St Aiden's also holds open air movies during the summer months you can order a picnic or BYO. Just a little way up Pile road you will find gourmet pizzas and further on Wild bull Brewery as well. When you turn for home you will be spoiled with spectacular views towards Bunbury and the sparkling ocean beyond. Beautiful clear skies with no city lights interfering offer endless star and planet gazing opportunities and stunning moon rises.
  • This home is my meaning of heaven. Beautiful home, beautiful property, fabulous views and fantastic hosts. Highly recommended but we need to keep this a secret...lol! Thanks again Jen, Kate, Tilly, Layla, Rosie and Nina, Nashi, Little Jo, Paprika, Freedom and Nibbles and the rest of the crew. We couldn't have wished for more!

    Sharon2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. It is a large house, on a beautiful location, high on top of the hill. Jennifer was a fantastic host.

    barbara2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • The photos don't do this beautiful home and surroundings justice. It was out of this world. We found the home more than comfortable with everything we needed and more. Daily scenic walks, taking in the beautiful surroundings or just sitting on the wrap around verandah taking in the views, was sublime! The cooler evenings were made toasty with the cracking fire going. Jennifer was a superb host, couldn't ask for more. My husband and I left after 4 days of peaceful bliss, feeling rested and content - and a little sad to have to say goodbye to a stunning home in stunning surroundings. We will definitely return.

  • The view, the house, the host, we're not sure what is the best thing to review... the place is amazing.

    Maryse2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful home in a great location. Set high on the hill with amazing views, this home is perfect for family getaways! The kids loved the space and animals to play with - dogs, horses, sheep, chickens & peacocks. Jen is a great host and provided lots of info about the area... A great place just to relax and explore, with a big verandah to soak it all up.. We’ll be back very soon!

    Brendan2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful location and a lovely house for a country experience. All the rooms are very spacious, the beds and linen are crisp and clean. Amazing views and a lovely host. Only 2 hours from Perth, it's a perfect place for a quick getaway. Some good bush-walking trails not too far from the property, or just relax on the verandah with a good book! Perfect!

    David2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed another return visit to Jennifer’s beautiful home and surroundings. We’ve returned home relaxed and refreshed. And we’ll be back for another visit. Words can’t describe just how lovely the home and setting in the hills are. Sublime!

  • We had the most amazing stay with Tim and Wendy. They made us feel like family and were so accommodating. We loved the small touches that included our welcome sign and fresh strawberries from the garden. The continental breakfast was incredible and we didn’t even need lunch later that day. We would highly recommend Honkey Nut Hollow to anyone wanted a relaxed getaway. And the pool was great for a quick cool down as the temp was warm down there that weekend. And the views are gorgeous, especially at sunset.

  • To all BnB travellers. Your in for a real treat at the Honky Nut Hollow. Here’s my note to Tim and Wendy. ‘Hi Tim and Wendy, it was lovely to see you both again and be recipient of such warm hospitality in such beautiful surrounds. I would have never thought I would have been back to fast! One week! Well, I will see you again soon. Perhaps in two weeks! Cheers Mark’

  • This is a fantastic get away. Its peaceful, quiet and has beautiful views. We were the first guests and had a warm welcome. Tim and Wendy were very helpful and open. Myself and the kids enjoyed ourselves so much. The appartment is spacious, clean and has a lot attention to details. Beds are super comfy and everything else made us feel like home away from home. We will definitely come back with a bit more time :) Thank you Tim and Wendy!

    Kim2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying with Tim and Wendy and it was fantastic. The full cooked breakfast in the morning was incredible. My husband and I were instantly relaxed as soon as we arrived at the gate, felt like our private holiday house and the views in the afternoon are stunning. Tim and Wendy are the most wonderful hosts and make you feel so welcome.

    Andrina2017-12-08T00:00:00Z

We live in a gorgeous old weatherboard house that we love to share, it is on 5 acres . It has two bedrooms for guests- one double with beautiful antique French bed and the other a funky room with two wrought iron single beds. Guests have sole use of the family bathroom. We love our old home but it is a work in progress. Guests are welcome to use our outside spaces including the patio with barbecue, an outside studio room with dance floor and large garden.
Both guest rooms have jarrah floorboards and French doors that can open onto the verandah and guests have the large family bathroom. Guests are welcome to eat in the dining room or the patio. We are happy to provide evening meals with prior arrangement. The house has a wide verandah with lots of places to enjoy as well as an outdoor brick patio area with barbecue. We have many fruit trees, ducks, chooks and three rescued cats.
We are 3 minutes drive from Donnybrook town (approx 30 minutes walk). It is a semi- rural location with lovely places to cycle or walk. It is 25 minutes drive into Bunbury and 30kms to the Ferguson valley and the vineyards and great scenery.
  • Our stay at Donnybrook was short but sweet. We were welcomed with warm homemade scones & jam and checked out early the next morning after a great homecooked breakfast. Angela and Ian are friendly and generous hosts and our rooms were delightful. Highly recommended!

