Simple, self-contained, very quiet, converted small stone barn by the coast path east of Charmouth. Ideal retreat for a week, base for a walking weekend or pause on a longer walk. Double bed, shower room, kitchen/sitting area, down the cliffs to the beach & acres all around to roam.
The studio, a small stone barn (separate from, but alongside, our house) is surrounded by National Trust land and just 100 yards from the cliff and coast path. It is just one room, with separate en-suite shower room and loo, and measures about 18x15 feet. There's a comfortable double bed, sofa, table and chairs and galley kitchen with hob, oven and fridge. You can just about see the sea from the window, but step outside and you're free to walk footpaths in all directions through orchid-rich meadows, copses, along tiny streams and find a way down to the beach (about a half-hour walk to the beach). Access is on foot from the coast path or a mile or so down a long, rough track, quite overgrown from late spring onwards (unsuitable for cars that don't like to get muddy or be scratched by brambles, hawthorn, honeysuckle and toadflax). There's parking available immediately outside the shed, but this isn't a good place to come and go by car from regularly - better to use it as a base for walking, writing, painting or retreat. (We can also collect you from the bus in Charmouth or train in Axminster). The barn has wi-fi and a good supply of maps and books. We live across the yard and can help with most other things. If you're arriving on foot we can have food and basics ready for you.
The house is set in the middle of some of the most beautiful scenery in the southwest. Apart from our house across the yard, you can't see another house in any direction. Kestrels sometimes nest nearby, buzzards hang in the sky, owls may wake you at night, ravens drift past, deer and badgers are often seen and almost everyone says they've seen a whale, or at least a whale-shaped dark patch, out to sea. At night, with the house behind you, you get to see the Milky Way against a (for England) very black backdrop. At full moon, the silvery path across the sea in front of you is so inviting.

Camelia Cottage is set in the grounds of Hill Farm, in the heart of the village of Morcombelake. Camelia cottage was originally a beach chalet brought from Seatown beach in the 1950’s. The chalet is a secluded, cosy retreat, hidden away down 12 steps surrounded by a Camelia garden. People are often surprised when they spot Camelia Cottage nestled into the hillside. It is the ideal location for getting away from the hustle and bustle, to enjoy walks by the sea or explore the countryside.
Morcombelake is a small hamlet on the A35 between Bridport and Lyme Regis. It is surrounded by National Trust land which is fantastic for walking. We are a 20 minute walk to the coast path. We are 3 miles to the beaches of Charmouth and Seatown and 4 to Lyme Regis. In the village we have a fabulous farm shop, a tea room and the famous Moores Biscuits shop. Our local pub The Five Bells is a mile away in Whitchurch Canonicorum. In the neighbouring village of Seatown we have the award winning Anchor Inn pub and of course there are many wonderful restaurants, pubs, theatres, markets and much more in the nearby towns of Bridport and Lyme Regis.

