  • We had a great stay at Neil's lodge. It's a lovely place with really good facilities and the hot tub is fantastic! Neil was a great host, he gave us lots of recommendations of things to do, booked restaurants for us and provided breakfast and some lovely welcome chocolates and cava. We would highly recommend staying here, we would definitely come back!

  • Neil's place is an excellent choice for a relaxing break for both couples and families. Magnificent and luxurious decorated place with outstanding and breathtaking sea views.. The outdoor hottub offered us calmness and romantic mood under the starlights of the night sky. The location is perfect for exploring the small outstanding beautiful villages of the area. Host was excellent in communication with us and tried to accommodate all our needs despite the small notice. I wish I could have stayed longer...

    Eva2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had info sent to us as soon as we had booked which we really liked as we were in the booking mode! Was great that Neil sent this over so quickly as we had time to look everything over and plan not just dribs and drabs of info. When we arrived we were promptly met and shown around, lots of info but very relaxed all informative. The lodge is beautiful very well designed and decorated, be sure to use the hot tub when the the sunsets it's really beautiful. Well equipped kitchen and all the mod cons, already recommended to others and will definitely stay again. Thanks

  • We had a great time time at Surf Bay. The lodge was perfect! Modern yet cosy and plenty of room for a one bed. Fully equipped kitchen, really nice bedroom and even better bathroom! ...and then there's the jacuzzi... day or night, rain or shine, what better place to relax and enjoy some wine with some one special :)) Top marks also to Neil and his son, who could not have been better hosts from the moment we booked, to the time we left. Surf Bay Lodge is highly recommended as a base to explore North Devon.

    James2016-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Neil made us feel incredibly welcome upon arrival. He had placed a yummy box of chocolates on the table for us which was very thoughtful. Neil was an excellent host and was very keen to make sure we were okay and check to see if we needed anything! He even went out of his way to provide us with recommendations for the local restaurant Moran's - absolutely delicious and a beautiful location in Westard Ho! My only MASSIVE disappointment was that we didn't have time to stay longer... Thanks Neil - what a beautiful home you have.

'A little slice of heaven at Heavenly Heavitree! A sweet little two bedroomed cottage with a sitting room and kitchen that was the original coach house in the garden of a Georgian Wing where I live. Cosy and well decorated with original features and widespread use of the garden with table and chairs. The garden is dog proof if you wish to bring your dog.
It's a quiet, self contained cottage with a sofa, tv, wifi, little kitchen with a Nespresso machine, toaster, microwave, a fridge, cooker and dishwasher. There's also access to a washing machine and tumble drier and plenty of storage for bikes in the garage and space to wash out wetsuits and hang them up to dry. There's a bathroom with a bath with an integrated shower and two bedrooms, one a double (2 meters long by 1.55 wide) and another bedroom with standard size bunk beds. Both rooms have room wardrobes and look out over the garden. There's an iron and ironing board and a hairdryer for you to use. There's a sofa bed in the sitting room.
Pilton is a lovely unspoilt part of Barnstaple with beautiful architecture and some ancient buildings. It has two pubs, an Indian takeaway and a very popular fish and chip shop. It is within easy walking distance of the town which has a fantastic theatre, cinema and lots of lively bars, restaurants and independent shops.
  • A very cute 2 bed cottage with enough sleeping space for 6. I would suggest that a family of 4 would be the ideal number though! The cottage was immaculately presented and we were welcomed very warmly by Katie and her family. There was a lot of good info on local and regional attractions in the cottage as well as a "favourites" folder. Breakfast was provided in the form of bread and butter. Tea, coffee and milk were also in place throughout the stay. The kitchen setup is perfect for a very casual dinner with everything you need to prepare and cook simple dinners. The master bedroom upstairs was very tastefully presented with a super comfy king sized bed. There were cushions and pillows galore! The second bedroom contained a bunk bed - ideal for 2 kids. Bathroom again, nicely presented with an awesome shower. Location wise was perfect. A 15 minute stroll into Barnstaple with all it's shops or a 5 - 10 min drive to the local supermarkets. Private parking was off street. I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting to explore the north Devon region!

    Samuel2017-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Heavitree. The location is great for exploring the all of the nearby beaches, and Katie was very friendly and hospitable. She went out of her way to accomodate our little boy. Highly recommended.

  • Katie and her family were very welcoming and gave us some great places to visit and a list of places to eat. Heavitree cottage was a lovely warm and cosy stay with evey thing needed to make our stay comfortable - it's set in such a lovely place with everything on the doorstep, walks beaches pubs and high street. We hope to stay again and would like to say thank you for the lovely fresh bread and the Saturday morning newspaper.