  • We had a lovely relaxing break from the city in Amanda and Ian's delightful country house. The house and hosts are both charming! The decor is full of character will all pieces having a very personal touch. We loved Amanda and Ian's cooking - were treated to fresh eggs from their chooks and ducks for breakfast and delicious heartwarming dinners. Watch out for Amanda's super sized and super yummy desserts! Having the option to eat in at night in front of the fire was certainly a highlight! Great stay, lovely hosts, highly recommended!

  • Amanda and Ian are fantastic hosts, as accommodating as one could possibly expect. We had a "romantic" dinner with them on arrival which my boyfriend and I both enjoyed so much! Food was amazing and atmosphere was very relaxing. The English breakfast next morning was great too! The house itself is such a beautiful home with character, very clean, warm and comfortable. We will be back when the stone fruit on their block are ready!

My place is in a rural setting and is an ideal base to explore the Southwest and Geographe region of Western Australia. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space. My place is great to share with friends looking for an escape to the country. Come and enjoy....
The historical "Crendon" homestead, built in 1894 and owned by the same family since 1904, has recently been partially renovated. The bathroom and toilet have been the most recently renovated sections of the house. The house and it's surrounds provides an ideal location to relax and enjoy a short break. The living, kitchen and bedrooms are all spacious and filled with natural light. Although there is no air conditioning the solid brick walls, high ceilings, a high pitched ceiling space and wide verandahs all contribute to keeping the house naturally cool in the summer and warm in the winter. In addition there are overhead fans and a log fire in the living area and upright fans in the bedrooms. In winter the beds have electric blankets. The extensive lawns surrounding the house and the farmland view from all windows adds to the sense of space and wellbeing. The perfect place to relax with family and friends. Sit outside on the day bed with a coffee first thing in the morning (with the morning sun warming the cushions) or with a glass of wine at the end of a day and watch the birds going through their beginning/end of day routine. If the bird bath is empty please fill it as the birds love to utilise it for their daily wash. It is always a delight to watch nature at its natural best. All water in the house is rainwater. Please be mindful of this when showering. Water from the garden hoses is sourced from our farm dam but safe for your dog to drink.
There are a number of excellent wineries with cellar door facilities within 5-15 minutes of “Crendon” including Barton Jones Winery, Oakway Estate, Smallwater Estate, Barrecas Winery, Thompson Brook Winery and if you are venturing towards the Ferguson Valley, call into Mandalay Estate. Further afield a day trip to the Ferguson Valley, Balingup and Bridgetown, Bunbury or Busselton is highly recommended. For cyclists, the Munda Biddi trail is close by and the Upper Capel Road is much loved by cyclists (and the motorbike enthusiast) looking for a variety of terrains including hill climbs and winding bitumen country roads. For trail bike enthusiasts the West Coast Safari Trail Bike Tours is located 17-20 minutes away at Kirup and they provide all facilities for trail bike riding. For those who are seeking quiet and solitude, grab a book (and maybe a glass of local wine) and curl up on the daybed or eggshell chair out on the verandah or grab a rug and cushions and find a spot under a tree for a quiet hour or two. At night, light the outside fire brazier (Fire pit), dine outside and enjoy the ambiance of the night sky in all its glory. Download the Sky Map app to your phone or ipad to better identify the stars. Compared to the city you will be amazed at how many stars fill our night sky. Donnybrook and the surrounding little towns in all directions have great restaurants, cafes, quirky shops to explore and the best local produce shops and farm stalls to appreciate the wonderful produce being grown in the area. Enjoy......
  • My Partner and I had a great time at Crendon Homestead. The Homestead was on a quite road with beautiful views of the rolling green hills, since the house has a wraparound balcony you can chose a different for every meal or sit outside and star gaze. The house had a fully equipped kitchen, books and games, comfortable beds and an indoor fire place, everything you need. There was plenty to do in the area as well, we visited a few cellar doors in the area, took the dog to Golden Valley tree park in Balingup, check out a few orchards for some fresh fruit, went for a drive through Ferguson valley. This place is diffidently one place we would love to stay at again.

    Andrew2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful long weekend stay at Crendon! It is perfectly located on a quiet road surrounded by a working farm. There is a paddock with 2 horses on one side of the property & several large, open sheds on the other. Crendon is a huge, fully equipped house with a gorgeous wrap around porch and so many great books & games to play. Its beautifully furnished with the only thing missing being curtains in the 3 bedrooms. A family of black skinks live on the back porch and we had fun finding them each day. Only a 10 minute drive into Donnybrook or 40 minutes into Bunbury/Busselton. We loved our stay & hope to return soon!

