  • Heather's place was great for a weekend getaway. There was one canoe available, ALMOST NEW gas BBQ, wood burn fireplace by the lake. My whole family enjoyed the sceneries, fishing by the lake, canoeing, BBQ, and star gazing at night. The water was still a bit cold, but I managed to swim for 30 mins in the middle of the day. Our family also enjoyed the outdoor shower a lot! The kitchen was well equipped! We managed to make 5 people meal with all the kitchen equipment. Other reviews has mentioned this as well, the cottage is definitely on the old side. it requires a bit tighty up and cleaning. The doors doesn't shut completely which can be annoying at night. Two things I wish was paid more attention to in the house manual before coming here. First is the caterpillars!!!! In the house manual, heather mentioned about over-abundance of creepy-crawlies, she really means it. Caterpillars are everywhere outside of the house!!! (They fell on you from the trees from time to time. Yikes!) Second is the water pressure. It really limits you to only use the shower outside, and doing dishes can be somewhat a challenge.

  • Our second time visiting -- a beautiful spot, everything we needed. Spent all day sitting on the dock and swimming. Heather was fast to respond to any questions -- a great host. We will visit again for sure.

    Shane2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Heather was very accommodating and provided detailed instructions to make our stay as smooth as possible. The cottage was perfect for our group, with great spaces for cooking, playing games and chatting around the wood stove, roasting marshmallows outside, and canoeing. I would definitely make another trip to Heather's place

    David2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Heather was very accommodating and informative in answering any questions we had. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. The cottage was on a beautiful private and quiet property right on a clear lake. We really enjoyed canoeing during the day and making a campfire at night. The neighbour's friendly dog also came over and we enjoyed playing with her as well. Overall, we had a great time!

    Yarden2015-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • In lieu of the annual camping trip we usually take, my family rented the cottage for the weekend. I had high hopes, and I have to say that Heather's cottage ended up greatly exceeding everyone's expectations. The cottage itself is very nice, and incredibly well equipped. Heather was a pleasure to communicate with, and provided a very detailed document to answer all of our questions. The lake was beautiful, often completely undisturbed in the morning and at night. We also got some use out of the paddleboat, and spent the last evening down by the fire pit. Thank you for a fantastic weekend, Heather! I wish we had a chance to meet you in person before leaving.

    Anthony2014-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great rustic cottage on the beautiful Big Clear lake. We enjoyed the outdoor shower and took full advantage of the water. My tip: If you stay here make sure you bring a fishing rod.

    Ashley2014-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Heather was very easy to communicate with, and her cottage was perfect! Great dock to fish off, we started catching fish right away! Lots of space for sleeping, the bunker was great (especially if someone in your group snores!). Would definitely rent Heather's property again.

    Briana2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and very well equipped! We loved our get away at Heather's Cottage, great fishing and a nice quiet spot to relax!!! Highly recommended!!

  • Amazing place! John and Laura are great hosts. Communication was great. We knew exactly what to expect, how to get around, how to get to the cabin. Instructions were very clear. John and Laura were available to help us out even during the Christmas time. The cabin is a sweet tiny house. Very cozy. The trails are nice (orange one was challenging with a lot of snow!). Great experience. We'll be back in summer! Thanks again Laura and John!

    Michał2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly my most memorable experience with Airbnb so far! The hosts thought of everything and then some. Such a cozy atmosphere with some adventure packed in as well. Very organized, detailed and the communication was timely. I would definitely suggest booking more than 2 nights.. we were so tempted to skip work the next day and relax a little more! Thanks again John and Laura : ) can’t wait to see what you create in the future

    Jess2018-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • John and Laura made sure that we had everything we might need for our stay. There were lovely great trails to explore and all were very well marked. It was a very nice time in a very nice thoughtfully arranged cabin

    Heather2018-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay at Mason Cabin. Very secluded and private. Felt like we were the only two people in a 100 km radius. The hiking trail we did was great! A little bit challenging with the terrain and wayfinding but overall an awesome experience. Didn't see a single other footprint in the snow (saw lots of animal prints though)! The cabin comes stocked with most amenities (except for running water), is insulated, and is not difficult to get to. Really the only thing we needed to bring was food and pillowcases (and maybe an extra blanket if you get cold easily) - everything we needed was already there!

