! But we have some house rules just for them. First the good news: We don't discriminate on breed or size (we know how that feels with our big guy!). Yes, that's right. NO SIZE LIMIT. Also no extra charge. And the same deposit ($100) as everyone else. What can I say, we love dogs. But: we limit our canine guests to ONE well behaved, socialized, and crate-trained pup who must be up to date on vaccinations and flea preventative, and the biggie is there's no leaving doggo in the flat alone unless he or she in their crate. (We don't even leave our *own* big boy alone in the house unattended ever since he decided to eat the wooden transition strip by the kitchen ... as you'll notice.) OLD HOUSE LOVE Do note that this is an old house. 127 years old to be exact. We worked really (really!) hard on renovating the space, but it's not square, level, plumb or any of those other things that made it so frustrating for the folks helping us fix it up. It's not perfect, but that's not what we're after. We love the character of old houses, and if you do too, we'll get along just fine. THERE WILL BE RULES There's absolutely no smoking (of anything) in Vertigo. We are so strict on that one! Registered guests only, unless you have our permission first. And please be respectful of the neighborhood and our home. If you're traveling with a dog contact us first before booking. BUT THERE ARE ALSO PERKS Vertigo guests get a great discount with Sour Mash Tours' walking/bourbon tasting tours of nearby NuLu. You also get your first ride free on LouVelo bike share, and loaner helmets for your stay! 2+1=3 Due to popular request, we've opened Vertigo up to be a three-guest space. Because of the stairs we're limiting younger ones to ages 12 and up. The third person has the sleeping option of the couch – in the same room as the bed – or an air mattress in a nook of the dining room. The air mattress will somewhat impede foot traffic, but not terribly so. WANT MORE? Are you still reading? Awesome! Come find us on insta gram at VertigoLouisville for behind the scenes photos of the renovation, our neighborhood, and lots of doggie pics.
We're in Old Louisville, in a historic urban, primarily residential neighborhood called Limerick. It's walking distance to downtown (20 to 30 minutes, depending on where you're headed), and three miles to Churchill Downs. The amazing St. James Court, and Central Park (free summer Shakespeare shows!) are a short walk away. This is the largest concentration of Victorian homes in the country, and is a historic preservation district. Basically, you can walk around and just ogle mansions to your heart's content. You're minutes by car from Louisville's amazing restaurants and bars, in the heart of a diverse residential area that's beginning to transform into a destination in its own right. Here's a look at what we've got nearby (15 minutes or less on foot) >A great family-owned small craft beer brewery at dog-friendly and laid back Old Louisville Brewery >Crazy good doughnuts and excellent local coffee at the awesome North Lime shop (opening late this year) >The fabulous Bar Vetti with cocktails and sumptuous Italian fare >Six Ten Magnolia, the flagship restaurant from renowned chef Edward Lee (who you may have seen on Mind of a Chef or in the New York Times) And then all sorts of cool little nooks and crannies I can't wait to tell you about. Old Louisville isn't really on the radar of many national travel writers so you can really stumble across some cool off the beaten track places -- with the right guide ;)
  • You cannot go wrong with Vertigo! Dana and Brian are attentive hosts who are happy to answer questions and make recommendations. We met them one night for a drink and we had a great time. The attic was cozy and in a great location. They even made sure we had coffee and some breakfast snacks in the morning. What a GREAT experience.

    Monica2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is an adorable location. Great for staying in, well designed and lots of space to settle down and get work done or read a good book. Dana was incredibly helpful and communicated swiftly. We had a great stay and I hope we have a reason to come back to Louisville soon!

    Ngiste2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Dana was the friendliest host we've ever used through ABNB. She regularly gave us updates and made sure we had everything we needed, as well as sharing some local knowledge. The room was filled with hidden gems, like board games and coloring books. All in all, it was a very pleasurable experience, and I would recommend to anyone!

    Nathan2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly my best airbnb experience ever. The apartment is lovely, charming, cute as a button. The bed is shockingly comfortable. The location is great, very central. And there's plenty of street parking. And Dana and Brian are the best hosts ever. They're definitely available if you need anything, and Dana was so helpful and willing to give restaurant and attraction advice (she's a food writer)! You can tell that they love their city, and I loved it, too! Recommendations for Louisville first timers: The Speed (an incredible art museum on U of L's campus that is free on Sundays), dinner at Garage Bar (the potato prosciutto pizza is nuts and their basil gimlet is one of the best cocktails I've had lately), coffee/breakfast at Please and Thank You, and Carmichael's (Louisville's adorable independent bookstore). Louisville is great, and you should visit and stay at this charming airbnb.