  • This is a gem of a homestead with unique and artistic furnishings. The location is quiet and restful with horses to pat over the fence. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

  • Amazing house... Great host

    Elliot2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Majestic homestead with history and charm. Our family had a wonderful experience and thank Linda for the opportunity to enjoy such a beautiful homestead. The homestead had everything you wanted, close distance to Donnybrook and offered country seclusion. Linda was a terrific host easily contactable and allowed us to enjoy a relaxing getaway from Perth. Thankyou.

    Brad2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was good - location, cleanliness, comfort. Only thing to know: No A/C, and no phone reception. Not a biggie - but some people might need phone.

    Chloe2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We love this house!

    Jamie2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • I found the Crendon Homestead to be very homely and inviting, just gorgeous! The 3 bedroom / 1 bathroom home has beautiful veranda's that wrap right round the house, you'll also find a cane swing chair which was a special treat for my 3 year old and I. The beds are real comfy with luxurious linen and bath towels. There is a log fire to keep you nice and toasty in winter and the beds have electric blankets. There is only a shower no bath but the shower has good pressure. The best part of the house for us was the side reading nook where we did floors puzzles and read books while watching the horses in the paddock next door and if I was to give any negative, it would be that there was no mobile coverage for calls but there is a house phone for local calls and it just meant more quality time with the family Definitely would recommend this place, it's a hidden gem! Crendon Homestead is on a rural property just 8kms south of Donnybrook and is a great place to relax or use as a base to explore the Southwest and Geographe region of Western Australia. The local roads are ideal for cyclists and the Munda Biddi mountain bike trail is nearby. There are a number of excellent wineries within 5-30 minutes of the homestead.

Come and enjoy my 50 acre property with beautiful views over the hills and no one in sight. My home is perfect for your weekend escape or for a stop on your way further south. The Ferguson Valley's many wonderful wineries and breweries are just around the corner and the nearby forests are amazing places for walks. A visit to Gnomesville is a must. My property offers a great place for unwinding if you feel like finding that special, quiet place to slow down and relax.
My place has one bedroom with a queen size bed. You will have your own bathroom and lounge area if you want some privacy. My house is a 15 minute drive to Donnybrook where there is a supermarket, 3 petrol stations, pharmacy, news agency, many cafes and other interesting shops, the biggest playground you have ever seen and two restaurants. There is also a small shop 5 minutes away that sells milk, take away food, newspaper etc. Tea and coffee is always available as is the use of the kitchen to cook, microwave etc. Toast, cereal and fruit are available as part of your stay, for breakfast.
Lowden is about 2 hours away from Perth, 30-40 minutes away from the beaches of Bunbury and only several minutes from Ferguson Valley. It is not a town, rather a locality. The property itself is a hidden gem, with no neighbours, only bird, kangaroos and amazing views.I am close to the Wellington Dam and Discovery Forest which are part of the Wellington National Park. Nearby Wellington Mills has great mountain biking areas.

  • Staying at Debbie's place was more like visiting a friend we had known for years. Very beautiful and peaceful property. We had our own private bedroom, lounge, bathroom and toilet. Plus Deb put on a lovely continental breakfast with fresh fruit and yoghurt. There are some nice wineries and boutique brewries nearby too. This place is a hidden gem, we'll definitely be going back.

  • Great place to stay with our 5 week old baby and highly energetic border collie. Debbie was friendly and a great host. We spent our evenings in Debbie's lounge by the fire which was perfect. Will recommend and come back again

  • After arriving at night we awoke to rolling green hills and valleys filled with white mist. It was so beautiful. The house is immaculately clean and tidy, is very welcoming and warm in its decore as is Debbie your host. There was more than adequate privacy with the bedroom and our own bathroom along with a separate lounge room if we wanted, however, we preferred to chat in the huge comfortable living area. Essentially you have the use of the whole house. Personally, we thoroughly edjoyed the seclusion of the country and cooking our own food which we brought, however, restaurants are only a fifteen minute drive away. We plan to return. All in all, great value for money and a beauitul setting. Thanks Debbie Geoff and Natalie

  • Debbie's house is the place to go if you need some peace and relaxation. Her sprawling property, set on top of a hill in the Ferguson Valley, is nothing short of breathtaking. Though we were unfortunately unable to meet Debbie in person, we felt well looked after. The property is very neat and tidy, with all the home comforts needed for a relaxing getaway.

Our mud brick shed has been beautifully converted into a modern 2 x 2 unit with open plan living areas, fully equipped kitchen, an inviting deck and comfy beds! It is a private home with it's own driveway and backyard. There are ample places to sit or recline and the location is only 15mins from Bunbury and central to the Ferguson Valley, Donnybrook, Capel & the beach. We are perfectly placed!
Open plan kitchen, living, dining area all brand new and contemporary. The deck is definitely a feature with couch space to make you feel like you're at your private cafe. The newly landscaped garden also has places to relax or simply gaze upon the paddocks beyond. Inside all furnishings are new and the 42 inch tv also has a Dvd player. The master bedroom has a spacious ensuite bathroom with a wow showerhead too!
Boyanup would be described as a quiet country town. It does have a butcher, bakery, pharmacy, general store, wood gallery, post office, cafe, hair salon, pub and some quirky antique shops. For the kids there is The Gingerbread House, a playground and skate park. Every fourth Sunday of the month is the Boyanup Farmers Market, a very popular and large market and well worth visiting.
  • This is a very comfortable place to stay with everything you could want provided. There are a number of interesting places within a easy drive, you will definitely need a car to enjoy the area. The owners have provided a booklet with a list of places to visit which we found very useful. The family are delightful and very hospitable. We would definitely stay there again.