    Albert2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views. Beautiful trails. Laura and John are amazing hosts and this cabin is a great little spot for a cozy couple days!

    Emily2017-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolute blast at this cabin. The communication was by far the best we’ve ever experienced with our stays! Everything was exactly as described and everything we needed was provided. The bugs outside were very bad; however, that was expected this time of year and we were prepared. The only thing that we could possible say was a bit unexpected was the amount of cockroach type bugs inside the cabin. During our 4 day stay we saw about 6. This could be usual for this area, but we were not used to it as we travelled quite a distance for our stay. Overall, we had a great getaway and unwind from the hectic day to day life in a city. Hosts were amazing and did everything they could to assist us! If you’re looking to relax and unwind without the hassles of typical “camping” this is a great spot. Thanks so much for a great trip.

    Shelby2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • We just returned from a three-day two-night stay at the mini cabin, and we regret not booking for a few more nights! The driving instruction provided was accurate and easy to follow, and on arrival, snow shoes and a sled was waiting for us. The latter was such a great idea, as we could put our bags and the dachshund in as we took the 5-min scenic hike to the cabin. The ground was very snowy and it was cold when we arrived, minus double digits, but the little cabin was warm and welcoming. Lots of nice touches such as the extra blankets, an assortment of spices and seasonings, tea, coffee, sugar and flour, extra tea lights, headlamps and first aid kit, you really didn’t need to bring anything except fresh food and clothings. We made good use of the fire pit despite the cold. Had hamburgers the first night, rib eye steak the second. We got them from a nearby farm in Tweed, ON. The meat was excellent, and being able to eat local made the trip more special. Drinking/washing water, sponge and detergent was provided, along with other cleaning supplies (Clorox wipes and even a hand held vacuum!). TP and KT as well. Very thoughtful and generous touch. The location of the cabin was beyond beautiful. We had a beautiful sunset on the first night, and clear skies as well. Imagine seeing the Milky Way and the Big Dipper lying in the bed looking out of the picture window! It was just magical. I’d definitely stay here again. One thing of note: the heater could get a bit noisy if you are a very light sleeper. Either bring ear plugs, or be brave and turn down the heat when you go to bed. The blankets kept us warm in sub-20’s weather, and the heater won’t be kicking in every hour.

  • Wonderful people, incredibly warm and welcoming! Very easy to work with and communicated clearly. Their property is beautiful and the cabin is clean, quiet, and comfortable. Highly recommended! Would definitely stay here again! Thank you again!

    Vera2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The bunkie at John, Chris, and family's place was truly fantastic. We were greeted and given a detailed map of the property with clear instructions, had no problems getting a fire going in the stove and got to explore the trails while it warmed up inside. The space is spotless, cozy and has a perfect view of the surrounding trees. Outhouse is super close and clean. The care they take in even the smallest detail and work they've put into this beautiful property is really a sight to behold. Also, seeing a porcupine exiting their den and sliding down a snowy hill was pretty much the highlight of my winter. Thanks so much, we will definitely be staying here again!

  • What a fantastic spot for a getaway. The listing shows you exactly what the place is like, but doesn't tell you how beautiful and wild the property is, and how warm and welcoming John and his family are. This is the perfect place to unwind in the forest at a private getaway - fireflies, campfires, and the sounds of nature all around you.

  • Very clean space and host was most responsive to my many questions regarding location and operations of the cottage. Plenty of parking space and it had full amenities for cooking meals, sleep accommodations, clean washroom/shower. While I did not use the outside areas, appeared to quite a large area for BBQ, a deck and a fire pit for the evening activities. Great value for the money.

Fantastic 4 bedroom, 1300 square foot cottage on terrific lake. 150 feet of water frontage. Dock, clean deep water off of dock, also has shallow entry areas. Beautiful Canadian shield landscape. BBQ and smoker. Water toys like kayaks, stand up paddle board and water trampoline included. All amenities nearby. Screened in Muskoka Room and huge wrap around deck. Newly furnished.

