  • We couldn’t have found a better place to stay close to Oban. It’s in the middle of the countryside, lovely and cosy home full of beautiful details. Janine had special details for us we will never forget. High recommended if you are looking for quiteness, romantic experience and excellent confort.

    Sergi2018-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house is pretty, clean and with a beautifoul view. Janine is a sweet and kind person.

  • What a fantastic wee place. We were blown away by the location and Janine's generous welcome pack and amenities. Clearly a lot of thought and care has gone into this space, I love the quirky arty style and the warm welcoming atmosphere it has. The wood burner was excellent during the rainy nights we had, very romantic. The location itself is a perfect base for many things; Oban is half an hour away by car and is easily reached by bus. Just up the road is Sealife Adventures, I recommend the whale watching tour. Mull is a ferry ride away, and if you're feeling adventurous you can get to Fort William in under 2 hours and climb Nevis! The washing machine and dryer was really appreciated when we got back! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place, and I would love to come back. We got engaged on our last night here, so it's become a very special place for us.

  • Absolutely loved the Wee Blue Sea Hoose! It was just as the photos showed, beautiful quaint house and an amazing view. Janine was very helpful and left amazing personal touches for us to enjoy. The neighbour who had lit the fire for our arrival and spoke to us as we left was lovely and friendly (although we felt we were completely alone on our own wee island for our entire stay). Amazing value for money.

  • The Wee Hoose with big views and scenery. The Wee Blue Sea Hoose is a beautiful chalet located in a stunning location with views of the bay. We have had such a great time, Janine is great host and her neighbours are nice folks too. This is a great place to stay whether you want to unwind by the logburner and look outside or use it as a place for a base to explore. Oban is nearby for Aldi / Lidl and catching a ferry to Mull and the other Islands. It is also a nice drive if you fancy hiking in the Highlands. We managed Ben Nevis and got back at a reasonable time. The Isle of Seil and Easdale has great pubs too with a good selection of whiskeys / ale and great seafood. Thanks Janine x

  • An utterly enchanting and magical location with incredible views. The chalet was full of style and character and had everything we could have ever needed. Would recommend a trip to Easedale, we spent nearly a whole day, walking, swimming, exploring and stone skimming.

Studio "Pod" located 2 miles from the foot of Ben Nevis and 1.5miles from Fort William town centre. The Pod is in front of our house and overlooks Loch Linnhe to the front and a view of Ben Nevis to the rear. The pod has double bed and a sofa bed, shower room and cooking area. Ideally this the pod is set up for couples or families with a young child so please keep this in mind when booking. (Although 4 people can stay the space is suited for less).
The pod can accommodate 4 people (6m x 3m floor area) although the sofa bed is a small double so it might get a bit cramped if you have older children or are two adults sharing (ideally sofa bed would be for one adult or two small children). Tea, coffee, cereal/porridge, bananas, breakfast bars & milk will be provided for breakfast.
The pod is about a 2-3minute walk to the nearest bus stop which can take you into the town centre.

Situated on a small Scottish island called Kerrera, our chalet is a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of mainland life. Take time out to reconnect with each other while exploring our beautiful island, a short ferry ride from Oban.
The chalet sits on the edge of a beautifully sheltered bay on the island of kerrera. After exploring the island during the day, enjoy sitting on the deck listening to the sea, warning your toes on the fire and enjoying the spectacular night skies that we are lucky enough to take for granted.
Kerrera is situated 650 m from the mainland and has 47 people living on it. It is easily accessible from the mainland, however once you are on the island it feels like you are a million miles away from the crazy mainland world. Kerrera is very peaceful and tranquil, it is also very beautiful and full of the most amazing wildlife. Kayakers will enjoy exploring our rocky coastline before beaching your boats in the sheltered bay below the chalet. Bird watchers and animal lovers will be delighted by the sea eagles and golden eagles floating over the roof, the wild goats and the very shy roe deer, the otters lounging on the beach, the cheeky porpoises playing in the bay before carrying on up the sound, we even had a resident sperm whale for a couple of weeks which was pretty special! Families will love the freedom to run on the beach, splash in the bay, climb on the rocks and adventure out along the rugged coastline to the castle before staggering up to the tea garden for a well earned piece of cake to help you home. Artists.... I dont know where to begin, just bring your art pad, pencils, charcoal, paint, camera, whatever you need to try and capture the essence of this amazing island! The fitness fanatics, we host the craggy island triathalon run by durty events, come practise the route or freestyle your own training routes. Whatever your holiday plan may be, just kick back, relax and soak up the Scottish weather.
  • We had a perfect stay in Gill's chalet and couldn't have asked for a friendlier host. Gill was there whenever we needed her but also gave us plenty of space to explore the island ourselves. We hope to return soon!

