  • Whatever the weather the view of the harbour and the estuary is beautiful. I recommend the walk or cycle ride over the railway bridge and up to the King George 3rd Inn by the toll bridge. Also the rib-ride on the estuary is amazing and if you have kids then the SUPing in the harbour is a must. The house is very quiet and yet close to the buzz of the harbour and shops and the beach. What more could you want?

  • Absolutely amazing AirBnB stay. The best accommodation we’ve found on AirBnB and i use it regularly. We had fast responses to queries with the owner, personal greeting and a few goodies to get us started like milk, bread and butter (Traditional welsh). We had two lovely nights here and the scenery is amazing. This venue is worth the money the owner is asking and when we return to the are we would not think about staying anywhere else. The WiFi and parking are convenient too. Thanks for a great weekend.

  • Caz was a fantastic host. Even though we checked in very late at night she was there to great us with a warm welcome. The apartment is gorgeous, spacious and very well equipped, and made our stay very comfortable. The wood burning fire is great and easy to use and the kitchen is well equipped for home cooking. The shower is fantastic, warm and powerful. The bedroom is is large with a comfy bed and good storage for clothes. The TV in the lounge even has a Netflix account on it which is a great feature. The location of the apartment could not be better. Great pubs, cafes and a beach are just outside the door. Caz also leaves a brilliant welcome pack with lots of useful information in, and some lovely treats for when you arrive.

Lovely bright modern one-bedroom holiday flat with open-plan kitchen, lounge, breakfast bar and outdoor seating area. Just two minutes from picturesque harbour and extensive beach. Immediate access to endless footpaths and cycle routes in Snowdonia.
This is our holiday flat and I live in Chester so we will arrange for you to pick up the keys from the key safe and operate independently though I will be very happy for you to call or text me with any queries. Sheets and towels are provided (two towels per person - 1 bath sheet and one hand towel). All heating in building is electric which is why there is no carbon monoxide alarm. There is an electric meter that I will put £ 25.00 in at the start of the week (or a pro rata amount) which is usually plenty but if you use more than that then you will need to top it up with meter key at the local newsagent (see blue striped file under TV for instructions)
Have a look at the photos and you will see how wonderful the flower-covered steps are up the hill onto Dinas Oleu are. Really lovely wandering around these winding stairways and fantastic views at the top. In the other direction there is a very picturesque harbour lined with a number of good cafes and just around the corner is an extensive sandy beach and sand dunes. All of this just a couple of minutes walk from the flat. Details of local cafes and restaurants are in blue striped ring-binder in the flat.

  • Excellent position in the centre of the town near to the beach and harbour, close to lots of cafes Etc. A good position for lots of local walks which we enjoyed.

  • The little flat was perfect for our stay in Barmouth containing everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. It was beautifully decorated in a seaside theme and was centrally located within easy walking distance to the town centre. The bed was absolute bliss, the best bed in our entire stay in Wales. The appliance information was an excellent idea as our appliances are a little different in Australia. Thank you.

    Wendy2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • communication was easy and the location and flat details were all spot on. A very cosy home. The shower was a little complicated for us, but we got there in the end. Debbie was always speedy with the conversations that we had and i would recommend Debbie's place to any couple.

    Julie2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, cosy bolthole with great host in the heart of Old Barmouth, just beneath the Steps. Perfect for couples (and singles), and well equipped. Great base for all the outdoorsy fun around Barmouth, Barmouth’s bars, restaurants, cafes and shops, as well as just relaxing indoors. Debbie was a wonderful host, providing lots of help, information and advice - about the flat, Barmouth, and things to do/places to go - before and throughout my stay. I would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

    Emma2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very straightforward booking with everything as described by the host. Very well decorated and provisioned flat in a great location with everything you could ever need for a great stay. We really enjoyed the steam shower and super comfy bed! If you don't feel like eating in, make sure you hit up the Mermaid fish and chip shop, best we've ever eaten!

