  • despite the bad weather we had a perfect weekend it is a beautiful place to stay. you are left to your own devices although if you need anything christa and roger are more than happy to help. its very romantic. just what we needed. we are definitely going back in the summer. Thanks for having us

  • Extremely beautiful place, can't really describe what an amazing experience it was! Was a little tricky to find her place for us 'cause we thought some off-roads were to small to lead up to it. Advice to others, follow her instructions EXACTLY and you'll find your way to her wonderful home! Everything in the instructions did make sense after we finally got there. Christa and her husband were really friendly and accommodating and helpful and we had a great time even though we stayed for one night! Highly recommend a BBQ but do it BEFORE or AFTER dusk or else you'll suffer the wrath of mosquitoes and other insects like we did. Bringing your own mosquito repellent/coils/nets would help you enjoy the experience better! Alternatively, you can have breakfast in the morning right outside the yurt, they set-up a table with 4 chairs there so it was perfect for us to indulge in the great outdoors while enjoying our meal. It's all self-catering though! (:

  • We found the experience to be a sensual, blissful, charming escape. Christa's yurt should be high on your priority if you are looking for a unique experience with nature. It is really an experience you wont forget. Highlights were jumping into the river after using the log-burning sauna. We went as a group of friends (4) and we had the best time, despite the rain. (Yurting is the only time where you can embrace the rain!) Although it is also very romantic. Highly recommend (and so cheap!). Christa is a lovely host and super helpful, thank you so much for the experience!

    Joey2015-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, secluded yurt by a river. Christa was great, offering advise on places to eat, and being fairly hands off (which was appreciated) although just a door knock away if needed. The yurt itself is incredible, it was our first time in one, but they are so warm, especially with the wood burner. If only we could have had better weather, but this just means we'll have to make a trip back again some time, probably for a longer stay as well!

    Steve2015-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wow....the stay at this yurt really was magical. What a perfect and beautiful place to stay. I had high expectations that were surpassed as soon as we saw the space. The candlelit sauna was the icing on the cake. Christa was a brilliant host and we would like to say a massive thanks for such a peaceful and happy weekend..we will be back soon ! X

    Beth2014-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a a relaxing and beautiful stay at Christa's fabulous yurt. Everything was clean and ready when we arrived, and Christa was very welcoming. We had BBQs on both days and used the caravan kitchen for any additional food prep. The wood burning fire kept us warm all night, we used a few blankets but were never cold, and it was a very windy weekend. The shower wasn't great, but for 2 days stay it was fine. We must recommend using the sauna and a brave jump in the river; also a trip to 'Exquisitely Delicious Desserts in Llandielo, they really were. And such a treat to lie out under the stars with no light pollution, we felt totally away from it all, with Christa close enough if we needed her. We will definitely be coming back for another visit, romantic and fun all in one. Recommend entering local town name into the sat-nav and following directions given by Christa. Hannah (and Greg) x

  • A magical getaway in the heart of Wales. The yurt was beatiful and cosy, and Christa had got the wood burner roaring for our arrival. The surrounding area has great walks and country pubs. The place is just dreamy. 100% coming back!

    Cai2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We - two big people and two small kids - had a great time in the beautiful yurt and surrounding countryside. Plenty of room in the yurt plus great facilities for cooking and showering in the Eco caravan. Weather meant we did not manage a swim or sauna - definitely will next time! The best bit was that falling asleep in front of the fireplace - I closed my eyes and could not hear a single car. A rare treat for the UK.

  • Myself and a few friends had a lovely stay in Alices cottage during the easter break. The place felt just like home, was impeccably clean and had everything we could have needed to cook, as well as easy access to pubs and supermarkets in the centre of town. Alice kept in touch during our stay and even left us a bottle of wine and tea and coffee which was a nice surprise. Thanks again!

