Charming and romantic,' Round' Cottage on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Formerly, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with 35 foot high conical ceiling with canopied bed upstairs with views through massive, multi-paned "mill windows" to the trees and sky and out to the lily pond. The downstairs sitting room looks out on the babbling brook and lovely gardens.
Now open year-round! Charming, One Bedroom Cottage, former sculpting studio on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham, MA. Known as the "Silo Studio" Cottage. There is a bedroom with canopied queen bed upstairs and a sitting room with window bench-seat, coffee table, table and chairs, kitchenette area with wet bar with Micro/Fridge coffeemaker, toaster and bathroom with shower are downstairs. Fall asleep to sounds of the babbling brook and views to pond and forest from the large screened openings upstairs, like living in a "tree-house". Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do have a pet friendly policy, prior approval and acceptance of our rules and policies is required before a pet may stay with you in our accommodations. There is also a $25.00 additional pet cleaning charge. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • Denise's Santarella was a wonderful experience. The property has a whimsical atmosphere to it and the Silo Studio was no exception. It was the perfect escape for a romantic getaway, and the bottle of champagne included in the mini-fridge was a much-appreciated detail. We would not hesitate to recommend the grounds and the friendly hostess and we look forward to visiting again!

  • A little Lilliputian lullaby of a place done in "storybook" architecture and a delight to behold. Denise was lovely, the gardens Englishy, the whole place a step into the pages of a child's tale. On a bucolic country byway, away from the madding crowds. Actually, in the Berkshires there is hardly a crowd. Close to gorgeous Tanglewood, where you can picnic while listening to the Boston Symphony practice, all the charming towns, museums, The Red Lion Inn, and too many wonderful things to list. Truly, a special place.

  • From the moment we arrived, we felt safe, welcomed, and had all the privacy we could ask for. Denise and Dennis gave us a great tour of the grounds, the Silo Cottage and the gardens surrounding the estate. This was such a unique and magical place to stay from the amazing attention to detail with the landscaping to the amenities in the cottage. I would recommend everyone consider staying here at least once in their life. Denise gave numerous facts and advice about where to go eat in the area and left printed recommendations in our cottage so we could look into all the area has to offer. Thank you for a great weekend!

  • My girlfriend and I came to the silo studio for a couple days away, and we can not say enough about how nice the studio is. Denise was a great host, giving us plenty of options for activities, from dining to hiking. The silo itself is an awesome piece of work working and the inside is clean and cozy.

    Steve2017-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Silo Cottage is a uniquely wonderful place - very comfortable, restful, peaceful amid serene surroundings. We didn't want to leave. What made our visit even more extraordinary was the guided tour of the grounds and buildings - a history lesson in the making and true pride in ownership. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing escape, look no further. You can't help but fall in love with this place.

  • It is a really lovely cottage!!! A very wonderful experience and the hosts are very helpful. Would definitely go there again.

  • Denise and her husband are very kind! They greeted us, made us feel at home, then left us to enjoy the place. They go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable!

The oldest house in town, fully renovated. Two-story living room with pull-out couch; kitchen with stone counters and dishwasher, two bathrooms with warm floors. Floorboards upstairs a foot wide; queen size bed with view over the trees, creek and porch.
It's a roomy red sawmill that's 260 years old. There is wonderful light from windows set high and low. It's located across the garden from the big grist mill where we live, on two acres of beautiful gardens, creek and woods.
New Lebanon, at the top of Columbia County, New York, is a pretty funky town, not a Norman Rockwell town. Many people drive right through it to go north for antiquing or skiing, to take the scenic pass into Massachusetts or to pick up the nearby NY thruway. Our town is so small that there's only one stoplight, and that's a blinking one. There's no night life to speak of, no sidewalks, and we lack a big grocery store. The upside is that our site right next to the Berkshires is what makes the old sawmill such a good value, and so good for exploring. You can get easily to almost all the places you want to go-- more easily, we find, than from some of the Berkshire towns themselves. And whatever New Lebanon lacks in picket fences, it offers in glorious hillside viewscapes. The town has a remarkable allotment of Shaker history, such as the massive square ruins of the Great Stone Barn at Mount Lebanon. This was recognized by the World Monuments Fund as one of the 100 most significant endangered sites in the world, and it's right here and easy to visit. Lebanon Springs was also utterly famous in the nineteenth century for its warm water spa, frequented by luminaries like Charles Dickens, Mark Twain and the Marquis de Lafayette. The medicinal spring still courses down the hillside, but in obscurity now. There is plenty to enjoy here. Stop at Blueberry Hill Market Cafe for coffee and something delicious for breakfast or lunch. Try M&M's for a late dinner of burgers, wings, and some craft beer, or reserve at Mario's for a fancy meal. Trek by the beaver dams at Hand Hollow Conservation Area. Go to Meissner's on a Saturday at 4 for their antique auctions, where we've found astonishing values. You'll find a lot of information about local options in our online Guidebook. Our location turns out to be an excellent base for the range of travel and exploration in this area, or just for staying put and enjoying a rural escape, as so many of our airbnb guests have told us.
  • Beautiful historic building, including great books and art. Plus the kitchen was well appointed with more than everything we needed to cook meals and for a great stay. We enjoyed a visit to the Clark Art Institute nearby. Wish we had time for more!

  • The Sawmill in New Lebanon is a gem of a place. Joe and Fiona could not have been more kind gracious and helpful. And the space was so beautiful and artistically appointed My friend and I were pleased with every little detail It was very private and yet we felt comfortable knowing our hosts were right next door. They thought if everything to make our stay pleasant.

    Roberta2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a lovely stay at the Old Sawmill. The property was as-advertised. Joe and Fiona were very gracious hosts. We loved the seclusion and waking up to the sounds of chirping birds every morning. As other reviewers have noted (and as Joe notes in the listing), the property is very remote, so I would recommend buying any groceries or other necessities before you arrive at the property. However, we loved getting breakfast around the corner every morning at the Blueberry Hill Market Cafe. Our only regret is that we didn't get a chance to spend more time at the property!

    Robert2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • I've used Airbnb quite a few times now, but this was by far my favorite trip. The house was beautiful and Joe & Fiona had it stocked with anything you might need. I arrived on my birthday and they even left me a slice of pie with a birthday card. They went above and beyond and made it a really great experience. While there, we checked out October Mountain State Forest, which was just a short drive away in Massachusetts. There were a various hiking trails to choose from and it was gorgeous. Also, if you're staying here then you have to go to Blueberry Hill Market Cafe. It was easily the most delicious breakfast I've eaten. Overall, this was a wonderful experience and I can't thank Joe & Fiona enough for everything! I hope I can return in the future.

    Melanie2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • The saw mill is beautiful, with plenty of space for two people. Joe and Fiona stocked the kitchen with milk, eggs, apples, etc. before we arrived, which was very thoughtful. We had a great time!

    Aaron2018-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely perfect in every way. The beauty of the natural setting, the charm of the architecture, the warmth and generosity of the hosts--all were above and beyond. The sawmill is beautifully renovated and tastefully furnished, from the art on the walls to the sheets on the bed. Fiona and Joe are warm and sophisticated and really have thought of absolutely everything--from the big stuff like insightful local guides and recommendations, to the sewing kit in the drawer and the insect repellent by the door (just in case there are ticks, because as far as I could tell, there were no mosquitoes). It was such a pleasure to cook in the perfect kitchen while watching my six year old run free around the lovely grounds. When I arrived, the fridge was stocked with gorgeous local produce from the farmers market. When they learned I play banjo, they dropped off some pretty old banjos for me to mess with. When I thought I lost my bag, they insisted on loaning me money! This place is an example of Airbnb at its best...

    Elizabeth2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Where to begin? This place is perfect. It's charming and beautiful and luxurious and has a unique (and FASCINATING) history. Fiona and Joe went above and beyond in every regard. They gave us a brief but thorough tour, and we learned so much about the house and the area. It's amazing what they've done with this old, historic sawmill. They have so many personal touches, a really impressive book collection, so many kinds of soap/shampoo/conditioner, and a kitchen with everything you could need and more (including fresh eggs, milk and apples!). We never wanted to leave, and definitely will be back!

Parking is at the top of our long hill driveway, so it means that you will be walking down a grassy gentle hill around to the front of the house, to enter the apartment. If you have significant mobility issues, this may not be the best choice for you due to our steep driveway and there being steps to house, stepped floor in the bathroom.
We offer you a well designed, recently renovated apartment in a Greek Revival home which has two bedrooms, a full kitchen, a shared 3 season porch, full bath-including claw foot tub, hardwood floors and a lovely yard. Nestled on Monument Mountain, we are high on the hill overlooking Housatonic village and river. With nearby skiing, hiking, biking, museums, restaurants, theater and shopping, this cozy spot offers accessibility with privacy. The apartment is perfectly situated to explore the many charms of the Berkshires, both it's natural beauty and it's many cultural attractions. We are 15 minutes to Tanglewood and Shakespeare and Company; 30 minutes to Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival; 10 minutes to Great Barrington's diverse shops and restaurants, The Triplex Cinema, and Mahaiwe Theatre; and 10 minutes to Chesterwood Museum, The Berkshire Botanical Gardens, The Norman Rockwell Museum, Naumkeg and Butternut Mountain Skiing. We are a short walk to both the famous Berkshire Mountain Bakery and their delicious sourdough breads, delightful with your morning cup of coffee, and the Brick House Pub for your evening enjoyment. The Housy Cafe, another two-minute walk away like the Brickhouse Pub, offers terrific breakfast and lunch options, and great coffee; about six minutes away by foot, is Pleasant and Main Cafe, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. If you're looking for a friendly, pleasant, affordable, relaxing place to stay, you've just found it!
Housatonic is a great little village with 3 restaurants (The Brick House Pub, The Housie Cafe and Pleasant and Main), Berkshire Mountain Bakery, a liquor store, a lovely library, playground, post office, recording studios and churches all within a short walking distance.