This spacious 4 bedroom apartment sleeps 7-8 people. The living room is on the 2nd floor of the terrace with panoramic sea views. The kitchen and back bedroom look out at Snowdonia National Park. The kitchen has washerdrier and dishwasher. We are across the road from dunes and beach, yet a short walk to the train station and the High Street. We have Wi-Fi and TV. We welcome well-behaved pets. Normally we let Saturday to Saturday. Off-peak winter and spring we offer weekends from Friday.
We are just across the road from an European Blue Flag and Trip Advisor "Excellent" sandy beach with dunes. This flat is spacious. You can sit on swivel chairs in the bay window looking out at the sea. It's a big beach with safe bathing. Barmouth is in a great location with a beautiful estuary and one of Wales's biggest mountains, Cader Idris, on the far side. The hills behind the town are part of Snowdonia National Park, including the first ever National Trust site.

  • Lovely period property with all modern conveniences. Spectacular views of sea from lounge, you can sit for hours in the recliners in the window enjoying the coastal view. • Lovely place, really enjoyed or stay

    Tony2018-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is fantastic; much larger than we expected. There’s loads of great things available too – board games, jigsaw puzzles, DVDs, Books etc. – really helped make it feel like a home-from-home, rather than just somewhere to stay. Barmouth itself is lovely; where mountains meet the sea. Plenty to do in and around the town, particularly if the weather’s good. We have 2 young children (4 & 1) and found that several of the attractions we ended up visiting were a good 1-1.5 hours’ drive away – just something to be aware of when considering Barmouth as a base for your stay. By far and away the property’s biggest asset is the view from the living room window, looking out directly over the beach and across the bay. There is a TV but, if you’re visiting when evenings are light, you’ll likely never turn it on. We can’t recommend this place highly enough. This was our first trip to Wales and we all agreed we’d like to return, and if we choose Barmouth again we know where we’ll be booking.

  • Fantastic views from the lounge

    Aidan2018-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely flat in a great spot. Really well equipped, spacious for a family of six, we wanted for nothing. To drink your morning cuppa looking out over beautiful Cardigan Bay was unforgettable. Barmouth is a great little resort town with a fabulous beach but there is so much else to do should you want; Snowdonia is on the doorstep and everywhere you look are views to die for. Hugely recommended.

Friendly village setting with level walk to the beach in stunning Snowdonia, this one-bedroomed self contained apartment has off road parking, private entrance & is a 2 minute walk from the main line railway. Bus connections 5 minutes walk. Nearest pub under 5 minutes yet this is an idyllic spot with own private patio & views towards the sea. Dog friendly (max 2 dogs). All on 1 level with features to aid those with reduced mobility. NB: Step down from driveway then up 1 step to main entrance.
"Where the mountains meet the sea" describes this stunning corner of Snowdonia. A paradise for walkers wishing to explore the national park on our doorstep, stunning sandy beaches stretch for miles (and yes, there is a nudist beach allocated less than a mile from here) but did you know there is an airfield offering pleasure flights in the neighbouring village of Llanbedr? The countryside here is simply breathtaking: panoramic vistas on Moelfre, the pudding-basin hill overlooking Dyffryn Ardudwy and natural woodlands heaving with mosses, oaks and glacial boulders. A significant proportion of buildings are built from huge blocks of local stone and Welsh slate. Within the village are ancient burial chambers, churches dating back many centuries, a brand spanking new art gallery as well as 2 cafes, 2 pubs, 2 convenience stores, a fuel station & 2 garages; even 2 forms of public transport: buses and trains! We are, guess what? A 2 minute walk from the railway station! With so much going on you wouldn't believe how quiet it is in our peaceful annexe.
  • Linda's place was fantastic. Great location, great amenities. She and her husband are SUPER flexible and accommodating. It was clean and we had more than enough of everything we needed. She really goes out of her way to make everything perfect for you. From sourcing food and shopping locations to making sure I had wellies. Great hosts! If you come to Snowdonia, BOOK HERE! I can't say enough about this place.