    Darryl2016-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is perfectly situated to discover the island. We spent five days there, just the right time to walk to the north, the south, the castle and around the mountain. It might not be sunny all the time (well, we were there in October) but with the right equipment we would fully recommended it or everyone who low quiet and even lonely places!

    Caroline2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for a week and would thoroughly recommend it. Great walks from your doorstep and regular ferries back to the mainland, although we could have easily spent our whole time on the island. The cabin was more spacious than expected which was a bonus. The tea shop was very nice, good cake, so would recommend a visit there as well as the restaurant at Oban marina (on the island, forgotten the name of the restaurant) and a visit to the castle is worth the short walk. All in all a lovely holiday with lovely people and great hosts.

    Naomi2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • I went here with a couple of friends and for what we wanted the chalet was perfect. It is nice and quiet and ideally located to allow you to roam the island. The view from the chalet (and generally anywhere on the island) is fantastic. The hosts are great and gave us all the info we needed to get to and from the island. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, hob, microwave and kettle. The cupboards were also fairly well stocked with tea, coffee, sugar and a few other kitchen essentials. I would recommend this as a place to stay.

    Vivek2018-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, the chalet was clean comfortable and well equipped. Walks on your doorstep. Felt like a home from home and the lifts to and from the ferry really helped.

    Siobhan2018-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Gill is a super mega Host! We had an amazing time and a wonderful new year eve, we were invited by Gill and all the habitants of the island to celebrate it with them, such a great time!!!! The island is stunning, the view is just amazing! I recommend this place to everyone, the habitants of the island are so nice and friendly!

    William2018-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 4 night stay in the chalet in September. Ideal base for exploring the island - stunning location and very comfortable. Quiet and peaceful and the neighbours and day trippers were all very friendly. Zoe and Gill were excellent hosts and drove us to and from the chalet with our luggage. They left us to enjoy the place but we knew they were only a call away should we need anything. Although Oban is only a couple of miles away from the ferry I suggest you take everything with you on Day One and then just enjoy being away from it all. We had planned to take a day trip to Oban mid stay but in the end decided not to break the magic spell of being on Kerrera. We were sad to leave and will hope to return before too long.

    Simon2016-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you wish to get away from it all, this is the place to go. And if you get the weather, you will never want to leave ;)

Self check in worked seamlessly. There is a Spar grocery outlet in the village of Salen, walking distance from the cabin. Great stay.

Jo and Tom are great hosts and were very welcoming and gave us some great tips on local travel and eating recommendations. Definitely plan for a return trip at some stage

    Andre2018-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very smart lodges with all amenities and touches in a lovely part of Mull. We used it as a base to explore everywhere from Ulva island to Tobermory, and were pleasantly surprised at how many things there were to do. The hosts are knowledgeable on the many artisan producers that are on the doorstep including the veg boxes from Glengorm Gardens (a must!), the Dervaig artisan bakery, and the various fish and shellfish providers. The lodge was a great place to spend time with kids/dog and was very clean and well-specced with toys/games/towels/kitchen gear etc. The Wi-Fi was a little slow especially in the evenings but that’s pretty much the only negative. Highly recommended

  • Fantastic place to stay. The kids loved the top room, and the whole lodge was lovely. It was a great base to explore a beautiful island, and if the weather hadn't been as glorious as it was then it would have ben a delightful place to watch the rain from. Highly recommended.