  • It was a pleasure to meet Katie and her husband. They were very friendly and helpful. The house was just as described, very cosy. The location is great, 10 mins walk from Barnstaple and 20 mins drive to the sea. I'd highly recommend this home, we will be back 🙂

  • A cottage with character (and a very handy dishwasher) set in a pleasant garden in which we sat out in the sun. Would definitely like to visit again.

  • Katie made us very welcome / great communication all the way. She is a very warm person & was sensitive to our needs .Sadly we had to leave earlier than booked due to illness. The accomodation was comfortable & great to have use of garden. Heavitree is so well placed for all the beautiful delights of north Devon. We hope we can go again. A rural, cosy, detached barn conversion 20 minutes from Barnstaple, next to our 16th century home and gardens. The barn benefits from it's own central heating, double/ twin bedroom and bathroom, living room, private patio area and use of the grounds.
Rosehill Barn - is set in the grounds of a medieval hall house surrounded by lovely gardens and an orchard and has a timeless, peaceful atmosphere; there is very little to disturb you other than birdsong and the mooing of cows in the surrounding fields. The open plan living room has oak flooring and is furnished with a comfortable sofa and chair, TV and DVD player, a pretty dining table and some simple kitchen equipment with microwave, table top hob, small fridge, toaster and kettle. The double bedroom has a large built in wardrobe, and the door opens out into the garden which contains many roses which give the barn its’ name. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi bath with shower over and a limited selection of toiletries and towels will be provided upon arrival. The barn benefits from its’ own central heating and hot water system.
A unique rural property on the edge of a small North Devon village with easy access to the market town of Barnstaple and the beautiful North Devon countryside and coast.
  • A lovely quiet trip away after Christmas. Was just what we were looking for to get away from it all. Lovely converted barn and extremely cosy. Recommended to couples looking for a few days away in scenic Devon. Thanks for a pleasant stay!

    Ashley2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our first holiday with our six week old baby could not have been better. The barn is located in a super romantic area and Jane welcomed us very warmly. We were only half an hour away from the surf and had a quality stay for a very good prize during half term. The best Devon experience so far. It felt like a secret place to us, as we don't understand why everyone is paying more to be somewhere packed like sardines. This place is absolutely pleasing for the eye and gives you the right atmosphere to calm down and relax. What do you want more on holiday?

    Laura2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely private spot in a beautiful area. Clean, welcoming and good communication

    James2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 4 nights at Rosehill Barn. Jane and Brandon were very relaxed and welcoming, the gardens were beautiful and the barn was excellent. A stunning barn conversion. Our dog loved it and was the most relaxed she has ever been when we have stayed in places on holiday. Great location for getting places if you are confident with country lanes but even staying at the cottage is lovely as its so peacful and relaxing. We would definitely like to come again.

    Heather2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in the barn - it's remote but situated amongst a few other houses, with a lovely garden with beautiful views, and Jane was very welcoming in encouraging us to use the garden. The barn was really well equipped in every respect - the kitchen area is minimalist and tucked away in a neat cupboard, but has everything you need to produce a decent meal (be aware no oven though). The bed was super comfy and the furnishings were new and really tasteful. Enough toiletries (shampoo, shower gel etc) for a day or two are provided, if you forget your own. We got no phone signal or internet connection, but that was fine by me! There were lots of lovely walks on the doorstep. Overall, I thoroughly recommend it for a peaceful, relaxing stay.

    Camilla2017-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great weekend away, Jane was a lovely host making sure we had everything we needed. Really nice touches supplying dog towel and treats(Dave loved the homemade biscuits) and the barn was lovely and comfortable.

    Sarah2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and Brandon gave us a very warm welcome at Rosehill Barn. It's a fantastic little hideaway set in the beautiful gardens of Hill Farm. We were blessed with gorgeous weather to explore Exmoor and the coast. The barn is amazing and perfect for the two of us and the dog- it has everything you need and all finished to a very high standard. The 'kitchen in a closet' is great. Our hosts were very dog friendly which meant that Lucy the terrier had a great time too. We would love to visit again- very peaceful and relaxing!

    Katie2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was definately the best Airbnb we have ever stayed in. Jane and Brandon were fantastics hosts, they made us feel so welcome. The cottage is outstanding and was super clean and well equiped. The dresser kitchen unit is superb and perfect for the space with everything you need. We relished the peace and quite and beautiful gardens which were brilliant for our two spaniels Esme and Ivy, they made great use of the space and we later found out they especially enjoyed visiting Jane and her dogs! We would definately recomend Rosebarn and hopefully we will be able to stay there again.

