“This is quintessentially Amherst. We always go there for special occasions. The food is excellent: healthy and imaginative (American, French-inspired). The cocktails are great. Judie, the entertaining owner, circulates and makes conversation on weekend evenings. No reservations. ”

“This is the best pizza ever. Lots of unconventional pizza combinations (eg. Chicken Bacon Ranch) available by the slice. You can also order whole pizzas. It is a fun place to go, usually hopping. Usually people take-out. There are only a few tables and often a long line out the door. ”

Bar
“This could be good for a regular night or a celebration. An upscale bar/pub in town. Drinks are great. Great atmosphere. The food is typical for a pub but better quality and more upscale. They have a few TVs at the bar, but these do not dominate. (Johnny’s Tavern should not be confused with Johnny’s Diner - which is good when you want a classic diner experience. The Diner has the same owner as Johnny’s Tavern, but it is not as pricey and has a different menu. It is open late and family-friendly).”