  • Nous avons surtout apprécié la communication avec Allison; malgré notre annulation de dernière minute, elle a été vraiment compréhensive et m'a même offert de me rembourser les frais de nettoyage ! Ce n'est que partie remise :)

    Marie-Eve2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay in Allison's place. I really cool space for the two of us. It was spotless, we had everything we needed and the bed was really comfy. We were sorry that we could not meet Allison, but she was called away - however, she did let us know that a day or two before and it was just fine getting in and out without a problem. Everything was just as she said and we are very happy.

    Kim2018-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming host, excellent communication, and she left us snacks so we could just relax. Very nice stay.

  • Great hospitality. Well located.

    Julio2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Had to drive through a snowstorm to get here, but well worth it! Allison met us upon arrival and had a great stay. Lovely little apt in a convenient location. Next time I make my way up to the Berkshires, I'd certainly see if the place was available.

    Gerald2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was clean and comfortable for our stay. Allison was not available to greet us but was responsive through email. Lots of noise from the second floor after quiet hours and again in the morning. People heavy on their feet walking back and forth. All in all we enjoyed the accommodations. Nice location and great recommendations for area restaurants.

Beautifully nestled 19th century colonial house situated on 60 acres of land. Very quiet and peaceful. Great Skiing in the area which include Jiminy Peak and Butternut just 30 minute from the house. 20 minutes from Tanglewood and the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. 15 minutes from the charming town of Chatham. 30 minutes from Hudson.
Spectacular house in eastern Columbia County
    Private and Bucolic.
  • Great experience with Louis and the property. He was attentive and in contact throughout our trip. The home was lovely - rustic but not lacking modern amenities. I would recommend this property.

    Brian2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Louis has a lovely house in a great spot, and he was very easy to contact, and very accommodating (considering we have two cats!). The property was very reasonably priced, and near to where we live, and so very convenient for an interim place to stay while moving. Unfortunately we were not on vacation, so didn't have time to visit the beautiful woods, fields and grounds, except from close to the house. If I didn't live here already, I'd definitely consider staying at his house again for a longer, more relaxing time. So, Thanks very much, Louis! You were very considerate and helpful, and we had a comfortable few nights in your house.

    Audrey2016-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my friends felt so welcome. The house has such character, was clean and well decorated. The property is lovely and peaceful. Directions were perfect. The host was responsive to emails. It was a nice drive to Kripalu where we were spending most of our time. Our next visit to the Berkshires for yoga will also have us looking to stay at this beautiful home again!

    Nicole2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Charming farmhouse--loved the living room at the back of the house and all the space for the dogs to run around in. Great weekend getaway but close to amenities. Thanks Louis!

    Kef2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • I can not imagine a more perfect mini- vacation Upstate than Louis' lovely home in Columbia County. Quiet, serene, and Nature as your closest neighbor, but only minutes from shopping and the delight of the Berkshires and Catskills. A dwelling with anything and everything to bring comfort and convenience into your life but none of the furor and confusion we have come to expect as the price to pay for daily existence in the 21st century. From your first moments here you will be scheming to extend your stay or plotting a next visit to this Oasis of sanity among the oaks and maples.

    Douglas2016-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, big old house in a secluded spot - a haven of peace and a great place to observe the abundant wildlife (deer, chipmunks, groundhog, birds, and butterflies), and the night sky. Its woodland position means it was quite dark in the cooking area of the kitchen. On the other hand, there were no curtains in the upstairs bedrooms. Louis provided some very helpful local information about walks (some from the house), and places to visit + shop / eat. We had an issue with the water supply during our stay, which Louis promptly addressed when notified, but which did have an impact on our stay, as it could not be entirely resolved before we left

    Mike2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted a quiet, secluded retreat far from the busy city we live in. Louis's home was exactly what we were looking for. The sun room that looked out onto his tree-lined, snowy grounds was a perfect place to read and actually drink my morning coffee. In the afternoon we explored Louis's property that led to a secluded pond and nature reserve, no hint of civilization. In the evening, we cozied up with a bottle of wine on the sectional in the sun room, thumbed through this amazing art book Louis had displayed on the coffee table, and listened to music. His home is decorated with an artists vision, a mix of modern, world culture, and old-school (shaker?) charm. In the wee hours of the night we went outside again to see the stars on the hillside next to the house... a totally amazing sight. We slept in the master bed, it was really comfortable, the baths were modernized with all of the necessities, and the kitchen had everything you would need to cook up a meal. I don't know... this may not sound like the rock star vacation to some, but we slept in like rock stars and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, enough to extend it by another night because we didn't want to leave. Louis was very responsive, hospitable, and did whatever he could to make us comfortable. We hope to stay there again soon!

    Melanie2017-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This house was terrific! Very private and clean with fantastic forest views right on the other side of the plate glass window. Though it was only 2 of us the house can certainly comfortably accommodate a family. Retiring in front of the fireplace after a day exploring the local sights was the bees knees. Louis was a pleasure to deal with and gave many wonderful suggestions of things we might see or do during the foliage season.

The furnished cottage has high vaulted ceilings and skylights which make the space bright and cheery. Perfect for a cozy, romantic getaway with a working fireplace, fully equipped kitchen and large bath with tub. Sliding glass doors open onto deck, overlooking yard and brook. There is a firepit for outdoor use.
  • Susan was wonderful. She was very communicative and made sure we felt welcome. The cottage was everything we were expecting and beyond. It was spacious and full of extra ammenities scattered throughout such as maps, books, basics for breakfast, and drinks in the fridge. The deck was the perfect spot for enjoying an evening drink and watching the fireflies. The location is within walking distance to some wonderful cafes and shops as well as a short drive from all the great Berkshire spots of interest and outdoor activities. My husband was able to go on a 20 mile bike ride in the morning right from the cottage and back without any difficulties with traffic. It's a great area, perfect place, and lovely host. We would love to stay again!

  • Stacy is a truly thoughtful and detail oriented host, who provided us with a perfectly private and incredibly enjoyable stay. Her Red Barn is not only beautifully designed and maintained, but everything throughout the perfectly appointed studio is clearly communicated with helpful reminders on where things are stored, how things work, and even guides to the local area. The space was divine and the little touches were icing on the cake. My husband and I highly recommend staying here and would absolutely come back. Thank you Stacy!

    Leigh2015-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rustic Barn! Stacy has included so many great small touches, from snacks to take for hiking all the way down to a flash light and first aid kit. We were just so impressed! We had a wonderful time getting away from the city to enjoy our anniversary. We would highly recommend anyone stay here!

    Ben2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at The Red Barn was the perfect Airbnb experience. The space was unique, beautiful, and clean. It immediately felt like home. Stacy was very kind and we were very impressed by her warm professionalism. We would definitely stay here again.

    Meg2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Stacy was excellent in communication both prior to our stay as well as during the stay. The house was very well equipped with all the necessary things we needed. I was even surprised at how well the kitchen was fully loaded. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was plenty of blankets to keep us warm. I would definitely come back and would highly recommend this place to anybody. Thanks again for being an amazing host.

  • This lovely property sits in farm fields with great views of the hills of New York and Massachusetts. It is secluded and private yet not too far from interesting towns with restaurants like Chatham, NY and Lenox, MA. This is a great area for winter sports. Stacy's barn contains a very cozy studio apartment with all that one could possibly need - a comfortable bed and sitting area, as well as a lovely kitchen and bath. The living area is beautifully decorated, complete with books, games, and Wifi. We could not recommend this Airbnb property more highly, and plan on returning again as soon as we can.

    David2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful, rustic, cute, & comfortable. Highlights: watching sunset over green hills in the Adirondack chairs with a fire in the fire pit. Quiet, cozy, & welcoming. Only downsides: it's a bit of a drive to everywhere so bring your groceries & plan to rest there. We had fun visiting local Lake Queechy for a swim & the glassblower's shop too.

    Julie2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely the best value in the area! The studio was clean, adorable, and had everything we needed. Loved looking at the renovation pictures. Would stay there again readily!

  • Elle's house is the definition of AirBnB gem. It's well appointed with everything you need to make it feel like your own house (right down to corn on the cob holders), the decor is fresh and vibrant, and the place is super clean and well renovated. Really a fantastic gem. Thanks, Elle.

  • Charlie and Margaret's place was wonderful! Charlie was very hospitable and friendly! Their place is in a nice location if you have a car, and the space itself was great! Very comfortable and clean with Wifi that works well! Perfect for a homebase as you explore the area!

    Madeline2017-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great couple of nights in this excellent self contained room. It was very convenient and comfortable and Charlie as a welcoming and helpful host. Highly recommended.

    Farquhar2016-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights at Charlie and Margaret's place. The place was exactly as displayed in photos. We had a convenient check-in and check-out experience even though the room is separate from the section they live in. Charlie and Margaret provided us with all we needed for a comfortable stay. They even left some chocolate for us! One great positive is that you can control the room temperature to your convenience. The place is also within a 30-minute drive to Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, which worked very well for us.

    Shima & Saeid2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret and Charlie were very responsive in all communication. Directions were very clear and they had everything you could think of written out in the room such as the WiFi code and how to work the heat. They were also gracious enough to let me check in earlier than 4pm so that I could head off to my workshop at the Kripalu Center right down the road on time. I found the bed very comfy, not too hard and not too soft, and I appreciated the water and other amenities that were left out for me to have or use. I would gladly stay there again.

    Mary Ellen2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cozy place near Kripalu. Train was not noisy at all and was really fun to watch in the evening.