  • What a amazing place to stay me and my girlfriend stayed for 2 nights over the weekend and we could not have asked for more! The cottage was decorated to a very high standard and all the furnishings are a very high standard. The welcoming and helpfulness of james and his mother have been more than we could ask for, the service has been top notch. The hot tub was privet and very clean. We loved the small torches such as having good quality toilet and kitchen roll and milk when we arrived. the attention to the small details made it for us. Grate wifi and sky tv as well as a Bluetooth speaker came in super handy as well as a washing machine and dryer. We are definitely planing another trip down for the future. Thank you.

The views over Instow were stunning and a short walk to the seafront. Just perfect for walking the South West Coast Path!

  • We had such a great time with Jackie and Graham, they're perfect hosts. It's a pity we couldn't stay longer. They have a beautiful and very clean house and our room was exactly like it's on the picture. They were so helpful, when we had a car problem. We were really lucky it was happening at their place. Thank you so much, Graham and Jackie! We highly recommend this place, you will feel right at home!

    Beat2016-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie was very helpful from the initial enquiry through to us arriving. A lovely host. The property is modern, in a quiet setting with lovely views across the valley and estuary about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Instow (note - no cash point machines). Bedroom located on ground floor along with toilet and bathroom. These were modern and clean. In the bedroom, there was s fridge which was stocked with orange juice, bottled water, milk and a bottle of Prosecco (requested by us and kindly arranged by Jackie). The room also had a kettle with selection of tea (including green tea ), coffee and hot chocolate. The bedroom had ample storage and power points for phone chargers and laptops plus a small flat screen TV. We had breakfast in the morning, with selection of juices, cereals, toast, fruit etc. A truly wonderful and relaxing stay with great hosts.

  • We had a wonderful mini-moon at The Lodge, probably helped by a week of good weather! Caroline & Andy made us feel very welcome, and even offered to drop us off for dinner in Ilfracombe one night which was lovely. The Lodge is beautifully decorated, and is very spacious. We would recommend staying here.

    Rachel2016-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the Lodge over a weekend in February. Unfortunately the weather was slightly rainy on the Saturday but this definitely did not take it away from our trip. Caroline’s directions were really helpful to the Lodge. Just a little tip, the drive and road itself is very narrow in places! Caroline was there to greet us and showed us into the house where she had left a bottle of wine and scones. A lovely touch! Rather than bombarding us with what to do, where to go, house rules, etc. she directed us to a card and notebook containing such details allowing us to relax into our residence for the evening. She also offered us a lift to our restaurant the following night which was a lovely offer we took her up on. Her husband came up to the Lodge and lit the log burner for us. The log burner throws out sufficient heat and makes the Lodge feel very cosy but be sure to watch it or it will burn out. We found the hosts friendly and helpful during our stay. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking so if you are looking for a cheaper stay and enjoy the idea of home cooked meals, I would recommend doing some meals at home. The kitchen and living area is large and comfortable. Whilst we bought food for the stay, we did not think of buying cooking oil, fairy liquid or a washing up sponge. It would be helpful to provide these items for guests and would help protect the kitchen equipment. The Nespresso coffee machine was a brilliant extra and a novelty for us. The bed and White Company Linen is extremely comfortable. There was only one toilet roll in the bathroom and I think it is not too much of an ask to leave some more. Be mindful of drawing the curtains in the bedroom as the Lodge is not as secluded as depicted in the images. It is directly behind their main house. Whilst we didn’t find this an issue, it may be for others (Website hidden by Airbnb) would recommend staying here if you are looking for a quiet few days away in the countryside. The location is ideal for day trips to Woolacombe, Croyde and Ilfracombe. You can then retire to the Lodge for the evening with food, drinks and the fire. One tip Caroline gave us on our return was to drive through Exmoor National Park. If you have time, take this drive as the views are fabulous!

    Robbie2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was just splendid! The lodge was exactly as advertised: comfortable, tastefully decorated and perfectly equipped (the fire place would heat-up the lodge in a jiffy). The surrounding area is bliss with lots of nature walks and A+ restaurants a stone-throw away. Caroline and Andy are the best! Very attentive but discrete; one of the nicest hosts we've had. We're coming back soon! Jorge & Ellen PS: as a side note, we got engaged here! It was the perfect place for it.