“The Tallet” means wheelwright’s shop. The original building dates from the 18th century and was converted in the 1920’s to Arts & Crafts style that gives it a unique character. It is situated in the grounds of a larger property known as Littlehill but is separate, and has its own access and parking. It is completely private and quiet and close to the swimming pool and conservatory that are for guests use. There are many lovely walks in the area the Heritage Coastline being 1 1/2 miles distant.
The cottage has been refurbished to high standard. The accommodation is for 2 people and comprises, on the ground floor, an open plan living area with a modern kitchen at one end, partly separated by a small internal staircase to the first floor from, at the other end, the living dining and sitting room area with an open fireplace, TV and DVD, and bookshelves. . A patio door opens out onto a south facing stone terrace and small completely private garden with a pond. Upstairs there is a comfortable bedroom with kingsize double bed (or two singles if required) and a bay window which overlooks the garden. This is en suite with the bathroom and WC. A large oak door opens out onto from the bathroom to a veranda (seen in the upper part of the photograph) that has separate covered stairway access from the outside ground floor level. There are fine views from the veranda to Lyme bay in the distance over the lower or evening terrace, swimming pool, and 3 acres of gardens open to guests. Adjoining the evening terrace is an old fashioned conservatory with large curved windows (the building to the right in the photograph). You can see the most wonderful sunsets from the evening terrace, framed by the pool and gardens, and with the pinpoints of lights appearing at Charmouth and at Lyme Regis across Lyme Bay. The approach is via a single track road to Whitchurch Canonicorum. From the A35 at Morcombelake. “The Tallet” is an ochre yellowish coloured house with green wall top fencing 1/3 of a mile along this road, and is the first of three houses that you come to on the left hand side .The Main House and other buildings are further down the road. The cottage entrance and parking space for one car are opposite Taylors Lane.
For walkers and sightseers there are many places of interest within easy reach of the property in this outstandingly beautiful part of Dorset. These include the National Trust trails and preserved sites such as the Golden Cap Estate, Lambert Castle, Lewesdon Hill and Hardown Hill and Stonebarrow Hill. There are many picturesque, unspoilt villages in the area. The coast line, which is easily accessible via a small beach at St Gabriel’s Gap some 1 ½ miles distant, is famous for its rich fossiliferous rocks. This part of the coastline now has World Heritage status. The town of Lyme Regis, famous for its picturesque harbour and “The Cobb”, and of Bridport, a busy and prosperous market town still with fishing interests, are each about 10 minutes away by car.

A friendly welcome into our warm and cosy log cabin set in the cherry orchard along with the use of our spa with the big Jacuzzi and Sauna. The Cabin is set in a lovely cherry orchard in a coastal village on a quiet and historic lane with views of the cliffs. We have had literally hundreds of happy guests who all enjoy the peace and tranquility of our cherry orchard. It is set within the village and so very near great pub/restaurants and shop. It really is a cabin in the orchard!
Enjoy the highly insulated and toasty warm cabin in winter, or lie in the Orchard under the trees. The cabin is 7m x 4m, and you can Barbecue, and visit the Beach and experience the fine local pubs that serve great food and ale. There are 3 pubs within walking distance! Explore the Majestic Cliffs of the Jurassic coast you may even encounter a fossil if you're lucky. Discover BRIDPORT known as “foodie heaven” tasting lots of local cuisine, visit picturesque Lyme Regis and enjoy getting blown off the famous cob. Excellent opportunities for outdoor sports with ample walking, running and cycling trails. Note you are really close to nature i.e. the odd bird and spider make their presence felt as it really is a log cabin in an orchard :-)
The famous Jurassic Coast of Dorset has been awarded World Heritage Site status. The Dorset and East Devon coastline where countless fossils have been found is a remarkable place. The coast includes the highest point on the south coast right here at Seatown of Golden Cap and the historic nearby resort of Lyme Regis. If you like food we are situated in a Foodie heaven, and Bridport will hopefully ring a bell… it is home to the original River Cottage where Hugh started his quest of local, home grown and foraged stuff. Love food, love West Dorset! You'll find fantastic produce grown in the area and that chefs did not wait for celebrities to tell them to cook local. Take the Riverside two-course meal from £16.50 in West Bay, Bridport's harbour. Bang in the middle of this unpretentious fishing harbour, it looks like a large wooden hut sitting on the river Brit. Fish is the speciality, of course, straight from Lyme Bay. Also the Anchor Pub in Burton, for great food, and the Three Horseshoes... Another good place to enjoy fresh seafood is the Hive Beach Café in Burton Bradstock also fantastic. These guys are committed to local. There's something tasty for all purses.