    Lisa2018-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic, can’t fault it. Great location for visiting Snowdonia. The annex was lovely and clean.

    Stewart2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This gorgeous property is a relative “ tardis”! From the photographs on the site I was expecting a petite, compact cosy cottage, gosh was I wrong! Cosy, yes, warm, yes and very inviting but certainly not small! It has a superb kitchen which is fully equipped including an excellent oven/hob, microwave and washer. You can clearly see the sea from the kitchen window. There is a large light, bright lounge with a full size dining table! But, the star of the show, for me anyway, is the big bathroom with a fabulous double walk in shower which even has a seat for those less able to stand for long. The cottage is quiet and peaceful, 24/7, in fact, you don’t hear anything at all. Near neighbours? What neighbours? ! Don’t do what we did though when we didn’t set the alarm, we didn’t wake up until 11:00am! If you want to get away from it all and yet still need good quick road links then this is the place. Barmouth ten minutes away, Porthmadog twenty minutes or so. Wonderful hosts, Linda and Andrew, nothing is too much trouble.... There if you need them, just allow you to enjoy your stay. Despite the awful wind and rain we has a fabulous stay. We couldn’t find fault with anything at all, except, that we didn’t stay for long enough! Next time........

    Michael2018-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place was spacious, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. It felt very homely and was a great base from which to explore the surrounding area. Linda and Andrew were really friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying at Linda's place and hope to visit again sometime in future.

    Simon2018-08-31T00:00:00Z

  • Clean and comfortable and excellent location. Will definitely return.

    Faye2018-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really clean, and very warm, and there is lots of hot water. There are 2 clean white towels per person, and the bed linen was very clean. It was the cheapest place in the area, but the location was BRILLIANT, the walk from the door by the on-site river was lovely, the perfect length for walking the dogs before heading out for the day, (about an hour) and there are 3 variations of the walk to try. The horses were friendly, the sheep in the garden nearby were so cute, coming over to try to sniff our dog, and apparently they have some rare birds in the woods there too! There is a folder of information in the house, and they are ok if you are arriving really late after work and sort out where you can get the keys from if you are going to be too late to be greeted by them, which we really appreciated as then we weren't rushing but just got there when we could. They have just taken the place over this year, so the décor is old fashioned, but they have everything you need and are cheap and clean, so we could live with the old fashioned carpets and bedlinen patterns. The people running it are lovely, friendly and approachable and readily stopped and chatted to us and told us good places to go. We would go back there, because even though the décor is old fashioned, they are the cheapest and its got everything you need in a really great location, near all the good tourist places. I think they said they had just bought new pillows etc which was also nice!

  • Had a wonderful week staying here. Excellent location with excellent sea views from the bedroom and living room. The flat is decorated stylishly with the original brickwork on show. The check in was very easy and the hosts were very easy to contact when I wanted to extend my stay by a day and got a quick response. I frequently visit Barmouth as a base to do lots of activities around snowdonia national park and I will definitely be using this flat in the future.

Our place is in the stunning Snowdonia National Park with outstanding views of the Mawddach estuary and the Rhinog mountains. The poet William Wordsworth called it “the sublime estuary”. We offer self-catering accommodation on our top floor with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay, and of course, the great outdoors on your doorstep.
The recently-refurbished flat is on the second floor above the owners' accommodation consisting of a hall/landing, three bedrooms, kitchen/diner, sitting room and bathroom. It is accessed via the main staircase through the owners' accommodation; there is no door separating the owners' accommodation from the flat. However, guests have commented that once on the top floor, the space feels entirely their own. The sitting room and two bedrooms have the estuary view, whilst the third bedroom and kitchen have views south across the Cader Idris mountain range.
There are amazing estuary and mountain views directly from the house. It is an area of outstanding beauty.
  • Rien à redire tout a été pensé pour que rien ne manque et que votre séjour soit parfait. Sue est une hôte très agréable, à la fois discrète et disponible dès que vous avez besoin d'un renseignement.