  • This is a great property nestled in a beautiful piece of nature! The waterfront comes fully equipped with a few kayaks, a tugboat, paddles, life jackets, and fishing essentials. The dock is great and we enjoyed sitting out on it with the provided adirondack chairs. There is also a set of walkie talkies in the main cottage that can be used for comms/safety when people are down at the water. We also spent a lot of time out in the screened in Muskoka room playing board games, and the BBQ just next to it is directly hooked up to natural gas, so it was a breeze to fire it up and cook throughout the weekend. The cottage itself is also very nice and decorated with modern amenities. For those rainy nights, they have a large TV with satellite and dvd/bluray. NOTE: Be ready to bring potable water (they are on well water), sheets, toilet paper, paper towels and fire wood (there is wood around the property that can be chopped up too). Also, garbage cannot be left on the property, but the host can provide details on dropping off the garbage at a local dump. Overall, a great place! Definitely contact the owner for any specifics that might not be listed in the property description.

  • We had a great time at Phil's cottage! There was a fairly large group of us and we were very comfortable in the space, even when it was rainy out. The kitchen is well stocked (pots, pans, coffee maker) and the lake was great to explore with the four kayaks and SUP. We used the filtered well water for drinking with no problems, Phil also had bottled water available. There's a great giant fire pit for s'mores under the stars. We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back again.

The Cuckoo's Nest is a 3-hour drive east of Toronto and a 2-hour drive west of Ottawa. Our lake is perfect for fishing as it is connected to the Salmon River system. There is a boat launch down the road if you bring your own boat--or make use of our canoe. Guests fall in love with this place and choose to come back year after year. The Cuckoo's Nest boasts a bunkie that can be used for sleeping, or as a games room, in the warmer months and can accommodate 2 additional people.
Horseshoe Lake is very quiet, and is very easy to explore through boat. Being connected to the Salmon River system means if you have a map or just a strong sense of adventure you can travel for a long time in our quiet pristine waters! There is plenty of space on the property for a family to spread out and really relax. You will not feel crowded at the Cuckoo's Nest! This is the perfect place to unplug with your family away from the distractions of wifi.
  • This was a wonderful location for kayaking. Horseshoe Lake had many places to explore. We never even went to any of the other beautiful lakes in the area. Getting our kayaks into and out of the lake was a little challenging - steep but it was well worth it. House was lovely and had everything you could want -- except maybe wifi. Was also nice NOT to have it. Allie was very helpful and responsive.

    Marsha2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Allie's place was amazing! It was quiet and secluded and right on the lake! The girls and I that were staying there were stunned with the view! Definitely an amazing stay and would recommend to anyone! Cant wait to go back!

  • The Cuckoo's Nest was beautiful choice for our stay. We had perfect late fall weather and it was ever so tranquil. Great to be away from WiFi and we enjoyed watching movies from your collection of DVDs in the evening. It's easy to recommend the Cuckoo's Nest for a wonderful week of escape. Thanks Allie and family.

    Scott2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome stay! Booked Allie's place to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary. House was super clean and everything you needed to make your stay comfortable was there. Great instructions and communication at all times. Would definitely book again.

  • 4 years ago there were 4 friends who on a warm evening in Karachi, Pakistan - conceived a plan. The plan was to meet somewhere in Canada and have a summer retreat. Allies cottage was the result of that plan which has been 4 years in the making. Some of us travelled from Pakistan, and Scotland in order to be here at this cottage. We wish we spent more time here. We spent our days exploring the lake on the canoe, BBQing steaks and burgers, playing board games and just taking in the fresh air and serenity of the place. We spent the nights doing bonfires with hot mugs of coffee, singing, playing cards. We hope this is the first amongst many more Canadian summer vacations yet to come.

    Yusuf2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was absolutely stunning, inside and out. It was extremely well stocked. We were 6 people (3 couples) coming together for the long weekend and found it was perfect for us! Would highly recommend & plan to return.

    Hannah2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a lovely week here with our 10 month old daughter. We couldn't believe how serene we felt from the master bedroom, it truly feels like you're looking out from a treehouse. The cottage itself was immaculate and extremely well equipped with lots of pots, pans, trays, Tupperware - all kinds of cooking utensils, spices, - just everything you could want in a kitchen. The lake was a perfect temperature for swimming and nice to ease into since it has a sandy bottom

    Jane2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is incredibly well equipped, has everything you need for your stay. The lake is serene, really nice spot. Allie was always available to answer any questions we had. We stayed with a group of 4 adults and our dog, there was plenty of space. We enjoyed sitting by the fire, swimming and fishing. The cottage itself is nice, lots of windows to look out to the lake! Overall one of the best experiences renting a cottage any of us have had.

