The 80-acre (320,000 m2) estate is now part of Natchez National Historical Park and is open to the public by guided tours. The house is furnished for the period just before the Civil War. Melrose was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1974. Melrose Estate is open every day except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. The estate's grounds and gardens are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Guided tours of the Melrose mansion are offered daily at:10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. ”
