Quartier
“The former market hall Mercat del Born covers archaeological ruins which were part of the La Ribera district that was demolished after the Siege of Barcelona (1713–14) and the defeat of Catalonia in the War of Succession. Another place of interest is the Fossar de les Moreres, the site of a mass grave of Catalan soldiers fallen during the siege of 1714. Part of the quarter of La Ribera was demolished after 1714 to build a military citadel to punish the defeated city. It is also a nice place to walk around and have some drinks!”

“Cal Pep presents a new way of cooking, different from the typical format of appetizers, entreés, then dessert. We have a fresh and bright culinary view, an understanding cooking, with easy and quick preparations. Our restaurant concept grew from the idea of sharing the dishes, their tastes and flavors, in a ‘tapas’-style. ”

Bar à vin
$$

Tapas Restaurant

“Basque style tapas. Take a plate and help yourself, don't throw the pinchos (toothpicks) on the floor because that's how they know how much to charge you! Wash the tapas down with a sidra. The best of this style of restaurant in the area (though a Basque person will tell you that there is no good Basque tapas place in Barcelona).”