  • Beautiful place, enough room for everyone to sleep! and plenty of room in the kitchen, dining and living room which is all open concept. We ran into a bit of trouble with water as the hot weather dried up the well. Everything was good with a few trips to the lake for the water and we had enough bottled water to drink. I recommend this cottage for a group who doesn't want to bother with neighbours and almost a lake to themselves!

    Francis2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a large group with children and two dogs visit Rebecca's cottage this weekend. The communication and check in went seamlessly. The location is beautiful. As long as you're careful with little kids going down the stairs to the dock, you should be ok. There is a cute little beach area a couple of minutes away by foot. Some lighting along the stairs would be any easy addition for night time use and adding screen doors to keep the mosquitoes out of the cottage. Other than a couple of these changes, we had a blast and enjoyed our time together.

  • The host canceled this reservation 14 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

    Darin2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and the property was a nice mix of being on the water and having grass for lawn games. The stairs and dock suffered over the winter and we're in fairly rough shape. Didn't feel very safe walking down to the dock and ended up not being able to use it. Wouldn't recommend for young families in current state although I'm told some upgrades are in the works. The beach wasn't very "beachy" or sunny due to high water levels but it was still a nice area with picnic tables that we could spend time at. Bugs were really bad, but that's fairly typical for June. Would have preferred if they had screen doors so that we could have gotten some more air circulation. We had to keep doors closed due to the bugs and it got fairly warm on the higher level. Basement stayed nice a cool though which was great.

    Lois2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, the pictures don't even do it justice! Lovely interior and the beds are comfortable. Perfect view of the lake, and a great fire pit for sitting around. Well-stocked kitchen. We were surprised to find out that we needed to bring our own kitchen towels, garbage bags, and toilet paper -- one each of the latter two were provided. All in all, a lovely relaxing weekend in a beautiful cottage.

    Rachel2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • I brought my soccer team out to this cottage and we had a blast. The access to the small lake is perfect for getting everything you want in a cottage vacation. Our only small little issue was a 30 min drive if you happen to need more beer or supplies. Other than that we loved our stay at the Neighbours Cottage. The stars in the night sky are absolutely breathtaking!

    Toby2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and great neighbourhood, amazing dock. Good host! There needed some repairs due to storm damage and it was being fixed when we got here. Very roomy, and sleeps a lot of people. Only downside is the washroom situation, but it can be managed! Tip for garbage is to make a trip midway. The information about opening hours in the binder is out of date though. Make sure to verify.

    Thinesh2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • A roomy, well-maintained cottage on a nice lake. Big kitchen and living room area with plenty of bedrooms for sleeping - great for a large group! A floating dock on a swimmable lake, also has an inflatable boat. Comfy, soft beds. We used the BBQ for two of our meals and ate on the deck. Family friendly. Lots to do on the property and includes a fire pit. There are boardgames and cards for rainy days as well as DVDs and books. The only con for our experience was that the kitchen (inside the cupboards) was slightly dirty and disorganized...needs a bit of a scrub!

  • In a nutshell, my group's experience with Wolfgang and his waterfront cabin was perfect. His communication was always clear and timely. His directions to the cabin were very detailed. Even though one part of the group was late arriving he took the time to give a second tour of the cabin and surrounding lake. Speaking of which, the lake itself was beautiful and provided for hours of relaxation. The cabin was in good shape and accurately reflected the Host's description. Overall a great stay and would definitely book again.

    Simon2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We spent the long weekend in May at Wolfgang's home. The log cabin is built by the host! Wolfgang was very responsive and communicative. We enjoyed how secluded the setting was and how peaceful the lake is. Great hiking and clean lake made the trip great despite not so great weather. Overall, would be happy to return.

    Andrea2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful experience. Wolfgang's place is a little piece of paradise. A great place to unwind. The water is clear, not to cold and had very few boats. Just the sound of nature. The cottage/ house has all the conveniences of home in the middle of the bush. Wolfgang was accommodating and overall a great host. We will be back!