Set in the heart of Wales, the home is ideally located for those ready to get away from it all and to enjoy a true Welsh holiday. This detached property is situated on the edge of the beautiful small market town of Llandovery, with all the luxuries and more of home. Guests will find a peaceful family home which will always provide a warm and stress-free welcome at the end of your day. The home away from home is ideal for walkers, cyclists, couples and families. A real hidden gem!
The home is on the edge of the small picturesque town of Llandovery. The town centre is minutes walk from my front door as is the town rail station on the Heart of Wales railway line. The three full size bedrooms are warm and clean; there is ample storage space for belongings. The kitchen is open plan, spacious and with an Aga for guests to use; the rustic dining table sits 8. The living room has a gas fireplace, DVDs and a flatscreen TV. The comfy sofas are the perfect place to relax after a long day, and the panoramic window can give a beautiful view of the sunset (if you're lucky and it's not raining!). The garden backs onto a footpath that can be followed down to the banks of the River Towy, under 2 minutes walk away! Breakfast is available in the form of cereal, porridge, fruit, yoghurt, toast and juice. I also have a Nutri-bullet blender and Omega juicer for you to use to prepare supplies for the day ahead! My sons are keen readers and therefore there are a wide selection of books both classic and modern for guests to read. There are plenty of boardgames and I also have a piano and guitar for the music lovers! There is a 3/4 size snooker table in the home with chalk, cues and balls. There are lots of sports equipment left over by my boys which includes golf clubs which can be hired to play the local golf course, which is a five minute walk from my garden. Full signal and Wifi is available throughout the property. There is off-road parking available. Smoking is allowed outside the house in the rear garden. The house is centrally heated and laundry is available for those staying a minimum of three nights.
There are a number of charming little shops and a selection of pubs and restaurants in Llandovery to spend an evening. Llandovery’s unique location makes it the perfect place for you to base yourself for your Welsh holiday. The following are just some of the places to visit, the driving time there is in brackets. To the North….... Cwm-Rhaedyr red route Mountain Biking (15min) Mountain Bike Rider magazine quoted it has “one of the best trails we’ve ridden anywhere in the UK” Dolaucothi Gold Mines (20min) The ancient Roman Gold Mines are great for adults and kids. Twm Sion Cati Nature Reserve and Cave (20min) My favourite walk in the local area! Walk along the boardwalk in thick woods rife with bird species to a circular walk, and the "cave" where the Welsh Robin Hood used to hide from the law! Llyn Brianne Dam (30min) There are numerous walks around and across the huge Dam wall in the foothills of the Elan Valley. Elan Valley (1hr) A walker’s and cyclist’s dream. The stunning Elan Valley is criss-crossed with trails for all levels and abilities. To the East........... Brecon Beacons and Pen-y-Fan (30min) The spectacular Brecon Beacons is on the doorstep. A half hour drive to the highest mountain in South Wales, Pen-y-Fan is also a must! Usk reservoir (30min) A great place for a picnic, numerous trails go around the lake. A good point to begin and end a day’s hiking. Llangorse lake riding and climbing centre (40min) Perfect for kids of all ages. I used to take my boys there for their birthday every year, perfect for a rainy day! The Big Pit Museum (1hr 10min) A great chance to understand the history of South Wales by going down a Welsh mine, with underground tours. To the South and West............ Red Kite feeding station (15min) A good place to stop off at on the way to or back from a day on the Black Mountain or up Llyn-y-Fan Fach. National Trust Property Dinefwr House and Castle (20 mins) Beautiful walk from the grounds of the country estate to the castle through a deer park. The house is perfect for a rainy day. Black Mountain, (25min) The Black Mountain is a great ascent on a clear day. Talley Abbey and Nature Reserve (25min) The Abbey itself is in ruins now but the walks around the Nature Reserve are beautiful. Dan yr Ogof Caves (30 min) Spend a day at one of the largest cave systems in Europe. There are loads of great walks in the surrounding mountains too. Castles: Carrig Cennen, Dinefwr, Dryslwyn (30min). Wales has more castles per square mile than anywhere in the world! Carrig Cennen is just a short drive away and in my view is the best of the bunch! Llyn-y-Fan Fach (30min) An absolutely incredible walk to a lake which sits in the shadow of the mountain summit. The lake itself is the subject of the Lady of the Lake legend. The views from the summit are well worth the hike. National Botanic Gardens (35min) Llansteffan Beach (50min) A personal favourite of mine as you can walk around the headland of the beach and up to a castle that looks out over the estuary. Dylan Thomas Boathouse (55min) The boathouse in Laugharne where Dylan penned his poems is a wonderful change from the hills and mountains of mid Wales. The town of Laugharne is beautiful and has some lovely walks along the coastal path. There are also plenty of wonderful trails around Llandovery for those who don't want to venture too far from the house. I'm happy to show you on a map all my favourite trails around the local area!

