“Duiske Abbey is a 13th century gothic and romanesque abbey founded by the Norman Lord William Marshall. It is one of the first, largest and possibly the finest Cistercian monastery in Ireland. It was dissolved in 1536 by King Henry VIII and fell into ruin. It was reestablished in 1812 and restoration as an early Cistercian monastery was completed in the 1980s where 13th century stonework can still be seen. It is currently the parish church.”