    James2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely one night stay at Wolfgang's cottage. The cottage has everything you need and the kids had a lot of fun jumping off the dock. Most of our time was spent in the water, which was refreshing, clean and deep. Although we were there only about 24 hours, it was just what we needed. Wolfgang was very accommodating and thoughtful in ensuring our stay was comfortable. Thank you!

    Mandy2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the cottage with another couple looking for some quiet time fishing, swimming and sitting by the camp fire at night. The property is very large and has a beautiful view of Buck Lake from the dock. The cottage only has one neighbor on one side and they are not even visible through the wooded area, making it very private and quiet. We absolutely loved our stay and hope to go back next year!! "Cottage Life is The Best Life" :)

  • Margot and her family were amazing hosts. Our first cottage experience couldn't have been better. Their house had everything we need from towels, toiletries, all the necessities and it was like home away from home. The dock, fire pit, bunkie, canoe, kayak and everything was perfect for our stay. We loved it and we would be back for our next summer vacation.

  • Lovely stay at the Cottage, was great to meet Margot and Paul at the beginning of our stay to help us get familiar with everything. We were mindful of our electricity usage with it being solar powered so went easy on the lights in the evening and didn't have any problems. Really well equipped kitchen and plenty of towels, shampoo etc. which was handy as we staying as part of a longer holiday in Canada so didn't want to bring too much. We stocked up on food at the supermarket in Sharbot Lake town which had a good selection of produce compared to the more local general supply stores. Beautiful surroundings and was great to get out in the canoe and kayak as well as just swimming in the lake. Would thoroughly recommend! Thank you Margot and Paul!

    Kathryn2016-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Five stars. The place is great for a getaway. Would stay here again in a heartbeat .

    Edmond2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Host was communicative and pictures are accurate. Great cottage kept clean without looking too much like a regular suburban home. Dock was in great shape and we went paddleboarding (brought our own). Barbeque also worked nicely and firewood was available. Other docks are visible from the end of this property's dock but this is pretty normal for cottage country. Did not have any problems with solar power even though it was cloudy for our stay ... but we did abstain from hairdryers, tv, and microwave. Lots of games and other diversions provided. Would stay again!

  • We had an excellent time at this cottage !!! Very clean, spacious and water is so clean to swim. We did not had any issues with the Solar Panels. Canoe , Kayak, Dock all are in excellent condition. Cottage is situated in a quiet spot of the lake thus we enjoyed it a lot. we slept at the private loft without any issues. kitchen is well equipped with all the amenities. we didn't turn on the TV or played any board games ( Paul showed us lots of games ) as we spent most of the time by the dock. Used the Propane BBQ for most of our food. Beds are soft and comfy Note - Place is listed as 1.5 Toilets and one of them is a Compost toilet and i loved it Overall no issues at all and will book this cottage again :)

  • Margot and Paul gave us a very warm welcome at the cottage, which is absolutely beautiful - the pictures don't do it justice. The lake has a real wow factor so we spent much of our time swimming in it or relaxing beside it. The cottage is open plan yet cosy, with a real back-to-nature feel about it giving us a proper retreat from our working lives.

3,000 sq-ft log home on 1,400 ft of waterfront, that is a mix of kid-friendly beach and natural beauty. This "house on the lake" is a 15 minute drive from quaint country restaurants and shops, LCBO, groceries, mini-putt and ice cream parlour.
The cottage is located in Arden, ON on Buck Lake, part of the Salmon River waterway. The lake attaches to 2 other lakes and is unpopulated and VERY private. Renters have access to a canoe, three kayaks and a pedal boat. There is a motor boat docked, but it is not included in rentals.
15 minute drive from the cottage is the village of Sharbot Lake, ON. On Hwy 7 as you enter Sharbot Lake you will find a Petro Canada that has fuel, groceries, and pretty much everything else under the sun. It is a hardware store, grocery store, and great country everything store. You will also find directly on Highway 7 an LCBO, Beer Store and Subway. If you turn onto Hwy 38 into Sharbot Lake, there is a fantastic public beach, many small restaurants, a full grocery store, pharmacy and Royal Bank. Great visit to play mini-putt, play on the kids play structure, visit the public beach, have a meal out or grab an ice cream.
  • Dan is a very attentive host. His communication before and while we were at his cabin was great. We spent 6 nights in the end of December/beginning of January with our family. Unfortunately it happened to be an extremely cold week (-30's!) and Dan was great about making sure we had sufficient wood and oil to heat the place. The cabin itself is very spacious, with more than enough room for our family of 7. The pictures don't accurately reflect that the cabin is a "work in progress" - however it is set up sufficiently for living. The place was not as clean as I would expect for a rental (clutter, stray socks, dirty kitchen and bathroom) but there are cleaning supplies available for those who have a higher standard. The place is well stocked - sufficient bedding and towels, and the kitchen has all the dishes and utensils you would need for a week. The location is beautiful, especially in winter, and we had lots of space for family activities both indoors and outdoors. Overall, we had a great week with our family and enjoyed our stay.

