Our cottage is on beautiful Shadow Lake and is reminiscent of days gone by when cottages were plain and simple but comfortable, but with modern convinces, a place to go and hide away from the hassle and bustle of the city. We have everything a young family would need for an enjoyable rest and with a few extras. There is a good size deck with table, chairs and umbrella as well as a propane barbeque. The beach is big with a gradual entry shoreline with a sandy bottom
this is a beautiful traditional cottage with all the modern comforts. sit out on the deck looking at the lake or enjoy a swim on one of our floating chairs and enjoy the sun. kids love the beech with plenty of space for them to build sand castles. We have a canoe and kayak for you to use so bring your life jackets so you can go for a paddle on the lake. If you have a boat we have a forty foot dock so you can enjoy it, and the fishing is grear
  • Neil was an extraordinary host! Gracious, kind and supportive when we had a family death. And we got the worst week of a terrible summer so we could only look longingly at the lake as the rain came. The cottage is traditional, cosy and amenities were good. Will definitely consider returning next year!!

  • Such a great week. Neil and Jeremy were fantastic hosts- will most definitely be returning. Cottage has such great character with many amenities.

  • We had an amazing time, our hosts helped us with the best route for travel, greeted us right upon arrival, left us a very nice care package and always checked up on us to make sure we were having a good time and addressed any concerns we had immediately. We had a hard time leaving and wish we could go back sooner! The lake was so clear and clean, we caught rock bass, big mouth bass and lots of sunfish. As soon as you cast you got a nibble. We had a wonderful time on the canoe and kayaks. We highly recommend staying here as the hosts are very hospitable and the area is beautiful.

    Angela2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • From the very beginning Neil was super easy to communicate with. The cottage is very easy to find and can be located on a gps. The cottage itself is larger in person than what pictures present. The beach is fantastic...sandy bottom and perfect for little ones. Great water for swimmers and avid fishers alike. I would absolutely recommend this little piece of heaven.

The perfect escape! Only 2 hours NE of Toronto with over 100 feet of waterfront. This cottage with bunkie has prime swimming and fishing. The water is clean and sandy on a quiet end of Gull River. The cottage is a beautiful, cozy, open concept space with 2 bedrooms and one full bath. The spacious bunkie sleeps 5. Outside: Large fire pit over looking the river. Gorgeous land surrounded by white pine trees. Hammock, BBQ, patio furniture, Muskoka chairs, 2 adult kayaks and 1 kid's kayak.
Over 100 feet of waterfront steps away from the front door. Walk in off of the small dock to 3 feet of water or dive off the large dock to 25 feet of water. Enjoy the upper deck for a meal and lower dock with Muskoka chairs for your morning coffee or evening drinks. The small dock is great for launching a kayak for a peaceful paddle up the river. The large dock is great for fishing, sunbathing, diving and star gazing. The Milky Way is gorgeous at night. You can launch your boat at Elliot Falls and use our floating dock. The river goes into Moore Lake and East Moore Lake. The large, flat grassy area surrounding the cottage is great for kids to play on or a game of Boche ball. Water toys and outdoor games are all in the shed. There is a high chair, changing table and some kid toys for families coming to stay. We will supply the hand towels, dish towels and dish clothes, dish soap, toilet paper and paper towels. You will need to bring your own linens and pillows (unless requested for an additional fee) and bath/swimming towels. Coffee and tea are provided. We have a few other basic spices and things for your use. We will also have a cupboard of our own food we keep for our time here.
We have left a package of different tourist events that are happening in the surrounding area including hiking trails, art shows, etc. Elliot Falls is a 2 min walk. There are small rapids and a swimming hole to play in. Norland is 5 mins away and has a gas station, convenience store, ice cream and Riverside Restaurant that you'll need to have a reservation for. A golf course is 5 mins away as well. Coboconck is 7 mins away with go carting, ice cream, groceries, beer store, LCBO. Minden is 20 mins away - go carting, Kawartha Dairy with yummy ice cream, boat and paddle board rentals. Just north of Minden is where the PanAm games white water rapid events were held called Minden Wild Water Preserve. It's great for hiking and kayaking. Kinmount 20 mins - eclectic movie theatre/museum, farmers market on Saturdays with a train station museum that kids love! Halliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve is an hour away. You can visit the Wolf Centre there or go treetop trekking. The activities are endless and can keep you busy if you want an active holiday.
  • Simple, clean, uncomplicated, everything needed was at hand with pleasant and helpful hosts. This is a place where you can feel comfortable in doing as much or as little as you want. We spent most of our time outside on one of the docks or on the river itself, leaving just enough time for smores around the campfire after dark. Will look forward to our next chance to spend time here and have the confidence to share it with friends.

  • We had an amazing time at Natalie and Janet's cottage. It was very clean and cozy and the location was absolutely perfect to relax and disconnect for a few days. The cottage has a lovely view of the lake which we enjoyed kayaking and paddle-boarding on. The neighbours were very helpful and kind. Overall we had a great time and would love to return some time.

    Mathuraah2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Natalie and Janet's place is cuter than the pictures show and very comfortable. My friends and I felt right at home. The cottage is on the river and was great for paddle boarding and just floating around. It was the perfect place for our girl's weekend away!

  • We had such a great weekend at Pleasantview 2 with 2 couples, a baby and a dog. The cottage is so lovely and had everything you could possibly need for your stay. We visited on a cool September weekend and made good use of the fire pit and wood stove, but still got to enjoy some beautiful sunsets on the private beach. Rob was easy to reach and provided all the info we needed. Would definitely recommend to others!

    Alexandra2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautifully furnished. We loved eating in the dining room with a view of the lake. We relaxed by using the BBQ, fire pit and the boats and canoe provided. Rob and Tara were very communicative and provided us with all the support we needed. Awesome spot!

  • This is the most awesome spot! The cottage is right on the water with amazing windows from the dining room overlooking the lake. The cottage is beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean and with just enough decorative details to make you feel at home. And the most amazing thing is the attention to detail - from the kitchen utensils, condiments and herbs/spices to the cupboard full of toys and games for those rainy days. Oh and for those of you not into looking less than perfect, there is a hair dryer! Every care has been taken to ensure a pleasant stay. The owners are very responsive but leave you to enjoy yourself unless needed.

    Lisa2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our weekend away at Pleasantview Cottage. The lake was beautiful. We enjoyed quite a few swims. The canoe and paddleboat were an extra bonus since we got to explore the lake a little more. The cottage itself is very clean and has everything you would need for a weekend away including a fully equipped kitchen, comfy beds and a large living room. Rob and Tara answered all my questions very quickly and were very accommodating. I will definitely be booking this cottage in the future!

