Parc
“An extremely pretty botanical garden - a rare but beautiful sight in the region - was developed back in 1874 by Mr. J.D. Sims and Major Murray. There is an annual fruit and vegetable show that is held in the park that is well attended. An excellent and delightful treasure trove of some of the most exquisite plant species in the world, the Sim's Park is an outstanding sightseeing destination in Coonoor that boasts of being home to over one thousand different species of flora. All of these different plants and trees are scattered all across the park, and a walk through the lush greenery and colourful, vibrant flowers provides refreshment, inner peace and tranquillity, not to forget the unique and beautiful views. The Sim's Park is located in Coonoor in the Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu, on the northern side of the Coonoor Railway Station, and its easy accessibility is just one of the many features of this breathtaking beauty. The park is spread over an area of 12 hectares, and is divided into different sections, with the one with the Sholas and the widening footpaths being the most loved and cherished one. This unusual park-cum-botanical garden houses beautiful terraces with colourful flowers, lawns and rockeries, which enthral botanists from all across the globe. Besides, the park also houses rare trees of extreme importance, and it is also famous for the annual fruit and vegetable show that takes place here every year in May. The Sim's Park is visited by thousands of guests from near and far each year, and this lovely attraction is, without doubt, one of the best places to visit in Coonoor.”

“ Highfield Tea Factory located in Coonoor, The Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu is gaining lot importance as a popular tea tour destination. The landscape of this whole area is ornate with elevations which is actually very suitable for tea plantations. Tea lovers would love to visit the Highfield Tea Factory where they can see the entire tea making process and also buy various excellent varieties of tea and spices from the store next to it. It is worth a visit to Highfield Tea Factory during your visit to Coonoor. This tea factory is well equipped and produces tea of different qualities and focuses both on national as well as international market. ”

“THE TIGER HILL CEMETERY The Tiger Hill Cemetery is one of those 19th century graveyards which were mainly used by the British for their war burials. This graveyard is located in Coonoor and has burials dating back to the early 1900s. Majority of the tombs in this cemetery belong to the officers of the British East India Company and members of their families but there are few of them which belongs to the local people as well. Some memorials are having beautifully written epitaphs, sculptures and some are there with ornate designs. There is a stone gateway with an arched and a steeple at the entrance of the cemetery.”