It is well appointed, quiet and has lovely extensive countryside views and a sheltered terraced outside area to eat al fresco or just sit quietly. There is parking for numerous cars. There is plenty of room in the lounge for the fold-up bed, or it can go in either bedroom. Llandovery is a pleasant market town, only 10 mins by car, along the leafy lane that leads down to the main road. Take your time along here; there are many blind bends and 20 mph is quite fast enough! Many shops, including a medium size supermarket, bakers, butchers, delis, cafes Post office, gift shops etc. A great Chinese takeaway, and the Three Horseshoes fish and chip restaurant and takeaway, both on the main street are recommended, and there are Indian and other fast food outlets. There are several good places to eat out; The Old Printing Office cafe (daytime) is my favourite, behind the shop. The Kings Head and Castle Hotels do good food, as does the Three Horse Shoes restaurant and takeaway. The town used to have over 30 pubs! But now there are approximately 10, and there a several country pubs in the Towy valley that make a good welcome and do food. I provide a detailed list in my welcome pack and handbook. Llandovery is the home of the Llandovery Drovers, a semi professional Welsh Premiership rugby side, and the centre of the small town is occupied by the famous Llandovery College, where many sporting greats have come to the notice of talent spotters, especially on the rugby field. There is a swimming pool, tennis squash and raquetball courts, bowls and croquet adjacent to the delightful Castle Fields cricket ground, next to the car park in the centre of town. A visit to the livestock market, beyond the town car park, on Tuesday mornings or most Fridays could be an interesting excursion. This lovely rural area is fantastic for the outdoors with walking, cycling, both on road and off, and we even have a great MTB trail within easy cycling range of the farm, Cwm Rhaeadr MTB forest trail; cycle over into the next valley, 30 mins, ride the trail, 45 mins /lap, dine in the Neuadd Arms in Cilycwm and ride back to Owl Barn at Penygaer. Phew! Or put the bike in the car to get there..... There are many other cycle and walking tracks through Crychan forest on the opposite side of our Bran valley, or ride/ walk out onto the hills of mid Wales or the Brecon Beacons, only 30 mins away. Visit; Lyn y Fan; the most fantastic (URL HIDDEN) is a delightful lake nestling in the cwm of Fan Fawr, the mountain in the view from the kitchen door; 35 mins in the car, then 40 mins walk to the lake. Magical with mystical stories about the Lady of the Lake! On to the top of Fan Fawr is a good hike, but what a view...yes, that is Somerset you can see from there! Gold Mines at DolauCothi 30 mins away by car Upper Towy valley, Cilycwm, Rhandirmwyn and on to the Lynne Brianne dam, the largest of it's type in Europe, walking/cycling, very scenic 35 mins to the dam up the Towy valley. Aberglasney; world famous gardens, 40 mins National Botanic Garden of Wales, Nantgaredig 45 mins Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli, home of Scarlets rugby 60+ mins Cardiff and the Millenium Stadium 80+ mins Swansea (football and Ospreys rugby) and The Gower peninsular, beaches, walking, etc 90 mins Llandeilo; shopping and architecture 30 mins Brecon; shopping and architecture 35 mins Laugharne; home of Dylan Thomas 65 mins Brechfa forest/Abergorgech; superb MTB trails, 35 mins Dan yr Ogof show caves open to the public 40 mins Ystradfellte; amazing walks in wonderful sheltered wooded valleys with waterfalls and caves Horse riding at Cae Iago Riding Centre, Ffarmers 35 mins Llangose lake; sailing, canoeing etc. beyond Brecon 40 mins Rallying; many events throughout the year, on the Eppynt military range or in Crychan and Halfway forests, 25 mins The area has fantastic roads for motorcyclists, and you will notice many of them visit the town for a cuppa on their travels in summer. Golf; there's a nine hole course just beside the river Towy. 10 mins Builth Wells has a good 18 hole course. 35 mins Builth Wells is also home to the annual Royal Wesh Show around the end of July, and the showground hosts many other events throughout the year. Fishing is possible on the Towy river that flows down its beautiful adjacent valley and past Llandovery, or at Springwater Lakes 30 mins away towards Lampeter.
  • Wow! Everything about this venue is fabulous. The property is modern, comfortable, spacious, spotlessly clean and luxurious. The location was amazing, with the most incredible views. We all wished that we were staying longer!