  • We had a great time in Colonsay and this was the perfect base for our trip. Really nice little place and everything we needed. Thanks

  • Lovely, warm and cosy lodge. It is big enough for 5 people. The upstairs bedroom is more spacious then photo shows it, my kids had plenty of space. The kitchen is well equipped to cook for a family. The lodge is walking distance to the hotel/shop/cafe/ferry/book shop/GP. The owner was very helpful/accommodating when we had to extend our stay. It was very easy to get in touch with her. We had a great time on Colonsay, it is lovely place to visit. Thank you

    Andrea2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great for a stay on Colonsay. We had 5 people and it was fine but 4 people would make it more "comfy." The hotel/bar/restaurant are literally at your front door, great place to eat and hang out.

    Matthew2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay, comfortable, well equipped, children loved their own space upstairs. Perfect location for the hotel serving good food. Highly recommended

    Francesca2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely island. But check out was early when the ferry doesn't leave until four. You can leave your luggage at the Inn but that still leaves you essentially homeless in a very rural area, potentially in the freezing rain, for nine hours.

Located in the heart of Glencoe The Bunkie offers budget accommodation for individuals or small groups The Bunkie shares the private garden of Minard Cottage. There is a decking area with table + chairs The Bunkie has over the years provided accommodation for many famous and infamous Scottish climbers With it's quirky rail siding ladder (not for the feint hearted) the Bunkie provides comfortable accommodation in the heart of Glencoe The Bunkie can sleep 5 persons, we would advise no more than 3
Small but perfectly formed the Bunkie provides excellent budget accommodation in the heart of Glencoe. The entrance hall provides a drying area for wet jackets and boots. While the open plan kitchen/seating area has a slimline four ring electric cooker with oven and grill, a microwave and full size fridge freezer. All cooking essentials are supplied. The sitting area has a small double sofa bed, a tub seat and a collapsible dining table with 4 chairs, Tv and electric fire. The bed room upstairs has a double bed, a single bed, a single camp bed and two sets of drawers. Due to the combed ceiling there is no hanging space upstairs. There is a shower room and toilet downstairs.
The original cottage dates back to the 18th century and sits above the old ferry crossing point for the MacDonald burial islands in Loch Leven. The cottage gets its name from the village of Minard on the shores of Loch Fyne in Argyll. Glencoe is the perfect base to explore the Highlands of Scotland. Oban (the seafood capital of Scotland is about 45 mins to the south). From Oban, day trips can be made to the Isle of Mull, Iona, Lismore and beyond. Fort William (the outdoor capital of the UK is about 30 mins to the north) and a continued drive to Mallaig, on the world famous Road to the Isles, takes in some of the most breathtaking scenery anywhere in the world. Glencoe Ski Centre is about 15mins drive away and it is easy to be first on the slopes. The world famous mountains of Glencoe are all within walking distance of the front door. Cycle paths surround the area giving challenging downhill mountain biking through to tarmac cycle lanes on the Atlantic Coast Trail. The immediate area is well served with convenience stores, banking facilities, garage, hardware, gift shops, bars and restaurants. The area is one of the most important for history in Scotland. The infamous Glencoe Massacre took place in 1692 and you should visit the massacre site and the monument. This area was also strongly Jacobite and 'came out' in 1715 and 1745 to support the Stuart Cause. This is perhaps best seen from nearby Glenfinnan, where there is a visitor centre and monument. The best way to visit Glenfinnan is by Steam Train, over the bridge featured in Harry Potter. The whole of Lochaber is at the heart of the TV Show Outlander. This follows on the back of other movies made in the immediate area such as Rob Roy, Highlander, Harry Potter, Skyfall and Braveheart. Come and see for yourself why so many movies are set here.

  • We had an amazing 5 days exploring Glencoe and The Bunkie was the perfect base from which to do so. We loved the quirkiness of the stepladder and would certainly stay here again!