    Jorge2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Lodge is a fabulous little home for a weekend away - beautifully designed and with everything thing you could possibly need. Amazing views of beautiful countryside from upstairs, and a real sun trap outside for warmer days. Caroline and Andy are really friendly and helpful too. I couldn't recommend this place more!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed in Susan’s as I was going to run the North Devon Marathon the next day in Woolacombe. Susan’s is a beautiful place, clean, tastefully decorated, spacious and quiet (just what I needed it to rest properly for the great day). I recommend Susan’s place to everybody. She was very friendly and made us feel like at home.

    Lidia2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was a wonderful host! The place is easy to find and in walking distance of pubs with good food. The room was very clean and comfortable, and we really enjoyed our stay.

    Sara2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Sue's private room for 4 nights and we had a great experience. As it was a surfing trip, the provision of space/water/drying area for wetsuits and related stuff was paramount and we were not disappointed! Sue was very accomodating and even on one occasion she brought all our stuff into the house to dry before the storm arrived and while we were out for dinner. The room was very clean and warm, it catches the morning sun which is great and the bed is very comfortable. The area is nice and quiet and there are 2 pubs within walking distance. All in all, we will visit again, hopefully soon!

  • Lovely stay at Susan's house. Really nice room with private entrance and private bathroom. Biscuits and tea and coffee were available in the room, and there was a small fridge too which was really handy. It was a lovely stay.

    Keri2016-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Susan's place was perfect. The flat was very spacious, the bed/pillows were so comfortable (always a key focus), and the property was easy to find and in a great location in a village with two decent pubs. The breakfast was very good and a really great, quality touch and exceeded expectation. We will definitely be back!

  • We had an absolutely lovely time spent at Claire's place .. we had a very warm welcome from Angus who brought us in showed us around our lovely little barn conversion and kindly offered to get us any supplies if we needed. the barn was really comfortable and had everything we needed. The outdoor area is a lovely little sun trap with a nice coal BBQ. Claire was also very helpful and friendly respecting our privacy so we just felt totally relaxed there. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

It is a lovely place to return to at the end of the day. Well placed in the town, the road is quiet but not far from shops, places to eat and public transport. Jane is a friendly, thoughtful and hospitable host. I recommend her and her property to anyone looking for a quiet, simple, comfortable place to retreat to.

  • Perfect peaceful well appointed hideaway! Jane was very kind about a number of things including flexible timings. The attention to detail really shows - from an array of snacks, fresh milk, maps of the neighbourhood etc- this place is gleaming & like me you're unlikely to want to leave. It worked well for a single but equally perfect for a couple

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Owly ‘Ouse. Simone and Kim were excellent hosts and made us feel extremely welcome in their property. The cabin was lovely and very cosy. The breakfast provided was perfect and use of the hot tub was a fantastic addition to our stay. The local area is very nice, and we would definitely recommend anyone looking to visit the area to stay with Simone and Kim at the Owly ‘Ouse.

  • Owly 'Ouse is a detached yet cosy place suitable to accommodate up to 2 person who love privacy. It is easily accessed by car and convenient to park car in front of the house. The place is clean, well decorated and equipped. In addition to coffee and tea, the host was generous in offering chocolate drinks and biscuits as well as supplying milk of preference. Moreover, wine glass, plates and cutlery were provided. The host and partner are friendly in sharing their travel experiences, including exclusive visiting information in Devon. We made the right choice to have breakfast from them and spent time chit-chatting. You might love to have your breakfast in their nice garden during summer time. It is safe even for solo female traveller as the host will make sure you're safety arrival into Barnstaple. If you love Owl, if you love to meet friends, you're most probably would like to stay here.

  • Wow what can I say. This was our first experience of airbnb and I was very apprehensive of sharing a stranger's home but I was absolutely blown away by this accommodation. Totally separate from owners beautiful home so we didn't feel we were intruding. In fact were still drink g back to Scotland and already planning our return trip. The little touches like welcome notes and little Easter eggs were very welcomed. We have even made a video if this little gem to show family back home. We were greeted at door like a long list friend by simonne and Kim was so friendly. The perfect hosts. As for the facilities if I could score 20 out of ten then I would. Fantastic place to visit and only 10 minute walk In to town.

Light and spacious bedroom with a kingsize bed. Use of a large, relaxing bathroom.
We have a deceptively spacious house in a bustling area of Barnstaple. Whilst staying with us you'll have access to a sitting room, snug, large open kitchen, laundry facilities, bathroom with bath and shower, a comfortable king size bed with wardrobe and chest of drawers.
Newport is a small but busy area in Barnstaple with a handful of independent stores, a pub and a few takeaway options too. Rock park offers walks by the river, a play area for children and quick access to the Tarka Trail.
  • By far the nicest place I have stayed through Airbnb with great hosts. Highly recommend.

