  • This is a really beautiful house, it was a privilege to be able to stay in it. We were a group of friends from a cookery club - the kitchen was very well equipped - the aga took a bit of getting used to! There was lots of communal space, beautiful gardens, and all the bedrooms have comfortable beds (some rooms are quite tiny). The house is full of light, and the cinema great fun. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, and would love to come again!

  • Fabulous! Highly recommended. I just returned from hosting a 3 day business team meeting for 7 people at The Copse. The house is beautifully presented - well furnished and spotlessly clean. Full of character and lots of flexible living space that could accommodate a family with different age groups to hang out in their own area. The Cinema is amazing! Hot-tub under the dark night sky was great. Good wifi connection. We had an Ocado delivery on the first day and cooked all our own meals on the Aga - except for lunch on the last day when we used the nearby pub which served great food. Lovely hosts - I have nothing but good things to say.

  • Penny was almost instantly responsive to every question in the lead up to our trip. Upon arrival we got a detailed tour of the property and shown how everything worked. Then, we were left to enjoy the home for the weekend. It's beautiful. I'd say it's more impressive in person than the pictures show. Thoughtfully decorated in all aspects. The hot tub was a real treat. I would definitely stay here again.

  • The house is beautiful and feels very welcoming, open and warm. The situation of the house is set back into woodland, and is both green and totally private. We had a great stay and the hosts were both helpful and lovely. Would highly recommend.

  • The house was, believe it or not, even more beautiful in real life than in the pictures, and the location was perfect; a rural idyll that was easy to get to. My daughter's hen party went like a dream, with the hot tub and cinema room being particular highlights. The girls had a wonderfully relaxing time in the luxurious surroundings. They made full use of the delightful grounds, as they were blessed with perfect weather, but the house would have been just as lovely if it had chucked it down with rain. Catering for the party of 10 was easy, as the kitchen was spacious, well designed and fantastically well equipped. Penny was a joy to deal with in the run up to our letting and Tim was incredibly welcoming and helpful when he settled us in.

  • The house was absolutely lovely and everyone had a fantastic time so thank you very much. We got spoilt with the weather and were able to make the most of it amongst the wonderful gardens. There was plenty of space for the children to play and more than enough seating areas all around the garden to relax and enjoy the surroundings, as well as the amazing hot tub which was perfectly located. The cinema and arctic cabins were lovely features but given the amazing weather we didn’t get chance to make the most of them (we’ll have to come back in the winter!). The layout of the house was perfect for us and the decor / furnishing inside the house was superb.

    Nicholas2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for the weekend for a hen do and the house was perfect. The bride to be keeps referring to the house and weekend as a fairy tale experience. Penny the owner was amazing and very helpful. Definitely worth five stars!

Bed and continental breakfast in one of our three double bedrooms in Peppard Common, 10 minutes drive from the centre of Henley-on-Thames. In the Chilterns (a region of outstanding natural beauty): great for walking and mountain biking, with access to the River Thames (where the Henley Royal Regatta takes place) and with an excellent choice of top country pubs. 20 min from Reading (with a half-hourly bus service). Approximately 40 min from Heathrow Airport and under an hour from London.
We have three double bedrooms, one en-suite and two with a shared large bathroom (see other listings) in our family home, close to Henley-on-Thames. We are within walking distance of three local pubs and close to spectacular countryside.
  • Sue and her husband are the perfect hosts. The house is beautiful and you can see red kites (beautiful birds of prey) circling her garden which was an added bonus to see some wonderful nature. Her house smelt amazing and breakfast was filling, fresh and yummy. If I were to go back to Henely I would most certainly stay there again. Thank you for a warm welcoming and stay. Gabs and Nina x

    nina2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • She was a fantastic host. Communication was excellent and she went out of her way to send me lists of local taxi companies we could use to return from a wedding we were at. Sue allowed us to check in early so we could arrive at the wedding on time which was a great help. Her house is immaculate. The bed ridiculously comfy and the breakfast absolutely wonderful. Thank you Sue and Ian!

  • We had the most fabulous time staying with Sue and Ian in their beautiful family Home for Phillip's birthday surprise. Perfectly clean, exquisitely decorated and divine garden. Not to mention the homemade banana cake on arrival and huge spread of delicious treats for breakfast! We have already recommended to all our friends and we will definitely be back! Thank you so much

    Michelle2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a most pleasant and enjoyable stay at Sue's lovely home. It was perfect for our days at Henley Regatta. Sue shared her great local knowledge, from where to dine to where to put our canoe in the river. We can highly recommend a stay at Peppard Common.

    Yuli2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Ian are lovely. They were very helpful all the time. Their home is beautiful and the breakfast was amazing!