Wonderful walks from the door with spectacular views, good local farm shop and easy access to great beaches and the towns of Lyme Regis, Bridport and Charmouth. It adjoins our home, and shares our drive, but provides total privacy, with self check in and self check out possible.
The Old Studio is a larger than average annexe in the beautiful Marshwood Vale, and a comfortable get away whatever the weather. We are very sorry to say that due to the coronavirus situation we are not taking bookings for April and May, and will update this listing if we need to extend that period. We would be delighted to receive bookings for later in the year and can reassure you that if these subsequently have to be cancelled you will get a full refund. The Old Studio is in the heart of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the Jurassic Coast, and just a couple of miles from Golden Cap. It is ideal for 2 adults, and can accommodate 3 as a 3rd person can sleep on the single sofa bed in the kitchen diner. Please note there is an additional charge for a 3rd guest . The kitchen diner (4.4mx3.3m) is well equipped and has a full size dishwasher, double oven with ceramic hob, microwave, fridge freezer, bluetooth DAB radio, dining table and chairs and love seat which converts to the single sofa bed. The bed sitting room (5.4mx3.6m) is accessed via the kitchen diner, and has a king size bed, dressing table, wardrobe, 3 seater sofa, Freeview enabled TV with HDMI cable so you can connect to a laptop, DVD/CD player, books, DVDs and games. The shower room (accessed via the bed sitting room) has toilet, shower, wash basin, heated towel rail and airing cupboard - where an indoor drying rack, iron and ironing board are stored. Superfast broadband is available over our wifi. There is a seating area just outside the front door which catches the afternoon sun . In addition there is a large dedicated guest garden area which is a great spot for your morning coffee or to sit around the log fire in the firepit in the evening. This is a short walk from the annexe, along a grassy path with steps and slopes. It is surrounded by mature trees and hedges, and offers fabulous views. The guest garden area is large enough for a child to let off steam, and is equipped with a table, chairs , bench and firepit with BBQ grill. Our house is tucked away at the end of a secluded lane, in an acre of garden, nestled into the side of the National Trust's Hardown Hill with its panoramic views over West Dorset. The Old Studio offers a real sense of retreat from the world. We have amazing dark skies, and stargazing is a real treat on a clear night. We hear no traffic noise at all, and often the only sound you will hear at night is owls, and on waking is bird song - yet we are less than 10 minutes from the coast. There are great walks with spectacular views straight from the front door, but we are very close to Bridport, Charmouth and Lyme Regis. These foodie seaside towns , as well as having great beaches, offer a vibrant mix of markets, cafes, restaurants, galleries, museums and independent shops which are open all year round. The space is not suitable for toddlers, and we have not provided any baby or safety equipment. However if you want to bring an infant who is not yet crawling, you are welcome to do so, and there is plenty of space to put up a travel cot. The sofa bed in the kitchen diner is also suitable for an older child, and has a mattress much the same size as a single airbed. We provide milk, tea, coffee, eggs, butter, homemade bread and jam and kitchen basics including olive oil, sugar, salt and pepper, so that you can make a simple supper or breakfast on arrival. Fresh vegetables from our kitchen garden may also be available in season. An initial supply of kindling, logs and firelighters are supplied for the firepit. All the paintings on the walls of the annexe are by Eddie, and are available to purchase at a discount price to our guests. Full details are in the printed manual in the accommodation. Guests should note that there is a single step to access the front door, and there are two steps between each room. The annexe is connected to the main house by a locked door in the kitchen diner. As well as the indoor airing cupboard and drying rack, there are outdoor drying facilities (in the garden and under cover) for wetsuits etc. There is undercover storage for bikes, kayaks, surf boards etc if you are bringing those . Please bring your own beach towels. Access to the property is down an unmade lane, which may be tricky if you have a very low slung sports car, but which we manage without any problem at all in our basic mini. There is space for one guest car to park adjacent to the annexe. Your key will be in a key safe, and we will give full directions and access details once your booking is confirmed.
We are a couple of miles inland from the National Trust Golden Cap Estate on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, and there are several beaches, and many miles of the South West Coast Path, all within very easy reach. Our favourite beaches are Seatown with its beachside gastro pub, The Anchor, the unspoilt Eype and Charmouth with its fossils and Heritage Centre. There are numerous great walks that you can do from The Old Studio without needing to use the car, and within minutes you can be enjoying spectacular views of the Marshwood Vale, Lyme Bay and Golden Cap. The vibrant, creative market town of Bridport with its host of independent shops, arts venues , eateries and events is less than 4 miles to the East. Charmouth, with its sandy beaches and fossil hunting haunts is 3 miles to the west and Lyme Regis, with its famous cobb, dinosaur museum, restaurants and winding lanes is just west of there. Ryall is a hamlet, and sits between the villages of Whitchurch Canonicorum and Morcombelake. Morcombelake is a mile away, and has the wonderful Felicity's Farm Shop where you can get everything you need for a short stay. It also has Annie's Tea Room and the Old Moore's Biscuit Factory which has a fully stocked deli, and bakes the most delicious pastries and bread several days a week. The Five Bells pub in Whitchurch Canonicorum is half a mile away, and serves locally brewed Palmers beer and traditional pub grub.