  • We really enjoyed staying at "The Shed". Beautifully furnished, thoughtfully designed, scenic landscapes, and thoroughly comfortable. Nicola and Dan are wonderful hosts.

    Mark2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was our great honour to be the first guests at Nichola and Dan's place. Nicola and her three little lovely angels gave us a warmed welcome when we reached her place. I was surprised by the full facilities of the place we stayed, clean and neat. We love the interior design of the house, we just feel like staying at our own home. Early morning, we walked out at the balcony to enjoy birds whistle and seeing horse riding from far. A great location of the place to centre town. Nicola gave me a great guidance of some attractions around Bunbury. This is definitely worthwhile to stay at this lovely place. Greatly appreciated everything provided here. If I were to come back again , I will definitely stay here again.

  • This place was amazing. Seriously the photos do not do justice. Bed is easily the most comfortable I've ever slept in. We bumped into Nicola, Dan and happy and they where beyond lovely. I will definitely be re-booking asap. Thanks for the great time :)!

  • Amazing! So clean and comfortable. You would want for nothing. Great location and wonderful hosts! Will definitely be back.

  • Nicola and Dan met us on arrival and were very welcoming. The Shed was above expectations - very nicely furnished and finished to a high standard. The photos don't really do it justice. It was great to have a high spec kitchen with all necessary equipment. The large flat screen TV was also appreciated. There was good wireless coverage in the Shed and it was easy to log on. The outlook over the farms and fields was very relaxing. It was cosy inside with the aircon. We would like to return in summer to enjoy the al fresco area. Boyanup is small but delightful town with a couple of quirky and interesting shops. Nicola and Dan were always available either in person or by phone and gave a good suggestion for a breakfast cafe in Bunbury. We enjoyed driving around the Ferguson Valley visiting galleries and wineries. Also visited Donnybrook and Balingup just down the road. Would definitely recommend the Shed for great accommodation in the South West. Thanks for a great weekend.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at The Shed. Nicola and Dan have created a welcoming and tranquil space. We found Nicola and Dan to be very thoughtful hosts, and easy to communicate with. We would highly recommend a visit to The Shed.

    Kate2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very thoughtfully equipped place with everything you need, especially in the kitchen. Beautifully presented and clean place. The deck is a wonderful place to hang out and chillax, mindful though that the road does have a few trucks trundling along it during the day. Had a wonderful stay, would highly recommend the place and I would go back. Boyanup is a cute town with the a Gingerbread House a must to visit.

Secluded cute eco cabin surrounded by beautiful bush. Peaceful. SILENCE! Cosy log fire in winter. Walking / mountain bike trails. Bird life and song. Brilliant starry night skies. Local produce including fruit, wine and olive oil available all around the area.
Fully self-contained cabin with small stand alone solar power system, gas stove and fridge, log fire heater, TV and lovely hot rainwater shower (great for hair and skin). There is a double bed in the loft (wake up in the tree tops) and downstairs are 2 singles. We can provide up to 2 more single mattresses in the loft if required. Please note that access to the loft is via 'ladder stairs' (see photo) which are very steep and so perhaps not suitable for small children, elderly or disabled people. There's also a wood heater for winter which keeps the cabin warm and cosy, as well as having the stovetop to cook a delicious slow cook soup or your dinner if you feel inclined, instead of using the gas stove. Lowden is in the shire of Donnybrook/Balingup (we are 20km from Donnybrook town) and is 45 minutes from Bunbury and 15 minutes from the Ferguson Valley wineries. The property, Kambarang, is 100 ares of beautiful jarrah/marri bushland with views up and down the Preston Valley and has 8+ km of walk/mountain bike track (rated at blue level, however there is also a novice/kids track). Springtime provides a profusion of wildflowers including some very special orchids. The region is the fruit bowl of WA and seasonal freshly picked produce can be purchased from roadside stalls along the Preston Valley, plus wine and olive oil. May to December is absolutely beautiful away from the coast in the south west . It is lush and green and without the strong coastal winds, its lovely even when it is raining. We are above the frost line and some mornings can look down on a mist in the valley below while enjoying the colours of the sunrise. We are 8km from the Bibbulmun Track and offer a pick up/ drop off service (for a fee) to guests - and also for the Munda Biddi Mountain Bike Trail. There is a fully equipped bicycle repair shop on the property and Barrie can service or repair your bike during your stay. Please note that for long weekends we have a minimum stay requirement of 3 nights at a special price of $310 for 2 people (plus $15 per day per extra person). Or you can make your own long weekend anytime with the 3 night special rate - just contact us with your dates.
Our neighbourhood is beautiful bushland. The wider area is forest or farmland.
  • My husband and I had a very relaxing holiday week in April. The cabin had a wonderful rustic, get away quality and was self contained with good cooking facilities. The bush surrounds, peace and quiet and friendly hosts all contributed to a wonderful holiday, as well a couple of games of golf in Donnybrook and Collie. Plenty of walking or mountain bike riding can be accessed on the property and Bibbulmun track entries are not far away by car. Thanks Sherry and Barrie from Don and Athena.