  • We really enjoyed our short stay at Owl Barn, it provided the perfect backdrop to our Welsh getaway, just wish we were able to stay longer. The barn conversion itself has been executed to an extremely high standard throughout with great attention to detail there really isn't anything left wanting. All spaces work extremely well and it was a real pleasure just to spend time using the facilities, summer or winter its a great space that's also so convenient to many local highlights. Can't recommend it more highly - 5 stars

  • Owl Barn provided a perfect base for our long weekend away. It was light and spacious with wonderful views over the Brecon Beacons. Jon was prompt with his responses and provided a ream of useful information on walks, local restaurants and transport etc. The apartment was also extremely well equipped and provided everything we might need. We've already talked about going back and would certainly recommend it bring one of the best air bnb experiences we've had.

  • Jon has an exceptionally nice and beautiful place, with tasteful decoration and superb lighting. It definitely made up for the rainy days during our stay!

  • The barn is absolutely beautiful as is the countryside. Very quiet and peaceful. Cows and sheep in the fields just over the lane. There was a little rope swing in a field which kept the kids busy for ages. Jon was a great host, all comms easy and quick. We'd stay again.

    Barry2015-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Description was spot on for the accommodation, everything we needed was right there. Owl Barn was warm and welcoming when we arrived and Jon had stayed in touch to make sure we got there OK. Fabulous base for exploring the local area as well as a little further afield. Plenty of room for the bikes to be stored and the barn is finished to a very good standard. Lovely place to stay!

  • This is a beautiful little cosy place packed with all the essentials and home comforts you could want. Gill has thought of everything when she has equipped the place! It is in a very pretty part of Wales and is very secluded and quiet. Lots of amazing walks nearby. A peaceful escape!

  • I visited Gill's idyllic spot in the heart of the Welsh countryside for my 40th Birthday and had a fabulous and memorable stay. Gill was easy to communicate with before arrival and warm and friendly on greeting, gave us superb local knowledge and made us feel welcome and at home straight away. She was easily available by text throughout the stay and totally respected our privacy. The space was just as in the photos and the surroundings so peaceful and serene, as the name suggests with picture postcard scenery. I would totally recommend and would go back a second time. The only negative was feeling sad when we had to leave!

  • Had a wonderful time again at Seren Loft. A great place for a quiet retreat in a lovely setting. Great location for getting to loads of places for days out too. Well equipped and comfortable, and beautifully clean. Gill is a fantastic and friendly host. Looking forward to staying again in the future!

  • I can't recommend this loft highly enough - cosy, warmly, welcoming, it has everything one needs for a small holiday in Wales. Gill is super helpful and friendly. I just hope that I get to make it there again soon! Thank you, Gill.

  • The property is outstanding even better than the photographs. It is clean, tidy, well equipped and stands in a beautiful setting. Gill is a wonderful host doing all she could to make our stay comfortable and interesting. Communication was excellent and we would love to return in the future.

  • I can't fault a single thing about Gill's place it is so lovely and cosy and well equipped and in a beautiful part of Wales. Highly recommended, one of the nicest places i've stayed.

  • Absolutely LOVED our stay at Seren Loft! Gill & Pip gave us such a warm welcome, and their friendliness continued throughout our stay. The log fire, board games/puzzles & day bed nook as well as being able to sit on the veranda for breakfast were some of our favourite things about Seren Loft. Just want to thank Gill for recommending the Llyn Brianne Reservoir! We stopped there before we headed home & the views were breathtaking! Thank you both again, and hopefully we'll see you in the future when little one has arrived! Alex & Ryan, xoxo

    Ryan2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is Airbnb at its very best. In the middle of the most beautiful and peaceful part of Wales you find Gill's amazing Seren Loft. The loft has everything you'd expect from a great stay anywhere: the super-comfy bed, plenty of hot water, a well-equipped kitchen, speedy WiFi and a wealth of ways to amuse yourself both at home and locally. Gill's personal touches really make this place a home-from-home, though, and I suspect she had tailored these specifically based on the information I had shared with her before our stay. Gill's a great host: ready to help if you need her but also very respectful of her guests' peace and privacy. We simply couldn't have had a nicer holiday and we can't wait to come back to Seren Loft.

