On recommande :)

Depuis 1990, Cushendall a accueilli le festival Heart Of The Glens tous les mois d'août.

The location is quiet and secure with just a 2 minute drive to the centre of town where you can get groceries or a great meal at one of the lovely restaurants. It was an excellent base to do the coast road and Giant's causeway from and such a peaceful area.

  • Joan's home was perfect for our visit to family in the Glens. The home itself was huge with plenty of space for our extended family of seven. The log fire was very cosy, the large, well equipped kitchen was fantastic and the extra dining space made mealtimes a breeze. Can't recommend this home highly enough. Whenever we visit again Joan's Place will be the only place we look for. Thank you Joan!

I'd hope that all other Airbnb hosts would copy Joan's attention to detail! The location was very good - only a few miles from the Causeway and the spectacular waterfalls in Glenariff Forest are just round the corner. Thank you for a great stay in Cushendall! :)

Family run NITB Approved B&B located on the famous 'Coast Road' in the picturesque village of Cushendall. Glendale, whose priority is to provide a high level of hospitality is located within easy walking distance of the village.
  • Everything was perfect! Lovely location, nice and clean, probably the best shower in the UK!, great breakfast even for vegetarians, totally homely atmosphere, and - most importantly - the most helpful staff who dealt perfectly even with our most peculiar needs. Definitely would stay there again!

    Hana2016-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Friendly, comfortable stay at this lovely B&B! We were greeted warmly at the door, and given information about good places for dinner, as well as a booklet with things to do in the area, wifi password, etc. Eamon also asked us what time we wanted breakfast (8-10 am range). We then left to visit the totally worthwhile Glenariff Forest, and Layd Church ruins, before tucking into the very comfy bed for the night. We woke up to views of the sea, rolling hills, and a few friendly farm animals. Mary greeted us in the morning for a full Irish breakfast cooked to order, along with a wide assortment of yogurt, fruit, granola, juice, coffee, tea and toast. She took time to chat with us and give us some wonderful suggestions for our drive up the coast the next day as well-- her hospitality completely made the visit! We felt welcome and free to ask for anything we needed. The B&B itself is ideally situated in easy walking distance from main Cushendall, with pubs, ATMs, several small shops, and a small convenience and grocery shop. Don't hesitate to book this place for couples, single travelers or families. I'd return again in a heartbeat!

