“Downtown has been revitalized in the past 10 years with tons of fun bars and restaurants opening up as well as a boom in new housing for young professionals. It's generally very safe as long as you stick where the crowds are. Beale Street can be fun to check off the bucket list, but locals prefer the Main Street area where you'll see less touristy restaurants and a trolley that runs somewhat consistently.”

“As one of the last sundry stores left, circa 1876, A Schwab is the last remaining original business on Beale. It has been kept in its original state and still smells old. If the walls could talk.... "It's a must see! If they don't have it, you don't need it!" A recent addition to the interior is an "ole-time" soda fountain. Partake of a yummy malted or ice cream sundae!”