    Sandra2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is my first time using Air Bnb and I couldn't have been happier. Pleasantview was magical, our hosts Rob and Tara had put a great deal of thought into the various items of interest that would be required and needed. A beautiful, clean and well kept cottage with plenty of space. Thank you for such a wonderful time and experience. I would definitely recommend to close friends and Co workers as well as return back again. Cheers!

    Nick2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time using the site and was very happy with the outcome. I had found the perfect place to take my girlfriend away for a surprise birthday weekend and booked it. Robs response was quick and all of our correspondence was great from start to finish. The cottage was just as beautiful as the pictures and all necessary items were there at the cottage for us to use. It was very clean and the wood burning stove made it very comfortable inside. The lot was kept in great condition which made it enjoyable for us to play some lawn games and have a nice evening fire. And our dog absolutely loved it there! We will definitely consider going back up there for another relaxing getaway. We also appreciated Robs flexibility with our check in and check out times, so we didn't feel rushed to leave. From start to finish it was a great experience. Thank you so much Rob!

  • We had a great time at Sue's cottage. It was quiet, clean and had a great view, and exactly what we needed as a quick quiet get away. We enjoyed the screened in porch for meals and the river was great to swim in. The weather wasn't the best but there were plenty of movies and games to keep us entertained. The dogs loved it as well.

    Laura2016-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely property, as advertised, and a true unfussy cottage experience. Sue was a helpful and communicative host. Very cozy and relaxing.

    Mathew2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was exactly as described in the listing. We had no problems getting there or while we were there. It was a perfect spot for a relaxing weekend and we would absolutely book here again!

    Haley2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is as described and suited our needs perfectly. Very easy to get to. There is a big screened in porch to eat in or play cards etc. Nice big area to play soccer, frisbee etc. We did have a water pump issue, but they came and fixed it right away.

    Wendy2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sue is an incredible host; prompt, courteous, and responsive. Upon our arrival, she made it her mission to ensure that we had everything we needed for our weekend sojourn to cottage country . The cottage is true to its description; rustic in the most endearing manner, and literally on the river . You couldn't ask for anything better to accompany your morning coffee than a view of the Gull River from the comfort of the charmingly decorated solarium, or the exposed deck. While present, the neighbours were very kind and respectful of our privacy, making this the perfect getaway for families, and couples alike. In summary, every amenity that Sue lists in the description is absolutely accurate. In many ways, I don't even think words nor photos do it justice. If you are looking for the quintessential cottage experience, you can't go wrong. As mentioned, Sue's warm, caring demeanour and phenomenal communication makes it even easier to recommend the Rustic River Cottage.

    Justin2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful mini-vacation getaway. Sue was available by phone/text if needed. All amenities as listed were available upon arrival and we had a great time. Lots of space and quiet, even when the neighbors were around. The river wasn't busy, but it was nice to see a few people boating on it.

    Bruce2016-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a great stay at Sue's place. It was well equipped with everything we needed and wanted. Sue responded very quickly to any communication. The place was easy to find, right on the river, and very cosy. Quick note: It gets a bit cold at night, there were enough blankets but I would recommend warm clothing as well (we went in August). I would also recommend trying the restaurant in town, Riverside Restaurant and Inn. It's a big black house/inn and the food was really good.

The quiet beauty of exploring cottage life by the water
  • We have stayed at a few spots through Airbnb and this may have been our favourite. Absolutely beautiful cottage in a great location. With the river directly out back we went swimming all day and held stargazing smores-making campfires at night. We canoed down the river both ways; heading south takes you to falls, heading north takes you to a lake. The couches were super cozy and Tony went out of his way to make sure the DVD was working in time for some rainy weather. We saw more blue jays and chipmunks than people, very welcome for a family coming from the city. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks Tony!

  • Great cottage and host! The location is close to a town but still secluded enough so you can enjoy nature. The host, Tony, is nice and welcoming. The cottage came with everything you need and it even has food. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have a nice weekend trip.

    Syed2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Tony's cottage was an absolute dream. The house was built with so much care and detail, from the log railings to the quaint furniture and decor throughout - quite the rustic boutique cottage experience! The water was clean and warm, perfect for our little ones. When you get down to the dock, you will quickly notice this is the nicest cottage on the "block" - apart from the actual house being absolutely stunning there is a diving board, water slide, paddle boat, canoe and host of other water toys plus a small sandy beach. Tony was a great host, friendly and accessible throughout our stay via text for any little questions that we had.

    Heather2016-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience at Tony's cottage was wonderful - it was the perfect fall weekend away! The cottage has everything you could need for an enjoyable stay and Tony was an amazing host. After a short tour, we were on our own to explore the area which is beautiful!!! I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a private location to enjoy good times with friends and nature, we can't wait to come back!

  • Kyle's place was amazing, it was clean, well stocked, and perfectly private. There are no bugs inside the cabin or the enclosed porch, it came with everything listed and more. The stairs are definitely a steep 30 stairs, but he was upfront about that so it was no surprise, also the canoe across is very short. Great fishing from the dock and the canoe - caught some bass, sunfish and walleye. Great Weekend!

  • So private!

    joey2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Totally secluded when in the house, dock on a beautiful river. Mind the walk up the stairs to the house... it's totally worth it. Pack light or expect to make a few trips up the stairs. The hosts were so nice and really helpful. They even left a smores kit and snacks! Awesome place, we couldn't be more pleased and will definitely go back. Miss it so much already !!

  • So private. So scenic. An awesome place for a getaway. Exactly what the description said. Loved it. Buy the most expensive bug spray you can though. I got it from the dollar store and was eaten alive. You're in the woods so it's not a complaint and they were only around for a few hours but they were HUNGRY Host was great though and I loved my stay.

    Adam2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best cottage I have ever rented for an Airbnb! The cottage is well equipped with stereo, screened in porch, BBQ, fire pit, microwave, fridge and stove! Not only that but the beautiful decor went from Tetro vintage to being adorned with different cultures, it was such a good vibe! There is hot water but be mindful of bringing your own clean cold water to use/drink as we ran out a few times and had to grab it from in town - which was no big deal! It was clean of bugs as well, something I was so surprised at considering the cottage is well into the woods. It was so cozy, really felt like a home to us. Remember to pack bug spray! The cottage is located at atop a hill nestled into the woods. Please note that it IS a vertical climb/hike up. There are some stairs that are so steep, it wouldn't be a cottage to rent for families with older generations coming with them or anyone with a disability, including vertigo. Upon the steep height you will be greeted with such a treat as it truly is one of the best stays I've ever had, you won't stop taking pictures and you won't wanna leave! Thanks again guys!