  • Dana’s place was amazing and exactly as the pictures. Dana was a great host and provided tons of recommendations! Vertigo feels like your own apartment and is very private. Those stairs are no joke but our stay was amazing. Best Airbnb experience I’ve had!

  • We stayed at Vertigo for three nights in July 2017 and it was a wonderful home base for our time in Louisville. The unit itself is beautiful, thoughtfully decorated, well-stocked, and spotless, with plenty of clever touches throughout. Kitchen has everything you need for food preparation, including oven, nice pots/pans, and utensils and would be suitable for a longer stay as well. Love the binder of local recommendations. They're not kidding about the steps - they are steep and we definitely took our time when going down, so if that's an issue for you a different spot may be better. Despite 90+ degree days the AC kept everything cool and comfortable. I got to say hi to one of the host's dogs, so that's obviously a plus as well. The Old Louisville area is full of beautiful old homes - we really enjoyed jogging around the area. There are a few restaurants/shops in walking distance and most everything else (NuLu area, downtown, germantown) is a 10-15 minute drive away. Street parking was easy. We loved staying at Vertigo, and hope it's available again if/when we're back in Louisville!

    Sadie2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Dana, Brian, Cassius and Truffles are amazing hosts! The space was wonderful- clean, cozy and had absolutely everything you could need. The bed is super comfy and there is a great old record player that I put to good use. Dana had many great recommendations for restaurants and places to go. The neighborhood is great- the architecture in old Louisville is unreal. So many beautiful old churches and homes. We will definitely stay again next time we come to Louisville! Wish we had been able to spend more time getting to know you, Dana and Brian!

    Lisa2017-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Dana is a gem, she went above and beyond our expectations! So much character and love put into the Vertigo space. We will be back to visit and will be recommending anyone coming to Louisville to check her out!

  • Great third floor studio apartment in Old Louisville. Walking distance from restaurants and a short drive to everything else the city has to offer. Blair was a great host and was always a phone call away if we needed anything. The apartment was cute and cozy and our hosts provided everything that we needed!

    Christina2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Blair's place is a cozy spot in Old Louisville, with great space in the backyard to grill or just hang out. It's in walking distance to restaurants and bars, with a couple little bodegas in the neighborhood. I even walked to downtown a couple miles away for a good stretch of the legs. Defining worth the stay.

  • The apartment was clean and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and helpful. I had a great time staying here.

    Julia2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Best hosts on Airbnb! Blair and Cindy showed us the real southern hospitality. They were welcoming, lovely, nice and accommodating. Really good people, enjoyed talking to them. The small apartment is in an old building in Old Louisville. So you shouldn't expect a modern home. The AC had difficulties maintaining a good temperature in the hot July and it was loud trying to cool the place. The hosts have a lovely small dog, people with allergies should be aware. The wifi worked really well. The tv didn't have good reception. The kitchen was well equipped and we could cook for ourselves. Laundry is 3 blocks from here, no machines in the building.. Good experience overall. Thank you Blair and Cindy!

  • My husband and I stayed at Blair's home for the Louisville Ironman. The location was PERFECT which made our many trips to downtown very easy! The home was adorable and very cozy! I would definitely stay here again!

  • This is a lovely old building with lots of character, in a safe and interesting neighbourhood. Central Park is a 15 minute walk through Old Louisville. There are a few small shops and liquor stores within a 5 minute walk, and a larger supermarket within a 30 minute walk / 10 minute cab ride. Downtown is a 30 - 45 minute walk / 5 - 10 minute Uber ride away. Blair was a great host - really communicative before we arrived, and very helpful during our stay. The room is clean and pleasant, with a decent kitchen and private bathroom. There is also a nice back yard with a fire pit and hammock. I would be very happy to stay here again.