  • We loved our stay at Herongate. Beautiful location, with lovely walks into Barmouth or up into the hills and mountains. The views from the house were stunning. Slept like a log for the whole weekend. Sue was a very friendly and helpful host - happy to chat and help but also giving us enough space to feel comfortable in her home.

  • A stunning location from which to explore the mawddach estuary and the coast, with easy access to Barmouth on foot/bike/train via the bridge. Everything in the flat is very well thought out and tasteful. Two of the bedrooms have sweeping views of the estuary and the third a lovely view of the back end of Cadair Idris - what more could you want?

    Mair2015-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing find. The views are stunning and my children had such a good time. The perfect place to explore Wales, from Snowdon to Barmouth and beyond. The views from the home are so stunning no picture can explain, and the walk across the Barmouth Bridge starts a really great day out. Sue was very helpful and friendly. Would stay again!

  • We really enjoyed our stay with Sue, who was a very welcoming and helpful host. There ARE amazing estuary and mountain views - and we were thankful for the lovely weather during our stay that meant that we did get to see them! The flat had all that we needed, and was well furnished and a lovely place to come at the end of the day - it was clear that it had been planned well, and there was good thought and attention to detail. It is hidden away a little, but that was part of the appeal, and anyway, our Sat Nav got us there okay! Our group (of a young family and grandparents) had a great stay, and have come away with lovely memories. We loved our stay there and hope to come back again!

    Laurence2015-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Well appointed flat on the third floor of a large elegant house overlooking the estuary. Great for kids who can go out and play on the nearby rope swing, and who can manage the walk over nearby Barmouth bridge (about 30mins house to beach).

    Meave2018-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sue was very helpful in responding to any questions I had before the booking and after we had booked and made us feel very welcome. The flat is in a great position right on the estuary and very close to the mawddach trail which is great for biking and walking. The flat provided very good accommodation and suited our needs very well with our 3 kids split between two in a nice room with bunk beds and the older one in a double bedroom facing the back of the house whilst we had a bright and airy double room looking out over the great views of the estuary. I'd very much recommend the accommodation, location and area.

Originally, Barmouth was a tiny hamlet built almost entirely on the rock over-looking the river mouth and frequented by pirates. The sea receded, access improved and a small fishing and ship building industry grew. In the 19th. Century the railway came and Barmouth and almost immediately it embraced tourism and expanded. Surrounded by The Snowdonia National Park, Barmouth is ideally situated for whatever type of holiday you are looking for. Whatever you are into: fishing, surfing, kite boarding, sailing, mountain biking, bird watching, painting, landscape photography or horse riding, there are endless scenic places to explore. Barmouth has two public astro turf tennis courts, a basket ball pitch and skateboard ramp. Situated on the edge of the Snowdonia national, Barmouth was awarded the Green Coastline award for its clean beach environment and water. There is a great selection of shops eateries and pubs. The mountains for roaming are very close, plus numerous lakes and rivers close by. If you prefer a guided walk the annual walking festival at Barmouth held in September is popular every year. Barmouth has a sunny west-facing sandy beach. Don't miss the spectacular sunsets over the bay. From early Spring through till Autumn, dolphins and porpoise can be spotted close to the shore, an amazing sight to see! It’s not unusual to see them on a daily basis in pods of up to 20. There is level access to the town where there are supermarkets, shops, bistros. You will find the most glorious ten mile expanse of sandy beaches from Harlech to Barmouth. Remember to bring your bikes, the cycle routes are fantastic and Coed-y-Brenin has some very interesting daredevil paths to concur. Visit quaint villages such as Llanbedr, the gateway to Shell Island and Llandanwg with its Celtic church in the sand dunes. Just a few miles North is the historic town of Harlech with its magnificent castle and golf course. Don't miss a trip to Llanfair slate mines where "The Last Knight" was filmed, learn how hard the colliers of Yesteryear worked. Portmeirion village, just 30 mins drive is gorgeous, (the Italian style village where The Prisoner was filmed). Barmouth certainly has a lot to offer, with an attractive and lively Harbour area; spectacular scenery especially The Mawddach one of the most beautiful estuaries in the world; birthplace of The National Trust and a walkers paradise. The Barmouth Bridge, built by Brunel. You must walk over it and enjoy the views. The bridge doubles as a footpath & cycle route giving spectacular views up the estuary towards Cader Idris. Queen Victoria once stopped her train to admire the view! One the way back stop to eat at The Last Inn, Bistro Burma or Davey Jones Locker are particularly good. The town hosts 4 festivals. In July there is Country & Western and a Kite Flying Festival. 1st. week in September there's an Art Festival and for 9 days around the 3rd. week there is a very popular Walking Festival catering for all abilities. The local Dragon Theatre holds events throughout the year but the most popular is a Jazz/Soul/Folk evening held every 4th. Friday in a cabaret setting.