  • Kyle's cottage is the ideal getaway for anyone looking for a quiet and secluded weekend away. It's a bit of a walk up from the river dock, but once you're at the cottage you'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Kyle and his fiancé were incredibly kind- they even left us a box of s'mores and banana bread upon arrival! I would 100% come back - remember to bring bug spray!

    Lisa2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle was a very helpful host, he provided us with everything we needed and left us some s'mores and banana bread upon arrival! (Thanks Kyle!). I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and scenic place to stay. The cottage is located deep within the woods just up from the docking area. The place was very clean and had everything you might have forgot to pack. Will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to anyone that wants to have a relaxing and fun weekend. Thanks again to Kyle who waited for us to arrive past the agreed upon time due to traffic. Cheers!

Charming cedar loft cottage with an updated modern interior. Located just over a 2 hour drive from Toronto and under 10 kilometres from the cozy Kawartha Lakes community of Coboconk. Local amenities include a full service grocery store, liquor store, beer store, hardware store, pharmacy, marina and local bakeries, restaurants, and antique market. During the summer weekends there is a farmer's stand in town with local seasonal fruit and vegetables.
The main cottage includes three bedrooms and five beds. Additional space is available in the bunkie building which includes a set of bunkbeds and a double pull-out couch.
Kawartha Lakes is known as "cottage country" and boasts many accessible attractions that provide visitors with a variety of day-trip options. Examples include hiking in the Haliburtons; experiencing the Trent-Severn waterway and water locks in nearby Fenelon Falls; boat shows and shopping in Muskoka plus the local's favorite: a trip to Bobcaygeon and the Kawartha Lakes Dairy for ice cream.
  • Spent a week with our family of four (including two kids under 14). It was a great family vacation. Kids spent a ton of time in the water on the paddle boats, tubing and hunting frogs. Docks had plenty of room for Muskoka chairs for long afternoons reading in the sun. Bar fridge by the boat house was a nice touch! The cottage was comfy and clean. Had everything we needed. Lisa had even downloaded movies for us since there's no cable. Steve and Lisa and their dog Archie were great hosts. Very helpful and accommodating. Looking forward to a return trip next year (the kids are already asking!)

  • Lisa and Steve were great hosts. The cottage was lovely and nice that it was on the water. The cottage also was well stocked and had everything we needed. Steve and Lisa were also great providing tips and suggestions on activities to do. It was nice having them close by for any questions we had. The location was great, it was only a 5 minute drive into the main area of town. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend the cottage!

    Brescia2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect cottage. Great waterfront access, huge split-level deck, everything you need. Would gladly return.

    Sean2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a place to rent with friends or family. It was great value. The lake was very clear and great to swim in. Lisa &Steve were great host!

    Kowshika2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time at Steve and Lisa's cottage. The place was clean and spacious. The waterfront and dock was great too. Neighbours are close by but it was still quite quiet. Thanks for your hospitality Steve!

    Ashley2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Steve & Lisa were fantastic hosts, and their place is beautiful - and everything you want in your cottage getaway: on the water with sun on the docks all day long with a beautiful sunset, activities (e.g. river tubing) with some peace & quiet. Thank you!

    Brit2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Steve and Lisa's cottage. A little close to the neighbours if you are really looking for privacy and the river was very difficult to swim in which was a dissapointment as my kids love to swim and they could not do tha. The place was clean and close to groceries, lcbo etc.

    Charming Cedar Cottage

My whimsical & quaint cottage is 5klm from town which hosts a Foodland, LCBO, Pub, ice cream window and Home Hardware. I love my cottage because of the gardens, the chandeliers, the purple doors and the glorious clean water! The cottage itself is 800sq.ft. of cuteness & the property is 100 x200sqft. Canoeing, kayaking, paddleboating, bbqing, swimming, fishing, snorkeling and river floating are daily activities. Kids can also swing, play, dream, design, zipline, and build in the tree fort area.
The space is an original 1950's cottage that my grandparents built in 1955. I have turned it into an amazing whimsical, artistic, spiritual place to be. It is truly one of a kind. Always a work in progress........ There's a private bridge that takes you to the sweetest little island for sunbathing and reading. Inside, the cottage is fully equipped with everything you will need. I will leave a clean bottom sheets, pillows, duvets, quilts and blankets for you to put your own bedsheets over please (as there's no laundry room) If you can't, we can make special arrangements for a small extra fee. Please bring your own drinking water, food, beach towels, and toiletries. Salt/pepper, spices, cooking basics, tea towels, dishware, stainless cutlery, etc, are all there. Please note, the 1st bedroom hosts a unique original double bunkbed (as shown in photo)....not 2 side by side beds. The 2nd bedroom hosts a comfy double bed. There is 1 double sofa bed in the veranda, 1 double 'click down' sofa bed in the family room, as well as a regular couch in the family room. 4 - 7 people is most comfortably as a suggestion for a quiet getaway. 8-10 is full. 11 or more and we'll need to pitch tents, and/or blow up mattresses. :) The water is extremely clean and the snorkeling is excellent. Gull River is on the Canadian Shield. There is tons to look at under water. I suggest bringing a snorkel, mask and flippers. I usually golf cart guests up the road, for a lovely float down the river on floaties or for an exciting snorkel. The property and river are both child friendly. I grew up in these waters. You can still see the sunken logs from the logging/milling days from 100 yrs ago. You will love it so much!!!!
Canada's smallest jail is in town. Dunk's Junk Antique Market. The Pattie House Pub. Kirkfield Boat Lift Lock. Fenelon Falls Boat Locks.
  • Cottage super sympa. We really enjoyed the cottage. This quiet place is perfect to spend time with friends and family. Located close to a river, it was nice to canoe and swim.

    Daniel2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very cute cottage. There are many unique touches and the property has the feeling that it's from a fantasy novel. Steph (our host) drove us up the river in a golf cart, so we could take a tube ride back down to the cottage. Super fun!

    Suzanne2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stephanie was a great host. She was there when we arrived and showed us the lay of the land. The house was quaint and maintained. During the day we connected with Stephanie for fire wood to have a fire and to help heat the house. Overall a good stay!

    Tim2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Magical spot by the river, perfect for a romantic weekend getaway, will definitely be back. Steph is a wonderful host and communicated promptly. Thanks!!