Loved their welcome Hospitality and everything was perfect. slept trough the night and woke up ao refreshed. I haven't heard any noise from the road, and the back garden is beautiful. This is a lovely Victorian town house in the centre of Barnstaple, North Devon with excellent transport links, being a 2 minute walk from the main bus station and 10-15 minute walk from the train station. Perfect for families, a romantic break, or a get away with friends. Pets are welcome. Also within an easy drive to local beaches such as Saunton Sands, Croyde, Woolacombe and Instow, to name but a few. Barnstaple hosts a variety of restaurants, bars, entertainment and high street shops.
No. 6 is a charming little town house right in the centre of Barnstaple. With three generous sized bedrooms, it comfortably sleeps 5 people. The brand new boiler I have had fitted keeps the house lovely and warm through the central heating system. I've also just had a new 3 piece bathroom suite fitted (which is situated downstairs), with an over the bath shower. There is a small courtyard out the back providing some private outdoor space. The kitchen is bright and airy and offers cooking facilities, including a microwave, a washing machine, fridge, freezer and has a kitchen table for meals but can easily be used as work space if required. The lounge is cosy, with a TV that also has Youview for catch up TV. There is also access to unlimited Wifi.
Although my property is in the town centre, it is a relatively quiet location, with a one way street outside. Therefore, traffic is not heavy. It is a steady 5 minute walk into Barnstaple town centre which has a cinema, museum, leisure centre, indoor tampoline centre, and plenty of high street shops. A 5 minute walk from the house means you can join North Devon's famous Tarka Trail which is a delightful series of footpaths and cycle paths which is enjoyed by both locals and tourists. If you fancy an evening out, then there are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from, and as it is so close to the property, there is no need for a taxi, or a designated driver!
  • Great place to stay with all the extras that make it home from home.

  • We had a great weekend, the house is comfortable and clean, and Jennie is a lovely host

    Amy2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, beautifully decorated place. Close to the train station and the town center. Jennie was fantastic in making us feel welcome (she had tons of advice in a little notebook at home as well). Highly recommended!

    Ija2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jennie’s place is wonderful. Very clean, comfortable, spacious, warm and in a very convenient area of Barnstable. It is walking distance from the shops. Parking wasn’t a problem as Jennie very kindly provided us with two parking permits so we were able to park our cars not far from the house. There is also a paid for public car park round the corner from her house. Jennie was there to welcome us when we arrived. She had left us tea, coffee, bread, milk and eggs which was very thoughtful of her and very much appreciated. Jennie’s house is really lovely and very comfortable. We couldn’t fault it in any way. We would have no hesitation in staying there again on our next visit. Jennie - thank you for making our stay so comfortable and pleasurable.

    Dee2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best 2 night stay at Jennie's house. Jen is lovely, was there to meet us when we arrived, showed us around, and had supplied us with milk and tea bags, and brilliantly eggs, a delicious loaf of bread, and butter for breakfast the next morning. The house was very spacious for the 5 of us, very clean, tidy and warm, and had everything we needed for our stay. The shower is hot and powerful, and our youngest really enjoyed the deep bath. The house is perfectly situated in Barnstaple - a quiet location, but a quick walk to the shops, cafes and restaurants in town, and importantly with a quick exit out onto the ring road for trips to the beaches. I thoroughly recommend staying here, and we'd love to come back next year!

    Johnny2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Clean and comfortable, exactly as advertised. Plenty of room for a family of 4. It is in an excellent location, close to downtown and all amenities. The directions from the train station were excellent, and Jennie answered all questions promptly. We would definitely stay there again!