Set within an acre of secluded gardens, Penroc Barn sits in the beautiful Welsh countryside just outside the market town of Llandovery. It dates from the sixteenth century and is a self-contained part of a larger property where the owner lives. It has been uniquely and sympathetically converted to retain its true character and highlight the beautiful old beams. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families & kids, and furry friends (Two well-behaved pets only).
Penroc Barn dates from the sixteenth century and is a self-contained part of a larger property where the owner lives. It has been uniquely and sympathetically converted to retain the true character of the place and highlight the beautiful old beams. It comprises a double-height entrance hall with a piano which leads into a fully equipped open-plan kitchen with a multi-fuel stove that runs the central heating, gas cooker, fridge, and freezer. (A high chair is also available.) There is a downstairs loo/shower room (with a washing machine) and a comfortable, spacious yet cosy living room with an open fire, TV and DVD player. (One of the sofas is a sofabed.) Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms and one triple bedroom (double and a single) and a bathroom. There is wifi throughout. In the garden there is an outside fireplace and a bbq. There is ample off-road parking in the front of the barn.
  • Lovely house, it was my friend who found this place on air bnb, we were 3 so the house was very spacious to us! It was my first time in Wales, we came by bus, so even without a car you can reach Mandy's place. We hiked in the neighborhood, I would love to explore more of the Brecon Beacons National park in the future. thank you Mandy!

Location is very convenient for walks. We went for one recommend by Mandy and what a day it was! Pictures can't do justice to how nice the cottage is. Mandy is a great host. We'll definitely going to be back :-)

  • Wales delivered its usual wet weather for us, so we were very grateful for such a lovely little hideaway. The house is a bit nippy on arrival, but this is soon changed by lighting the lounge log burner. The oil filled radiators are enough to keep the house cosy over night if not using the rayburn, making a warm and inviting kitchen and lounge for breakfast time. We walked down to the pub in the village one night and had a decent and well priced meal. Rhandirmwyn also has a lovely pub 'Royal Oak' (but this was closed on Monday when we tried to visit). Between these and the Tawy Bridge Inn, you never need to venture far, and all these areas have fantastic walks. My father and I went to spend some quality time together away from internet, phones and other distractions. It was a success and despite the rain, we enjoyed our stay very much, reminding us of holidays we used to have 20 years ago. The information provided by Sara is very good, however it is worth nothing the details down before arriving as there is no signal there. Luckily I did. All house details are then in a folder at the house once you've found it. They have kindly put a sign to say 'next left' for the house, however go carefully because the farm sign is hard to read as it is all in brown. Directly opposite the house you can go through the gate, across the stream and past some really beautiful secluded houses to get to the village. Much nicer than walking down the farm track and main road.

  • Perfect country cottage in beautiful countryside. Secluded and quiet. Cosy and warm with woodburning stove. Large comfortable double bedrooms. Walking distance to friendly village pub (take a torch for the dark lane!) that has great food and lovely locals. We had a very happy 5 day stay with our two kids and dog. Highly recommended.

  • A perfect country getaway. Everything was just as it should be if you want to change gear, slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures in life. The countryside was stunning and walking was magical.

  • Beautiful traditional cottage with bags of character. Gets quite cold so glad I brought plenty of layers to wear until the log burner was in full swing. Fantastic dog walks close by and loads of leaflets suggesting what to do. Botanic Gardens are a particularly lovely afternoon out about 30 minutes away.

    Rosie2017-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sara’s cottage is as bucolic and charming as we have found. The location is stunning, and the period furnishings and decor make for the perfect relaxing estate. We received no cell reception and there is no WiFi- this is a good thing! But definitely something of which to be aware. Sara’s communication before and her house manual gave us peace of mind. My husband is already planning how we can return for a longer stay.

    Danielle2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Was so pleased to find this welcoming, traditional Welsh cottage nestled in beautiful countryside. The perfect place to escape from it all, with plenty of good books and board games to keep entertained, and we loved the radiogram. The Rayburn takes a little getting used to, but heats the house well in winter when topped up regularly. The hosts were very friendly, as were those we met at the village pub, just wish we'd had more time to explore the area. Highly recommended!