    Gregory2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The area is beautiful and the canoe/kayaks provided were a great touch for our group of friends to explore the river. Host is right by the house - convenient but not the most private. Have to bring your own sheets, and be careful with the number of guests - any over 4 and it's 50$ per extra person - very steep!

    Wendy2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage has little touches everywhere. Thoughtful and quirky. Shelves and nooks to put your things. Mismatched lamps and chandeliers. The screen room with the big dining table was perfect for playing chess and watching the river. Everyone we met was delightful- the young boys who played with my dog , stephannies family. Her father was even so kind to take care of our dog one afternoon when we had to attend family functions elsewhere. The river is crystal clear and was really moving with current. Lots of people floating down the water and having a blast. The smell of fires and people's laughter complete the scene. Communication was great as we were running behind arriving and leaving and we were made more than welcome by Stephannie. The cottage is cottagy enough to not feel bad about being a bit wet or dirty but so very clean and well kept at the same time. They really care.

    Tracy2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this cottage for three nights, and loved every minute of it! Between the main property and the island connected by a wood foot bridge, it was easy to disappear into your very own quiet space. Adirondack chairs, small table and chair sets, a hammock chair, loungers and a patio set provided many different places to enjoy a peaceful morning coffee or read a book.  The cottage property provides good privacy, surrounded by many trees, and rests atop a small hill overlooking the water. Just beautiful. I love Stephannie's creative decorating style, inside and out.  Not an hour seemed to pass before I would notice another lovely art piece or subtly placed object adding a whimsical touch here and there.  The cottage inside had a vey relaxed, cozy homey feel to it. Outdoors reminded me camping, but much more peaceful! Sitting out at night you can hear the occasional distant loon or faraway coyotes calling. I must note, that despite the very natural setting, we found there to be less mosquitoes than in our city backyard. Still a good idea to bring some bug repellent as it a cottage in a natural setting, but overall we were pleasantly suprised to be able to spend so much time, almost all of our time, outdoors without being harrassed by them. We really loved the fire pit, and appreciate the wood that was provided. We spent every night, for hours, enjoying this. A canoe, a small kayak and a peddleboat were available for our use. We canoed upriver to the lake. I recommend if you do this, you eat your Wheaties that morning! Hubby and I found it to be a challenging workout to get there against the current. We did it though. :-) The cottage was very well equipped, and very clean, top to bottom. It is clear the pride Stephannie holds for her property. Her care and attention to detail were apparent. Stephannie was a very pleasant host, kindly showed us around on arrival and told us everything we needed to know. She then gave us privacy and stayed off the property until checkout time.  However, she remained completley available at all times by text or by phone, in the event we had any questions. We would absolutely love to stay here again in the future! We were sad to leave.

    Sandra2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay, we had a lot of things to do: canoeing, kayaking, bbq'ing, you name it. Would stay again!

  • The listing description matched perfectly with how our experience went. Michael went above and beyond expectations to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We chose to stay in Ontario for our honeymoon - but while we stayed at Michael's cottage it seamed as though we were on our own private resort with a water front view, hot tub, total privacy, canoe and paddle boat at our dispose and awesome hiking trails right across the street. We would recommend staying at this cottage to anyone who needs to get away from the city and have their own private resort. Excellent Job Michael - We look forward to our next visit

  • The cottage was super clean and inviting. We were quite happy. Recommendations and notes about the area were helpful

    rachel2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's chalet was absolutely beautiful, very clean and fully equipped ! We really appreciated the canoes, hot tub and (massive!) BBQ grill. The kitchen was particularly spacious and super convenient to cook for a large group. The bathroom was very nicely designed with a spa-like shower and marble on the walls. Rooms were nice too, although we can hear noise from one room to another because of the space between the sliding doors. Limited privacy but that's ok. Linens and towels were plentiful. Just one note: Coming from France we were not expecting all the mosquitoes (!!). Good thing there was a nearby supermarket to buy some mosquito repellent Overall we had a fantastic stay...what a wonderful getaway!

  • A nice spot with some modern conveniences, like a quiet dishwasher and nice fridge in a newish kitchen. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and the firepit. The interior space was just right for our family's needs. Lots of seating area for board games on rainy days, and a large dining table. Waterfront was nice with a dock in good shape and steps down into the water. The exterior of the cottage could benefit from a bit of a freshening, to make it as charming as the interior. Michael was a great host. Would recommend this property to any family looking for good value and convenience for the important stuff.

  • Micheals cottage is perfect! Absolutely beautiful view in the backyard

    Julie2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The trip was great again. From the upgraded shower inside to the riverfront property where a canoe or paddle boat awaits. From the chilly nights in the hot tub or campfire by the water underneath the stars there was lots to do righr on the property. Badminton was fun as were horeshoes both provided by the host. 2 fridges for food was a nice perk and the mood controlled lights in all the rooms was a very nice touch. Very cozy, private & welcoming, I would recommend this cottage to almost all. We look forward to a trip up in the winter where we look forward to a small hike in Queen Elizabeth wildlands Prov park that's located all but across the street.

This cottage is comfortable and yet still gives you the beauty of being on the lake. Sunsets are amazing! BBQ on the deck, sit back, relax and enjoy. Or come during the winter! Skiing (nearby), skating, dog sledding, there's lots to enjoy year round! We love this place and hope you do too! Large living/dining room and large kitchen are perfect for the whole family, or just yours! Bedrooms are all comfortable and set up to accommodate up to 2 families, or families with teens! Bathroom has a nice soaker tub and lots of space. The lake is fantastic. Clear and warm. Easy shallow entry, perfect for kids. Lots of grass for playing games. We have sun in the mornings and shade in the afternoons. Horseshoe pits, trampoline, basketball, climbing dome, tetherball court, badminton...why go inside? Nice large firepit facing the lake. Air conditioning for those hot summer nights!
Easy access to the cottage from the highway. Nice walking road for morning walks. Great neighbours and friendly lake. Town of Norland is 5 minutes away for little things. Minden is 15 minutes away with shops, restaurants, hospital, bowling alley. Go Kart track only 5 minutes away.
  • We were two families travelling with babies. It was nice having two stories so that the babies wouldn't wake each other up at night. The basement is one large room and there is a half washroom on that level. The view from the cottage is breathtaking and it has all the modern conveniences to make your stay comfortable. This is an ideal cottage for families with children as there are many activities (indoor and outdoor) to keep them busy. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • Doug and Noa's property is lovely.... It was well landscaped and many updates have been made...and it's on the water! This is definitely a cottage for families- which was perfect for us. The owners were also very responsive to any inquiries we had. A gem!