Old Louisville is a historic district and neighborhood in central Louisville, Kentucky, USA. It is the third largest such district in the United States, and the largest preservation district featuring almost entirely Victorian architecture. It is also unique in that a majority of its structures are made of brick, and the neighborhood contains the highest concentration of residential homes with stained glass windows in US.
SECOND FLOOR CONDO IN A HISTORIC 120 YEAR OLD BUILDING. THERE ARE 4 UNITS IN THE BUILDING. HARDWOOD FLOORS WITH RUGS. GREAT DECOR.
A WALK SOUTH AND WEST FROM UNIT WILL UNVEIL GREAT TREASURE IN VICTORIAN HOUSES. WALK NORTH AND EAST IS INTO A MORE URBAN NEIGHBORHOOD.

  • Anne gets the best hostess ever award! She was gracious with her advice and friendly before our stay and so helpful during it. When we needed anything she responded right away and went out of her way for us. She gave us detailed advice for restaurants and Derby day, lent us ponchos for the rain, and offered a sewing kit when we needed to fix a pant tear. Greeting us with cute gift bags filled with souvenirs and treats and a note upon arrival was the sweetest surprise. We even got to spend a little time with her while we were there which was really cool. Highlights: - Host: Anne made our stay in Louisville for the Derby. 8-) - Location: just a 5-10 minute drive to most areas we wanted to go to and less than a mile away to a bar/restaurant. - Neighborhood: quiet residential area so felt like a locals - Cuteness factor: Old Louisville house with character. - Sleeping accommodations: essentially 2 bedrooms with one in the entry area that could be set up - Kitchen: full kitchen, table, and loungey long chair. Lowlights: - This was one of my friend's first AirBnb stay and now she'll have high expectations for others. Really enjoyed our stay. I would be happy to stay at any of Anne's properties in the future--highly recommend it.

    Eve2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Anne and her place were lovely! The water pressure in the shower was awesome and the beds (including the pull out couch) were very comfortable! I highly recommend this place!

    Kayla2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This property was just what we needed for a family gathering in the area. We modified the pull-out couch sleeping area a bit so that each of our kids had their own spot. Easy access to the apartment. And Luanne always responded to my messages promptly!

    Elesha2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Anne's space had everything that we needed and more. We appreciated the snack and beverages that she had available for us. Her location is on a quiet, well-kept street not far from restaurants and tourist sites. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Michael and Suzanne2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Luanne's place was great! super comfortable beds (the pullout bed is like an amazing nest), spotlessly clean, lots of little amenities like water, tea, hot chocolate, and snack bars... The bathroom is very private, a bonus when you're with a group. Nice tvs in both rooms, and a very warm and attentive but not at all overbearing host who is quick to respond with help about the area or any concerns about the house. I highly recommend it!

    Dylan2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Anne is awesome! Very accomodating! Always available to her guests!

    Christina2017-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • The kitchen is large and well-equiped with everything we needed. The location is great for walking around Old Louisville. Although we didn't meet Anne, she was very quick to respond to any questions.

    Cathy2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Anne's for 4 nights in October during the St James Art Festival. She was excellent with communication, we made a request last minute that she gratefully accommodated, and is very nearby if you need anything. The house is very clean, the bed incredibly comfortable (lovely quilts), and the kitchen was stocked with coffees, instant drinks and granola bars. It is walkable to Central Park and several restaurants and bars (don't miss Old Louisville Brewery, FYI dog friendly). We parked at the show, even though we were offered parking in the back of the house too which was great if we had needed. There are adorable feral cats chasing squirrels in the yard and a Roku tv to stay entertained. We took an uber downtown that was only $14 roundtrip on a Saturday night. No negatives; we will be back!! Thanks so much guys!

Our home is just a few short minutes drive or bus ride to Churchill Downs, the city center, parks, cafes, restaurants, and the airport. Situated on a dead-end street in one of the premiere historic districts in America. Great place to stay for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families, and big groups.
Our home is well-suited for parties and larger groups (great flow, outdoor patio, coffee/tea bar, Green Egg smoker/grill, fire pit, etc.)
Our home sits at the end of one of the only dead-end streets in Old Louisville, at the entrance of Garvin Gate, home to the largest free Blues Festival in the nation. For this reason, it is free from traffic and a safe haven for bikes and pedestrians.