    Rose2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Llwynhelyg with our 8-year old daughter and two dogs. The cottage is in a very peaceful, secluded location and it was a real adventure to be techno-free for a week! Our daughter played board games for the first time ever, and loved it. The dogs really enjoyed chasing each other round the garden, which was secure enough to contain them. We took them on lovely long walks every day without having to bundle them into the car and strolled down to the local dog-friendly pub several times, where we experienced great food and hospitality. All in all, it was a wonderful get-away-from-it-all week in Wales.

  • A very special place in the middle of forest. Nicely decorated cottage with a warm fire and friendly hosts waiting for us. Great welcome instructions and useful local hiking tips. Hot water, 24h electricity thanks to combination of solar+generator, so the remoteness does really affect the comfort. Great place for the kids: 2 friendly dogs, 5 cats and lots of space to explore. Beautiful.

  • I can't recommend Julie and Tony's place enough. After following some excellent directions to their very remote location, we arrived to a roasting hot wood burner and a plate of Welsh cakes on the table. For a reunion with some school friends, the hen house was incredibly comfortable, Julie and Tony very hospitable with some great walking tips, and there were even some entertaining farm animals passing our door. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again

  • We had a brilliant time, Sophie's house is lovely and we particularly enjoyed the enjoyed the cozy lounge and having a quiet drink in the courtyard garden. We used the stay for a walking break on Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons and it's location was good. We didn't explore our surroundings, but reading the visitor book suggested there was plenty of interesting things to do outside of walking the hills! After a tiring days walk, the bed was comfortable, beautifully presented and clean. Thanks again, Andy

  • Great location to sit back and unwind! The house has everything you could need and is very well thought out. Amazing walking in all directions and Sophie’s instructions and support were second to none! Thank you!!!

  • We had a lovely time at Sophie's beautiful house. It's been recently renovated with a lot of care and thought and had everything we could need. The village is lovely with lots of great walks close by. The visitor centre and red kite feeding centre are both worth a visit. Sophie gave us lots of good information prior to the trip. We'd love to visit again in the future ...

  • If you're wanting to stay in the Brecon Beacons, this is the perfect place. In a quaint Welsh village, people are friendly and the staff in the visitor information centre (right behind the house) are so happy to Help. We arrived to a selection of eggs and Welsh cakes (which we fell in love with). There was enough coffee pods for one morning, And also instant coffee and tea. The house is adequately heated, beds are comfy and the house is super clean. Be sure to follow Sophie's instructions if you want to heat the house and shower water. Plenty of parking right outside the house!

    Rayne 2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, spacious house. We had four people but it would be equally comfortable with six. Sophie left fantastic instructions for the house, including a list of things to do and see while in the area. We went to see red kites being fed - can't recommend that enough, it was the highlight of our trip. The village of Myddfai is very small, but has a neat visitors center/ cafe/ gift shop which is worth a visit. Llandovery is a ten minute drive away and has some lovely pubs as well as a co-op for groceries.

    Emma2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cosy and thoughtfully renovated property in a peaceful and beautiful location. Sophie has provided everything you would need for a stay, including a clearly written and helpful house manual. Communication from the host was excellent. The decent WiFi connection is a big bonus for those who still need to stay connected to the outside world. Thoroughly recommended!

  • All instructions were clear and easy to follow; before entering the cottage, we could see the lights of the real Christmas tree beckoning. Tea was provided. There were no unwelcome surprises and the quality of all fixtures and fittings was good. Everywhere was perfectly clean. The dining kitchen was spacious and well-equipped, basics (hand-wash, washing-up liquid, tea-towels, loo rolls...) were provided. The also very spacious sitting-room meant that no one was in anyone's way. The bedrooms were comfortable and well- appointed. Planning and attention to details are very important and it is obvious that a great lot of thought has been put into everything. We had a lovely Christmas which made one wish for a longer stay. We enjoyed meeting Lucy whom we found welcoming and friendly.

  • Beautiful location for a stroll around. Very scenic. If you want to eat somewhere is has to be the Castle Pub in Llandovery. The food was incredible. The cottage was very spacious! Kitchen ample we even cooked a Sunday roast! We asked John and Lucy for a DVD player and with-in 5 mins of sending a message it appeared ! They were very attentive! Hot tub was a little too hot for us but again we were informed it was due to a new pump which has been looked at now. It was nice to sit in there and look at the sheep in the cold field! It was very quiet didn't hear anything from the other cottages either. Wifi great, TV signal great! Board games, books..!