    Carrie2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location. Very very clean cottage. Our hosts have thought of everything that you could need. Great fishing off the dock, fantastic swimming in the lake and warm fires at night. My family and I will definitely be back next year. Noa and Douglas are very gracious hosts. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cottage with us. Cheers.

  • Amazing stay! 5* plenty of things to do indoor and outdoor. We were 2 families with 3 children aged 3-6 and after 1 week didn't have enough time to try out everything there was to do. It was clear that Doug & Noa put a lot of effort into making us feel at home and have a nice stay. Only but is that 1 bath (although 2 bathrooms) for 7 people needed some management to get us all showered.

We are on Head Lake nestled in the heart of Ontario's cottage country. Our lake is well know for its fishing and is wonderful to canoe around and kayak.
  • If I could give 6 stars out of 5, I would. Janet and Frank have created the most beautiful home and we felt honoured to be welcomed. The whole house is beautiful and the level that we slept on was tastefully decorated (like magazine worthy!). You do have your own private entrance if you choose and it opens up into the a living room with kitchen quarters. Janet and Frank make the most delicious breakfast (again, food magazine worthy!). The house is immaculate and the property will make you want to stay longer! We were only in for 1 night so we could not enjoy the outside fire pit or swim in the lake but we did make use of the clean ad secluded hot tub under the stars. This property is top notch and a perfect getaway for a couple or two who are looking to sit back, relax and unwind. Thank you so much.

    jodi & bart2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • My wife & I stayed 2 nights and it was so relaxing. Janet & Frank were amazing hosts. Their beautiful home was perfectly situated next to head lake, which made for a great view, great fishing, easy access to the lake, and lovely star gazing at night. They provided a canoe which we used almost every morning and evening. Their home is meticulously kept, so welcoming, everything is cottage modern, and really well designed. They have a super friendly cat, Toby, that greeted us at random times outside :) Breakfasts were out of this world delicious, and like the other reviewer, they were magazine/(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)-worthy, to say the least. Frank & Janet made sure we had wood each night and they even prepared the camp fire when we got back from canoeing. They were amazing company and hosts, and we loved every minute of our stay. The only regret was not being able to stay longer!

    Linden2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about our stay at Janet's B&B! Janet and Frank's lake home is incredibly beautiful, spacious and spotless. I wish I could replicate everything about the decor and view! Janet thought of every little detail to make our stay perfect and extra special...even making us a fire. And the breakfast was absolutely divine! We hope to be back soon!

    Jen2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful weekend! We were two couples spending our first weekend at cottage country. Hosts were accommodating, warm, and helpful. The place was very peaceful, scenic, but no need to travel far to restaurants and convenience stores. We would definitely return.

    Thomas2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Janet and Frank were fabulous hosts and their home (as were they) was very warm and welcoming. Our only regret was that we were only there for one night! Breakfast was superb and could easily rival a swanky hotel. We used their canoe and paddle board and after dinner in the local town, had a quick dip in the jacuzzi under the stars. The stars were mesmerising and sitting by the camp fire we were transfixed until the early hours. The early morning swim was surprisingly warm and overall this Airbnb was exactly what we imagined and hoped for when we were told about cottage country. We wouldn't think twice about booking in again.

    Edward2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • If there was a definition for AirBnB, this would be it. Upscale, hotel-like comfort in the heart of Kawartha Cottage country. The amenities were as advertised; well appointed rooms and living space (a suite actually). Beautiful decor. Fresh flowers in the bedrooms. In-floor heating. Janet is a fantastic chef; her delicious breakfasts magazine worthy. She didn't miss a thing! The outside space was picture worthy. We did take advantage of the availability of the canoe, SUP, the lake, hot tub and evening fires even though the weather tried to not co-operate. Janet had great suggestions for dinner at local eateries (she has dined at them) and daytime excursions. If there was one reason to take advantage of this listing it would be the host. I was a little wary of using AirBnB as a resource for a weekend getaway in cottage county--not anymore.

Crystal clear water on this lake with wonderful fishing, water is calm for water activities. In Winter, ice fishing on the lake, snowmobile trails as well as cross country skiing trail. Many things to do in surrounding towns, Coboconk, Fenelon Falls, Bobcaygeon, and Kinmount.

Thanks again for letting us stay, Paul!

  • Myself and 7 of my closest girlfriends rented this cottage for a girls weekend. This being my first Airbnb experience, I wasn't sure what to expect. Paul did a great job at putting me at ease with how easy he was to reach and how quick he was to answer any questions I had. When we arrived everything went smoothly, and the place looked exactly like the photos. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped, everything was spotless and the binder with details about the area, how to access stuff, and what needed to be done at the end of the weekend kept everything simple. Would highly recommend this place.

    Megan2016-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Paul’s cottage photos do the place justice, beautiful and tidy. I was surprised to see how well equipped the kitchen was, a wide array of condiments in the fridge and every type of pots/pans and appliances you can think of. Paul was very quick at responding to my messages and very helpful throughout the whole process. I would very much recommend his services and his cottage. Thank you Paul for a wonderful stay, looking forward to booking a weekend in the summer!

    Valentina2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Paul is fantastic host! He made us feel comfortable, was always reachable and never once was demanding. He even helped us find decent hiking trails to explore in the middle of winter near the cottage, which was above and beyond what we had signed up for. The house is amazing - gorgeous views, comfortable, clean, spacious, and secluded enough where surrounding noises don't interfere at all. We have everything we needed to cook food and clean up afterwards. It's a great house for a group of friends or family. The deck towards the lake is definitely a highlight. Lots of space to stretch your legs, get a great view of the sunrise or sunset.

  • Julian was easy to communicate with and responded to my questions quickly. There were A LOT of stairs, someone else mentioned this in another comment and I didn’t really pay attention but we certainly got our exercise, especially when unpacking and packing up the cars! The house could use a cleanup, we found it to be quite dusty and the windows were filthy. Now we were on vacation and this type of thing wouldn’t normally bother us but it was a real distraction to the beautiful scenic view. The house was in the sun (not shaded) and got quite hot, unfortunately most of the windows did not have screens so we couldn’t open them. We were told that we could not leave any garbage or recycling, however upon arrival we noticed that the last guests left garbage behind and I felt we needed to get rid of it as to not be blamed. As a family of swimmers we were disappointed with the lake (but very thankful for the warning to bring & wear water shoes). The water was extremely shallow and very rocky, and where it did get deep there was too much algae to swim. There was also no dock, it was very short and not at all what was shown in the pictures. Lastly, there was ZERO lawn/green space! We wanted to play badminton and lawn bowling and there was nowhere to do this… The fire pit was on a complete slope so sitting around the fire at night was not an option. Overall the house was well stocked with kitchen supplies, a comfortable couch (which pulled out – would not recommend sleeping on it though unless you like sleeping on springs alone).