Ballymacdoe Cottage Cushendall - English What to do at Ballymacdoe Cottage? 1.Find out about events: When you first arrive at the cottage check out the events that will be taking place in the village during the week of your stay. To do this visit Kearney’s butchers shop at Mill Street. In the window of the shop events are advertised. Also ask the butcher for more details. Visit the Cushendall development office at the top end of Mill street they will have more information. 2.Fishing: Limerick Point About 200 metres from the cottage is a small pier to fish from but most people fish off the rocks to the left. This place gets busy in winter so best to get down early. There is a reef about 150 metres offshore so best not to over cast. This location is very good for codling in winter to lugworm and crab baits will account for some flounder as well. Salmon Rock, Cushendun There's a small car park with a gravel path leading along coast. Follow it until you come to a section of shingle beach. Cross this to the right and you will find some high rocks - an ideal platform. This is salmon rock and for the record it is to the left of the small beach. In winter codling, flounder and whiting will fall to lugworm. In summer the occasional plaice can be taken but there are plenty of flounder. Layd Church. Layd church is on the coast road from Cusendall to Cushendun. It is accessed from the sign posted car park for the old church you have to follow the path to the shore (10 min walk). You can fish anywhere of the rocks using rough ground tactics, with the mark good for cod in winter alongside conger and dogfish, with good wrasse available in the summer. Straid Fishery 0289303721 for fly fishing lessons. Fishing the Dun, Dall & Glenariff Rivers: Picturesque and charming, the Dun is the biggest of the Glens of Antrim rivers. Born on the upper slopes if dramatic Glendunn the river winds its way down to the Irish Sea at Cushendun where the sea trout fishing is excellent. A spate river the Dun nevertheless features good holding pools in the bottom reaches. Tidal at the town, the Dun produces great sport especially on an evening tide. Wild brown trout is abundant here and a three-pounder was caught recently. Salmon runs appear from August to October. The Dall and Glenariff are smaller but offer excellent sea trout fishing in a number of holding pools. Local fishing methods include worming, spinning and fly. Further information: contact Mr T O'Neill Tel: 028 2177 2009 25 Mills Street, Cushendall. Species: Brown Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon Season: 1st March - 31st October Methods: All legal methods. Great little course. To play go to the small hut at the start of the course. The attendant will explain when you can play and take fees. If he is not in attendance ask the bar man in the club house. Walk to the far side of the beach and just keep walking. You will come a across another stony beach then a path. Follow this path it will lead to steps and another path. Follow coast line along path you will arrive at the church. You can take the road way back or follow the same path. Another good walk is up the Lurig. It requires boots and a good level of fitness. Opposite the Spar shop is the lane between the nursing home and a house. It is steep continue on this lane maybe a mile you will come to a road at the foot of Lurig. If you feel brave and are prepared with good boots make your way across the fields. You will meet zig zag path going up the hill, eventually it disappears and you have to climb up a steep grassy slope. When you overcome this slope you are near the top. Be careful on the way down. Every year on the second Saturday of August there is a race called the Lurig Run. From the small tower in the village to the top of Lurig and back to the tower. There are other marked trails ask at the Tourist office it is situated at the end of Mill street in the village. They are very helpful. 8.Village Bars & Restaurants. There are three bars in the village: J. McCollan’s (locally known as Jonny Joe’s), The Central, and the Lurig. Joe’s is a comfortable home bar, good for traditional Irish music particularly on Sunday evening. With rooms like you are in mother’s home are heated with coal or turf fire and a range, very comfortable, TV & crisps absent. The Central has more locals in it again a good place for a quiet drink. Has a good TV shows matches. The Lurig has more of a younger group. At weekend bands play. It’s the Hurley bar. 9.Restaurants: Harry’s in Mill Street is a first rate restaurant. Quality of food excellent worth a visit. Upstairs at Joe’s is another restaurant recently changed management. Not sure on quality. For tea coffee and a fry visit Arthurs Tea & Coffee Warehouse in Shore Street. The Glens Hotel. 10.Hurling: The owner of the butchers shop Mr Kearney is heavily involved in hurling so you could ask him where you could see a hurling match. Could vary as there are several clubs within driving distance. The local club Ruari Og (Young Rory) is situated on the edge of the village on the right hand side on the road on the way to Waterfoot. Hurling is played from April to Sept. www.ruairiog.com. The hurley pitch is at Pairc Mhuire on the coast road going south. 11.The Glens Hotel on the Coast Road is good for breakfast lunch and dinner. 