    Rhonda2018-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in this charming, comfy, cozy country home. The home had ample parking and the hosts were just a call/email away. The area is friendly and a few minute drive to the local town.

    Meghan2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie and Margaret's place is great. Clean and with all amenities. Easy to get to all Berkshires have to offer.

    Rebecca And Joe2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie was the ultimate communicator and host. As stated in other reviews, the room is completely private and set off from the other living areas in the building. There is a very comfortable bed, a small refrigerator in the room, a small microwave, and a coffee maker with everything needed to make a few cups of coffee. Charlie also provided lots of useful extras, like napkins, cups and paper plates, and a little bit of chocolate! This room was an excellent value, and Charlie's premier hosting is -- to our way of thinking -- what Airbnb is all about.

  • Centrally located just a stones throw from Lenox Village. Charming small home. The pictures are (Website hidden by Airbnb) has been very nicely renovated. The kitchen has everything you need and then some. The living room is very comfortable. Beds are great. Plenty of towels and washcloths. Bathroom is small but very nice and it worked well for us. So nice to find a place that accepts pets...our cat loved it...especially looking out the front picture window and the slider to the deck. While the street does have some traffic it is not terribly noticeable. Communication with host was very easy. Welcome wine and cookies were a lovely touch. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to stay here next summer!

  • a great little house, a quick walk to all the great restaurants and shops in Lenox! Perfect for us and our pup. Stephen left us wine and cookies and lots of great suggestions about where to eat and what to see. A great value too!

    Judy2017-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen's home is absolutely perfect! Great location to walk to all that Lenox has to offer. The inside is exactly as pictured with all of the amenities of home. Beds are super comfy and the fireplace really made it cozy beyond our expectations. A very generous and unexpected touch was being welcomed by a bottle of wine and bag of cookies. If staying in Lenox again I will definitely book this property again without question!

    Sarah2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Lenox house was wonderful and clean and had all the common kitchen utensils. The fireplace was fun and there were plenty of blankets and pillows. My wife is allergic to dogs and had no issues during our stay. Communication with the owners went flawlessly as it made our first Airbnb enjoyable. Many thanks for a great experience!

    Jason2015-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • This home is heavenly. Clean, spare, cosy, quiet, well equipped, charming, and I could go on. We went for a mother/daughters Kripalu Yoga weekend and loved the house so much we cut our Kirpalu time short to go "home" to snuggle on the couches and watch movies. I hope to return to this adorable, comfy escape.

    Debby2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen's cottage was warm, comfortable and very well appointed. It's in a really great location. My husband and I really felt at home and had a lovely time--we hope to go back.

  • Terrific experience, the home was lovely, stylish, immaculate and well equipped. Ideal location just a short walk to the center of town, restaurants etc. Stephen was easy to deal with, provided great suggestions to enjoy the area, and welcomed us with a bottle of wine. A well appointed apartment located on the east side of Lenox (1.7mi from downtown Lenox) on a quite residential street and surrounded by trees. Ideal for Kripalu, Tanglewood, Lenox, Stockbridge and all Berkshire attractions. Come and enjoy the solitude!
This approximately 500 sq ft apartment is fully equipped for a weekend or extended stay. The apartment is attached to our home but has its own private entrance. `Located 1.7 miles from downtown historic Lenox. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, flatware, pots, pans, skillets and glassware. A counter height pub table in the living/dining room seats four. In the living/dining room a wall mounted LCD TV is provided for watching cable TV, or one of the video streaming sites (your subscriptions). High-speed (100Mbs) Internet access is provided via Wi-Fi for your web surfing or video streaming. The bed is queen size (80in x 60in/200cm x 150cm). Bed linens and bath towels are provided and are laundered with fragrance-free detergent. The fireplace in the bedroom requires an alcohol based bio-fuel and which is available for purchase ($15 for 2 quarts of fuel which provided approximately 3.5 hours of burn time). A picnic basket and blanket is also provided for your Tanglewood visit or other outdoor excursion. The picnic basket includes 2 wine glasses, 2 plates, napkins, tablecloth, corkscrew, salt & pepper - just add your favorite tasty goodies. The apartment is located on the east side of Lenox in a quiet wooded neighborhood (near October Mountain). Downtown historic Lenox is only five minutes away via car or 30 min if you like to walk. There is off street parking for 1 car only. The only "noise" you will encounter will be the "babbling" brook, chirping birds and wind blowing through the trees.
Our neighborhood consists of approximately 18 homes, each on 1-2+ acre lots. This is not a through street so traffic is minimal. Trees line the street and each home shares the forest in their backyards. Though this is a residential area wildlife occasionally passes through and there have been sightings of hawks, eagles, squirrels, wild turkeys, ducks, foxes and even an occasional black bear.
  • Richard is a wonderful host......h met us at the door and greeted us warmly, and let us know all of the particulars of the apartment. This is the best kept secret in the Berkshires. The space is absolutely lovely, brand new furnishings, tasteful, restful and welcoming. The natural lighting is perfect!! It is my dream cabin in the woods!! I am already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you kindly Richard.

    Teresa2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Just pack your bags and enjoy your stay with Richard and Karen and Romy. The apartment is beautifully decorated, spanking clean, full kitchen and everything is brand new. Richard has kindly left directions to use all "equipment"! Everything he has described about the apartment is 100% accurate. The house is quiet and well lighted if returning late at night and the location is in the "country" but close to everything. The perfect spot to stop and rest. We will return.

    Jp2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is just as advertised - very clean and had everything you would need. It is a lovely place in a quiet neighborhood close to all the major attractions. Richard was great in communicating all the information and made us feel comfortable in greeting us along with Romy. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return!

    Valerie2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was an excellent space for a weekend in Lenox. The space very private, clean and extremely comfortable. Richard was very accommodating and responsive. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family and anyone looking for a comfortable home way home.

    Peter2018-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Richard's Lenox Apartment was the best Airbnb lodging my wife and I experienced since we first started booking through the service. One has the feeling of staying in a boutique hotel room rather than just a room, or in-law suite, attached to the owner's home. The small apartment was perfectly laid out for two people with a separate living room, bedroom, galley kitchen, and up-to-date bathroom. Also, the apartment is equipped with an efficient heating/air-conditioning system which is much appreciated for hot western MA days, and cool night. Richard made every effort to make our stay enjoyable, comfortable, and friendly. Richard created a detailed visitor's guide containing descriptions of area attraction, his favorite restaurants and pubs, and practical tips on hiking and other outdoor activities in the surrounding Lenox area. This was a top-notch experience, hands-down!

    Art2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • To say this was a perfect sanctuary for us in the Berkshires in an understatement. Rich & Karen created an incredibly thoughtful apartment anticipating needs we didn't even know we had, but were gratefully surprised when we found them (ie bottles of water in the refrigerator, laundry service, a thorough guide of restaurants & activities of the area to name a few). We can share a very long list of all the amenities their hospitality provided, but you just have to stay in it to believe their generosity. There is no doubt we'll be back to stay again when we're in the area & won't be surprised that once you've found this gem, you'll want to come back too.

    Kate2014-09-24T00:00:00Z

A quiet, secluded house with fireplace and jacuzzi on a clean swimmable lake near Jacob's Pillow and other Berkshires attractions.
2 Bedroom house on a half acre on beautiful clean lake. High speed wireless internet which reaches the lake, washer-dryer, large deck and sunroom. The original house was a single story open plan. We added a second floor which includes a spacious queen bedroom and a fireplace as well as a spacious bathroom with granite counter tops and a large Kohler jacuzzi. There is a memory foam 3 inch topper to the bed for extra comfort. The downstairs has a bedroom with a full size bed and closet. There is an additional bathroom downstairs with shower. We also added a beautiful sunroom with a full futon couch. The downstairs has a wood burning stove for a cozy night indoors. The downstairs is also open and spacious with wood floors, the kitchen and upstairs are remodeled and furnished. Down by the water there is a fire pit for a marshmallow or hot dog on a stick barbeque over an open flame. Make sure to drench the fire when leaving to go back upstairs. The lake is clean and very nice for swimming. There is a sandy beach across the way that you can walk to from the house for an easy way into the water. Don't go into the water from the property as it is muddy and slippery. The beach across the house is private and has nice sand all the way into the water. The house is 5 minutes from Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, 15 minutes from the Dream Away Lodge (quite the night spot! with live music and great food and ambiance) 25 minutes from Shakespeare and Co and Tanglewood. The house is in a forest and prone to visitations from wild critters. Be sure not to leave any food outside. Put the fire out completely before leaving the fire pit by the lake. Field mice are everywhere but they are friendly and non-toxic. You may hear them in the walls but they are docile and keep to themselves.
The forest and the clean lake are the reasons I like the neighborhood. There is also a quaint general store in the forest that serves breakfast. Lots of local color and friendly helpful people. New England style friendliness is reserved but positive.
  • The lake house was amazing and Nana was a great host! She made sure to touch base with me right away about the upgraded mattress topper that was getting delivered the same day as our arrival. It was there before we got there and the bed upstairs bed was super comfortable as a result. Loved hanging out in the sun room and watching the fall colors over the lake with a cup of coffee in the morning...Also loved utilizing the well-set-up audio system for some tunes. Nana was very responsive with a few suggestions for day trips and any other needs we might have had. Highly suggest the Little Robin Lake house. Cant wait to return!

    Brandon2012-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • What to say about such a magical spot? Nana’s place is just fabulous. Great vibes inside and out, not generic or staged-feeling and very clean. Reading in the sunroom was a favorite activity and the kitchen is fully stocked for home cooking. The bed was very comfortable and the views from the bedroom and deck are really wonderful. Morning coffee sitting down at the water was also a favorite activity. I brought my girlfriend to this part of the Berkshires so that I could propose to her at The Dream Away Lodge. Nana’s place was the absolute perfect spot to come back to - especially with my new fiancée.