  • We have just returned from a perfect two night stay at this gorgeous cottage. We didn't get to meet John but the instructions to get to the property were given well in advance. When we arrived at the cottage we were so impressed with this beautiful property which was really spacious with everything you could need for a weekend (or even a week) break. Immaculately presented and clean. The surrounding area is beautiful with Llandovery only a 10 minute drive where there is a supermarket, takeaways etc if you needed. Would definitely return!

  • We were grateful for the assistance our hosts provided when we arrived and the accommodation was very spacious and cosy warm over an otherwise cold weekend. There was everything we needed and this accommodation would be great for a longer stay as it has plenty of storage space. We were cycling and enjoyed a lovely ride straight from the door.

  • Perfect holiday cottage! John and Lucy had thought of everything. The property was immaculately clean, spacious and well equipped (the cake which was waiting for us on our arrival was delicious). Although the hot tub is shared between the five cottages you can book your two hour slot each day and have it to yourself...just perfect after a long day walking! The area is absolutely beautiful and tranquil with many walks and lovely places to visit. Thank you both for a most relaxing weekend. We have already recommended you to friends and family. We will be back!

  • Marian and Arwyn were very nice and cheerful hosts. Our room was spacious with an ensuite bathroom. Everything was clean. The cooked Welsh breakfast was delicious and filling. Location ideal, short drive to Llandovery for various restaurants and pub options. And an easy drive to different hikes and sights to visit. Would recommend this bnb and visiting the area.

  • My wife and I enjoy AirBnB as a way to travel and generally stay "on the cheap." On this occasion we decided to splurge a bit and it was so worth the money! From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted and welcomed by our host Arwyn (as Marian was busy outside). We were first struck by the gorgeous 17th century longhouse (albeit very tastefully added on to over the years) and the quiet, peaceful setting. Later, upon meeting Marian, we were warmly welcomed once again and given choices for our morning breakfast. We were also offered some much wanted (and needed) instruction in Welsh language :) Marian gave us a plethora of places to see during our stay—from St David's Cathedral (a bit of a drive) to the Brecon Beacons (just "next door")—and we were gobsmacked with the beauty of this area, both architecturally and naturally. It was a joy to return each evening to the quiet and warmth of this beautiful home and our immaculate, and perfectly furnished, room. I would personally say that this home is much nicer than it is depicted and no one can describe the surrounding areas as they are simply too fabulous. This was a five star experience for us! Escape to the countryside! My place is nestled between two forests, the Halfway and Crychan. Both are fabulous places for walking, cycling and horse-riding, with great views to the Carmarthen Fans and Brecon Beacons. You’ll love my place because of the cosy feel to the living accommodation and super comfy beds. My place is excellent for couples on a get-away; solo adventurers, families (with kids), and dog lovers. Come and enjoy all the country pursuits in the heart of rural Wales.
Large enough for a family, yet intimate for a cosy retreat. Comfy sitting room with log burner. You will love what we offer at The Byre. For the little ones we provide a travel cot, bedding and highchair at no extra charge, We particularly welcome walkers, fishing folk and cyclists with a laundry/drying room for wet and dirty gear after a day out! In addition, there is outside water for cleaning cycles, and we have a secure, separate lock-up for bicycles. There are many walking and cycling routes through the forest to explore and as hosts we can help you to make the most of your stay with us. We can accommodate 2 well behaved dogs, but do charge £5p/night for this (additional to Airbnb total price - paid in cash on arrival).
Babel is a collection of farmsteads and smallholdings. There are a plethora of criss-crossing paths, forestry roads and bridleways to explore, and walks for all abilities. Llandovery is a lovely Welsh market town with lots to see and do. It is well worth a visit, as too are the nearby towns of Llandeilo to the South West and Brecon to the East
  • Secluded property near to the national Park. No problems finding the cottage as the directions were clear. Property is spacious enough to sleep a few people. Living room area is very small but that was expected. Big dining table in the same room extends possibility to facilitate more people. Things to be aware of - there is no reception at all nor internet access. That makes difficult planning the stay while being there. A bit too much of "Private" signs around property... makes the guest feel a bit restricted. But dusty but again it is a rural property.. Main bedroom windows facing hosts property..

