“With tons of beers on tap, a lively atmosphere, and a food menu, too, this bar is a popular hangout. Keep an eye out and you're likely to see a few first dates unfolding around you, for some light-hearted people-watching (we wish them all good luck!).”

“THEATRE, MUSIC, DANCE, FILMS, CHORAL, ACAPELLA, OPERA, ACROBATICS, and more... 1000-seat, recently refurbished old theatre with beautiful woodwork, balconies and lobby. Lots of locals who've made it perform here, as well as community performance groups. Right in center of city, close to restaurants, bars, bookstores, shops, etc.”

“Fine dining without the pretension! This is the place to go if you're looking for excellent food. Be sure to call for a reservation. Or try your luck at the bar. The fried chicken is a must. ”

Bar à cocktails

“Creative craft cocktails and a nice ambiance keep us coming back to this downtown bar. That and the delightfully weird stuff they always have playing on the TVs! Two cautions: there is no food served here at all, and the prices on cocktails are a little steep.”

“Great local place to go for dinner and/or drinks. The entrees and apps have always been scrumptious and I dig the 50’s/60’s era hipster decor.”

“Head south on the rail trail to get to Easthampton. There, you'll pass a series of renovated mill buildings that house New City Brewery and Abandoned Building Brewery. These breweries have outdoor seating (as well as indoor) during the summer months, and you should feel free to bring your own pizza or other treats. ”

“Riff's is my go-to spot for seriously good grub. It's like pub-food sandwiches, pizza, burgers, salads and the like, but it's made really well and is always super tasty. Never had a bad meal there. You can also eat and drink at the attached Hideaway Lounge for a more bar-like experience.”

“Packard’s is a bar with real local flavor and lots of colorful artifacts hanging from the ceilings and walls, including numerous signs from local stores and restaurants that have closed or changed their signage. Their dogs, burgers, and fries are all good. They serve food until 11:00 or midnight, depending on the night.”

“A nice wine bar with really good tapas-style food, as well. The atmosphere inside is intimate and candle-lit at night, but before dark in the summer they've also got a really pleasant outdoor seating area.”