Great Lilly Cottage is an historic 2 bedroom barn conversion sleeping 4, recently renovated to a high standard and nestled in a peaceful and picturesque corner of North Devon. Close to famous surfing beaches and the rugged wilderness of Exmoor.
Located on our farm on the outskirts of the village of Goodleigh, Great Lilly Cottage is a perfect rural retreat; only a 15 minute drive to the white sandy beaches of Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Croyde, yet on the edge of Exmoor National Park. A perfect base to explore the whole of North Devon; whether you're into surfing or just scenery-spotting, coastal-hiking or horse-riding. Enjoy this peaceful rural setting that's only 5 minutes drive from the historic market town of Barnstaple, which has a wide range of amenities and tourist attractions. Great Lilly Cottage forms part of Great Lilly Farm where the owners, Kate & Ali live with their family and assorted menagerie including Pygmy Goats, Pigs and Chickens. The cottage is a 3 storey renovated barn with its own private parking and extensive & enclosed gardens - and being animal lovers, we happily accept well-behaved pets. Please note, although on 3 levels, the cottage is open plan with both bedrooms opening onto the central staircase.
  • We had an amazing time staying in the beautiful barn conversion Kate and Ali have done. They are fantastic hosts, the fridge was stocked with eggs and sausages from their farm while leaving us alone to enjoy our holiday. The barn conversion is finished to a really high standard and has everything you need. While we were there we had a couple of trips out and I would recommend Saunton Sands and Lynton.

    Ben2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a terrific place to get away from it all. The cottage is gorgeous and feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, whilst actually being only just outside Barnstaple. Kate and Ali were terrific hosts, with a lovely welcome and the offer of being on call should we need anything at all. We didn't, everything was spot on. Croyde Bay and Woolacombe Sands were only a short drive away for fab Autumn beach walks and the cottage is right on the doorstep of Exmoor and the North Devon coast. I'd love o get back there again soon.

    Niamh2016-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely brilliant week at this property. The cottage is beautifully presented and had everything we needed for our stay. The location is fab and we spent days on the wonderful beaches, Croyde was our favourite! Our hosts were super friendly and to be greeted with a cream tea was wonderful. Thank you for a lovely break!

    Holly2016-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely property, just perfect for my parents, my daughter and myself. The barn has been very thoughtfully converted and loved the touches like the Bose speaker, Cath Kidson radio and the scones, jam and clotted cream when we arrived. Despite it being November we managed to sit outside in the sun a couple of times and enjoy the two terraces and lovely views. Lovely walks along the country lanes, really feels like you are in the heart of the countryside but yet only 5 mins to the centre of Barnstaple. Had a great meal in the local pub, the New Inn at Goodleigh, best to book though. Kate and her husband were on hand immediately for anything we needed. Highly recommended.

  • We had a wonderful Christmas getaway made extra special with xmas tree/decorations and a cosy feel. We were welcomed with chistmas treats, bacon, sausages and eggs all from the hosts' farm - very yummy. The owners were very accomodating and avaliable to help at anytime if needed. The cottage was comfortable, exceptionally clean and had everything we needed for our xmas break including a well equipped kitchen. We would happily return in the future.

  • Ali was a great host, ready and waiting for us when we arrived (even though we were 1hr 30min late due to traffic!). The cottage was beautiful and was even better than expected. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend to friends and family. We might even be back next year! Thanks to both Kate and Ali!

Situated 2 miles from Barnstaple, nestled in a beautiful rural landscape. The annexe has a warm country feel to it and offers parking but is also a short walk to a regular bus service to Barnstaple and Lynmouth. The local pub (The New Inn) is 1 mile away in Goodleigh.
The annex is self contained and has 1 bedroom with a double bed, a fully equipped kitchen and dining area. There is space in the bedroom for a travel cot if travelling with a baby (we are happy to provide a cot upon request). There is a small outside area with a table and chairs for you to sit and relax in. It is a great sun trap and ideal for bbq's and is not overlooked from the lane, providing you with complete privacy. The lounge has a TV, DVD player and futon, unfolding to make a second double bed. There is a curtain that can be pulled across the doorway to create a private bedroom if the futon is used as a bed. DVD's, books and games are also provided for cosy nights in or wet weather days! The bathroom consists of a shower, sink and toilet. We offer off road parking for 1 car and parking on the lane for an additional car.
The area consists of beautiful rolling hills with stunning views across the valley overlooking woodland and farmland. The community is quiet yet really friendly. We are 2 miles from Barnstaple which is a wonderful little town offering a great variety of restaurants and cafes. It also has a cinema, swimming pool, a wide array of shops including the historic Pannier market. Barnstaple also boasts a number of parks and riverside areas to enjoy. A 20 minute drive will take you either to the glorious golden sandy beaches for a surf, swim, walk, kayak and ice cream or you can head East and explore the rugged moors. Taking in breath taking views and maybe even spotting the wild Exmoor ponies, long horn cattle and Red deer. In addition to this, the local pub 1 mile away (The New Inn, Goodleigh) is number one on trip advisor, it is a great place for dinner, tasting locally sourced products. You will need to book!
  • We had a lovely time at Emily's annexe. The cream tea was just above and beyond. Great location, near everything with everything you need!