    Athena 2014-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Get away from the noise of life in this cabin, sit by the wood stove and read a book, or wander the trails that run through the bush on the property. You can drive to Donnybrook or Balingup for some food or coffee, or even Bunbury if you have the mind, it's not too far. Don't expect hours of watching tv and charging all your electronic gadgets, having all the lights on. This place is set up to be sufficient for a low energy stay, and it will be enough. I loved laying on the mattress, staring through the window as it got dark, being completely surrounded by giant trees. It's a beautiful place, worth staying

  • Quaint cottage with warmth of a log fire, lovely surroundings of native bush land, peaceful, and great tracks for bike riding or walking. An enchanted Forrest ... :)

  • The place was exactly as described, and fulfilled my greatest expectations. It's secluded and surrounded by lovely forest. The cabin is a delight and very peaceful and the hosts are lovely. They were very respectful of privacy but very welcoming.

  • We arrived in the dark after a long drive from Perth. But in the middle of the woods we found this beautiful cabin. The door was open and the fire place was already on! We've spend an amazing evening by the fire; enjoying the comfort and the warmth of the cabin. We slept great and in the morning we heard all the birds! We made a little walk through the woods and enjoyed the superb surroundings of the cabin. It was an fantastic experience and a night to remember!

    Mylene2013-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Kambarang. At first, the kids thought I had made a mistake, but pretty soon they loved the place so much they were already missing it the moment we left. It was a wonderful and relaxing experience and a chance for us to enjoy the serene surrounding of Australia countryside. The cabin was well equipped and we totally felt at home.

    Jennifer2014-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, quiet spot; a lovely weekend away from the stress of city life. Barrie had a fire already going for us upon arrival, Sherry was very friendly and Kevin (the chocolate wattle bat) was most considerate about clearing up stray moths inside! Thoughtful touches throughout the cabin and well-marked trails over the property to roam. We enjoyed every minute ... hoping to be back soon!

Situated in the beautiful Ferguson Valley with wineries and micro breweries close enough to walk to if you feel so inclined! Wonderful views from the house to the ocean with the lights of Bunbury at night. Beautiful cooked breakfast and dinner can be arranged if needed. We have a very quiet retired greyhound who shares the house with us.
The house is an adult retreat so no children. Plenty of parking. Tea and coffee making in your room with a fridge just outside your door in the laundry if needed for that extra bottle of bubbles! TV in your room. No cooking in rooms, no smoking inside. As most of the restaurants in the area only cater for lunch we can arrange dinner or a platter of cheese/pate' etc at extra cost if needed. Great area for walking or mountain biking with many trails close by.

Nestled within the state forest only twelve kilometres from Donnybrook, in the upper reaches of the Capel River Valley, you will find Boronia Farm, a place of tranquillity and peace.
A comfortable 3 bedroom cottage on our 160 acre organic farm, surrounded by state forest. Experience the wildlife, birds, farm animals and organic produce or simply relax and enjoy the serenity of your surroundings.
Donnybrook is a quiet rural town with many attractions. We have the largest free playground in Western Australia. This coupled with the natural beauty of our surroundings keeps bringing people back.
  • Barry and Dale were most accommodating on our family holiday. Our farm experience was excellent and being able to participate in farm 'chores' was such a lovely touch. It was great interacting with the animals and learning more about the management of their organic farm. Nothing was a trouble for either of them and we felt most welcome the whole time we were there. The dam was magnificent and we had a great swim and row in the boat. The nearest town was Donnybrook which was very cute and great if you have young kids who love equipment! We also visited a local winery which we can HIGHLY recommend called Oaktree (I think we have the name correct). Reasonably priced wine and some nice food offerings. Overall, we can highly recommend a stay at Boronia Farm. Thank you for having us.

  • Boronia Farm was the perfect weekend get away. It was just what we needed to relax and return to nature before the end of the school holidays and the ritual of work. Barry and Dale were so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. We loved giving the animals their breakfast and our Son fell in love with Nemo the dog! The dam at the back of the property is amazing and the vista keeps going, we didn't want to leave! A 'heads up' for anyone who wants to stay in contact with the rest of the world - phone reception is patchy - we didn't care, that was the reason we didn't stay in a city or centre of the town! Thank you Barry and Dale for a lovely stay - we will be back.