We imagine this little Shepherds Hut originally from Suffolk was owned by a shepherdess with a love for watching the weather. Inside you will find a cosy bed and roaring woodburner for cold nights. This little hut sits in a rolling meadow.
This is a simple little hut with a comfy bed. It's a real get away from the rest of the world using only candles for light at night. Outside you have your own mini fire pit to cook on and a bench and little table. There is a hot shower and a compost toilet further down the meadow. There is a tap outside but no inside cooking space. There are lots of brilliant places to eat very close by which I can tell you about. The sea is only 10 mins drive away.
You are staying in a secret little meadow at the back of a farm. In the village there are pubs and lots of great eateries a short drive away. The area is famous for its fossils, beaches and beautiful little harbour in Lyme Regis. We have excellent restaurants run by Mark Hix and the River Cottage close by and lots to do locally including fishing trips and regular festivals

  • quel endroit incroyable!

Vraiment charmant.

Stunning, quiet little cottage nestled in the hills of Marshwood Vale 3 miles from the sea. Sip wine on the terrace surrounded by wildlife, stargaze from your bed or visit all the wonderful things Lyme Regis, Bridport and this area have to offer.
A delightful little cottage at the edge of a quiet village set in the Marshwood Vale. Wonderful walking through the vale, to the sea, or on the national trust land along the coast, all from your front door or a very short drive. Maps in the cottage and we are happy to help with routes. Although for two it is very spacious, with a large double bedroom, skylight above the bed, (with a blackout blind if you prefer no starlight!) large cottage kitchen diner, sitting room, wonderful bathroom with extra deep enamel bath and drenching shower. Outside you have the decked, covered terrace with masses of seating, comfy chairs and dining chairs/table, and patio heaters. The house is full of character and light, a truly restful place to be with masses to do on your doorstep. The cottage allows for a dog or two, the garden has a dog proof fence around it...unless they are high jumpers. We don't allow them in the bedroom and there is a gate to stop them.
Bonhays Barn is ideally situated for the Jurassic Coast, wonderful walking, watersports and the vibrant local towns of Bridport and Lyme Regis. Bridport with its markets (Weds/Sat), vintage section and wonderful Cafes and restaurants. Lyme Regis is famous for its beauty as a seaside town, restaurants and many festivals throughout the summer.

Welcome to Baba Yaga’s Boudoir! A beautiful little cabin-on-wheels tucked away at the bottom of a small farm focussed on sustainability and spiritual practise, hidden in a willow wood and overlooking a wild pond.
We built Baba Yaga’s Boudoir with creativity and ecology at the centre of its design. Using reclaimed materials where possible and a compost loo, yet with good kitchen amenities, a lovely hot shower and strong WiFi, this little cabin really is an escape to nature with all the comforts of home. The large decking receives beautiful dappled light during the day and a stunning view of the moon at night. It’s the perfect spot for brunch, yoga, sunbathing and playing music during the day, whilst at night lots of warm blankets and the chiminea can keep you warm whilst you stargaze.
Baba Yaga’s Boudoir is a mere 5 minute drive to the lovely beach at Charmouth and not much further from the beautiful beaches of Eype and Seatown. Equidistant from the bustling market town of Bridport and picturesque Lyme Regis (the home of Mary Anning!) you’re perfectly placed to explore this beautiful part of the jurassic coast. This area is a hub of gorgeous places to eat, fun bars and great local shopping. If you’re looking for a more active stay just pop me a message and I can help you organise a range of fun things to do, from paddle boarding to horse riding.