12.Glens of Antrim Medical Centre: Glens Of Antrim Medical Centre 2 Gortaclee Road 028 2177 1411 http://www.glensofantrimmedicalcentre.co.uk/index.aspx. 13.The village facilities: a library, St Mary’s Catholic Church, Layd Church of Ireland, Cushendall Presbyterian church, tourist office, development group, village tea rooms, McAlister’s Estate Agent, Golden Fry Chinese’s take out, fruit & veg shop, pharmacist, cloth shop, crafts shop, Mary D’s Hairdresser and barbers (very good), McAlister’s Hard ware shop, Celtic Crafts, Charity shop, Northern Bank, The Pepper Mill carry out, Archie Kinney butchers, Half Door Chip Shop, Spar Grocer Shop, Mace Grocer Shop, Nursing Home, WineFlair near the cottage at Dalriada Ave. 14.Red By Boats Ltd see www.redbayboats.com/ 02821771331. This area is steeped in history and heritage and the facility is based at the most extensive off road horse riding centre on Ireland’s north coast. The 400 acre McKinley family farm in the hills of north Antrim is located at the site of the battle of Aura which was fought between the Irish clans of McDonnell’s, McQuillans and O’Neill’s in 1583. Sheans Horse Farm offers top quality trekking and hacking on miles of off-road tracks that wind up into the beautiful North Antrim hills with panoramic views over 5 counties including stunning views of Lough Foyle, the Sperrin Mountains, Inishowen, Malin Head and to the counties of Tyrone and Fermanagh. The historical and heritage centres presentation offers excellent insights into the history of the area, the lives of the Irish clans, chieftains and the story of the great chieftain Sorely Boy McDonnell prior to the flight of the Earls in 1607. The traditional art of turf cutting is demonstrated out at the old turf banks on the hills above the farm and visitors are given the opportunity to participate in this, while taking in the dramatic views across Ulster. The story telling of the myths and legends of Ulster makes Sheans Horse farm the key centre for recounting the folklore and ancient tales of the area. 24.Glens Cycling Club: Sunday Morning Cycles Glens Cycling Club holds regular Sunday cycles throughout the year. Although dating from the Stone Age, it is traditionally believed to be the burial place of Ossian, the Celtic warrior poet. 27.Turnly's Tower or Curfew Tower. It’s the unusual looking tower at the village centre. 1809; a truly remarkable romantic building, providing at once the pivot and focus for the central crossing of the town, and built by Francis Turnly, the East India Company nabob, of Drumnasole and Richmond Lodge, Holywood. "Though eccentric, and perhaps demented, he erected extraordinary improvements in the buildings and roads on his property." "The tower was the great object of Mr. Turnly's thoughts; among his papers were instructions given to Dan McBride, an army pensioner, whom he appointed its guard. It was always to be provisioned for a year; it was to have a permanent 'garrison of one man', who was not to leave it night or day; it was to be armed with one musket, a bayonet, a case of pistols, and a pike, thirteen feet long, having a cross of wood or iron on its handle, so that it could not be pulled through the hole guarding the doorways." It was erected "as a place of confinement for idlers and rioters". When this Hibernian ornamental hermit retired, he was replaced in due course by a Mr Stewart, who was in the navy in the First World War and had a wooden leg, despite which he was an enthusiastic tree climber. He brought up a large family in the Tower, rang the curfew bell religiously. The traces of this fortified past are still to be found in the windowless dungeon, the massively heavy entrance door, 'murder holes' below the oriel windows, and an old well at the back door. Niches in the walls beside the upper level windows almost certainly housed heavy shutters for the windows, and a curfew bell has been reinstated on the parapet (the old one was missing, and the present one formerly graced a London fire station). A new lead roof was put on, floors were replaced, the old narrow steep staircase repaired, stonework repointed and repaired; and a new kitchen extension was added at the rear using stone salvaged from former outbuildings, contained within the walled garden and built into the rising hillside to minimise its impact. The Tower is 20 feet square, tapered, and rises four storeys to a height of 40 feet, topped by modest battlements; on each of its four faces there are projecting windows, with a murder-hole in the base of the lowest. It is built of rich red sandstone rubble, one wall being slate-hung. In the base of the east wall is inset a modest fountain capped by Mr Turnly's initials. The doorway is narrow and round headed; the door itself is most medieval, sheathed in iron with knobs on it. Boyle, in 1835, wrote "It is not at all ornamental in its structure and is said to have been built after the model of some Chinese tower". To a modern eye it appears entirely Romantic and Western European. 28. Ballyeamon Barn: Every Saturday evening at 8pm Liz Weir, story teller of the Glens, hosts an evening of: music, story telling, poetry and craic at Ballyeamon Barn. Ballyeamon Barn is at 127 Ballyeamon Road, Cushendall BT44 0QP. To of the Glen, travel up the road opposite the Spar Shop it is the white washed walls and red building. Tea and coffee is available. If you can make a contribution by for example telling a story it is much appreciated.
  • Gerald's house is very comfortable and clean. The sea is a few minutes by foot from the house and also one friendly supermarket and some super friendly pubs. This place will remain in my heart for a long time.