  • Great spot for a couple of days away, with our dog. Thoroughly enjoyed kayaking on the dam, the tour of the garden, picking fruit off the trees and feeding the alpacas. Thanks for a great stay.

Offering a uniquely Australian and idyllic experience, The Dell Dardanup has been in the same family for 135 years. The grand homestead is perfect for groups of up to ten people and is perfectly situated to explore the surrounding South West region.
Located on 52 hectares of farmland just out of Dardanup near the regional city of Bunbury in the south-west of Western Australia. The property has been in the same family for 135 years and the five bedroom homestead with wrap around verandas was built in 1922 and heavily influenced by the Arts & Crafts Movement which is evident in the decorative jarrah woodwork. French doors lead onto wide verandas perfect for spying kangaroos or sipping a tall drink at dusk. It is a wonderful house for groups of people, it's a social house but with plenty of space so you can have privacy as well. The house is furnished with a collection of family heirlooms original to the home as well as second hand op shop and vintage finds. The beds are dressed with a selection of beautiful bed linen and towels are also provided. The second bathroom is located across the courtyard and not within the house itself.
The Dell is conveniently placed for short day trips to surrounding area’s such as the premium wine growing region of the Ferguson Valley, Donnybrook orchards, historic Bridgetown, tranquil Honeymoon Pool and a slightly further afield Dunsborough & Margaret River.
  • The house was exactly what we needed. Rosie was accomodating to every request. A beautiful experience.

  • Loved how secluded and quiet Larissa's home is, perfect for the weekend getaway we were after. Her spot is quite central for exploring Ferguson Valley and not far from Bunbury at all. Larissa greeted us with a smile and was very helpful, even letting us borrow some toys for my toddler. Great value for money!

    Alexia2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Larissa made me very welcome and showed me around the property. Everything was clean and welcomung including beautiful protea flowers and a bowl of fruit.

    Karen2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • One of the main aims of our trip was to 'rest & recuperate' from a hectic busy city life. All i wanted was to wake up, open the curtains, look out & see nothing but trees. Peace, tranquility, no signal for electronic devises: switch off from the outside world. Forest Escape delivered in spades! The old style wooden pioneer era weatherboard house renovated to a beautiful modern design aesthetic was warm & cosy, our host Larissa was a genuine down to earth & welcoming person who catered to all our needs at very short notice. I would definitely recommend a visit here for anyone wanting to be amongst nature and just chill out. The silence interrupted by the sporadic deep lowing of distant cows in the early morn was especially charming. One day wasn't enough!

    Lola2016-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted to spend a weekend in the country and Larissa's cottage was a great place to do so. Set in the heart of Ferguson Valley, it was a great base to make short trips to the local attractions. The place is basic, but clean and homely and we enjoyed slowing down and taking all afternoon to read the weekend paper, this suited us as we could chill out without the pressure of unnecessarily posh accommodation. We took our dog for walks in the bush nearby and spent an afternoon at the nearby brewery - Ferguson is a less known gem in WA. Larrisa left some nice personal touches, including some breakfast and the use of the fire pit. Best of all - the bed was amazing and felt like pure luxury!

    Michael2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • My family of four stayed here for 3 days over the Easter long weekend. It was the perfect little place to base ourselves to explore the Ferguson Valley and Wellington Forest. Larissa was great to communicate with and super helpful, always getting back to me on the same day to answer my queries. Larissa was away the weekend we stayed but the place was well equipped and everything worked well, we didn't have any problems at all. I was pleasantly surprised to find a dining table and 4 chairs set up for the four of us as the photo on the site shows a table for two. Larissa also left us a lovely bowl of fruit as well as some tea/coffee supplies. The views from all the windows are spectacular and we saw so many beautiful little birds. It was just perfect for our forest getaway.

    Elonn2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Larissa's property was clean and spacious and she was very responsive in answering our queries before arriving at the Forest Escape. It's a beautiful picturesque property that has great viewing of the local bird life, and is an easy place to unwind and relax after a long day of exploring the attractions. Larissa also kindly provided us with a booklet to inform us of how to turn the water and power on and off, and in this same booklet, gave us information on the surrounding area so that we could gain a better understanding of the area so that we could navigate easier and find out which places were the best to eat at. A real selling point for us though, was that Larissa's property was the only accommodation that allowed us the ability to bring our dog with us. He loved to explore the outside of the property and down the road as well. Our son also thoroughly enjoyed the deck at the side of the house with great views of the valley and also the trampoline which he used daily. Although we don't go down south very often, we'll definitely come back to this property when we can. An advantage to us of this location (but may not suit everyone) is that our holiday was completely uninterrupted by any outside contact because there is no mobile phone and internet coverage in this immediate area (but there is about 10 min drive down the road). Thanks Larissa for a brilliant stay and we definitely recommend your property to anyone.