The chalet is only a field away from the shore of Lochailort, and it looks onto the loch. There is a small beach which is safe for bathing and boats. For children, it is a wild and natural playground. It has double bedroom, a twin-bedded room, hall, bathroom and lounge-dining-kitchen area. A balcony at the front is accessed through french doors. The lounge-dining-kitchen area is open plan. Recently refurbished, there is oak flooring throughout.
Vicky, the chalet, is one of five purpose built chalets situated in Moidart, 33 miles West of Fort William. They are set in a marine protected area and an area of considerable natural beauty and enjoy a rare commodity - peace and quiet - with magnificent views of the Hebridean Islands from the beach to the west and hills all around. We are located on the shores of Loch Ailort, a sea loch that opens into the Sound of Arisaig. The highest hill for quite a distance - Roisbheinn - rises steeply out of the loch at the back of the farm to just under 3000 feet. For the adventurous, the views from the top are almost too spectacular to describe. We are in an excellent position for those who want to tour Lochaber and even further afield - whether it is a boat trip to Skye and the Small Isles, a ride on the steam train or just a walk in the hills. There is a wealth of history in Moidart, not least the associations with 'Bonnie Prince Charlie' and the Jacobite movement; and with all the natural flora and fauna you will run out of time to see and do it all.

  • This is a special place and perfect getaway for some peace in a beautiful location. It’s a great place to stay and explore the sounds, the coast and beaches, the wildlife and seal colonies and the small isles. We highly recommend Denise as a host who will look after you and cater for all of your needs.

  • Spent 3 days a Roshven chalets. Stunning location and view, with the beach only one field away. Host was lovely, very welcoming and went the extra mile, which was very much appreciated. The chalet was very warm and comfortable, and had everything we could need. No WiFi access from chalet but we were aware of this before booking. We loved seeing the deer come through our field in the evening. Very relaxing time spent there. Perfect for those who love to enjoy the countryside and views.

  • My husband and I had the most wonderful two nights at Denise’s gorgeous chalet. It is very clean, warm and homely. Our only regret is that we didn’t book an extra night as the setting is absolutely stunning with its rugged mountains and white sandy beach in your own big backyard. The chalet is right away from the hustle and bustle of tourists on a quiet farm with chooks nearby. Denise’s home made raspberry jam is divine and a thoughtful touch along with fresh farm eggs that she supplied. Denise is a great communicator and a super host. She is very friendly, helpful and hospitable making our stay a most memorable and special one. If you are intending to use the ferry from Mallaig to the Isle of Skye I do recommend that you book well ahead of time as we didn’t and missed out on this experience. We highly recommend a stay in one of Denise’s lovely chalets.

  • Lovely place, very peaceful and perfect for connecting with nature. Denise’s hospitality is impeccable, she left fresh eggs and local jam/marmalade for us. The cabins were clean, internet a bit temperamental but there is WiFi available in the Denise’s main house. My toddler had so much fun feeding the hens, we enjoyed our 3days and happy to go back in the future.

The Bunkhouse is right at the heart of Ardtornish Estate, on the Estate Courtyard close to the Information Centre, and offers a rustic accommodation option for those travelling on a budget.
Unlike our other properties, which generally rent by the week during the high season, the bunkhouse is available to rent by night, either by bed, by room, or for the whole place.
Ardtornish Estate spreads out around Loch Aline, a huge, wooded, U-shaped bay, a natural haven.

The Chalet's south-westerly position on Scotland's beautiful West Coast is one of breathtaking seascapes & tranquility, with stunning, uninterrupted views across Asknish Bay to the islands of Shuna, Scarba and Jura. • Traditional wooden chalet sleeps 2 (+ 1-2) • Bedroom with small double & single beds • Open plan kitchen & lounge + dining table & sofa-bed • Fully equipped kitchen • Shower-room with hand basin & toilet • TV, DVD & CD player • Washing machine & tumble dryer
You'll be mesmerised by the ever-changing picture beyond the lounge window, and garden furniture is provided to encourage you outdoors to become part of the view! The Chalet accommodates two extremely comfortably. If you're 6' tall or more or close, you may find the double bed somewhat challenging as it abuts walls at both head and foot (see picture) - please get in touch if you have any queries. The sofa-bed in the lounge extends sleeping accommodation for a per-person consideration, although you may find things a tad compact if sleeping 4 for more than a few days.
Our nearest 'big toon' of Oban, ~20-miles / 45 minutes by car, is well served by excellent Tesco, Lidl & Aldi stores, as well as a myriad of restaurants and bars, a bijou cinema, and a long sandy beach at Ganavan.