    Joe2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • As my first foray on Air B'n'B I booked this little place about 10 days or so before New Year on a whim, and so glad I did ! Emily was super responsive when I first enquired as to availability. Arriving when she was not around was not a problem, she came and said hi and was really friendly and, as with others, provided a cream tea (warmed scones, mmmm) which was lovely. The accommodation was perfect for me in the middle of winter, it was warm and cosy, parked right outside. Comfy settee and bed after a day out in the elements. Close to town if you want civilisation, and plenty of great walking in the area, cracking walking along the coast path into Clovelly with hardly anyone else around. Just the head space I needed. Thanks Emily !

  • This was a great place to stay. A quiet self contained annexe that has enough room for one or two people. Emily the host was extremely accommodating, she let me hang up my wetsuit in a drying room and store my bike in the shed. A good location for the beaches and Barnstaple, I would love to return at some point.

    William2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is situated in a very peaceful and rural area. It is equipped with everything you need and Emily is more than accommodating.

    Dan2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The annexe was a lovely place to stay while my sister and I visited family. While it's quite small, for two people it has everything you need and is clean and tidy, and has an amazing view. Emily was a fantastic host, really friendly and with some great advice on getting around the local area.

    Melissa2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy little annex, perfect for two. Emily was very helpful and even helped reunite me with a pair of jeans I stupidly forgot to take home. The walks in the welcome folder are well worth a go, some spectacular views to be had at sunset!

    Jon2017-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely location with good routes to nearby beaches and country side walks. The apartment is very clean and has everything you need for a self-catering stay. Emily is a very welcoming and accommodating hostess with a lovely, relaxed and friendly manor, the cream tea upon arrival is very delicious too. Definitely a place to revisit.

  • This is the just a perfect place. It offered much more than I would have expected, it really is a home from home. The owners are just so lovely and you can't help but be relaxed here! 1000% staying again!

    Rebecca2018-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lynda was quite friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed having the space, the comfortable bed, the good sized tv and channel choices for the evening, the cereal choices and fresh fruit especially. The space was super comfortable for the two of us. There are basic amenities for making meals. The location was good for us for the places we wanted to get to. I should note that our (Hidden by Airbnb) maps sent us in the wrong direction on the A377 but Lynda was helpful in guiding us there. I had put in the postal code--maybe that was the problem. Everything in the house works well. We were happy that the shower stall was a good size and that the water pressure was very good. If I were back this way, i certainly would choose to stay here.

    Kamini2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about Lynda's place is just right . It's very comfortable , clean and relaxing . We found Lynda the perfect host , she was there to meet us and any questions she answered and had good local suggestions . Staying at this place is like going from home to home .

  • I had a lovely stay at Bay Tree House. It was very comfortable and clean, and Lynda was extremely helpful. She left plenty of breakfast things to welcome me and even gave me a lift to a local restaurant. I would definitely stay again.

  • Lyn was very welcoming and informative. The annexe was spacious, with many thoughtful touches.

  • This is a wonderful find! Extremely warm and welcoming hosts in a lovely well cared for annexe. It was perfect, cannot fault it in anyway and will definitely return. If you have to be away from home, you will find it hard to better this cosy little annexe.

Ideal base for visiting North Devon, walking. the fabulous Tarka Trail, the beautiful beaches and the whole of Exmoor. 7 mins walk Town Centre with great restaurants and bars etc., Quiet, quality residential area.

  • Clean, comfortable and pleasant large room. No hot water in little kitchenette but can boil kettle for washing/washing up. Breakfast somewhat meagre. Convenient : walkable from the centre of town and central bus station ( 10 minutes walk uphill; about 20 mins' walk from railway station). Brian is kind and wants to make your stay pleasant. Realise I should have asked earlier for things that were missing such as coat hangers and waste paper bin.

    Wendy2018-01-05T00:00:00Z

  • It smelt of stale cigarette smoke. It was a surprise to need to take a toilet roll to the shared toilet / bathroom. It was a bit of an insult to read the note that said words to the effect, "There is a brush beside the toilet - use it. I should not need to ask." Knowing it was some sort of hostel might have helped me to expect this.