    Michael2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect space for a quiet get-away. The home itself is quite cozy, and it's located relatively close to lots of area attractions.

    Kat2017-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • It was lovely!

    Dan2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house on little robin lake was great. My wife and I enjoyed four great nights there in late October. We went hiking near by, made a camp fire down by the lake and roasted marshmallows. Cooked some meals and went out for others. A great relaxing vacation. We did not have any face to face interaction with the host but did speak a couple of times on the phone. I would stay again.

    Larry2014-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect fall getaway. Quiet, peaceful home in beautiful setting. In mid Oct all of the leaves were changing, the colors were stunning. Enjoyed the two fireplaces (Nana was nice enough to have fires going in both fireplaces when we arrived in the evening... very cozy) and the jacuzzi was great. Also highly recommend the dream away lodge 15 minutes down the road. We went on a Sunday night and had a blast. Live music and great atmosphere.

    Myryah2009-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at the lake house in the Berkshires, and it was a lovely experience. The house is unusually well stocked, especially the kitchen. The sunroom was wonderful, perhaps the best part. It made for a pleasant retreat, even when it poured for two days. Highly recommended!

    Cynthia2010-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay! Beautiful home, very peaceful and relaxing. Everything was immaculate - the kitchen was wonderful, bathrooms, everything - we appreciated the washer/dryer as well. The sunroom is the star of the show! Couldn't pry ourselves out of that room to save our lives. The house is SO quiet - great for sleeping. Lots of gorgeous windows. Didn't use the jacuzzi, woodstove or fireplace (it was too warm during our stay) but all looked lovely. We'd rebook in an INSTANT! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality - I recommend this place highly.

Private room with a queen size bed just a few steps away from all the Berkshires has to offer. In Downtown Lee you will find a mixture of wonderful shops, dining and local attractions.
The 10 room home built in the 1870 has three available guest rooms. Each room has a flat screen television with built in DVD player and Roku player for your use.
The neighborhood is very diverse. Within a five minute walk you can find Chinese, Greek, Italian and American restaurants. There are local gift shops, antique stores and eclectic wares on Main Street. The local library has a wonderful children's section and the Visitors Center is in the nearby park.

  • This place was great for the price! We went on vacation with 2 couples and each couple got their own room. Not really a common space for us to use, but we stayed in one of the bigger room. The rooms were clean and comfortable, felt right at home. The location was great, right next to Lee Outlets and downtown where there were lots of restaurants. David was nice and a great host! Would definitely come back!

Cottage is a stand-alone building on our 2-acre property overlooking beautiful October Mountain, part of the Appalachian Trail. The location is close to downtown Lenox but very quiet and private.
The cottage's porch leads to a large, open "great room" that feels very much like a ski lodge or cabin, with wide-plank wood floors and exposed beams. The room has a cool mid-century orange sofa and 2 matching chairs and an entertainment unit with a TV and DVD player. There is also a ceiling fan for air circulation and a skylight that can be opened to allow air in and out (plus, it has an automatic shade, should you want to block the sun). We also have an air conditioner available for this room, should you need it. Down a set of stairs is a recently renovated bathroom (see pic) with a roomy shower and a claw-foot tub for soaking! Also there is a recently renovated open kitchen with all new appliances and granite counter top. A gas heating unit can be used to heat the whole place, as needed. There are also two bedrooms: The first has a queen bed with dresser and closet; the second is a more flexible room, with a daybed that can be used as a sofa but also can be made up as a single bed, and there is a trundle bed underneath it - so, you can have two single beds or put them together and make a king bed. It also has a linen cabinet with all of your bedding and towels. IMPORTANT: The second bedroom has no door, so anyone staying there needs to be aware of the lack of privacy! Both bedrooms have fairly new carpeting, and we have a window air conditioner available for either bedroom, should you need it. In addition, we have a washer and dryer for your use in the kitchen. We have one dedicated parking spot for the cottage. Please let us know if you would need more than one spot.
We're in a quiet area, with no close neighbors, and we're about a 5-minute drive into downtown Lenox.
  • Our original lodging fell through the night before we were supposed to leave for the Berkshires. We found Ted's place and sent a request, unsure if we would hear back in time. We were so pleased to have a response in about 15 minutes! We found it easily and it was perfectly cozy and comfortable. Ted even brought over some paper and a pen after we couldn't find any in our car, and he included some prosecco, too! Great place to get away, watch a movie, turn up the fireplace, and relax! Thanks!

    Monica2013-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We could need have had a better "home" to stay in for our wedding weekend than here! Not only was the view each morning breathtaking, the cottage was the perfect size for the two of us and as cozy as could be! The cottage was spotless upon check-in and when we had a question, Ted was quick to get back to us. We would recommend this as the perfect place for a weekend (or week if you have it!) getaway spot in the most beautiful Berkshires. We can't wait to stay there again!

  • The house is in a great location near Lenox and other Berkshire towns. Very clean and exactly how it was described. Ted made us feel welcome and provided a lot of great information for local activities and restaurants that helped us enjoy the area. We would definitely stay here again!

  • My husband and I stayed at Ted's cottage for our anniversary to get away from NYC for the weekend. You have stunning views of the fall foliage right out the front door! It was a chilly weekend - but it was cozy and comfortable inside. Everything was very clean and well appointed. Less than 5 min drive into the heart of Lenox (we would have walked if it was warmer!). It is in a great "home base" location to explore the Berkshires. Perfect stay for a couple!

    Kylie2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Ted's cottage... we didn't want to leave! The cottage was perfectly located in Lenox and we enjoyed exploring the area. Ted was very friendly, accommodating and so easy to work with. We were able to bring our dog too which we loved! We definitely recommend Ted's cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in the Berkshires! We can't wait to return!

    Chantal2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I just spent the weekend at Ted's place. A true Berkshire gem. Close to everything yet far from it all. We especially enjoyed having our morning coffee on the porch while taking in the view. We found Ted's place to be extremely clean and very cozy. We will definitely be back!

    John2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ted was exceptionally communicative and helpful to me in planning my long weekend in Lenox. My girlfriend and I were very comfortable in this cottage - it's exactly as it looks in the pictures, and the view from the front porch is spectacular. The house is 5 minutes outside both downtown Lenox and Lee, and 20ish minutes away from the towns of Stockbridge and Great Barrington. I would definitely recommend staying here for anyone looking for a weekend (or longer) away in the Berkshires!

    Samantha2014-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage, we were there during the end of October for the weekend. The place was must larger, but still nice and cozy, as we had hoped for. We were so happy to be able to bring our dog with us, it was a comfortable size for him to be with us and for us to have a space for his crate when we were out. We loved the gas 'woodstove' as it looked very realistic and really provided great warmth, which was needed for the weekend. The kitchen and bathroom were really updated and it made for a comfortable stay. While we did not utilize it, it was also great to have the washer and dryer for a longer stay. We appreciated the privacy during our stay, but also Ted's availability when we had questions. We really hope to come back again in the future!

  • The cottage is well equipped, clean and comfortable, especially the amazing beds. We spent several cool evenings relaxing by the cozy fire. It's in a great location, very near town, in a nice, quiet neighborhood. Our hosts, Tom and Susanna, were extremely amiable, helpful and responsive. If I visit Lenox again, I will definitely try to stay in lovely Lemon Cottage.

  • The lemon cottage is in a great location, a quick walk to the great town of Lenox. There were many delicious restaurants nearby. Also, many great hikes nearby and just 45 mins from Mass MoCA. The house was perfect for a family of 4, super clean, nice linens and a nicely outfitted kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Alexis2018-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place the Lemon Cottage is. Tom and Susanna are wonderful hosts and you just feel at home in their place. It’s tucked right into the town of Lenox, so walking to places in town is no problem at all, but it’s on a residential street so it’s still quiet, even on the weekends. Anyone going to Lenox or the Berkshires for theatre, dance, art, or just chilling out should consider this cozy cottage!

  • The perfect place to go if you want that homey feel. Loved our morning coffee at the sunny kitchen table, and cozy evenings by the gas fireplace. Wish we could have stayed longer. You won’t regret booking here.

  • Marie’s Place is the perfect space for our family. We drove up from PA and needed accommodations for one night. I was pleasantly surprised by the home-like atmosphere. This space is extremely clean and comfortable. My husband, daughters and I felt right at home lounging on the sofas (complete with cozy throw blankets :)) Marie is the perfect hostess, staying in constant communication, and meeting us even though we arrived 1.5 hours behind schedule. Her home will be a top choice when we return to the Berkshires. You won’t be disappointed.

Our Quiet Cottage is in the forest minutes from a fresh water lake. Hiking trails are abundant in the area. For winter guests you are within 30 minutes of Butternut Ski resort. There are cross country ski trails throughout the Berkshires and four other Ski resorts to choose from a bit north of our house. There are great restaurants nearby and cultural activities year round. It's a great place to rest, read and recharge.
Our Cottage in Sherwood Forest is private and on 1/4 acre of land, a few minutes walking distance from the beautiful 88 acre lake and 20 minutes to the famous cultural attractions. We have two small bedrooms. One with a full size bed (Brand new with a pillow top)and the second bedroom has a single futon. The kitchen has a coffee maker, fridge, toaster, stove and oven. We supply some dishes, utensils and basics spices if you want to cook. The living room has a full size pullout futon. We have medium speed internet service. We have brochures and maps of the local attractions for exploring the area. The Appalachian trail is near so that can be a great hike. We have a General store that is within walking distance that has recently been spruced up and offers some gluten free homemade treats. They offer a great breakfast all day! Enjoy the quiet of the Berkshires. The cottage is great for a couple. We recommend it for a couple or a young family since it is small. There is a bus from New York CIty to Lee. But you still need a car to get to the house which is about 7 miles away. We ask our guests to bring sheets and towels since we don't have laundry facilities onsite. We do have a few blankets and comforters.
The Neighborhood is quiet and serene and we can recharge after being busy in the city. The lake is a short walk from the house. We do have neighbors nearby but we rarely see them.
  • The best example of "glamping " I could of had. Cute little cottage , quiet area ,right around the corner from the lake .Air conditioning and wifi made it very enjoyable. Only issue beds were a little small, but also I'm 6'2 250 . Had a great time and everybody we met was very nice and friendly.