    Jennifer2018-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a well stocked cottage on a pristine lake. The kitchen was very clean and had everything you could need. The trampoline, toys, and books were a huge value added and made a stay with 5 kids easier. The boats available for use were also a huge perk. Beds were comfortable, laundry was available, Dan communicated well and regularly, and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you so much Dan!

    Jamie2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Dan's place was the escape we were looking for. We rented for a whole week and enjoyed every minute! The cottage is just like the pictures and is perfectly situated on the lake. If you like to cook, the gourmet kitchen has everything you can think of. The outdoor BBQ was great too! From the fire pit to fishing off the dock and watching the sunset. Dan really has made his family cottage a welcome and inviting place to relax. We went as a couple and it was great! The cottage and property are perfectly suited for 8-10 people comfortably if you're thinking of going as a group. Thanks Dan and Family! We would definitely come back (Website hidden by Airbnb)

  • Dan was very easy to communicate with and was always quick to respond to any inquiries. We just landed from a 30 hour flight from Australia and this was the perfect setting to relax and enjoy time with family. The lake was tranquil and location private. Not far from amenities if needed. It was great to have a canoe and kayaks available to head out onto the lake and a BBQ for our meals. We had everything we needed and absolutely loved our stay.

    Marie2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was awesome and more suited for older children and adults. The property isn't really suited for families with younger children. We had 4 kids under 4 and found it challenging. All and all, we had a great week, Dan was nothing but hospitable.

  • Location was perfect for 5 days of kicking back and relaxing by the lake. Added bonus of the pedal boat, canoes and kayak. Fully equipped modern kitchen, so glad we stocked for the 5 days. Recommend a trip to Northbrook for groceries. Fishing of the Jetty was fun and caught lots of fish. Great spot for kids to explore and have fun away from technology!! Dan was really helpful with great communication.

This cottage is on a private lot and is directly across from crown land which means your view is 100% rock face and forest!! Best view on the lake!
  • The cottage was absolutely perfect. Right on the lake with a wonderful dock overlooking it. It was stocked with everything we needed. The cherry on top was that Landon was amazing with responding to questions. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

  • We were looking for a secluded and quiet cottage to enjoy a weekend away from city noises. Landon's place delivered beyond our expectations! Landon was one of the best hosts I have had the pleasure of communicating with and he was very facilitative!

  • Place was perfect! Had everything we needed, right on the lake, beautiful view, didn't meet host, but communication was great! Would definitely stay again and recommend!

  • Great place! Cant ask for a better cottage weekend. Tons of room, excellent communication and a perfect place to get away and have a good time.

  • We were looking for a secluded private area to escape for a couple days. Landons lot offers exceptional privacy and a great atmosphere for families or adults! Cottage is easy to use and cozy. He had everything you could think of ready for us...Would stay here again!

    Chris2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a great place to stay. Truly wonderful, quite and secluded for some good family time. Landon was very helpful in providing the details to make it a great stay.

  • This was my second time staying at this property as my friends and I loved our first experience so much! This time around I had a hard time organizing my friends but Landon was super patient, cooperative and made sure I was able to have a relaxing time even when some of the plans fell through! An unavoidable issue happened with the fridge but Landon gave us a very fair option to make up for it and made sure we were taken care of! Plus he was amazingly fast at communicating with us while we were up there! Can't beat this view and the amazing lake! One tip: make sure you bring lots of bugspray and after bite as the black flies can get pretty bad down by the dock and the mosquitoes at night, but the view of the stars at night is definitely worth the bites! Thanks for another awesome stay Landon!