Dove Chapel has amazing views over the river Taw estuary, and its just a mile to the beautiful Tarka Trail and 15 minutes from the beach. We've decorated and furnished the place with a mixture of modern design and vintage finds, and the kitchen is well-stocked for cooking at home. Our peaceful garden adjoins a farmers field, so there's plenty of chance for lamb spotting in season, cup of tea in hand. Watching the tide change never tires, or there's the table football just in case!
Dove Chapel is a brand new conversion of a lovely grade II listed chapel. We've kept the original slate aisle and wooden panelling and flooring, whilst creating a well-designed family home in which to relax and enjoy the local setting. We're well set up for children, and as parents ourselves we've bought all the child-proofing, bathing and feeding equipment you'll need.
Ashford is all about views and rural tranquility. You can watch the lambs in the field through the garden fence (although in mid-winter they are not in the field), and the sun set over the estuary.
  • Absolutely exceptional. Beautiful house in stunning surroundings. Had the best part of a week in the converted barn with my family and we all loved every minute we spent in the chapel.

    Peter2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • A really cosy and well decorated old chapel with a beautiful view. The open plan kitchen space is great for friends or families to cook and eat and spend time together. Catherine is a great host, really quick to answer any questions. I would definitely recommend it.

    Harriet2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a tasteful conversion of a former Gospel Hall. Every village in North Devon had one, built in late Victorian times. There are fantastic views of the Taw estuary, so you can watch the tide. The Bi-fold doors get you right into the outside space. This is an all season great escape for six.Barnstaple and Braunton are equidistant for shopping. Go to Braunton for food shopping and restaurants and save Barnstaple for market days. Easy base for trips and beaches either side of the estuary. No off road parking, but not too much of a problem. Very relaxing. Sheep, pheasant, jackdaws All add to the experience.

    Roger2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine was a perfect host, and the cream tea waiting for us on arrival was a lovely welcoming touch. The chapel is beautifully renovated and was a pleasure to stay in. Would definitely come back again.

  • Dove Chapel is a lovely, spacious, well equipped house with fantastic views. We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend this house to friends and family. The children loved playing on the table football and we enjoyed using the BBQ on the patio in the late afternoon sun. Dove Chapel is situated in a peaceful location and it makes you feel like you are really getting away from it all. The house is a short drive to some fantastic beaches, especially Croyde. Barnstaple and Braunton are also short drives away and we made use of a couple of good restaurants during our stay. The communication before and during our stay with both Catherine and Vicky was very good.

Elysium is located in Cleave road, a sought after cul-de-sac area within Sticklepath from which one can enjoy open views across the Estuary towards Saunton Sands in the distance.
  • The room is very spacious, clean and modern with a great view and comfortable bed. Mas and her family are very warm and welcoming and we couldn't have asked for a better stay. The town centre is close by and multiple large grocery stores are within walking distance.

  • Mas and family were excellent hosts - friendly and helpful, but also respectful of their guest's privacy. The location of Elysium is perfect for those arriving and departing by the Tarka Trail (like me), being only a short walk on a quiet footpath from the trail. It is also only a short walk from Barnstaple's town centre. The large bedroom has uninterrupted views over the River Taw, which I took time to appreciate in both the evening and the next morning. Both it and the ensuite bathroom were modern, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Mas kindly offered the lockable garage as secure storage for my bicycle during my stay. I was also provided with a healthy and fulsome breakfast in the morning that set me up well for the day of cycling ahead. Many thanks to Mas and family for making my stay so pleasant.

  • Everything was fantastic. A great, warm and welcoming family. Would definitely stay here again. Wonderful views from our room. The room has a WOW factor!! This was the first time staying at an air b&b. If we do this again, the next hosts have a lot to live up too. Thank you again

The Wave House is a bespoke property set within a beautifully converted water mill, located down a quiet country lane just outside Barnstaple. Surrounded by fields, local footpaths, and the sound of running water from the 'Leat', The Wave House provides the perfect escape from daily life.
Entirely self contained property - guests have full and exclusive use of two floors of the house (the top floor is closed off for my use only, and will always will be empty when Airbnb guests are staying): Ground Floor: Kitchen & living room (with log burner) First floor: Double bedroom, bathroom (with bath & shower).
The beautiful beaches of Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay, and Crow Point, are a 20 minute car ride away, giving you access to the surfing paradise that North Devon is famous for. Braunton provides beach cafes and local boutique shops perfect for browsing if you prefer spending your time out of the water! Barnstaple is within walking distance of The Wave House and is perfect for regular shopping and restaurant visits. The Tarka Trail is also nearby and hiring bikes is a great way to see the local bay of the River Taw.
  • We spent a great couple of days here. The setting is lovely and tranquil. The house was very well equipped and spacious. It is also well placed to drive to the local beaches. Dawne was very friendly and communicative and made sure we had everything we needed. Would thoroughly recommend!