  • Mary Ann's cottage was perfect for a quiet weekend getaway! It was clean and cozy when we arrived. The beach area was a short walk from the house and we enjoyed a couple nice mornings there. The heater kept us nice and warm and wifi/cell service (was not needed very much), but efficient when it was needed. Would definitely book again.

    Fiona2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is as you can see in the photos. Mary Ann was very kind. The area is great. The lake is just 2 minutes walk from the cabin. The water is very clean but we found some dog 'surprises' in the edge of the lake... The Sherwood's shoppe is a close restaurant where you can take breakfast all day long. The waitresses are very kind and the food has a good quality-price. The bed is comfortable. I love these kind of beds which youn can sink into but my husband was not so comfortable as me was. All in all. I would recommend this place with no doubts!!

Location! 10 min straight shot to Lenox or 5 min to downtown Pittsfield. On a main road but tucked away with a private yard that makes you feel secluded and private. Beautiful preserved hiking area 1/4 mile away.
  • This is great value for the Pittsfield area—it was our own private space with everything we could need for a few days. We didn't get a chance to meet Molly, but she was very responsive over text whenever we had a question.

    Nina2017-09-06T00:00:00Z

  • This a great place to stay if you're vacationing in the central Berkshires. Just 8 minutes by car to Pittsfield where there are a lot of services. The room itself is basically an in-law apartment with own door key, microwave oven, small frig and coffee maker with coffee provided. The space itself is huge with a very nice bathroom. Very comfortable.

  • Honeysuckle Rose is a clean, and quaint space. The beds are comfortable and the cabin, though relatively small, does not feel claustrophobic- lots of windows and open space. The small entry to the shower was not a problem for us- shower was well lit and large. Washer and dryer are a nice extra. There are lots of places to enjoy nature within a 15 minute drive. Paul was accommodating but not invasive. Our experience was positive.

  • This cabin is truly a special place. I came here to attend a funeral which was situated right down the road. I’m only sorry I didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the property more. Gorgeous inside and out!! Immaculately clean. Epic yard and fire pit. Super comfy bed, pillows and linens. Pictures don’t do it justice!!! Two beds and a living room with pull out couch. (So two full beds plus pull out) I was traveling solo and opted for the bed adjacent to the kitchen which was extremely comfortable. Upon surveying the other bed it did feel “crinkly”. I’m not sure if it was plastic covered or not since I had the place to myself I opted for the most comfortable option. Didn’t have much time for television but did enjoy Netflix for a while. Other options seemed to be available. WiFi info is readily accessible. I would be back here in a heartbeat particularly to enjoy the beautiful surroundings or for a romantic weekend. While I never met my host my needs were well anticipated. Plenty of linens and towels, soap and shampoo&conditioner in the shower. Couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks for having me Paul!

    Siobhan2018-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of four, including two teenagers, had a wonderful two nights at this cabin! There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, yet it was cozy and homey. We did not need to use AC or heat, but both are available. Fans are also available, including a freestanding one and a ceiling fan. The cabin was described very accurately in the description. The small entrance to the shower was not an issue. I am a larger woman, but I could get through quite fine. Paul himself is very friendly and laid-back. I felt very comfortable speaking with him, and he offered to set up the fold out couch for us when we arrived. The yard in the back extends to woods, and there is a fire pit. If you want to make a fire, Paul sells columns of wood for $40. We declined to do this, but would consider that if we were staying longer. There is also a lovely neighbor cat named Ziggy, Who roams the property and is very comfortable around people. If you are cat lover, this is a big plus. My daughter was thrilled! Paul has a list of local places to eat, and we highly recommend Flo’s diner (which has vegetarian options) as well as good old diner food, and international house of tacos. Both were excellent and reasonably priced. In the fridge in the cabin, there is a few condiments, and there is coffee in the freezer. The coffee maker work just fine. The amenities were very nice, including Wi-Fi and Netflix on a large screen TV. We were in the area in order to go to Tanglewood and museums, both of which were wonderfully convenient. Tanglewood is about a 15 minute drive away, and MassMOCA and Clark institute are about 30 to 45 minutes away. We definitely plan on coming back to stay in this wonderful gem!

  • This was an excellent cottage with everything you'd need for a comfortable stay, I only wished we could have stayed longer and would have no hesitation recommending it.

The Writer's Cottage is a tiny white house on a country road; vintage, complete, and inspiring. Built in the nineteenth century, it's perfect for a solo traveler or a pair of travelers exploring the Berkshires and the Hudson Valley. If you like rustic buildings, you'll be a fan of the cottage; it's an incredibly cozy time warp. Find an airy loft up narrow enclosed stairs, but everything you need to be comfortable is right on the first floor. Enjoy the orchard outside and an acre of lawn.
The Writer's Cottage is in private use until December of 2018, but you are welcome to book for holiday use at the end of the year, and for dates in 2019. For its small size, the cottage has several discrete spaces. Downstairs is a bedroom with a queen size bed and two cozy chairs. A well-equipped kitchenette has a ship lap vaulted ceiling and a round table that seats four, plus an ample mudroom for jackets, skis, boots and fishing poles. A writing room is just big enough for a cozy sofa and a desk, with a view of the orchard. The sofa opens up into a comfortable single bed, good for either an adult or a child. This room is also a good place to put a crib. There's a narrow bathroom next door. Up an amazing tiny enclosed staircase is an open loft space perfect for meditation, music, reading, privacy, or painting. The loft could be an extra bedroom too. We can put a double air mattress on a bed frame up there at your request, if you're willing to navigate those steep stairs with care at night! Note that the stairs lead right into the downstairs bedroom, which may be a privacy issue for some. This is an ideal spot for a weekend respite from the city, or as a base to explore the area. It calls to people working on creative projects, or those looking for a longer hiatus. It has all the important amenities, like good cell service, light, and dedicated wireless internet. It also offers quality linens and pillows, shampoos and soaps, nice china and good coffee, but no dishwasher and no tv. The doorways are narrow and the upper loft space is only six feet tall. But there's lots of old wood and so much charm. Relax on deck chairs or the hammock out back, on the porch out front, or set up lunch at the table and chairs on the grassy acre outside the back door. Some more features: even in midsummer, this area offers generally comfortable evening temperatures, but for the occasional night when it's hot, you'll find air conditioning available. People tell us that they like to know more about how we care for the beds and linens, so here is a little detail. We use sheets with high thread counts and wash them in Seventh Generation natural detergent. Pillows and comforters are down-alternative. We use protective anti-allergen covers for pillows, and encase the bed's mattress and box spring too. There's a place for hangers on the back of the bedroom door. For longer stays, there's a chest of drawers and a full-size closet up in the loft.
The Writer's Cottage is a great retreat both in summer and winter, whether you prefer a cozy break or search for culture and action. It's perfectly positioned for taking advantage of the Berkshires, including so much fine music, theater, food, art and natural beauty that you can't possibly do it all justice no matter how hard you try. Tanglewood is about 20 minutes away, and so is the Kripalu Yoga Center. There is a swift, scenic route to get to both of those from here, through pasture and forest, and ending with a wonderful view of the Stockbridge Bowl. In the winter, ski trails at Jiminy Peak or Bousquet are less than a half hour away, and Butternut is just a little farther. Hiking trails and conservancies abound. In the springtime, it's great to see the leafy woods and gardens emerge. It's locavore and farmer's market heaven in the summer and fall. Another summertime treat hidden nearby is Queechy Lake, with lifeguard and sandy shore, one of the cleanest and most delicious lakes in New York state. There's also a nice local park in town, with two newly refurbished tennis courts. Check out our online guidebook for a full listing of the places we love most around here for visit or a meal. There are seven fine art museums, eight theater companies, three Shaker villages and two orchestral venues within an hour's radius. We're a good jumping -off point for visiting the Berkshire towns-- it takes about 20 minutes to get to Lenox, Pittsfield and West Stockbridge in Massachusetts, for example. You're also only about twenty minutes from several other historic towns and villages of New York, such as Old Chatham, Canaan, and Spencertown.
  • Nice and secluded. Driving distance from great hiking!

  • This was our second stay at the Writer's Cottage, and we enjoyed it as much as our first. Tegan was very helpful prior to check-in, and the cottage itself was in great shape. We particularly appreciated the snacks in the fridge and the comfy bed after a long drive. Looking forward to coming back!

  • We loved the Writer's Cottage! The place looks exactly as in the pictures, but somehow, even better and very clean. It is cozy and special and we especially enjoyed the small details like: The stocked kitchen, the sweet treats and the aromatic soaps. There are many windows that bring great day light in, lots of space, real quiet neighborhood and Joe was very respondent to all we asked. We really had a great and quiet weekend, just as we wished!