  • Mike's home is beautiful. Nestled in old Louisville, centrally located to everything in the city. It was clean, comfortable, fancy and very affordable. This place is a gem. I also felt very safe in his home.

  • Mike's home has been lovingly and tastefully restored. It was such a treat for us to stay in a space that was both luxuriously decorated, and comfortable, warm, and welcoming. I felt immediately at ease when I arrived and was sad to leave. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Louisville.

  • Mike is a wonderful host and the house is absolutely beautiful. We were in town for the derby and Mike gave us some good advice about where to go and timing, etc. Check in and check out were easy and Mike was quick to respond to messages when he wasn't at the house. The bed is comfortable, the water is hot, the house is quiet. The location is perfect in an up and coming old neighborhood. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks Mike!

  • Mike's place is nice and quiet and extremely comfortable. About a 15 to 20 minute walk from 4th street live and 30 from main street; it was perfect for the fall weather. Check in and out was a breeze and plenty of street parking. If you're in the area this is a fantastic place to rest up for the next day.

  • Mike's place is beautiful, comfortable, and centrally located not far from downtown Louisville. I was traveling for a conference being held in downtown and found it much more affordable to stay at Mike's and use Uber to get around. He wasn't there the weekend I was in town but was easily accessible and responsive to the few questions I had after arriving. I would highly recommend it and am just sorry I didn't have more time to just simply enjoy the home!

  • Highly recommended spot. The apartment is ideal for a couple. Very relaxed feel to the place. The outdoor area and water fountain were a real bonus!

  • Great private place to stay with plenty of restaurants close by. The carriage house was very comfortable and elegantly furnished. Josh was a fantastic host and very attentive. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Great location, amazing old part of Louisville. Josh was very helpful and let us know about a Music festival that was going on while there. We were well prepared and brought chairs. Highly recommend for anyone coming to the area.

  • I can't say enough about this charming hide away. Super clean and fluffy. The bed is awesome and even the towels are fluffy. I want to cook in that kitchen. We were going to go pecking around town, but after a long day in the car, it was delightful to walk around looking at the fairy tail homes and eat in the neighborhood. We loved it. It's an easy entry and exit. We didn't see anyone til morning when we got to meet the cutie pie dogs, Carter and June. Josh and Edie responded right away to our messages, so we felt real looked after. This was so much better than a hotel off the by pass. Highly recommended. Oh yeah. There's orchids starting to bloom in the kitchen. You gotta love that.

  • Gorgeous space! Very friendly people in a very welcoming neighborhood. Not a single bad thing about our stay here. Absolutely loved it.

This room has all the amenities of home. Great location. 2 blocks from historic Brown Hotel and Theater. Palace Theater and 4th Street Live 10 min walk. 20 min walk to Yum Center and 4th Street Live and the Urban Distilleries. Around the corner is Spaulding University. Must love cats. I have two friendly cats.
On the edge of downtown and historic Old Louisville, my condo is within walking distance to entertainment and dining. You will love the convenience of the location.
  • Bill's place was very stylish and unique to say the least! It had an amazing atmosphere with two lovely cats that were very friendly. Bill had flowers and chocolates in our room when we arrived and the location was perfect to explore anywhere in Louisville. His collection of room decor was amazing and one to remember! It was a great place and we would definitely stay there again.

    Grace2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place! Very clean and comfortable. Convenient to downtown; we were able to walk to most places with no trouble. A huge plus is that this place has a parking lot next to it, so if you are driving into town and plan on being downtown mostly, having a place to park your car at no cost is a major savings. The condo is in a historic building, very well maintained. You can tell the neighbors take great pride in their homes, inside and out. Bill's place is immaculate. The bed is very comfortable and sleeps well. We were able to have a friendly chat with the owner our first morning there and get some good recommendations on where to visit and where to eat. So many great options nearby; we weren't able to even scratch the surface. Highly recommend a stay here on your next visit to Louisville.

    Kathryn2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The condo is very nice. The location is great. It's on a quiet street, yet very close to several Louisville attractions. Bill is really nice and had great suggestions on what to see & do in Louisville

    Tracey2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Bill's place is just lovely. It's in a great location (close to downtown), has a very comfortable bed, and is nice and quiet. Bill himself was a great host and really interesting to talk too. He will give you great recommendations around town, and be as in contact or out of contact as you require. Highly recommended - this place is well worth the booking.