The Annex is bright, comfortable and cosy with new wood burner this winter. The public footpath crossing our garden next to the river Char links with many others - great for dog walkers. We are close to Charmouth beach and Lyme Regis – renowned for their fossil treasures. Love swimming? our freshwater pool is generally heated to a very cosy 29 - 30 degrees (warm bath temperature) and can be used at all times of year With advance notice, the twin beds can be connected to form a king size bed
Whilst the Annexe is attached to the Main House, privacy would be respected at all times. Full refurbishment has recently been completed and a private deck added. There is plenty of off street parking and you will have a warm welcome from Stephen and Di. We have two friendly dogs of our own and your own dog/s are welcome too. The Kitchen is well kitted out but but there are also a number of excellent places to eat in the area, including the famous River Cottage in Axminster.
We are largely in the middle of farmland and ask that dog owners respect the requirements of farmers in terms of their livestock; i.e. that any potential sheep worrying dogs are kept under control.

The Pavilion is a great place to rest and strike out from. The beach is 1.5 miles away. It is on a network of footpaths in the middle of it's own organic farmland. Bridport and Lyme Regis offer plenty of art and culture and are reknown for food, River Cottage and the Jurassic Coast. There is nothing better than being warm and cosy around the wood burner looking out at the great views. The Pavilion is good for couples, solo adventurers, art lovers, foodies and furry friends (pets)..
The Pavilion is an independent house with its own parking and fenced garden. I also welcome people to help themselves from the adjacent fruit trees and am happy to share my vegetables if people ask so I can point out what I’m trying to grow on.
Although an independent farm. There is a shop in the village and 2 pubs. There are plenty more within 10 minute drives including the well known River Cottage and Anchor at Seatown. Bridport is a lively town with a great market and arts eating scene. Lyme Regis is beautiful and there are plenty of good beach some with fossils such as Seatown Eype Charmouth and West Bay

10 minutes’ drive from the beaches of the Jurassic Coast, between Bridport & Lyme Regis is Hodders Farm & the Hodders Hut. Our Shepherds Hut is fully kitted out, totally luxurious & very snug. It has a kingsize bed, with a goose down duvet, proper shower/loo, fitted kitchen, & desk. Wifi & DAB radio. The hut is super warm, insulated with sheep’s wool, there’s a log-burning stove, a radiator & heated towel rail. For sunny days there’s a BBQ & a seating area for eating al fresco. Dog friendly.
The shepherd's hut is basically one room with a separate shower/toilet. The inbuilt king size bed is at one end. The fitted mini kitchen & table are along the back wall. The fold down desk/table is next to it. On the other wall there is a double window at the end of the bed so you wake up to this lovely view. Next there is an electric radiator. Then the double stable doors. All the woodwork is lovely crafted oak. In the corner there is a tiny woodburning stove. Then at the opposite end of this 18ft hut, there is a door to a fully fitted shower room. The loo has a wooden seat & high cistern, it is mains drainage. Hot water is constant. Basin & small cupboard for make up etc. Outside there is a gravelled seating area with table, chairs & gas BBQ. Also a couple of steamer chairs for sunbathing. We say no children for safety reasons, there is an unfenced off pond.
Ryall is a hamlet. Our immediate neighbours are farmers. This is lovely, for instance in Spring we were able to watch new born lambs in the field below gambolling about like idiots. Now we are helping by having a few ewes in our orchard. There are cattle on the hillside and lots of dopey pheasants in the lanes & our garden driving Freddie mad. We are off the beaten track yet at the end of our lane is the A35 with access to Bridport a few miles east, Lyme Regis six miles west, and all the beaches of the Jurassic Coast to the South. Bridport is a wonderfully busy town with lots of events, cinema, music & art. There's a great literary festival in November, music & arts festivals. Bridport is a Foodie heaven. Many very good local restaurants & cafes. Lots of independent shops, butchers & bakers.

It is a tranquil & heavenly escape from the bustle of daily life.