    Dominic2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Larissa place is very nice to stay. The room is clean and comfortable as well as living room, toilet. The surrounding is very quiet, far from town. Good place if you want to be far from the hectic town. You also can see kangaroo near the house.

    Nur2017-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Larissa was very quick to respond to all our questions and was happy to work with our late check in time. The house was located in a beautiful area and we got both the feeling of being away while still being relatively close to the busier towns. There was no phone reception at the house, but we got it just down the road. However, there was no wifi or TV signal at the house either. There were a few bugs in the house, but it was otherwise clean. There was a cat that we had not been notified about. There was also dog and/or cat dander on the blankets. Larissa had provided a good supply of tea and coffee as well as plenty of maps and guides for the surrounding areas. So overall, we had a really good experience and thanks Larissa for letting us stay at your place.

  • We were pleasantly surprised with a bottle of wine at the home upon check in. It was easy to locate the house via (Hidden by Airbnb) map. The house is brand new - sparkly clean and spacious. Good for a family of 2 to 4 to stay. Perfectly situated at a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. It's a short drive away from, Bunbury, Peppermint Grove Beach, Busselton and Dunsborough. We would love to stay here again for our next trip to the South West! Highly recommended.

  • Great place ... to slow things down ... for relaxing family time. Hosts were super helpful.

    James2017-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy was a wonderful host, getting the fire started before we arrived so the cottage would be warm, helping us out with doonas (I misread the bedding note and though we only had to bring sheets and towels - you need to bring blankets too) and communicating frequently. The historic wood cottages are spartan and basic, but the forest setting is lovely, especially the semi-tame kangaroos nibbling the grass. The proximity to Gnomesville and the gorgeous scenic drives Wendy tipped is also fantastic. The kids had a ball and have been talking about "the bush house" ever since. Thanks for having us Wendy!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in the lovely peaceful cottage in the forest, it's a very old heritage building, but very roomy & kept nice and clean. The kitchen is well equipped and has a full size fridge. Such tranquil surroundings with kangaroos grazing around the cottages in the evening & mornings. We enjoyed the delicious fresh mulberries growing near our cottage and our hosts were very helpful and attentive. Just remember to bring your own bedding, towels & food and escape your routine to enjoy the serenity of the forest.

Welcome to our beautiful country home. As seasoned travellers ourselves, we understand your need for privacy but are available to provide assistance and local knowledge to ensure your holiday is an enjoyable one. Ideally situated, we are just a 15 minute leisurely drive from both Bunbury and Busselton in Western Australia’s beautiful south west. Twice voted Western Australia’s top tourism town, Busselton is the entrance to the famous Margaret River wine region.
This modern home is on a quiet, secluded block of over 4000sq metres surrounded by Blue Gums, fruit trees and bird life in the beautiful town of Capel. Your room in a separate area of the house comes with a comfortable queen-sized bed, TV with free Foxtel (after January 3, 2017) and your own private bathroom and toilet facilities. A docking station to charge up those phones and laptops, fragrant handmade soap crafted from natural oils, a hair drier and the use of an iron and ironing board add to this great experience. The room has an electric blanket for those cool nights and an overhead fan for those warm nights as you lay back enjoying your favourite Foxtel shows or checking your messages via the free WiFi. A separate leisure area provides comfortable seating, table and chairs, and also for your use, a 400 litre fridge/freezer. An adjoining room is available at extra cost for up to two children to share a foldout sofa bed. A continental breakfast is provided daily along with tea and coffee facilities, microwave oven and use of the laundry facilities and electric frying pan. There is adequate space outside your window to park a caravan if you are on the road and wish to stop over for a day or two. A love of Asian countries has seen us travel 10 times to China and many other times to Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Consequently our home is full of quirky Australiana and Chinese artifacts. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience great accommodation in a well-placed peaceful location.
Our small but vibrant community has an IGA supermarket, tavern with a wonderful menu serving fresh sea food, a pharmacy, service stations, post office, coffee shops, library, take away food outlets and other services.

Facilities were excellent, it was great to have the lounge area to relax in, in addition to our room and bathroom. We enjoyed our breakfast which included delicious fresh fruit from their garden. Ray's homemade soap was a lovely addition. We would definitely recommend staying here! Thankyou

  • Fantastic welcome by lovely the couple.