  • A nice apartment with one bedroom for guests. The space is very masculine and appears to be Craftsman style. Very comfortable and appealing. Great art on the walls. The host has his office next to main room. He is a professional investigator and very interesting to talk with. He provided nice amenities like fresh flowers in the room and a wide selection of bourbons for sipping. The location is very close to downtown and lot of historic buildings and history. Bill is a great guy, knowledgeable about the area, and he provided local magazines as a resource. Our very best Airbnb so far, thanks Bill!

    Susan2017-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great, clean, and comfortable. We stayed for 2nights and did not regret it at all! It was in a good location, $6 uber rides and Bill was hospitable with a Keurig in our room, snacks and even fresh flowers.

    Danielle2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Bill had great historical knowledge of the area and was a welcoming host. It was a home away from home. It was quiet, clean, well appointed - perfect to unwind after a long day.

The Old Louisville Guest House is a beautifully renovated historic house. It is just over 2 miles from Churchill Downs and a short drive to fantastic restaurants, museums and all the sights of the River City. Perfect for short or longer visits and of course for those following the bourbon trail!
3 bedroom, 2 full bath carriage house. With 1 car garage and washer and dryer.
The house is part of the largest collection of Victorian homes in the country. Please note, there is noise from planes, trains and other city sounds here in Old Louisville. If you are a light sleeper, this may not be the spot for you.

This princess room has a canopy over a full bed and a private en suite bath. It is on the second floor of a charming three-story Victorian home in historic Old Louisville. Built in 1882, our home maintains the original charm with 12-foot ceilings and original woodwork. You have access to the TV room, dining room, kitchen, and deck overlooking our private garden. We are close to the hottest areas in Louisville. This room is good for couples, solo adventurers, and pets. We have 2 dogs & a cat.
Old Louisville neighborhood is one of the largest Victorian era neighborhoods in the entire U.S.
  • Very hospitable, had great convo and felt very welcome. It was easy to find parking, and the places we needed to go were easily accessible by walking or Lyft/Uber. Lovely decor in the house, it's been very well kept.

  • Wendy's place was great for our overnight stay in Louisville. Wendy was quick and clear to communicate with leading up to check-in, she was not there to meet us but there were no issues getting in. Cats were very friendly and super cute! The space was actually a lot bigger than expected, lots of space to relax. Thanks Wendy!

    Jamie2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable place. Lovely cats!

    Roger2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy was very gracious and flexible with check-in and check-out; however, the space was not at all as pictured. It smelled like cigarettes and was very dirty, including hairs and toothpaste in bathroom, dirty litterbox in kitchen, sticky carpeting, trashcan with some sort of brown remains in it, etc. Also no AC upstairs where the bed was. We took the temperature and it was over 80 degrees up there. There was also a leak in the ceiling and a plumber came by while we were out to fix it and left a note, which was disconcerting as we had all our personal belongings in the open. Wendy was very sweet and responsive to communicate with, but I would not stay in her place again due to the condition.

    Kelly2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy was a great host. She responds very fast with any questions. The bedroom is very big. The cat was super friendly and cute.

    Doug2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy's place was a great location for going to 4th street. Only about 7 min uber. It is also a log bigger than it looks in pictures, so definitely could comfortably fit 4-6 people. The cats are pretty chill too and friendly:)

  • Great experience all around. We came down with a group for forecastle festival and it was perfect. Great communication from host and using the keypad entry was beneficial for anyone coming or going on their own. Quiet neighborhood within a short cab/uber to downtown. Clean towels, and sheets for the entire group. I would definitely come back here again! Thanks Glenda!

  • We had such a fabulous time staying here! The house was beautiful and Glenda made everything very easy and was so helpful! She was available whenever we had questions and gave us lots of suggestions for exploring the area. Loved it!

    Rachel2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We used Glenda's Louisville townhouse for a bachelor party with 14 people. The house was perfect plenty of room for everyone and many beds that many of us had our own beds. There is also a really nice large backyard with some nice patio furniture. The location is perfect only about a mile from downtown which is walkable or a 5 dollar uber ride. Glenda and her daughter Faith were extremely helpful with providing many suggestion for things to do and places to eat. The definitely encourage a lot of fun and were perfect host for us over the weekend. I would definitely recommend any large parties or groups of people to consider using Glenda and Faiths house!