  • This is a very spacious apartment on the ground floor of a victorian i.e. very high ceilings, large rooms etc. The main living room and kitchen is enormous and we loved the decor - there's been plenty of attention to detail. It is in excellent condition and very clean. We couldn't believe what we got for our money compared to the equivalent accomodation type in Devon or Cornwall. Although there's no dedicated parking, this was never a problem as it's not on a main road and there was always a space very close. Although on a slight hill, it's not that steep but has a great view over Barmouth and the beach and the footpath up the hill to some excellent scenic walks is right outside the house. If you like walking, as well as the aformentioned local walk, the rest of Snowdonia is right on the doorstep and we did the beautiful Cader Idris (a classic horseshoe ridge & 3rd highest peak in Wales), which can be seen from Barmouth harbour. Okay, so Barmouth has some of the usual tackiness associated with a UK seaside town but the kids love it and there's plenty of beautiful parts to explore too (the walk across the viaduct/foot bridge across the estuary is adorned by the peaks and well worth it). We normally take our stay-cations in Devon and Cornwall but we'll definitely be back. We had all the same beautiful coastline but with peaks too!

    Pete2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful property to stay in. Not only do the pictures justice to the property, it truly felt like a home away from home. From the very warm welcome we received upon arrival, to the spacious property itself, we couldn't have asked for more. With 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as well as a spacious kitchen and a spacious living room this property is unusual big for a maximum of 4 people and means you get a lot of value for your money. The original victorian era ornaments in the ceiling were an unexpected surprise but add to the charm of the property. Yes, the property is on a slight slope but after a couple of days you don't realise it anymore. While there is no dedicated parking space we never had a problem finding one. As shops, the ocean/beach, walking trails and the train station are all only a few minutes walk away you will hardly need your car anyway. Anyone looking for a property in Barmouth for up to 4 people should take this property into consideration. I highly recommend it and plan to visit again one day.

  • Nice place , very good view. Access is a bit difficult because of the metal staircase and the narrow corridor . Rooms are big as well as the beds. Kitchen is very good equipped. Good shops in the city and really good access to town center. The house it's self needs a bit more attention, a lot of dust everywhere. It was a good place spend 4 days.

  • It was our first trip to Barmouth and what a beautiful place to stay it has everything from as people mention the tacky amusement rides and slots to the mountains meeting the sea and the views are fantastic Kirstie's apartment could not be anymore central in the town the apartment is lovely and clean and the pictures do not do it justice to how spacious it is the parking is easy and without any doubt I would recommend staying here thanks Kirstie

  • Fantastic property, really enjoyed our stay for new year. Thank you for the tips on local walks and the NYE recommendations. Really central location and our hosts went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay!

