“St Stephen’s Basilica of Budapest is one of the most beautiful and significant churches and touristic attractions of the country. This is partly due to its historical heritage, of being dedicated to the holy king St Stephen who was also the founder of the Hungarian state, and partly to the architectural and artistic value of the building itself. ”

“The Shoes on the Danube Bank is a memorial in Budapest, Hungary. Conceived by film director Can Togay, he created it on the east bank of the Danube River with sculptor Gyula Pauer [hu] to honour the Jews who were killed by fascist Arrow Cross militiamen in Budapest during World War II. They were ordered to take off their shoes, and were shot at the edge of the water so that their bodies fell into the river and were carried away. It represents their shoes left behind on the bank.”

“UNDER RECONSTRUCTION Tomb of Gül Baba and his rose-garden. An iconic spot in Budapest, a fragment of old centuries enclosed by the modern city. Perfectly unique and simply nice. One of the best place for a date, or for those who look for unique historic spots that mostly remains unseen by average tourists. It is fairly worth a short walk to see the surrounding streets as well. Gül Baba - whose name in hungarian means the Old Man of the Roses had been a turkish monarch during the 16th century. If once around, visit this place:”

“Aquincum used to be the northernmost settlement of the Roman Empire. A city of 25000 inhabitants situated on the right (today Buda) bank of River Danube was built to protect the empire from barbarians living on the other side. There is a spacious outdoor section, the Archaeological Park with ruins in very good condition (sounds strange, I know :)) and many indoor exhibitions. Find information for summer, winter and holiday schedule in their opening hours and ticket prices on their website in English. Visit of Aquincum Museum is free for Budapest Card holders.”