  • Glenda was fantastic through every step of the process. She was quick to respond, organized and happy to give us tips about Louisville. She also arranged to take delivery of a welcome package that had been sent down to our group. The house itself is beautifully restored, comfortable and conveniently located in Old Louisville. Bonus points for a seemingly limitless supply of towels which came in handy for our large group.

    Josh2016-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome, Glenda let us store our luggage early. Neighborhood was sketchy, road was being paved, but all in all it was a good experience

  • Great host. I really had a great time meeting Johanna. I was on my interview trail, moving from one place to another, and her place was exceptionally welcoming and comforting. Would recommend it to anyone.

    Nicole2014-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Unit was easy to get to from the airport, and was in a great location for me. Easy to get to downtown and had buses running from out the front. Sam and Johanna were very welcoming - Sam was nice enough to wait up until I arrived very late in the evening. The room has plenty of space as well as a dedicated bathroom. Everything was very clean and tidy.

    James2015-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location between downtown Louisville and UofL campus. Johanna and her friends were very welcoming, lovely place!

  • My friends and I went to KY for a conference and stayed with Johanna and Sam. We were pretty much gone 6am-12am everyday and did not get to interact much with them, but they were friendly and helpful during the check-in and check-out process. The room and bathroom were both very clean and the apartment was really nice!

    Hilda2015-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Johanna and Sam were great hosts. They agreed to have us stay last minute which really helped us out. When we arrived they offered us tea which was very nice coming in from the cold.

    Jacob2015-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Johanna is a very kind host and was quick to point out any attractions Louisville has to offer. Their home is clean and orderly and their cat is super adorable and social. Definitely would recommend!

    Jordan2014-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Johanna was a fantastic host! While I only interacted with her a few times, since I kept kind of an odd schedule while I was in town, she was very pleasant and made me feel like her home was my home. The room was very spacious and comfortable. I even got to make friends with their cat, which was nice since I always miss my own cats when I travel. Downtown is only a short walk away, and there are several convenient bus routes to get you downtown, as well as into the Highlands area. It's about a 10-15 minute ride, at most, from the airport. There's a grocery store nearby, too, in case you forgot any essentials or want to pick up snacks of your own.

    Sarah2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Johanna and Sam are a lovely and educated couple. they made me feel really at home. the area surrounding the apartment is relatively safe in a nice neighborhood. I definitely recommend them to people who want to have a memorable stay in Louisville.

  • The place was a cute little studio apartment on the second floor of an apartment building. Cindy was amazing and looked up near by events going on that my friend and I might me interested in. An Uber ride to downtown was a quick 10 minute trip and less then $12 usually.

    Emily2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Having stayed at Blair's place for several weeks, I can say that he and Cindy are top notch hosts, and I would gladly recommend their place to anyone!

  • Blair and Cindy took us in on short notice and we could not have chosen a better place to stay in Louisville. They were very welcoming and accomodating. The studio apartment was clean, comfortable and nicely set up. Thank you for hosting us!

    Fiona2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy and Blair have been such phenomenal hosts, it's hard to fully express my appreciation! They have repeatedly gone out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable, even as I have had to make multiple last minute changes to my itinerary. Being in Louisville for work, I originally planned to stay for only a week, and I've wound up extending that to almost four. Blair and Cindy's place has been very comfortable throughout that time, and I have no hesitation recommending it to others. I hope to be back myself before too long!

    Paul2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great for the price. We liked the cool buildings and character of "Old Lou". A little outside of the downtown action but nothing a quick cab or Uber couldn't take care of. Not a bad walk either. Loved our host Cindy, she really made us feel welcome. We would defiantly consider staying there again. Thanks!