    Sharon2017-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely THE BEST airbnb ever!! Ray and Kathy make this place sooo comfortable that it's even better than home. We canceled our next reservation after we arrive, just to stay one more njgnt. The place is spotlessly clean, the bedding is super comfy, and everything smells like heaven. You have your own bathroom and it has everything you need. You can also use the nice big kitchen and a brand new washing machine. A continental breakfast is also provided with cherries and yogurt. Everything here is just so refreshing and with high quality. The location of the room is very good as well. At first I was concerned that this place is not convient. But it turns out that this place is close to everything! Bunbury, busselton, dunsboroug, nannup are all within 1 hour drive. This place is in the middle of everything! There is so much to see and to do if you live here. If I visit southern-west australia again, I would just stay in this one place for several days and visit all those nice beaches instead of moving around all the time. The environment of the house is also very nice. Ray and Kathy plants lots of flowers around. And it has a backyard with all kinds of fruit trees. Cows would roam on a farmland just next to the entrance of the house. And at night, the stars out there are just astonishing. And about Ray and Kathy, I would nominate them as the best house owner if airbnb has an award for that. They are so helpful and considerate and you would feel you have families here. They also respect your privacy very well if you need that. During our two nights stay, Ray and Kathy did so many things for us. They took us to feed baby kangaroos, introduced us to all the fruit trees, gave us lots of grapes and tomatoes that they grow themselves, and even fold our laundry cloth while we were away. We had a car accident that day and Ray drove a long way to help us even though it was almost midnight. Ray and Kathy are very nice person who sincerely care and help others. The two nights staying at this place is the best memory of our western australia trip. Views and experiences are important things for a trip, but eventually it is the people who make you love this land. Staying with Ray and Kathy is the best choice I've made in my trip. And I wish more people would know about this wonderful place. In the welcome brochure the lovely couple prepared for us, they referred their home as a "hidden gem between bunbury and busselton", and I do think it is.

    K2017-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ray and Katty are a very sweet and caring couple who welcomed us so nicely! For our first night in Australia after a long trip it was just perfect. We had a really lovely moment in their cosy home surrounded by a gorgeous garden. The bedroom and bathroom are so confy and Ray even makes his own soap! Really a charming home to go when you visit Margaret River!

  • The lodge is a very well equipped accommodation facility with fantastic views over the gorgeous rural scenery of south western Western Australia. The bedrooms are a mix of double and single beds and all of them have lovely views and very comfortable beds! The shared bathroom facilities are clean and spacious. The first of the the 2 common areas has a large and very well equipped kitchen, a large dining area that can seat up to 16 people and a very comfortable lounge area with a large television and a table tennis table! The second common room has wonderful views, lovely comfortable chairs and sofas with an amazing massage chair which was very popular with our group! Both common rooms have slow combustion fires with all firewood provided. There is a BBQ provided and an outdoor fire pit. The host Darrell was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay a wonderful experience!

    Vicki2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Being city folks, this was the most authentic farmstay experience which didn't compromise on comfort too! The host went the extra mile to place a pile of straw at our doorsteps so we could feed the sheeps next door. He gave us a marron (like a freshwater lobster) trap and we caught our first marron from one of the 3 lakes on the farm! Darrell even gave a few of us a private tour around the farm on his buggy. It's a magical experience for anyone who wants to take a break from the city and have a taste of the farm. The farm lodge was extremely clean, well equipped and even had a touch of luxury (the $8000 Osim massage chair!). It was hard to find a place that could accomodate 20 of us. If you have a big group and wanting to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, this is the place to be.

  • We had a fantastic time at the Hay Shed. It is absolutely gorgeous! And lovely food in the fridge, much more than we expected. Woke up to lambs outside the window and horses and cows in the paddocks! Very convenient for checking out all the little towns nearby. And a lovely friendly host :)

  • Made very welcome, fridge contained eggs, breads, milk, juice, jams and more. We (myself and a staff member) were on a working weekend, so really didn't get to do much more than spend a couple of nights on site. Comfy beds, tv, bedrooms seperated by the living area. All great- in fact we will be back. Location nice and quiet, just a few horses, cows and chooks - a bit of road noise but no hassle at all. WAY WAY WAY better than motels in Bunbury I have used before and cheaper. Love airbnb!

  • Enjoyed waking up in a comfortable bed and listening to the farm animals and the rain on the roof- a cosy fire to sit next to while enjoying a delicious breakfast left by Kelly and the great hosts - Kelly and Greg - for being so generous with their time and hospitality -a great relaxing stay !!

    Therese2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our experience at the Hay Shed. Kelly and Greg were amazing hosts and the location is one of a kind. While it is in the country, it is about 10 min from Bunbury. We were on holiday from the US and were looking for an authentic WA experience...we got it. The barn is located on the back portion of the property overlooking rolling fields and the farm has all kinds of animals on it. Kelly and Greg were very personable and took us on a tour of their farm. Our little one got to feed and pet the horses, run around with the chickens and lambs, and get up close with 40 heads of cattle. He even got to feed the bull. There is an outdoor BBQ, kids swing set and outdoor table to enjoy the vast landscape of the area. Inside, the rooms are very large. Both bedrooms have their own bathrooms and showers. The living room is in-between the bedrooms and has a full kitchen, TV with 2 couches, and even toys for kids and games. We highly recommend the Hay Shed to all!

    Stephanie2016-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend The Hayshed highly enough. Kelly and Greg are wonderful hosts and the Hayshed is clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. It is a lovely spot, an easy distance from the beach and the lovely city of Bunbary.
