“ The Casco Antiguo or Casco Viejo is the name given to the place where the city of Panama was moved in 1673. This city, traced reticular to the four cardinal points, was characterized by the axiality of its streets and popes, which earned it a classic model of an Indian city. It is located on a small peninsula, surrounded by a mantle of rocky reefs, within the current corregimiento of San Felipe. In 1997, the Old Town of Panama is included in the list of World Heritage Sites of UNESCO.”

“This museum houses the world’s largest collection of American jade (pronounced ‘ha-day’ in Spanish), with an ample exhibition space of five floors offering seven exhibits. There are nearly 7000 finely crafted, well-conserved pieces, from translucent jade carvings depicting fertility goddesses, shamans, frogs and snakes to incredible ceramics (some reflecting Maya influences), including a highly unusual ceramic head displaying a row of serrated teeth. The new museum cafe, Grano Verde, serves sandwiches, salads and smoothies.”