This property has a lovely view of the loch as well as the stunning mountain scenery. Mountain View has its own private garden area, grassed and with a patio. The beach is just 160 metres away down the owner’s private track.
You have a large livining room, dining area, kitchen, shower room with toilet, twin room, double room with king sized bed and en suite bathroom. Outside there is a large enclosed garden with patio area and furniture. A large outside shed with washing machine and room to hang wet clothes and extra storage.
Staying in any one of our properties you will have chosen one of the most stunning areas to visit in the West of Scotland, if not in the whole of Scotland. Choosing Taynuilt (12 miles east of Oban) as your base will be one of the best decisions you make for your Scottish holiday of a lifetime. You have the choice of a cottage style apartment, 3 bedroomed cottage, 3 new log cabins, static caravan or mobile home. Your holiday home has with its own garden, patio and parking area. It is situated on a slightly elevated position 130m from the shores of Loch Etive, the fabulous views from all windows and the garden are just quite simply stunning. There is a seemingly endless list of things for you and your family to do in the area. This whole area is of outstanding natural beauty. The wildlife is probably second to none, eagles, ospreys, otters, basking sharks and deer to name but a few. Not only that, your ways of accessing the wildlife and landscape are endless. Oban or as it's known "The Gateway to the Isles" is just 12 miles away, where you can catch a ferry to numerous locations. Hire kayaks or small boats to explore the coastline yourselves or go one of the many varied boat trips to see seals and puffins. Go walking in the hills, bag a Munro! Or if you fancy doing something different from normal go diving, horse riding, climbing, archery, wind surfing, cycling, gliding, golfing or sailing. Almost every outdoor activity can be done in this area. Or just have a relaxing stroll round one of the many gardens open to the public. The area has many fine restaurants, tea rooms and pubs to enjoy our local produce in. Oban is rightly named the "Seafood Capital of Scotland". This holiday home is ideal for all ages. It is an easy walk to the village which has a pub, tea room, Post Office, hairdresser, butcher and grocer (which has a fantastic stock). There is really no need to leave the village if you are needing a peaceful relaxing holiday. The village has bus and train links into Oban or elsewhere. Golf Course, Tennis Court, boat hire, fishing, archery and sports field in the village.
  • Fiona was very welcoming and left us to it. She let us know she was available should we hsve needed her.

  • Great location, friendly hosts and everything we needed for a comfortable stay with an infant.

    Charlie2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The views surrounding the lodge are second to none, we often found ourselves waking up in the morning in awe at what greated us. The lodge was perfect for what we needed, within a reasonable difference of lots to explore on the west coast and perfect for a cosy night in. We could not fault our stay and highly recommend to anyone.

    Stuart2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at Mountain View. The cabin is bright with amazing views of the loch and neighbouring mountains. It was a lovely quiet place to return to after a busy day of sightseeing and we enjoyed sipping prosecco on the front porch! The beds were also incredibly comfortable and we slept very well, despite sheep and chickens being on your doorstep! One thing for future travellers to be aware of is that the oven takes quite a while to heat up and both evenings we had to keep our food in much longer than recommended but this did not detract from our overall enjoyment. We would highly recommend to couples or small families looking for a relaxing trip away.

    Natalie2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Mountain View! It is full of wonderful walking trails into the village or over the mountains, and was a great base for doing day trips around Argyll. Beautiful cabin too! The only thing was that it was not as secluded as the pictures depict - not a problem, just a surprise! We'd still recommend staying here!

    Lizzie And Jonathan2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic place to escape the business of life. In our modern world of chaos, stress and suffering, with many places so utterly desecrated by abhorrent human behaviour, it is so encouraging and nice to find a place so beautiful, so untouched, so un-violated... The views from the cabin itself are outstanding and the interior of the cabin is cosy and has everything you need. With so many beautiful and remote places so near by I can't recommend a trip here enough. I want to live here to be honest, I cannot find words beautiful and positive enough to describe my love of it.