  • Wonderful location! Easy to get to, the water and surrounding trees were beautiful. There are A LOT of stairs. Steep stairs. The cottage is basically built into the side of a rock. Which is pretty neat but logistically interesting. I would be extremely nervous with toddlers/children. I was even worried about my dog on them. The water is rocky but crystal clear. Wear water shoes and you will be fine. The fire pit was a nice feature at night. We found some local trails and did some hiking (even after climbing the stairs!). The nearest town is 6 min away and has all the amenities you need (foodland, LCBO/beer store, restaurants etc) You get the sunrise over the tree line in the morning and the moon rising at night. Ok now the bad news. We didn't expect perfection, as it is a cottage. However, the basic expectation (especially when you are paying for it) is that its clean and everything works. This wasn't totally the case. The stove didn't work 100%. The outside of the cottage had a layer of bugs on it. Dust on and under the furniture. Hand prints on the tv. Basically it could have used a good cleaning inside and out. The beds were a bit rough, the one bed you were sleeping on wood slats covered by a very thin mattress and the pull out couch was basically a mattress full of springs. Again, not expecting perfection but a little more effort into guest comfort. Overall we had a great time in this beautiful spot.

  • We had a fun week at the cottage. The new deck was very nice, as was the sunroom! We were disappointed with the dock and that there was not a floating dock as shown in one of the pictures. I appreciated Julian touching base with me before our arrival to review some final details.

    Kevin2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Home away from home! Had a wonderful stay in this spacious cozy cottage. Eight of us had plenty of room with a large dining area for eating evening meals and a huge couch for watching movies! Everything you need to cook with is provided, even some spices, sugar etc. Plenty of outdoor relaxing space that always has some shady areas throughout the day and a screened porch from the mosquitos at night. The lake is beautiful, clean and quiet. The sunrises were just phenomenal! There are many stairs as noted on the listing but we just called it our daily exercise when we went to walk the dogs in nearby trails. The cottage was easy to find with clear instructions from the Julian! A lovely escape.

  • It was a clean, well kept, space both out doors and indoors. The owners put time into ensuring that their guests feel comfortable.

  • Cassandra's cottage was wonderful and conveniently located on the lake and close enough to town. We spent labour day weekend here and unfortunately the bunky was a little cold in the evening, so everyone ended up sleeping in the house with one person on the couch. (two adults upstairs, two adults downstairs (1 in day bed, 1 on couch). The cottage is clean and has everything you would need for the weekend. Budget friendly , has lovely landscaping and a nice dock. Thank you Cassandra

  • It's a beautiful cottage right on the lake. They have a very nice canoe that we took out on an adventure around the lake every morning while the water was calm.( bring your own life jackets). The cottage itself was really nice, lots of trees for shade and lots of open sun for tanning. The dock was nice because you can run off it into the water but I do recommend water shoes as the bottom is covered in tree branches. It would be really nice for two couples or a family with kids as it has a nice cabin separate from the cottage closer to the water. My only complaint was that there was no a/c so sleeping was hot and uncomfortable. But other than that, I would recommend it and would consider renting it again.

  • We had an amazing time up as Cassandra's cottage. It's perfectly located with friendly neighbors and beautiful scenery. Cosey and clean, with a lovely sense of home, this cottage will prove to make your trip and great one. As a host, Cassandra was very helpful and informative and will be contacting her for our next trip too.

  • Friends of Marina's stayed at this listing and this is their review: The listing was exactly as posted. Experience was amazing. Property and surrounding area was beautiful. The town was very nice. I would definitely recommend this place. PS. Be careful of the steps.

  • Short walk to stores with basic necessities covered. Lovely lovely view; bunkie is adorable. Washer & dryer is a nice added touch for longer stay. Thank-you Cassandra.

  • Cassandra's cottage is a charming cottage with beautiful landscaping on a calm wide river that feels more like a lake. We enjoyed the beautiful sunrises over the river and the cute community that the cottage is located in. This cottage has great privacy and a large beautiful lot on the water. The river is quiet warm and clear for swimming. We also spend a day at Balsam Lake provincial park to do a beach day, which is about a 5 min drive away. There is a Foodland, LCBO, playground and a couple restaurants all within walking distance. Thanks for a great stay!

We are the only sandy beach shore on the lake which is great for small children. While the lake is at first shallow it gets deep quickly past the floating dock. One canoe and 2 kayaks are included in the rental for exploring the lake and connected water systems. From our lake you have access to a vast area of little discovered, connected lakes in the Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands. There is a new floating dock which is very nice for getting into the water and for star gazing. You can enjoy our 120 foot patch of beach or pack a lunch and paddle through to additional lakes then hike into the Queen Elizabeth II park. We are 10 minutes from the little town of Norland which is on the Gull River and just 15 mins south of Minden where you'll found a charming small town main street, lovely river walk, a traditional butcher, well stocked grocery and hardware stores and epic Kawartha Lakes ice cream. You are 30 minutes from Haliburton for quaint shops, spas, restaurants and shopping. The famous Kinmount movie theatre and museum is 20 minutes away. From here you have access to the Ganaraska Trails as well as access to the Minden White Water Reserve for organized kayaking and rafting adventures. For the best hiking trails nearby search "Scrabble Mountain" in Moore Falls, accessible within a 4 minute drive from the cottage. For experienced Trippers, the Queen Elizabeth II park can be accessed from the lake. The park is 33,505 hectares in size and is one of the largest and least developed natural areas south of Algonquin Park. The park has a low rolling topography which is characterized by numerous rock ridges, including scenic cliffs and gorges, separating dozens of small lakes, rivers and streams. This vast area was once covered with forest and deeper soils prior to the logging era. The area is great for motorcycle enthusiasts with some of Ontario's greatest motorcycle roads and dirt bike trails in the Ganaraska to explore. Search "EatSleepRIDE" for the best motorcycle roads nearby.
  • Cottage spacieux et très accueillant. Très bien situé sur le lac avec une vue magnifique, une pelouse agréable et un bon accès à l'eau. Excellent holiday spot. Great for a family - barbecue, canoe, kayak, ping pong table, badminton, board games, etc. NIce deck and sunny living room with a beautiful view of the lake. Owner very welcoming and helpful. No negative aspects - would love to go back!