  • Central, well equipped, spotlessly clean and much bigger than the photos suggest. Perfect for our party of 4 but would very comfortably sleep 8. The extra personal touches from Kirstie added to our enjoyment and we would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

  • We had a very nice and enjoyable stay. The house is a few meters from the beach in the centre of the beautiful village of Barmouth. It is furnished cutely and provides a nice living room to spend time together and three beautiful bedrooms. Kirstie was very responsive and helpful. We didn't encounter any problems!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our November short break in this fabulous house in a first rate location. The house was so warm and comfortable we hardly noticed the miserable weather. Clean, comfortable and right in the centre of Barmouth, the house was just perfect.

    Paul2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • The house is in a fantastic location, right in the heart of Barmouth and you can see when the tide is in or out. Very clean and tidy and every thing you could need, home from home. When we arrived there was tea, coffee and milk waiting for us. Also a home made lemon drizzle cake, which went down a treat after our 4 hour journey. Fantastic communications with Kirstie, after we changed our plans around bringing our dogs. A really great house and location to spend time with the family

    Tom2017-08-19T00:00:00Z

  • Great accommodation. Spacious flat, with really outstanding views. The Host is very quick to respond to any queries, fantastic communication. The spot itself is definitely more beautiful then it seems set against a beautiful backdrop, waking up to seaside views, close to all the shops and local amenities of the town. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • The flat is very spacious, with the high ceilings and detail of grand homes of another era. Though a bit worn, it is charming, and the views over the harbor from the parlor, dining room, and the two front bedrooms on the second floor are spectacular.

  • Bod Idris is a true gem of a property in a location you can only dream of. The rooms are big and spacious and the views are simply spectacular. Nick is a great host who is very quick to respond and also very thoughtful about his guests needs. It's the perfect place to stay if you want to spend time with friends and family but with the amazing shops and pubs of Barmouth on your doorstep.

  • Absolutely fantastic property, comfortable & beautiful interior with plenty of space, fully equipped with everything you could need. WiFi was an unexpected plus, as was the Ice Dispenser!! Leads out to a stunning views across the River bay. The town is also looking lovely, decent mix of shops, pubs & eateries, all within an easy 5min walk! Really surprised how helpful the host was with our check in, instructions & communication before hand. Even got a few tips on places to see. Would definitely recommend!

  • This house is in such a fabulous location. The views are stunning - panoramic views of the estuary - every day in a different light and the changing tides - and of course the wooden bridge. We were blessed with hot sunny weather which made our holiday perfect. We loved the house, the walks in the surrounding area, the town of Barmouth and everything else there is to do there. Nick was a lovely host - both welcoming us and being there when we left and he was very helpfully on the end of the phone if we needed him. If you are planning a holiday with toddlers, elderly people or those who find it hard to walk, please note there are in excess of 15 uneven steps up to the front door from road level. There is no hand rail for most of them, and there is nothing to stop toddlers - or dogs - from falling or running down onto the main road. Thankfully our dog is elderly so didn't try and escape, but my parents (90) struggled every day with the steps, both going up and down.

  • Lovely property with an outstanding view. Just like on the website. Easily accommodates 7 to 8. There were 3 of us and we rattled around a little. Barmouth a very short walk, even in the rain. Highly recommended. Just check the weather forecast.

  • The host canceled this reservation 114 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • Just returned after a great week. Occupied the ground floor flat which easily accommodated eight people. The two front bedrooms were really spacious with amazing sea views. All the beds were extremely comfortable and clean. There was ample seating on the ground floor again with stunning sea views. Parked in resident's lay-by opposite the property. Within easy walking distance to harbour, town and beach. Good selection of places to eat nearby. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.

  • We spent a lovely 3 days over a sunny bank holiday weekend here. The communication with Iain from Lounge Holidays was great. The owners of the apartment (Vick and Mary) were so lovely and welcome and the thoughtful touches really made the trip. The apartment was a lovely space, very clean, tidy and well equipped. It’s right in the heart of Barmouth above The Original Rock Shop. We would definitely recommend the place and would love to stay again. Thank you!