Come enjoy all the Berkshires has to offer while staying in this comfortable, modern cabin in the woods - stroll, bike, or drive to the lake's sandy beach for a refreshing dip. Canoe available at lake for guest use. Enjoy starry skies in the private yard with fire pit and hot tub. Use of a telescope for stargazing. Wifi, smart TV's, comfortable memory foam beds, kitchen stocked with utensils, amenities, coffee, tea, spices & condiments.
Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival is just down the road, and Lenox / Tanglewood is a very scenic short drive away. Visit the cute Sherwood Shoppe for home-cooked meals including breakfast all day long, beverages and food to stock the fridge with, and take some local grass-fed meat home to grill burgers on the propane grill. We try to think of anything you might need to forget all your cares and relax - please let us know if there's anything else that would help in that aim.
Community is free of streetlights, and is mainly dirt roads, so I ask guests to try to arrive during daylight for their own convenience, but this is not mandatory. Snow: road clearing is quick and thorough, but please use caution during snow or muddy conditions (usually early spring) Some roads can be steep, as this is very hilly territory, but we have provided maps to show you how to get anywhere in the community via the easiest and flattest routes (You do NOT need W4D). I send different routes depending on the season, prior to your stay. We have also provided detailed routes to the lakes, where the canoe is docked, and so on (in house guide book).
  • Loved staying at Alison's place. My business partner and I went for a quick company retreat to do some summer planning and talk about our values. The location + house lent itself so well for that. Even though it rained most of the time we were there, we got out, walked around, took a plunge in the ice cold lake, and enjoyed the hot tub. The neighborhood is beautiful. Seems like there is lots do nearby but we didn't venture out during the day or night, except for casual strolls. The house itself is fully equipped with tons of resources -- a great TV, hot tub, comfortable rooms, and well-stocked kitchen! Would come back :)

  • Alison's cabin/house is a great spot for four people. It's comfy, clean and has a great hot tub and fire pit. This spot is perfect if you want to hike and explore nearby parks/forests. The lake is a bit of a walk - but still close by/accessible. Just look at the map to know what to expect! It's a wonderful, secluded retreat. Thanks Alison!

    Anna Marie2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem in a small town that feels very remote but is so convenient to Jacob's Pillow and other area attractions. We loved the privacy of the woods, sitting on the deck and in the hot tub and spent most of our time on the quiet lake nearby paddling around in the comfy canoe that goes with the place. Alison was very accommodating and easy to reach, the decor was inviting and beds were super comfortable. The 2nd bedroom is the walk through to the deck but we didn't mind since we were the early risers and gave the private bedroom to our friends so they could sleep later. We highly recommend Alison's place for weekend getaways or solo retreats.

  • Great spot away from it all, the hot tub is awesome!

    Britt2018-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay. Alision was a great, super responsive host. Very charming mod decor, excellent amenities. Very secluded & very private. All in all quite happy with our experience.

    Dan2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cottage was a wonderful place for myself and a small group of friends to spend a weekend. The check-in/check-out process was streamlined and clear. The house was well stocked with amenities. Alison was a helpful and communicative hostess, and it was clear that she cared deeply about our satisfaction with our stay. A great experience!

    Elissa2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • These accommodation were pleasant, and it was a great value for housing myself and three others. I would note that it was a little dirty, but not unlivable (hair in the shower when we arrived, pancake batter on the stove, and other small thing like nail holes in the drywall and missing drawer pulls). It added up to an experience that felt like we were in a fixer-upper midway through a remodel. However, I recognize that it was a good value for the space, the location, and the amenities that were provided.

Soak up the Berkshires in a renovated 3rd floor apartment (private entrance, 2 flights up) that is well-appointed, homey & with great views! Art, music, skiing, nature, shopping, food & drinks just minutes away! Located just off Hwy 7 (but very quiet!) for easy access to all of the Berkshires. 15 min=>Tanglewood. 35 min=>MassMoca. 30 min=>Lee Outlet Mall. 40 min=>Gr Barrington. 40 min=> Mt Greylock. Heart of the Berkshires! But ALSO the urban amenities of Pittsfield: shops, dining, drinks!
Former service quarters in a one-of-a-kind 1896 Arts & Crafts-inspired Colonial, now fully renovated into a tucked-away apartment. Enjoy warm living areas and spacious bedrooms with a kitchenette, full bath, two bedrooms, steam heat and A/C. The space also features a screened in porch off the second floor and a second 1/2 bath on the landing exclusive to the apartment.
The apartment is nestled in the Southeast neighborhood of Pittsfield by the Berkshire Athenaeum, Temple Anshe Amunium, the Berkshire Museum and the Colonial Theater. It is a very quiet neighborhood filled with beautiful historic homes, trees and a wide variety of birds.
  • Branden was a very tentative host who responded to any questions or needs we had within minutes. The apartment was exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. We appreciate Branden and Andy for working to make the apartment as comfortable as possible and it was so nice to be able to have our dog spend the trip with us. There was a nice size yard for her to run in. Great hosts, thank you

  • Great space in a historic house and location. Clean, warm and spacious.

    Matt2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Branden and Andy are great hosts. The location is great, walking distance from many different restaurants, activities and shops. There was a very detailed listing of places to go and things to do in the apartment. The directions were easy and convenient, and the hosts are very gracious. The apartment is certainly big enough for more than one person, but I enjoyed having the space to myself.

  • Wonderful place to stay in Pittsfield. Very convenient location and Brandon was very quick and helpful with responses. It is a comfortable and lovely place to stay. Of course just be aware of the third floor walk up, which I was fine with.

    Ari2018-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • A nice place right in the downtown, with all of the amenities you would need to stay for an extended period of time. The only caveat is that it is up several flights of steep stairs that could be difficult for someone with physical limitations.

    Thomas2018-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Branden & Andy's third floor apartment was the perfect spot for a recharge. We were walking distance to the tip of the South Street Business District. If it had been a touch warmer we would have taken the city by foot. One thing to keep in mind is the apartment entrance is in the rear of the home and the first flight of stairs are a little steep. Being up on the third floor your view out the back during the winter months is really a beautiful scene.

    Johnny2018-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Really liked the building and the space enjoyed my stay, even stayed an extra night.

    Terry2018-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great 2-bed in the Berkshires! I came with my boyfriend and his mom for a course we were doing at Kripalu nearby. The apartment is bigger than expected and fantastic! It was comfortable and quiet. Beautiful views outside the window in the morning! Branden and Andy were great - smooth communications and easy check-in/check-out. Would recommend!!

  • Jackie is a delight of a person. She really made me feel at home in her space and company. I simply could not have asked for better accommodation. The room was quiet, spacious, and impeccable with a lot of natural light, a proper writing space, and a lovely private bathroom. There was also full cooking access to a spacious kitchen. My highest recommendation for anyone visiting Lenox!

  • Can't recommend this home enough. It is a wonderful location, spotlessly clean, large, comfortable, with every toiletry available that you can imagine! Also much mention that the value is incredible for Lenox. My husband and I look forward to our next stay.

  • A quiet and beautiful space . Great bed

    Donna2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie and Paul are very nice and hospitable hosts. They have a lovely, big home which offers a real sense of being part of a neighborhood within the Lenox community. The back yard was lush and full of beautiful flowers. The room itself was spacious, clean and comfortable. There is a desk area, seating area, television full of premium channels and an in suite bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, it has a rain shower and a tub with jets, along with an abundance of various soaps, shampoo, even extras such as toothpaste, cotton facial wipes and Q-tips. Robesa and slippers are provided, along with plenty of towels and face/wash cloths. Their daughter was visiting for the weekend, and I also met a full time renter in the home who was friendly. Overall, a comfortable and homey stay. Parking is ample, too.

    Susan2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie's beautiful house is perfectly situated in the heart of the Birkshires. We stayed at the lovely furnitured Suite under the rooftop. Jackie is an energetic person, quiet busy but always checking if we were happy with everything. She welcomed us to use the kitchen as we wanted for breakfast. The hole house is clean and the room, bathroom and kitchen are well equipped. We enjoyed our summertime stay, but the house and its surroundings must be even cosier during wintertime.

  • What a relaxing stay any time of the year.

  • The "cozy cottage" location was ideal for our trip to the Berkshires; much closer to Tanglewood (one of our destinations) than I imagined, yet in a private neighborhood no where near the festival congestion. Madison's home is beautifully decorated and everything we needed - and some things we hadn't even anticipated (like a cold bottle of bubbly!) - was provided. We felt very pampered!

    Sorrel2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • For my second year in a row had a perfect stay!! The house is clean and welcoming with beautiful gardens and a great yard to spend time in. The lake and beach just a few homes away is a definite bonus!! For my purpose the location is just great!!

  • We had a lovely stay in this house -- it was absolutely beautiful. The beach was very close, and we enjoyed spending time there. The house is well-equipped, clean, and comfortable. While the neighborhood is quiet and residential, the house is a very short drive away from Tanglewood, downtown Stockbridge, downtown Lenox, hiking, and other attractions.

    Aurelia2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Madison was an incredibly gracious and communicative host! She even left a happy birthday banner for my son knowing we would be celebrating during our stay. Fireplace was stacked with wood and plenty more (ended up being a cool and rainy May weekend). Furnishings were in good condition, kitchen well-appointed, lots of bird life at the feeders and very conveniently located. We had a great stay - hope to return!