  • The cottage is even more amazing than ever. The dock is such a great addition. We were out there most of the time enjoying the water. The loons and ducks were regular visitors. And the projector was also put to good use. We loved having family time at Roost Cottage. Thank you again for hosting us Marina.

  • We really enjoyed our time at this cottage. It was a very spacious cottage and everything worked well. The sand entrance to the water was great for my grandchildren. The view from the dock was beautiful. Lots of grassy area for the kids to play. The kitchen was very large and well stocked. It was a bonus to have a canoe, kayak and paddles available so we didn't have to bring our own. Thanks Marina for being such a good host.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Roost Trail. Marina was a great host and helped us in whatever way she could/ The cottage is clean, beautiful and spacious inside and outside. The kids had room to play soccer outside and we enjoyed using the kayaks. Thank you Marina.

  • We had a wonderful time at Marina´s cottage. The pictures capture the cottage, lake and surroundings quite nicely. The cottage is extremely well kept and everything is in working order as described. If the weather had not been as nice as it was, we would have had some more time to enjoy the vast video and game collection that was available to us. The property is beautiful and the cottage has everything one could wish for. Fishing was good on the lake near the falls as well as in the neighbouring lake which is already in the parklands. The paddle over to this lake is a nice short trip through a little creek. The only two (very slight) drawbacks were the traffic on Hwy 35, that can be heard from the cottage. Further we encountered some rather reckless power boat drivers who seem to find it funny to come as close as possible to someone in a canoe who then has to deal with the wake. (This was only an issue on Saturday as during the week there was hardly any boat traffic on the lake). Also, communication with Marina was excellent, she responded promptly and with all information that we needed. Again, we would love to come back in the future.

    Clemens2014-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • There were 8 of us. 4 adults and 4 kids. It was the perfect size and was great for kids. Marina made us very comfortable. Only caveat is that the highway can be heard from the property, but you stop noticing it really quickly.

  • Pictures do not do this property justice. The property exceeded all my expectations and the layout was beautiful. Everything you could possibly think of was provided in the cottage and the trails on the property are amazing. Jeremy was the perfect host outlined where everything was in the cottage, provided a list of all the nearby stores, and was easy to contact and helpful from the start. Will definitely be booking this property and other of Jeremy's properties in the future. Thanks again

  • We LOVED Jeremy's cottage!!!!!!!! It was even better than expected! It is truly a family compound that brings people together! Everything about the cottage, land, guest house, view, dock and lake are amazing! And the beds are super comfy too! The kitchen has everything you need, and the outdoor BBQ is fun and makes the food taste delicious! The dining-room was a pleasure to have meals at, as the view is so lovely! It was great to have access to a canoe and paddle-boat. The swimming was good too! The water is very deep right off the dock. Jeremy is very easy to communicate with; he responds right away. I highly recommend this Air B n B! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Jeremy's cottage and hope to go back next year!!!!

Beautifully set in the heart of the Kawarthas on 4 Mile Lake. Ready for you to escape the city and relax. Less than 2 hours from Toronto! Fish, kayak, sunbathe, swim, read a book or do nothing in the serenity of cottage country. Clear flat rock bottom waterfront and lots of private spaces to relax. You can choose the large dock over the water, or the grassy sunny area beside the dock, or the boathouse deck over the water or the big deck with some tree cover to hide from the sun.
Welcome to Holywood Cottage & Boathouse, a charming (and rustic) waterfront cottage at 4 mile lake in the heart of the Kawarthas. We searched for years to find the perfect cottage ON the water on a beautiful clear lake. This is a cozy, family-friendly retreat where you can enjoy sitting on the dock, watching gorgeous sunsets, casting for bass or swimming in the clear freshwater lake. There are 2 buildings. The boathouse is over the water and has a full kitchen living room with 2 couches and 1 bedroom. It has a spectacular deck over the water with sliding doors to go out onto. Great for entertaining. The other building has a bathroom and 4 bedrooms. The cottage sleeps 6. Master bedroom is a king size bed. 2 bedrooms are queen size and there is a double bed and 3 singles. The kitchen is completely stocked for entertainment with a dining room table that can be extended to seat 12. The bathroom has a stand up shower but we do try to conserve water as we have a holding tank. There's lots of lounging outdoor space. There's a BBQ for cooking great meals. Everything is at your disposal. Feel free to use the kayaks and stand up paddleboard. Ensure you wear life jackets. STOP PRESS! BRAND NEW ICE-MAKER FRIDGE IN BOATHOUSE. Second drinks fridge in cottage The boat and seadoo are not for guest use. We are seasonal from May through to end of October.
We are close to the towns of Fenelon Falls and Coboconk. Lots of shopping for supplies at both locations about 10 minute drive away. Fenelon Falls has the historical Trent Severn lock with many antique stores and museums. Not to mention great coffee and restaurants by the lock. Coboconk has a great ice cream store with Kawartha dairy. And there's a great pub called the Patty House. Good food and cold beer.
  • I went to the cottage with my husband, two other couples and our dogs. We had a fun weekend with the dogs swimming while we enjoyed the sun, kayak and paddle board. The cottage is definitely "glamping" as Ray described to me and with the water restrictions I would not recommend more than 6 people. Overall a great weekend getaway from the city!

    Erin2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Ray and Christine have an amazing place to share. They were really honest about the place and the fact that this is a cottage, feels like a cottage should feel like and it's not a 5 stars hotel. The deck space is amazing and the whole place feels like home away from home. We want to go back! Thank you for an amazing stay!

    Yvon2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Ray's description of the cottage is very accurate, with one small exception that will only matter to a minority of guests--the canoe wasn't in good shape and was missing one seat. The location is lovely; Four Mile Lake is very nice. My son and I did some fishing and he caught a pike that was at least 2-feet in length. The cottage is also very close to Coboconk (5 minute drive), which has pretty much everything you need or might have forgotten. This shouldn't be much as the cottage is very well-equipped. Ray is very clear about the need to be careful about limiting your use of water, so if this bothers you, this is probably not the place for you. That said, the water heater is very good so you don't have to run a lot of water before it gets hot. This makes taking a quick shower much easier than you might expect. Otherwise, the BBQ worked really well (I started thinking about buying a new one for myself when I got home) and if you want to have a campfire the setup is very good and (at least when we were there) there's lots of wood so you don't have to worry about buying anything. We didn't speak to Ray much on the phone because we didn't really have any problems. When we did though he was very friendly and helpful. So, in short, Ray is very frank about the pros and cons of this cottage. If you like what you read, you'll like what you get.