    Joseph2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • That view though! Incredible location, lovely chalet. Everything we could have hope for

    Anthony2018-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • The chalet has everything you need for a quiet getaway. Fiona has thought of everything. The location is really outstanding. We planned to go to dinner in a different place every night. We didn't do it once, we were so taken with the view. The holiday was lent a really fun aspect by the surrounding animals, feeding the chickens was a blast. I'd highly recommend the chalet to anyone who wants to enjoy scenery in a quiet setting.

Seil Chalet is 75 meters from the shore commanding stunning unrestricted views. It has a large enclosed decking area with large picnic bench making alfresco dining a pleasure. The chalet consists of an open plan sitting room /dining kitchen area, two bedrooms (one double and one twin) and walkin shower. It is situated on the Isle of Seil which is a 20 minute drive from Oban. Although an island it is conveniently accessed by the famous 17th century bridge "The Bridge Over The Atlantic"
Seil Chalet is little hidden gem. It is one of seven individually owned chalets and is the chalet nearest to the sea. It is found in the Balvicar Chalet site on the quaint Isle of Seil, a twenty minute drive from Oban, the gateway to the Highlands. Although situated on an Island the Isle of Seil is accessed by the Bridge over the Atlantic thus giving you all the charms of an island but without the inconvenience of ferry timetables.
Seil Chalet sits in the Balvicar chalet site which consisted of just seven chalets. Seil Chalet is the nearest chalet to the sea commanding stunning unrestricted views. This is a very quite peaceful site with lots of wildlife such as hedgehogs, pheasants, deer and many different types of birds etc..

.... It's a wooden house that in olden fairy tale days would be the sort hungry bears would live in, I like it a lot , considering it's remoteness and the small size of Dalavich village, it is unique in that it has a shop , café , bar and post office nearby . This is why you probably should not come here , it might be over priced , there may be dust behind the sofa, if you dont like winding roads , all remote places in Scotland have that in spades.
The place is probably in need of a paint job here and there , which I am resisting as i don't like things to be too perfect as i like a very laid back relaxed atmosphere, 2019 will be the year to cut down saplings as they start to block the view , the place has a dishwasher, that is an essential as far I'm concerned. It can sleep 6 people , the dining table can sit 6 people , it has 4 standard chairs , two more chairs are available in the property. A three person sofa and beanbags galore to spread yourself on, very good stereo to listen to whatever noise takes your fancy , fantastic cute red squirrels to feed nuts to , fantastic red pine martens to feed your fingers to if you ain't careful. Otherwise , there's green grass, trees, mountains plus a few big cats ( I think they are pumas ), water views with long eels in them that have bodies as thick as a fat man's leg.. Oh, if there's a full moon seeing it shine across the loch is an experience in itself .

  • Enjoyed a long weekend at this chalet with my parents. The chalet was nice and clean and had an excellent shower (which is one of the most important things to me!) Lovely views from the living room and a well-equipped kitchen allowed us to cook breakfast and most dinners in comfort. The only slight downside was that the Wifi was down, however, this was due to unforeseen circumstances and Nicky apologised extensively for this - I'm sure it'll be sorted by the time whoever is reading this review decides to visit this lovely part of Scotland!

Our charming property is a small wooden chalet set in the garden of our home, sitting above the town of Oban. The property sleeps a couple, and has a mezzanine which is suitable for 2 small children as one of the bunk beds is small. The chalet has a bright elevated outlook, a wood burning stove, spiral staircase. The chalet is in a beautiful location not far from McCaigs Tower, with outdoor access to a small balcony. The property has recently been renovated and the decor refreshed.
Our accommodation is independent from our home and has a welcoming cosy feel, the kitchen forms part of the open plan living area with cooker, microwave and dishwasher. There is a spiral staircase and we would ask all guests to take care. There are bunk beds in the mezzanine. There is a spacious shower cabinet. Wood is provided for the small stove. Oban has beautiful setting and this quiet part of Oban makes the most of this. There is easy access to the town centre by Jacobs Ladder, Taylors Brae or road and the walk is uphill. We will provide you with a welcome pack of tea, coffee and milk. All bedding and towels are provided.
The chalet is in a central location with easy access to the ferry terminal on foot. The local swimming pool and children's play area are 10 mins walk. Oban is the ideal location for exploring the islands and coast while having access to local restaurants and pubs.