A wonderful welcoming house in a beautiful residential neighborhood. Our favorite things to do within 15 minutes are Tanglewood, Kripalu , Mt Greylock, the Norman Rockwell Museum, skiing and hiking nearby. Our home is centrally located to all of the fun things to do in the Berkshires. We've lived here for over 20 years and are happy to provide helpful insights for your stay. One of the reasons we love the Berkshires is that each season offers wonderfully unique experiences for any visitor.
The large guest suite/studio is perfect for three people with a comfortable king-sized bed, twin bed and plus a queen-sized air mattress can be added to accommodate more guests. The spacious room also offers a private full bath, seating area (loveseat, TV and coffee table ) plus a large walk-in closet for your belongings. A mini-refrigerator is provided to guests as well as coffee maker. The guest room is located on our second floor so there are steps to get into our home as well as into the guest area.
We live directly across the street from an elementary school so the area is busy for a small period of time each morning and each afternoon when school is in session. Otherwise it is a diverse and safe neighborhood with kids traveling back and forth to the playground and adults walking, biking and running.
  • Private home in nice neighborhood. Off street parking. Huge room with amazingly comfortable bed. Bathroom had every kind of cosmetic amenity! Internet was fast and easy to connect with. Banana bread was a nice touch, likewise the fridge and microwave, the complimentary waters d snack bars. The home is immaculate and the AC and ceiling fan kept us delightfully cool. What haven’t they thought of? Even a sleep Sound machine. The bedding was immaculate, there were plenty of towels in the bathroom. I would stay here again in a second. Lovely home, lovely accommodations, the price is right and if like me and my wife you are cat people, there are four delightful cats who keep their distance but are there if you want to pet them.

  • Josie and Scott graciously welcomed us into their happy home. Their warm hospitality, amazing care with every detail, and lovely family (including sweet cats) made our stay a joy. It far exceeded our expectations for our first Airbnb.

  • This is a great space in a very warm and congenial home setting. The room is really quite large and is more an efficiency since there is are kitchenette areas (fridge and coffeemaker) and a nice full bathroom. There is plenty of space, and cozy corners to sit and lounge. The bed is huge, amazingly comfortable and comforting during the cold, dark nights of winter! Fairly close to Jiminy (20-25 mins depending on weather), and a few convenience stores (5-10 minutes). Downtown is also 5-10 mins away. The banana bread was a wonderful surprise, plenty of teas and coffee types to get started in the morning, and a very friendly family to host (including the cats). It was my first stay in someone's home, and I really found it full of advantages with no down sides. Highly recommend!

    Erica2017-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome in Josie's house, and were impressed by the spaciousness of the upstairs suite, with private bathroom, huge bed, and plenty of space. Josie's husband was very helpful and made us feel right at home!

    Jason2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Hosts are a lovely friendly family with very sweet cats. Couldn't be more helpful. Room is very spacious, clean and comfortable even during the heat wave with fan and AC. Bed, pillows, and linens all super nice. Off street parking in the shade nice and very pleasant neighborhood. A great location away from noise and traffic but very easy and quick to get to good restaurants, grocery stores, shops of all kinds, and movie theatres. Shhh - keep this a secret or they will never have a vacancy... Don't hesitate to stay here.

    Heather2018-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely room with a private bathroom. Josie did a great job making it feel comfortable. I was especially touched with the freshly-baked banana bread! I'll be back next time I come through town. Thanks!

This is a circa 1850's farmhouse, originally thought to be part of the Linden Ranch. The back portion of the house is estimated to have been added on around the first decade or so of the 1900's. As a result, the structure has an eclectic mix of hardwood flooring that add to the charm of the apartment. In keeping with the farmhouse design, a large deck has been added alongside the front of the building, along with a tin roof covering. An industrial vibe is also incorporated with a pipe and metal cord rail system. The interior has all the comforts of a modern space with central heating and an updated kitchen and bathrooms.

"Mr and Mrs Willard Edmister will entertain many Brooklyn guests during the season. Their new villa has a splendid location with an outlook over the Housatonic Valley. . . We are 3 generations of adults, enjoy music and people. The Emma Room has a king size bed. The Arden Room has a king bed. The West Wing is a king bedroom and living room with direct access to the first floor deck. Note: If some of your dates are booked you can switch rooms for longer stays. Looking forward to meeting you! Ken, Laurie, Tom & Robin

  • A wonderful, old, grand house in a quiet beautiful location. If you're looking for a peaceful stay in a location that is central to all the Berkshires has to offer, this is your place

  • We stayed in the Emma room which was spacious, light and airy with the best mattress ever! Our hosts were great! We so enjoyed our morning conversations and felt so at home with their welcoming and relaxed demeanors. Classical music playing in the morning was a nice touch and, oh...how I loved their sun room!

  • My husband and I were in Pittsfield for a wedding and are so glad we stayed here. I wish we could have stayed longer than the one night we had. The house is amazing! You feel like you're stepping back in time when you walk in the door. I felt so lucky to be staying in it. It's beautifully kept, clean and very comfortable. There are gorgeous flowering plants everywhere. We just loved sitting on the sun porch with plants surrounding us while the fireplace warmed us from the rainy day. The bedroom was a good size , with an ensuite bathroom and the bed was so very comfortable I could have stayed there all day! Our hosts couldn't have been nicer, greeting us with an offer of food and tea and the morning breakfast of yogurt, fruit, granola and eggs was perfect. We also enjoyed talking with them. Such a comfortable place to spend some time. We can't wait to stay in the Berkshire "cottage" again! PS- thank you for the scenic route recommendations to get back to Boston. Such a beautiful ride home!

  • We had a fabulous one night stay in the Emma room with King bed and private bath. Really above and beyond your typical airbnb listing. Everything very much as pictured but even better in person. This incredible house is in a quiet neighborhood of historic homes surprisingly close to Pittsfield center. Central between Williamstown and Lenox. Our room was on a back corner of the second floor which felt very quiet and bit more private from the owners quarters than Arden room. We had a nice visit in the beautiful sun room with Ken and Laurie on arrival. Enjoyed free roam through the beautiful main living areas depicted. Room had a fan as well as AC. Comfortable bed and linens. Tom was there in the morning to help us with anything we needed for a very nice light breakfast offering. Be sure to check out their store in town, just a block or two away by the Berkshire museum. Only wish we stayed longer! Recommending to all.

  • Ken was a wonderful host during our stay in the Berkshires. We cherished the interesting conversations with him and Tom over breakfast very much. Ken made us really feel welcome in his family's stunning house. We felt it was a perfect base to explore the Berkshires. There was an ideal balance between privacy and shared space. When we were upstairs in our room we felt like we were the only ones in the house. In the evenings we enjoyed walking to restaurants. There were quite a few within a 20 minute walk. We would love to stay here again in the future.

    Andrea2018-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were terrific. We met Ken & Tom who were friendly, interesting people who seemed to genuinely enjoy the airbnb experience. They sent us a listing of places of interest in the area after our reservation was confirmed, as well. We didn't go to Pittsfield for the airbnb experience but that experience became another highlight of our trip! The house is a "work in progress" so while it looks exactly like the pictures and it is very clean, it IS still being updated. Highly recommend.

    Allen2016-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • I was very impressed both by the beauty of the house and its cleanliness. The room was very comfortable and as advertised. All of the hosts were helpful, friendly, and truly interested in making the best experience for their guests. The wifi was spotty, but that often happens in the Berkshires.

Light-filled cottage on a hill near Tanglewood surrounded by open fields and beautiful gardens.
We are located on the border of The Berkshires, MA and Columbia County, NY. The area boasts great views, small family-run farms, orchards, and rolling hills. You’ll love our place set in a four season area with things to do for all tastes. Shop and dine in nearby Lenox, West Stockbridge or Chatham, NY. The town of Hudson is an easy 1/2 h drive. Enjoy world famous cultural events at Tanglewood (only 15 minutes away), Jacob's Pillow and other Berkshire Valley gems. In the summer, hike mountain ridges or go for a swim in nearby Queechy Lake. Have fun skiing in the winter. We are close to four ski resorts (Catamount, Butternut, Jiminy Peak and Bousquet). Our cottage is cozy and light-filled on a quiet road surrounded by open fields. It is the guesthouse on our property, but is private and separate from the main house. The bedroom has a full bed, and the common area has two twin-sized day beds. There is a working woodburning stove, and an open kitchen. The place is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and we are happy to have your pet. Please note that there will be an extra $50 one time charge for bringing any animal ( added to regular cleaning charge)
  • We were looking for a quiet romantic get away to enjoy the Bershires. This was it! The cottage surpassed our expectations. It was the perfect location to enjoy peace and serenity as well as hiking, biking, running, Tanglewood & out door Shakespeare. Galina's cottage was spotless, had all the "little things" that make it an extra comfortable home away from home. We loved it.

    NanceyAnne2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place was beautiful. Located slightly outside of town (7 min drive) from West Stockbridge, it's tucked away in the woods with a view of fields of flowers. We had complete and total privacy but also quick responses from Galina when we had a question. The cottage is adorable and perfect for a couple. It has everything - the kitchenette is perfect for a weekend away, there's a small grill outside, a small bench to look out onto the property and read, a table with four chairs to eat breakfast outside, a very comfortable bed with soft clean sheets, very clean and nice new bathroom, washer dryer, plenty of outlets, good wifi, parking on the premises... everything! We would have loved to stay longer if it was available, and would definitely come back!

    Jennifer2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this cottage while in the Berkshires with my two young daughters to visit Tanglewood and Jacob's Pillow. I didn't want to pay for an expensive hotel or inn. Galina's cottage was perfect. She texted the week of to coordinate arrival and met us at check-in to show us around. The cottage is very private. The cottage had tons of natural night, 3 sets of french doors leading outside, and is very tastefully decorated. The kitchen was small, but included everything we needed to cook meals all weekend for a family of 4 (the stove has 2 burners, with no oven, but the large countertop toaster oven was perfect for us). The kitchen was well stocked, including salt, pepper, sugar, paper towels, trash bags, dishwasher pods, etc.. (which is often not included). We had dinner on the patio the first night watching the sunset. The cottage overlooks a meadow, it is very peaceful. My girls loved playing by the field and we could see the kids through the large front window. The laundry (with Tide pods included) was very helpful. I was nervous at first because it was a hot weekend (80's) and the cottage does not have AC. But, the two fans and the dehumidifier at the cottage were really all we needed -- everyone was comfortable sleeping. We didn't even need to open the windows. The beds were comfortable as well. The location is also GREAT. We were less than 15 minutes, using backroads to Tanglewood. It was so easily to get in and out of Tanglewood -- even on Saturday night. Jacob's pillow was also only about 25 minutes away. Main Street in Stockbridge was very close, as was the Norman Rockwell Museum. We loved the Berkshires so much, we plan on making it an annual trip. And I hope I can book this cottage again. It was a great, GREAT value! Perfect for us. I highly recommend.