Cheerful, cozy, colorful, eclectic. An artist's flat full of light in Old Louisville! My home is a warm and happy place and I hope it will be for you, too! Just one block from Central Park and surrounded by Old Louisville's most charming Victorian homes, but (happily!) in close proximity to its dive bars, as well- lest we get too fancy. St. James Court Art Show, Derby...we're at the center of all of it. Welcome, new friends! Hope you fall in love with it like I did. (Also, welcome, dog friends!)
The building is charming and very centrally located. My apartment is on the 3rd floor (walk-up) and is warm and sunny with wood floors throughout. A large living room with a turntable and records you're welcome to enjoy! The sunroom is lovely and has a comfy futon for an additional guest. The bedroom is cozy with a queen bed. Small (but cute and functional!) kitchen. Shower with tub. My style is artsy, colorful and eclectic- hope you enjoy!
I fell in love with this neighborhood when I moved here four years ago from San Francisco! Tree-lined streets and beautiful Victorian homes make the neighborhood irresistibly charming! Five minutes from downtown, easy highway access, close to UofL campus, one block from Central Park, minutes from Churchill Downs. Plenty of neighborhood restaurants and bars nearby and a quick drive to other popular neighborhoods- Germantown, Highlands, Nulu.
  • This location cannot be beat. There are several restaurants, bars, coffee shops in easy walking distance and a beautiful park a block away. The decor is retro-fab with a cool solarium for lounging, a record player, and many books to browse. The bed is extremely comfortable. Just be aware there is no television or microwave, so plan accordingly.

  • Good host. Good communication with checking in and out. Everything was arranged nicely and the apartment has a cool vibe to it. Close to several restaurants and close to everything. Good for a first trip to Louisville. Didn't have a problem finding parking within a block but might be different in winter.

  • Just what it says. And Ehren is always available to answer any questions. She also recommended a great breakfast place.

  • Ehren’s place is as advertised. We had everything we needed for the weekend. Location is very central to everything to do in Louisville. Ehren is a great host.

  • Jeff and Bess are great! If you like pets, vintage homes and rad people - then this is definitely a place for you.

  • Awesome 1.5 week stay. Friendly, yet quiet housemates sharing the space. While there's only one bathroom/shower, there were rarely any conflicting times since it seems that everyone runs on a different schedule. Make sure to spend time on the deck - it's so serene!

  • jeff and bess were super accomodating to my last minute need for a place, and were very understanding when i wasnt feeling well and kept changing my mind about what time i wanted to get their. their quirky house is interesting, neighborhood has a lot of character and they are very friendly.

  • Jeff and the roommates were accommodating and nice. The cat was really friendly and I had fun playing with him. I loved the roof deck and the bed, kitchen, restroom etc. were all satisfactory. The hosts worked with me in some circumstances demonstrating flexibility. They are very easy to contact and communicate with. One minor thing that I did not like was the fact that the window can't be closed properly in the guest room. There are openings at the top (which I tried to block unsuccessfully) which allowed a lot of street noise in throughout the night. Since the house is located in an intimidating area, there was bass thumping and emergency sirens every now and then. Being a light sleeper, I was very unproductive a few days at work. Besides this it was an interesting stay having never lived in a historic area before. I would recommend this place, especially because the hosts are friendly, central location, interesting neighborhood, and proximity to restaurants/stores.

  • We had a very comfortable stay,, and Jeff was such a thoughtful host. The house is lovely, and the dogs are adorable and sweet!

  • This was a very welcoming household. The roof garden courtyard was my favorite part, the bathroom shower is nice and the room was cozy and comfortable. The location was perfect for exploring Old Louisville and very convenient to go downtown as well. I would say that the neighborhood is 90% adorable cool old houses and 10% a little rough. Overall I had a great experience and I would recommend this listing to any young artsy folks or students. Thanks so much guys!

  • Staying at Jeff's place was a pleasure! It's a great house with a cozy room and a lovely outdoor area to hang out and eat your breakfast. Jeff and Bess are great hosts, and Jeff even picked me up at the airport! If you're lucky, their roommate will be baking some yummy cookies while you're there!

  • Room was small, but comfortable. Great location and very reasonable price. Well stocked kitchen made it easy to get some groceries prepare a meal or two. Also loved the roof top deck.

  • Place was very clean. Very close to downtown.

  • Myrna place more spacious than expected. It was nice to have two bathrooms and plenty of extra linens as it got cold at night. The space was functional, there were plenty of dishes, pots and pans if you wanted to cook, and a washer and dryer if you plan to stay for multiple days. The residence is only a short Uber ride away from downtown. We also really appreciated there was off street parking :)