  • Marion’s home was fantastic and just perfect for our family of four. Our kids loves the lofted bunks and the yard to run around in. We loved the gorgeous view of Oban Bay, and the easy, walkable access to the waterfront! Plus, Marion and John are so kind and friendly, you won’t find better hosts!

  • This is a cute chalet perfect for a family of 4. Location is ideal overlooking all of Oban with beautiful views. Very clean and stylish with excellent facilities and very comfortable beds. Our boys loved their little room upstairs which is accessed via a spiral staircase (better though they climb without socks on) Marion is a perfect host giving us lots of ideas of what to do locally and also started us with tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter and jam which was a lovely touch. This is a perfect base for exploring the islands. We will definitely be back again!!

The area is steeped in the history - nearby Castle Stalker dates from 1320; the area is home to the Stewarts of Appin; Robert Louis Stevenson based his novels 'Catriona' and 'Kidnapped' on the story of the murder of The Red Fox of Glen Ure in the area. The lodge overlooks Loch Linnhe with views over towards the hills of Morvern. The sea is just a five minute stroll from the front door as is the 'Caledonia Way', part of the National Cycle Network, where you can walk or cycle to Campbeltown in one direction and Inverness in the other (bikes can be hired in Port Appin). Scenic horse trekking is available locally (Lettershuna Riding Centre, March to October) as well as a small watersports centre (Linnhe Marine). Take a sea trip out of Oban to view whales, seals and dolphins (in season). Fort William with its skiing, mountain biking and hiking is a 40 minute drive from the lodge while Oban is accessed by car in 30 minutes. From here you can take ferries to all the other islands such as Mull, Iona or Tiree. The charming Old Inn is open daily for food and drinks. Overlooking Castle Stalker, its a short 5 minute drive from the lodge - a perfect place to unwind in front of the fire and chat away to the locals who are warm and welcoming to all. Highland Games, hiking challenges, international mountain biking championships, ice climbing, motor rallying, the world cup stone skimming championships - these are just some of the local events on during 2018.

  • The lodge is really warm and comfortable. It has been recently refurbished to a high standard and was really clean and welcoming. It was very handy for us as we were working in the area. The Linnhe coast is stunning and it would be a good base for exploring the local area.

  • It’s a bit hard to find, make sure Ewan sends you directions and instructions how to get the keys. There is no internet in the area and bad cell reception. Otherwise, the place is clean and the views are great.