  • We really enjoyed the private bunkie in the woods. We were there only for one night and unfortunately the weather conditions at our time of arrival were not perfect (it was raining hard and already quite cold). But even though these external conditions weren't the best, we still really enjoyed our stay. This is a very unique accommodation! The bunkie is, as described, private! You are in the middle of nature, and it's hard to describe the sense of peace this brings on. There literally is nothing but trees around your bunkie. Right outside the bunkie is a tap, for your own water supply. John even build a campsite in front of the bunkie, with logs to sit on. John provides wood for the campfire (and at a very reasonable price too). The interior of the bunkie is very cosy and the bed is comfortable. Extra blankets were also provided, which was good because the night was getting quite cold when we were there. The bathroom is near the bunkie and John really took care of every detail. This bunkie in the woods and the bathroom are really what you would call: glamping! There are shampoos and shower gels in the bathroom and it was very clean. John was a very nice host, he was helpful and very kind. He really worked hard to make this a nice place, with the hiking paths around the bunkie site and the map of the area he provides. Like written above, we were unlucky with the weather, but still had a great day here. Imagine how great this place would be during better weather!

  • Suuuuuch a great stay! Adorable place. Lovely people. Loved it so much I already booked another week here. Can't wait to go back.

  • My sister and I had a great stay. It was the perfect getaway from the city. Very clean, and well maintained. John is very friendly and thorough host. He anticipated and accomodated all our needs. We had planned on picking some edible wild mushrooms but were worried about poisoning. He gave us a bag of mushrooms that he had picked himself which made us feel at home :) We also appreciate him giving us a late checkout. We had a one day trip and got there around 4 on Saturday. He kindly offered we stay longer on Sunday. Make sure to bring warm sleeping bags and heavy blankets. Nights are still cold in May. Don't forget bug spray. Please be mindful of the place. You will want to go back :)

    Nina2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • John's place was the perfect getaway from the chaos of the city. We enjoyed having a bonfire under a blanket of stars at night, watching a beaver play in the spring fed pond, walking on trails on John's property and finally coming home to a comfy bed at night. We went to sleep with the sounds of the frogs and last birds chirping. We would definitely visit again. This is perfect for nature lovers who need to get out ofnthe hustle for a mini glamping experience.

    Caitlin2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! Kristina and her family were extremely accommodating and were ready to provide us anything we needed. The bunkie itself was adorable and set up very nicely. We also loved how it was a short drive to Bon Echo. We had the best time in the woods and would highly recommend this place to anyone who would like a private getaway in nature!

  • Only great things to say about this place! What a wonderful time we had. The location is great with more than enough room for bigger groups and the beach area is very well maintained. Beautiful for swimming! You can walk out into the water or swim to the floating dock and jump off from there! The cottage itself was very clean and so cozy. Exactly what you would want for a cute cottage getaway! With 3 rooms there is ample room for multiple couples or a family and it has the best look out over the lake to enjoy the beautiful sunsets! The hosts were the most welcoming people, made us feel right at home. Cannot wait to go back next year and enjoy this place again. Honestly just a great spot, I would recommend in a heartbeat!

  • The Stinson cottages sit on a beautiful lake and property! I stayed at the Cliff Point cottage with my family (6 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs). We all fit quite comfortably in the cottage, although it doesn't get much sun so the rooms get pretty cold, especially at night. The electric heater provided did warm up the main room and kitchen nicely though. The cottage itself is definitely dated but was still charming in its own way. Having a shared beach and campfire had its pros and cons as our cottage was furthest from the beach and fire pit so it didn't quite feel like our own space when we walked over to use the beach. However the other family renting the cottage right at the beach were SUPER nice and my niece and nephew had a great time playing with their kids! The property does offer several water activities for us to use (like row boats, a paddle board, water toys, etc.) so it was fun having access to those. And Bob (one of the owners) was super friendly and helpful upon check in! All in all it was a nice weekend! I think if we were to stay there again though, we would invite a few more families and friends so that we could rent all of the cottages on the property together so that we're sharing the space with people we know and feel completely comfortable with.