Lesley is a great host and very accommodating - homemade bread, cheese, milk, eggs and orange juice on arrival was a lovely touch. No signal or wifi in the cottage (a plus in our opinion!) but a short walk up the hill and you will find signal. Surrounded by different walks which Lesley had mapped out, or only a short drive to the Brecon Beacons. Very cosy living room with log burner and selection of DVDs. There is a garden behind the property with amazing views and lots of wildlife. We loved sitting in the kitchen in the morning and watching the birds take turns to eat from the bird feed. Perfect!

  • We had a great (EMAIL HIDDEN)munication and information provided before the stay was excellent and very helpful, the place was clean and comfortable, and Lesley was always on hand to provide additional information. I would definitely return for another stay.

  • Beautiful, peaceful spot close to great walking and cycling. Lesley provided a lovely welcome including homemade bread which was very tasty. Lesley was helpful and we were encouraged to knock on her door if we needed any help. Everything we needed was provided in the cottage and sitting with a glass of wine watching the chickens go about their business was very relaxing. We had a great couple of days, thank you Lesley!

  • A great place. So quiet and tranquil A lovely greeting from Lesley on our arrival and she was on hand to assist if required. We enjoyed our walk through the local oak woodland from the door. My favourite thing was lying in the bath looking out at the hill and the birds on the tree. So relaxing Thank you

  • The Byre is in a lovely quiet green corner of Wales , its a really comfortable place to stay and appreciate the countryside . There are lots of walks all around and once you get out there the scenery is stunning and wholly unspoilt. Our host Lesley made sure we were perfectly happy and even provided home made bread and fresh eggs on our arrival. The converted byre has been done sensitively and is well equipped with all you could wish.

  • Nice clean accommodation with a relaxed environment. Not to much to do near by but definitely worth the trip

  • We stayed at Kestrel for three nights; we were a group of 9 with 5 kids. The accommodation was brand new and fresh. There was lots of space for everyone. The building is set in beautiful country side with a stream running through it; we had a picnic by it and the kids had a wonderful time in it. We had a BBQ and there are dedicated BBQs everywhere. We even had a bonfire one night. Another great feature is the hot tub. The communication was clear and Lucy was available in person to answer our queries. We would recommend the place anytime. Thanks John and Lucy once again.

  • We were given a very warm & friendly welcome by both John & Lucy as soon as we arrived. They explained a few bits to us and then left us to enjoy our break. The accommodation was better than expected with plenty of pots, pans, cutlery, bedding... etc. We had 4 very happy children who loved the space, especially the hot tub! There is a bookshelf in the lobby of the property which is brimming full of tourist info, book & games. Everything worked perfectly with the exception of the internet, which was a bit slow at best, but that wouldn't put me off staying here again or indeed recommending this place to anyone. In summary, a big thumbs up to John & Lucy for such a brilliant place!!

Everything......the cottage is in a very beautiful rural part of Wales. We are surrounded by green fields, hills and mountains. The gorgeous river Dulais flows pass the property and gives access to great walk ways/footpaths.
  • Owners are so friendly and so welcoming. The place is spacious and really clean. The private parking was perfect for us and the area is just a few miles away from what we had to reach. A pleasant experience that we recommend . Look forward to coming back again.

  • Had a really good couple of days using Hafod Bridge Cottage as a base for walking in the Brecon Beacons. The cottage is exactly as described, and spotlessly clean when I arrived. Simon and Marianne were welcoming hosts, but left me be whilst I was there.

  • Hafod Bridge Cottage was the perfect get away for us. We had an extremely warm welcome from Marianne and Simon, the house spotless and had everything we needed for a quiet weekend. • Marianne and her family were wonderful hosts! They were so warm and welcoming on arrival to ourselves and our dog! The descriptions and photos of the cottage were accurate, and the location was perfect for our weekend getaway. It was such a tranquil stay with beautiful scenery and places to go for long walks with the dog. Everyone in the family gave great recommendations as to where to go for outings and we would definitely return for another weekend if we can. Thanks to everyone in the family for making us feel welcome! Corrine, Pete, and Sarge

The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. We were very happy there. It was fun to meet all the pets. We had a car and found the location great for exploring the area and getting to good places for walking.