Designed with those with a disability in mind, MND Scotland's chalet at Tralee Bay Holidays provides all that is needed for a relaxing break on the west coast of Scotland. The chalet will sleep a maximum of 7 and allows plenty of space for wheelchair users. There is plenty to do in the local area with Oban itself just 8 miles away. From here the visitor can take whale watching trips and island hop. The chalet offers specialized equipment such as a ceiling tracking hoist and adjustable bed.
The chalet offers visitors with a disability the opportunity to visit the spectacular West Coast of Scotland.
Your first view of Oban is one you are unlikely to forget. From the north, you glimpse this bustling port from the top of the 'Bealach-an-Righ'. As you sweep down the hill towards the expanse of the bay, the view opens up before you and one begins to appreciate why Oban has developed into Scotland's most popular west-coast holiday town. Beyond Oban ("little bay" in Gaelic - Scotland's ancient Celtic language) lie the islands of the Inner Hebrides: Kerrera, which protects the town from Atlantic storms; the low, green island of Lismore; majestic Mull, and the granite mountains of the Morvern peninsula. Beyond them, the sacred island of Iona, Coll, Colonsay and Tiree. The Firth of Lorn Special Area of Conservation just South of Oban is an area of outstanding natural beauty, of uninhabited islands with dramatic sea-cliffs. Only St Kilda hosts a greater variety of marine species. Rich feeding grounds make this area a hot spot for sightings of whales, dolphins, porpoise, basking sharks and an amazing number and variety of seabirds. Sea Eagles, Golden Eagles, Peregrine falcons and Buzzards are resident and are frequently seen. Along the rugged coast line are seals, otters, deer and wild goats. Sea kayaking and Oban are the perfect match. The whole being worth more than the sum of the parts. Wildlife, up close and personal, includes seals, porpoises, whales, otters and eagles. History, with its castles, slate villages, deserted islands. Scenery, as good as the West Coast of Scotland gets, island jewels dotted on a steel blue ocean. From Oban, a short drive south brings you to Arduaine Gardens - run by the National Trust for Scotland - in a superb setting on the west coast. This garden is a plantsman's paradise but due to its scenic location overlooking the Sound of Jura, it is equally fascinating for a novice who doesn't know his rhododendrons from his roses! Argyll may not be classed as one of the more mountainous areas of Scotland but it more than compensates for that with views that can take your breath away. Most of the hills in this part of the world overlook the sea and the views out over the islands can be spectacular and you don't even have to be too energetic to get the best views. Ben Lora, just a few miles north of Oban, overlooks Ardmucknish Bay giving great views over to Mull and can be walked up and down in around 2 hours. The presence of the nearby Gulf Stream and unpolluted waters make Oban a mecca for UK diving enthusiasts. There is enough diving here to suit everyone whether pleasant scenic dives, wrecks both shallow and deep, hairy drift dives with tidal flows exceeding 15 knots and deep drop offs. The marine life although small in size is abundant with walls covered in anemones, sea squirts and sponges, lobsters and conger eels lingering in crevices and the occasional visit from common seals.

  • If you are looking for a beautiful, tranquil location to base yourself conifer lodge is perfect! Its near to the tourist town of Oban which has resaturants, pubs, supermarkets, a whisky distillery and ferrys to nearby islands. If you wish to travel further afield it would be best to hire a car for your time here, you can find some more beauty spots within an hours drive. We loved our stay here, and cant wait to visit Scotland again. Thankyou Paul.

  • The cabin in the picture looks great but you're unlikely to be staying in this one. Conifer Lodge is one of a group of lodges set in a small holiday park. Cabin was very clean but a little dated. Good for kids - games room with a pool table & board games. Outdoor space & swings. There is a laundry. Lots of £1 coins needed for machines so gets expensive. You will also be charged for your electric usage on departure. Easy access to Oban & friendly staff.

  • We had a wonderful week at Glen view. It is perfectly placed to explore the area, lovely local walks and so much to see a short drive away. The property was excellent and had everything we needed for a family of five. It was wonderfully secluded and the view was stunning and ever changing with the changing weather. Access to local beach was 5 minutes walk.

Fiona was an excellent, helpful host. The caravan is in an excellent position for exploring Oban and the area. The kids enjoyed feeding the chickens.

  • Glen View was amazing. I came for 6 days of solitude, and left feeling refreshed. The caravan has a truly incredible view, I watched to sunrise and sunset over the gorgeous hills for 6 days straight. The location is perfect - quiet and calm yet close enough to the center of Taynuilt. The grocers in town delivered groceries in town as I did not have a car. Fiona and Ian were extremely accommodating and I felt in good hands there. I highly recommend this rental!

  • Fiona is very kind and welcoming. It was the first time in a mobil home for us and we loved it. it is cosy, quiet and the view is amazing. Fiona was very helpful as I had an emergency with an email and she welcomed me in her house so I could get a better Wi Fi.

  • Taynuilt is a great location from which to explore west Scotland and the surrounding islands. Loch View cabin was clean, spacious, had all facilities we needed and had a lovely Loch view from the living room! Local wildlife and farm life helped us feel like we were 'getting back to nature'. Fiona provided plenty of local info. There's so many popular walks and hikes within an hours drive of Taynuilt. Easy check in too (which was good because we arrived VERY late!!).

A fantastic property in a dream location right on the shore. Alison and Dave have fitted out their house beautifully, providing very comfortable accommodation and were great thoughtful hosts.

Great e-mail and text message contact with Patrick before we arrived on Tiree. His messages were personal and friendly, so we felt very much that he wanted us to feel at home in his wonderful house.