  • Love this place, beautifully presented, has everything you could need, extremely well stocked with extras. close to beach and in the middle of town. The only negative we felt, was that there is nowhere to eat in Waterfoot. There are two lovely towns either side which are about a 10 minute drive with lovely restaurants. The 2 pubs in Waterfoot are great, the people were extra friendly. Thanks for the delicious tea cakes (going to buy some to take home) and coffee.

They were so great and specific, gave us info on real great things to see in the area and directions too! 100% recommend don't miss this! The surrounding country is gorgeous.

  • We just had the greatest time here. The beds were so very comfortable and cozy. Alex and the other women in his house are so pleasant and accomodating; they help us late at night figure out the washing machine ha. I really couldn't have asked for better hosts. We would definitely stay here again.

  • A really warm welcome from Alex who did everything to make us feel at home and at ease. He had great local knowledge of restaurants and things to do - and also stopped our car from getting clamped in the first half hour! The room was spotless, and very comfortable. Location central and perfect to explore Cushendall (which won't take long!). A couple of great places to eat on the same street, and some lovely walks out to the sea and also above the village along the coast. Many more too I am sure.

  • Had a great couple of days in cushendall. The B&B was very comfortable and ideally located in the heart of the town. Would recommend to anyone!

  • BeB in fronte città. Un posto pulito e tranquillo. Proprietario tranquillo e molto gentile.

  • I can't think of anything that Olive could improve! The house is in a spectacular setting. Olive really tries to anticipate her guests' every need for food, refreshments, toiletries and comfort. The bed was super-comfy. The house is spotlessly clean. The breakfast was unbelievable! We ordered the cooked Irish breakfast - first rate - and eggs Florentine - delicious! Olive also served a little kiwi and ginger fruit smoothie and a little granola and yogurt with fresh local strawberries. Yum. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could.

  • This is a lovely guest house in a great location with gorgeous views! Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The sheets were wonderful, the towels were luxurious and there were wonderful touches such as robes for our use. The breakfast was amazing (the best scrambled I had in Ireland!). Olive and James were the perfect hosts: warm, friendly, fun and engaging!

  • This was exactly what we wanted. A scenic view on the coast of Northern Ireland. Olive and her husband were awesome. Offering tea as we arrived and an amazing breakfast. The views were absolutely out of this world. Short ride into the small town to get dinner. May want to call ahead for reservations in the town for dinner.

  • We had a wonderful stay and can't say enough about Sorcha and Eamonn or the house. There was so much more space than we expected, the kitchen had everything we needed, it was clean and very comfortable! Cushendall is perfect for exploring the Causeway Coast and surrounding areas and is less than an hour from Belfast. By far one one of the best places we've stayed on our many (many) visits to NI and the Republic.

    Tauna2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • From start to finish this was a brilliant trip. The property exceeded expectations and the hostess, Sorcha, was so welcoming & friendly. The house is located beside a B&B and offered very spacious and clean accommodation which comfortably allowed our party of 8 to enjoy the Christmas holidays together. I would not hesitate to recommend this house which is within walking distance to all the local facilities and an excellent base to explore the North Antrim Coast.

    Ana Marina2016-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Eamon and Sorcha are a lovely couple with a great cottage. The pictures do not do it justice. The kitchen is huge and a great place for socialising while cooking. We had a great time and would recommend to everyone. The cottage is situated close to the beach, walking distance. The amenities are very close and a nice shop selling great ice cream just round the corner. A cosy pub can be found within a 10 minute walking distance with live music (you are expected to join in the singing!!)

  • We have stayed here for four nights. The room is spacious, very clean, the bed is very good. Bathroom of our own, well equipped and god shower. Denise offers a good breakfast, and the view is spectaculair from the house. We have made a grand tour Ireland, and this was our resting place. Daytrips are easy to Giant Causeway and Glenarif forest etc. We highly reccomend this place!

  • Denise gave us a nice welcome and accommodated us by providing lighter bed clothes when we arrived. Her house was spotless, the bed was comfy and we loved the spectacular views! Denise was quite regimental regarding her long list of rules and when I requested to use the microwave or a saucepan to make porridge which I was providing myself I was taken aback when I was told I could only use the kettle and toaster even though there was a fully equipped kitchen. There was no TV or radio provided.

    Teresa 2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay with Denise very much. Lovely house with fantastic facilities and views. Our room was very comfortable, clean and spatious, capturing the fantastic views of the area. Denise was a very welcoming host, we would recommend this bnb very much.

    Katherine2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed two days at Denise's lovely, modern house in the outskirts of Glenariff, in the beautiful countryside of the Glens of Antrim. Very pleasant bedroom with a great view and a big and comfortable bathroom. The heating was on! We also enjoyed the substantial continental breakfast in the dining room next to the kitchen. Unfortunately wifi was not working at first but Denise did her best to get it working before we left. She was very helpful, giving us information about the area and where to go and have our meals. On arrival she even made a reservation for us at a good restaurant at Cushendall.

    Ignazia2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely warm welcome from Denise! What a gorge comfy cosy bed - I wanted to steal the duvet and pillows! And that view waking up to a view over the glens was superb. Private bathroom which was spotless...didn't stay for breakfast but was served in a private dining space that looked very accommodating! Highly recommended! 5️

    Sanna2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful b&b with gorgeous views, thanks for having us Denise xx