  • Galina's place was awesome, and Jacob was a great host. The cottage is a great space. It doesn't have too many bells and whistles, but it's a great retreat to disconnect and be in a beautiful setting. I didn't get to meet Galina or Jacob in person because of my schedule, but they were great over airbnb messaging. They were very responsive, and the place was clean and nice, with a comfortable bed!

  • We enjoyed a lovely weekend getaway at Galina's with our pup. It was a perfect retreat in a great rural location so close to our weekend adventures at Tanglewood and hiking BNRC trails. The space was clean, bright, and as described, and communications with Galina were all very easy.

    Robin2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • A stunning place. The hosts were lovely as was the space. True peace and beauty all around.

  • We had a wonderful time staying at the Galina’s place in the Berkshires, where we made plans to go to Tanglewood on Saturday night. It was close enough that it made it really convenient and far enough away that we had a lot of privacy. In the morning we loved waking up and seeing the hills from the big windows right by the bedroom and were able to use the little patio outside to have breakfast. Galina came by to say hello and was quite hospitable.. The town close by has enough amenities to keep everyone happy and has a great little market with sandwiches that won’t disappoint. There are also a number of coffee shops in the area and some other great restaurants nearby that you can take advantage of while you’re in town. I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re planning on spending some time in the Berkshires.

  • This is a great place to stay in the Berkshires. It’s close to a lot of towns and attractions and it’s a very peaceful spot to relax.

Queen size bed in a private bedroom. Perfect for one night or an extended stay in the Berkshires. Located in downtown Lee close to all local amenities. In room flat screen tv/dvd with Roku player. Access to large screened in porch and gas fire pit.
Wonderful private room only minutes from downtown Lee. Close to many restaurants and shops. Just off of the turnpike you have easy access to all of the cultural attractions that the Berkshires have to offer.
Lee, Massachusetts is the “Gateway to the Berkshires” and has everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Restaurants, shops and a picturesque park are only a three minute walk from our home.
  • David and Donna's place is right on the main road so there is a bit of traffic noise but also very easy to find! They thought of the little details....a comb, a razor, tylenol, candies, water bottles! The beds were great and the shower was hot!

    Cynthia2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Details make a difference. The hosts were thoughtful down to the details.

    Melissa2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was short but good - quiet, comfortable and many thoughtful touches including homemade. good value amd would recommend. Only snag was Airbnb directed us to Lenox, not Lee which hopefully will be sorted soon.

  • Like going "home." Clean, comfortable, convenient, no frills room with shared bath. I'll be recommending it to friends.

  • David and Donna are lovely, and couldn't be friendlier, better hosts. The rooms were exactly as promised and very pretty. David welcomed us with the most delicious homemade brownies! All details were attended to, from earplugs and nightshades if we needed them, to bottled water, extra toothbrushes and aspirin. The great old house is a three minute walk to the historic downtown, and there are lots of restaurants to choose from. Super close to great fly fishing (which is why we were there), hikes and beautiful countryside. We can't wait to come back! Thanks David and Donna!

  • David and Donna were fantastic hosts--attentive without being overbearing. When a potential change in the accommodations came up, David was forthright with the information, offered us options, and made us feel like we were being taken care of. In the end the accommodations were exactly what we expected and were great. And Muffy (the dog) is the sweetest!

The Edmister House. . . Experience the past in a gracious turn of the century Berkshire "cottage", custom built for New York society second homeowners escaping the summer city. "Mr and Mrs Willard Edmister will entertain many Brooklyn guests during the season. Their new villa has a splendid location with an outlook over the Housatonic Valley. . . They closed up their summer home and returned to the city. They'll reopen it for the holidays" Brooklyn Life, 1914/20
Experience a bit of the gilded age in our unique turn of the century Berkshire cottage with large spacious rooms, 3 working fireplaces downstairs, large private yard for reading and enjoying Berkshire time. We recently purchased this 10,000 sq foot house as a multi-generational family home and are cautiously renovating it while maintaining it's original integrity. We are 3 generations of adults, enjoy music and people. The West Wing is located on the first floor with a private bath, king bedroom with living room. It has direct access through the main house or from the deck. The Emma Room has a king bed on the second floor, The Arden Room has a king bed. If some of your dates are booked you can switch rooms for longer stays. Looking forward to meeting you! Ken, Laurie, Tom & Robin
located in quiet residential historic district of like homes.
  • Great place in a beautiful town - highly recommended for a night (or many nights) away and some exploring in the Berkshires. Great hosts, warm people with awesome food and activity suggestions.

    Kristen2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful home accessible to everything. You will be stunned by the art, antiques and architecture. The place is immaculate and the hosts are available but non-intrusive and very communicative. We will definitely return. Highly recommend.

  • We were very happy with the excellent location and the charming set up of our room. We were pleasantly surprised that there was also a sitting room as part of the "suite". Comfortable bed too. The house is a gorgeous old house and the gardens looked beautiful as well. Laurie and Ken were so nice! They offered a lovely continental breakfast and Laurie generously offered us a glass of wine if we wanted. We did! It was a very nice experience and if we go back to Pittsfield we would certainly want to go back and stay here.

    Susan2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I enjoyed a very comfortable stay in the spacious first floor West Wing, with two beds and a private bath. Ken and Laurie were gracious hosts, and their grand "villa" was warm and welcoming. Wine was waiting in the fridge, and a Keurig coffee maker was ready and waiting in the common guest kitchen. Located in a quiet neighborhood at the south edge of Pittsfield, it was easy to get to Tanglewood, yet removed from the busy streets of Lenox. Would definitely return!

    Connie2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Laurie and Ken were vert communicative during the booking process. Their responses were speedy. Laurie requested that I change rooms and I was happy to accommodate her and thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Emma room with my partner Brian. The house was lovely, exactly as pictured on the website. Laurie and Ken were friendly, but we were still able to have our private time. Breakfast was very substantial with bagels, croissants, fruit, yogurt, and the famous Berkshire Bola granola. Weiss a lovely conversation with Ken, Laurie, and Laurie's father Tom. The hosts were very knowledgeable about the area and they run a museum reproduction store in town. You even get a small discount there. There are plenty of public spaces to enjoy and you are left on your own to explore. Laurie graciously offered us wine upon our arrival which started our vacation off on a relaxing note. The neighborhood is very safe and 5 minutes from downtown Pittsfield. Laurie and Ken will help you with ideas for activities in the Berkshires. Overall we had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to visit again.

  • We had a lovely time at Ken and Laurie's beautiful home. We couldn't have asked for more--the room was spotless, comfortable new bed, soft sheets, private bathroom... They offered us breakfast in the morning, which was such a treat. Location is great! The view from the deck is amazing and all of the spaces within the home are just like the photos. We can't wait to go back and stay there again. Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • Great value and wonderful people. The house is absolutely charming, well located to the main attractions and the hosts are a wealth of useful information. They generously provided breakfast every morning and even beers in the evening. We’ll definitely be back in the fall.

  • This is a grand house with a very welcoming host family. The west wing suite was luxurious with an extremely comfortable bed and lots of room to spread out. Our hosts were very generous in allowing us to bring our golden retriever, and they even pet sit for us while we explored the area.

Tanglewood is 15 minutes away. The porch overlooks grazing cattle and the Tyringham Cobble. Perfect for a relaxing evening after a busy day of sightseeing or hiking.
Completely private, second floor room in a stand-alone structure, separate from the main house with own entrance and drive. The studio is equipped with a fridge and coffee maker. Please note: • There is no kitchen. • The bed is a double size Murphy bed (so maximum occupancy of 2 adults). • Wifi is available, but limited bandwidth so not suitable for streaming. Located in Tyringham, 1 mile from the Lee town line.
Walking distance to Santarella (Tyringham’s Famous “Gingerbread House”). Tyringham Cobble, Appalachian Trail, Ashintully Gardens, Goose Pond, Beartown State Forest all nearby. Shops and restaurants, including the Premium Outlets, are 3 miles away. Minutes away from all Berkshire cultural attractions in Stockbridge, Lenox and Great Barrington: Tanglewood, Kripalu, Shakespeare & Co, Norman Rockwell Museum, Barrington Stage Co, The Mount, Ventfort Hall, Shrine of the Divine Mercy, Hancock Shaker Village. Mass MoCA and Clark Art Museum an easy scenic 50 minute drive. Convenient to Butternut, Bosquet, Otis Ridge and Jiminy Peak Ski Areas.
  • It was a very good stay. As first guests, we were very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was and how beautiful the area was. Cornelia and her husband were friendly and welcoming. The pictures can't do the view justice, it's one of the more beautiful sections of the Berkshires that we found, and we drove to Mass MOCA and back (which was about 55 minutes). Having coffee with my girlfriend and the cows each morning was divine.

Small rustic Berkshire home, updated for comfortable year-round living. Located on same road as Tanglewood, Kripalu, Stockbridge Bowl, Botanical Garden. Less than 5-minute drive to historic downtown Stockbridge, Red Lion Inn and all the four season activities of the Berkshires!
  • Fantastic host. I was in the Berkshires for an intensive workshop and the house was perfect to come back to. The house was clean, tidy and warm with large rooms and kitchen. What a treat to be in the Berks for fall foliage- this is a great spot for it. And a bonus- it's a very short drive to either side of Stockbridge Bowl. Thanks Mark!
