Point of Interest
“Fantastic easy cycling/walking for young and old..... The Granite Way is an 11 mile cycle and walkway running between Okehampton and Lydford along the north western edge of Dartmoor. It is mostly traffic free, largely following the course of the former Southern Region railway line. ... For example, close to the Okehampton end of the route is Meldon Quarry.”

“Take the children for a short train journey and a walk. There is talk of reintroducing a service from this station to Exeter, expected before the end of the year I believe. There are also some Moorland buses which can take you across the moors to Ashburton another lovely town with a wealth of small interesting shops. Theres a wonderful restaurant called 'The Library', the talented young chef who owns it has won awards, but its good for just breakfast or brunch too.”

Village
“Situated on the northern edge of Dartmoor, Okehampton is a traditional market town known as one of the walking centres of Devon. With superb access to Dartmoor, direct from the town or via the surrounding villages like Belstone, it is great for (dog) walking, cycling, shopping, eating, drinking and more. www.visitokehampton.co.uk ”