    Barbara L2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Serenity peaceful relax privacy great view....what else can you ask for! This cottage is great for family fun and reconnecting with our kids was priceless. Thanks Ray!

  • We enjoyed lovely Lake Balsam! We enjoyed the main floor of the cottage which was open concept and allowed some of us to play games at the table while others could sit close by and read. We loved the bay window with a breathtaking view of the lake. We were disappointed with some of the amenities: the kitchen was not very well-stocked e.g. one pot lid for 4 or 5 different pots; not enough cutlery for 8 people although this was what was stated. The beds were not accurately represented with respect to size so while we were expecting 2 Kings and 2 Queens, the reality was 4 Double beds which made for some uncomfortable sleeping arrangements. There were coverlets/duvets on the beds but these really needed a thorough cleaning. We brought our own sheets but this was not clear until I specifically asked. The 3 bedrooms upstairs were lovely and 2 offered a water view. There was lots of hot water available as well as a washer and dryer which was very convenient. The bedrooms on the lower level were quite small and dark and one had no bureau and very few hangers in the closet. There were 2 kitchens, one upstairs and one down. The downstairs one had a dishwasher. There was a fair bit of going back and forth but on the whole it was okay. Things like teatowels/dishcloths/potholders were extremely limited and we ended up buying our own because what was there was not clean. There were no hand soap dispensers in the bathrooms although one did have hand sanitizer. These were small things but would have added a great deal to the convenience and overall cleanliness. We didn't meet our host but he left clear instructions on how to let ourselves in and prior to our arrival, the communication was prompt. The bottom line: more thorough cleaning and attention to details would have gone a long way to making our stay more enjoyable.

  • Our host was very friendly and welcoming. He waited to welcome us at check in, but unfortunately we arrived a little later than expected and missed him. But he did follow up with a phone call and advised that he was reachable if we needed anything. My family and I spent the week at this beautiful cottage and loved every minute of it. The neighbours were really friendly. The water was fantastic; not too cold and even quite warm at times. The views from the cottage are beautiful especially in the main room on the top floor. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Great location, close to Coboconk for groceries, beer, a couple of resteraunts, Marina. We had a pair of loons show up one morning 20 feet from shore. All said, the entire family had a great time.

  • Stayed at this cottage with my two brothers and our parents to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Mateus was a gracious host who left a bottle of champagne! A welcome touch. He was also very communicative and responsive in the days leading up to the rental. This cottage is a gem for the value, it's quite big, two stories with two full kitchens, which was really great for our family of 5 adults as we could all have our own bedrooms and not be breathing down eachother's necks. Though the basement is a bit musty and one of the basement bedrooms had no door. The dock is perfect and the lake is heavenly, not too deep, great swimming and boating. On the weekend it was buzzing with boats and activity, and during the week it became very quiet and tranquil. Having looked at a lot of cottages we are really happy we chose this one, its relative proximity to the GTA and spaciousness made it very accessible for our family but it was still very much a true lake / cottage lifestyle experience.

RyBell Retreat or this "little piece of heaven" as multiple renters have referred to it as, has 3 bedrooms and a pull out couch bed. RyBell is available for year round rentals just 2.5 hours northeast of Toronto. This cottage is great for a couples get away as well as families (with kids). The lake is a beautiful clear blue/green colour (being a limestone based lake). You will fall in love with RyBell Retreat and want to come year after year. Please note - RyBell does NOT have Wifi.
RyBell Retreat has plenty of space for your guests to enjoy. As an extra welcome, RyBell will have a jug of drinking water for you in the water cooler making it easier for you to come with less hassles. All you need to pack is your bedding/towels, clothes and your food and you are good to go!
  • Had a wonderful relaxing weekend away from the busy city. The cottage was the perfect size for our group of 7 adults and very cozy. The views were beautiful and we enjoyed spending time outside exploring. Made some delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen.

  • Hello everyone, This is my first Air B&B review, so I apologise if I don't get all the formalities correct! The cottage is MUCH bigger than it appears in the pictures. It is very comfortable and easily accessible. Kimberley is exceptionally quick to respond to all my messages, and was very accommodating for me and my group. Aside from the fact that (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps says the cottage is 900m from the last turn instead of 3KM, my only comment would be that I didnt understand that the neighbouring cottages were so close. There are three adjacent cottages within sight, which are within 200 feet of this cottage. Otherwise, i truly can't say enough good things about this place. The beds are all comfortable, the kitchen is extremely well equipped, the sun-room is exquisite, and the lake is clear enough to make you want to swim all day long. Have a great trip!

  • Comfortable home, perfect for rainy weekends. Works well for large families.

  • Kimberley was incredible prompt and helpful our entire stay. If we needed her she was there quick (like when we couldn't get the fireplace working). The cottage has everything you need for a group in terms of kitchen supplies. There have been many cottages that don't have enough or any of the normal supplies so this was greatly appreciated! The cottage was super clean, beds were very comfortable ( had a memory foam), even the pull out I was told was comfy! To our surprise there were 2 showers including a nice soaker tub and a sauna room! Kimberley has thought of everything; towels, soap and even a hair dryer were all accessible. We were rained in for most of the weekend and we're still occupied by board games, movies and conversation. Once the rain did stop we were able to go out onto the lake with the canoe (generous size). There is also a paddle boat supplied but we didn't get to it this time. A couple key things to consider when renting is this cottage is very close to neighbour's and it's not really private or secluded (not a big deal but for some it could be a deal breaker). Also, the fire pit is in the front yard, no view of the water from there. Again, not a big deal something we noticed was a bit different than previous cottages visited. Thank you again Kimberley for a wonderful weekend, we very much enjoyed our time.

  • Exactly like described, and Jason was very accommodating and made sure our group had everything we needed! This cottage is situated on a beautiful waterfront and close to a town with a Food Land, hardware store, and other essentials. It was also clean on arrival and I would definitely come back and strongly recommend others to stay here. Great place, host, and memories for our group on the Civic holiday weekend.

  • Jay was an awesome host and very responsive to all of our needs. The property was actually much nicer than we had expected. The house was quite large and the kids had a blast playing in the water; which had a private doc with a perfect view of the entire lake. BBQ, firewood, lovely views, great host, everything was just perfect. Exactly the kind of relaxation we all needed. I will DEFINITELY rent Jay's place again!