    Declan2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend this gem of a place highly enough. Everything was 5 star! The rooms were extremely comfortable and beautifully finished, all with stunning views of the glen and coastline. We had use of a spacious and lovely lounge area for guests that was simply wonderful to relax in and absorb the striking vistas from. We also had use of our own kitchen and enough breakfast food to set us up for the day. I relish my morning and evening cuppas so this was a real treat. This very impressive property is just over a mile from the famously beautiful beach and village of Waterfoot. Waterfoot is a small, tranquil spot with a couple of quaint and very friendly bars and a great chipper that opens at 5pm. If, like me, you enjoy fish and chips at the beach it's a perfect spot but if you want a busier place with restaurants, cafes and little shops you can walk another scenic mile along the coast to Cushendall. We didn't make it to Johnny Joes but seemingly it's an authentic and very friendly Irish bar which gets fantastic reviews on line. Take a look. Walking in a different direction enables one to explore further the glorious glens and Glenariff Forest Park. Bring a good camera because you'll want to capture the several waterfalls and seriously striking scenery. A range of walks are available around the glens. If you want to go further afield buses are available -Monday to Friday-that will take you to other pretty towns like Carnlough, Glenarm and Ballycastle. We particularly enjoyed Carnlough. This really is a beautiful part of the world to explore and in keeping with the stunning scenery Denise offers an equally stunning guest experience. She was genuinely charming, kind, informative and helpful- a lovely person to chat to. Don't hesitate for a second to book this accommodation- it delivers everything you could wish for and more. Thank you Denise. I'm already planning my next trip back. Joy and Daniel

  • This is an excellent property, suitable for families of any age. It feels a really spacious house as it is over three floors with a very well equipped kitchen, two bathrooms with fantastic showers, laundry facilities etc. The bedrooms are roomy and the beds very comfortable. It is about a 10 minute walk to the beach and a little further to the village. Ciaran has left lots of information about things to do in the area. He is an excellent host, quick to respond and he sets up a very welcoming house.

  • Ciaran and Denise have a lovely home in Cushendall surrounded by flowers and opening onto an amazing view of the surrounding hills of County Antrim. This was the last stop on a nearly two-week trip around Ireland with eight people in my family. The lovely setting and the attention paid to us prior to and after check in by Ciaran and Denise made it possible for this to be just as special as the first. C&D made sure we knew about some of the local attractions so we could plan out our stay. They were very attentive and checked in to make sure everything was okay during our stay. It was like staying in a friend's home.

  • Although we didn't meet, Ciaran was in communication and made sure we were comfortably settled in. The house is a great place and location for a large family to enjoy the atmosphere of Cushendall. We were grateful to have the comforts of a house while attending our family reunion!

  • A truly wonderful house containing everything that you could possibly need for a trip. Our hosts (Ciarian and Denise) could not have been better - thank you both of you for all the thoughtfulness which went in to making the first leg of our Ireland holiday truly memorable (regardless of the weather!), it was special to feel so spoilt. We only stayed for 3 nights, and should have stayed for 3 months - we will be back! Re the location - great for the Causeway and all-things Games of Thrones.

    Rita2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house is spacious and warm set in a beautiful private area of Antrim. The stove was set up and fresh towels on the dressed beds. Ciaran was always available for any queries, and flexible regarding my time of arrival. Highly recommended property, 10 out of 10.

  • We stayed 3 nights at Moneyvart and we loved the house. It is spacious, perfect for a big family even with small children. It is very well equipped and comfy. Ciaran was always available if we had any queries. The area is also perfect for visiting the tourist spots (giant causeway, carrick a rede, glens, walks....) . Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.

Gameloads Game of Thrones aussi divertissant à regarder.

  • A really well equipped apartment at the top of the block, giving a stunning view of the bay. A lot of the village is owned and kept by the National Trust indicating the history here. Mary McBride’s Bar is great for a pint of the black stuff next to a warm fire. There‘s a flat walk signed around the area starting at the riverside across the bridge.

  • Great well kitted out place with an amazing view. Warm welcome and easy check-in with Bridget.Mary McBrides pub is just around the corner (1 min walk) and has great beers, staff and good food. Walks on the beach were beautiful and it’s well located for all the Antrim Coast sights. Definitely want to come back.

  • Paul's place has the most incredible view.It was all that was described and more. It is along one of the nicest drives we experienced in our trip around the entire island. Bridgette is a beautiful woman who instantly makes you feel welcome in Ireland. I wish we had more time to spend here. The Little Black Door was an amazing restaurant with in walking distance. The food was great! There is also a little pub round floor of the restaurant called McBrides I believe, which offered cold drinks and great live music. Walking distance is a definite bonus. Very quaint little town. Would highly recommend a stay here. It is absolutely beautiful.
