Route
“Found not far from the castle, this terrace offers the best postcard views (and photos) of Lisbon. It overlooks the domes and rooftops of the city's oldest historic neighborhood and the waterfront.”

“ French chef David Eyguesier honed his skills at Pois Café, then his own underground restaurant at home before opening this sorely needed Alfama gem whose name loosely translates as 'The Truants' (he 'skipped' culinary school!). His daily-changing, market-fresh set menus delight under a spiderweb of modern lighting, beautiful geometric cabinetry and an open kitchen. No microwave. No freezer!”

“For a vegetarian meal try Princesa do Castelo. It's very well decorated in the inside, but also has a table outside. Quite nice, not expensive, different menu everyday. Closes on Monday.”

“The Portas do Sol cocktail bar invites everyone to have a boogie on weekends, and it also serves food, to balance out all that sangria. The bar of this lookout is integrated into a building of the award-winning pair of architects Aires Mateus and is animated at weekends by a DJ who puts Lisbon and tourists dancing around the statue of São Vicente de Fora, patron saint of Lisbon.”

Scenic Lookout
“It's perhaps the least known lookout point in the city, since it only opened in 2015. It's found not far from the castle, and in the shade of olive trees you have a beautiful view of Alfama, from the National Pantheon to the Church of St. Stephen. ”

“Restaurant Leopold promises an unforgettable dining experience and doesn’t disappoint: everything is challenging, everything is new, everything is innovative. The concept favors a careful selection of ingredients (the vegetables are mostly national and biological, for example) and challenges the Chef himself: the idea is to play with the flavors, textures and premium plating on Caldas tableware. The menu is tiny, but all the dishes are unique and placed in the middle of the table – sharing and socializing is encouraged between everyone who sits around it.”

Église
“One of the city's oldest buildings, a survivor of the 1755 earthquake, is found on Largo do Menino Deus. It's an emblematic house from the 1500s that maintains the traditional architecture of the time, with three floors and an outside stairway, narrow doors and balconies. Also common was the triangular roof found on another charming house nearby, on Rua dos Cegos. Also on Largo do Menino Deus is an impressive but little-known church, Igreja do Menino de Deus.”