  • Sue's home is beautiful and she is a fantastic host - we had an incredible time at the Henley Regatta. Sue even went out of her way to drop us in town - so helpful and made our stay even more special. The most comfortable bed and lovely home, not to the mention the delicious breakfast! Please can we come back and stay soon! A perfect place to stay to enjoy the Regatta (or beautiful Henley all year round). We felt very much at home and looked after, thank you again :)

  • This cottage is extremely well-appointed, comfortable, and well-designed. Tom and his family are delightful folks -- friendly and helpful. Tom explains the workings of the cottage really well, so it's easy to feel right at home quickly. I'd love to stay again.

  • We had a lovely two-night stay in the lodge. This small but cleverly designed space has absolutely everything you need to feel at home. We were greeted by owner Tracey, who showed us around and spoilt us with a fresh loaf of (delicious) homemade bread - a very nice touch! Both Chris & Tracey were very accommodating, allowing us to come and go as we pleased. We would definitely stay again!

    Annie2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time we have stayed at Tom's place and it was just as good as the first time. The apartment is immaculate, with everything you could need. It is a such a quiet and relaxing place to be and you won't be disappointed. We will definitely be staying again!

    Suzanne2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous, spacious, extremely well-appointed place, incredible attention to detail! The space is the light and spacious top half of a barn-sized modern building, finished to an extremely high standard. The hosts provided all sorts of things, including lots of tasty breakfast treats, and the kitchen was very well equipped. It’s a nice ~30 min walk from some good pubs. It’s also close to national cycle route 5, in case you like that sort of thing. Sadly we didn’t get to meet Billy the cat. Everything else was perfect!

    Sophie2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Lodge was beautifully furnished with excellent facilities and some very high tech. additions. The provisions supplied were greatly received to make our stay so pleasurable and easy. Chris and Tracey were very welcoming and relaxed, I wish them every success and hope to return there myself sometime soon.

  • A fantastic spot away from it all. This was perfect for some quiet woodland walks. We'd recommend sorting out food before hand, though breakfast was lovely and there are some pubs and restaurants if you have a car. Perfect spot for clear sky star gazing too. Tracey and Chris are wonderful hosts!

Heathrow airport is 40 minutes by taxi or bus from Reading Station, which is five miles away. The rail links from Reading are superb for the West Country Wales Midlands and Scotland.
  • I visited Little Orchard Cottage with a friend of mine and our respective 3 year old daughters for a weekend away. Everything was spotlessly clean and high spec (similar to a good quality hotel). Our hosts were very welcoming and we found plenty to do during our brief stay (recommend the maze at the Herb Garden for a brief free activity). The play area on the grounds of the property was a major boon. Very pleased :)

    Jef2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very well appointed cottage, great attention to detail. Little extras such as great selection of teas, fresh coffee, eggs, toiletries. Beds very comfortable with white cotton sheets and duvets, plenty of towels. Relaxing lounge overlooking the garden. Sue and Jon were great hosts and made us very welcome.

    Louise2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at this Airbnb. The host was friendly and very communicative and was flexible when we needed to delay our arrival time to late at night. The accommodation was clean and tidy and a continental breakfast was thoughtfully provided. We were travelling with our three children and it was a lovely touch to have some children's toys provided. Our stay was only brief, but I would happily book here again.

    Kieran2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here with our three children as a base for our trip to Legoland. The accommodation was excellent, clean, well located and had all the touches that made our stay so easy with the children. Such a comfortable bed too! Our hosts were very attentive making sure we had all we needed and explaining the local area to us, including the the best routes to take. Would definitely recommend this place to others. Thank you!

  • This is a conversion to an old stable which has been undertaken to a high standard. the property was a little hard to find, however once there it is very nice. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The property a set out corridor style so you do access the lounge through a bedroom, but not an issue for a family. Sue's welcome was very warm and helpful. Didn't use the pool as it was a bit cold, but in general this is a very nice property with great hosts!

The Bungalow is close to Henley on Thames which is a 15 minute drive and equal distance from Reading. We also have a great pub opposite called the Reformation, a lovely children’s play area and great country walks too. We are 5 minute drive to Sonning common, which has everything you will need. It is a beautiful location with lovely outdoor space and it is also quiet. The Bungalow is next door to the owner’s house. We have large field to give you a nice feeling of being in the countryside.
The bungalow is in an idyllic spot for bike rides, walking and great pubs. The bungalow is newly refurbished with all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. We have a driveway with access for parking and a field safe for dogs and children to run around in. We have a travel cot and high chair available on request. Also there is a television inthe sitting room ready for use.
The reformation pub run by the landlords Sam and Richard is very welcoming and direclty opposite the house. They produce great food and the pub has a family garden with a pirate boat ready for children. The pubs surronding the area are generally very good and an easy walk to get too. There are many national trust sites nearby including greyscourt and Basildon park. Goring on Thames is 10 mins drive which is a beautiful river village where George Michael lived. Sonning is also 15 mins drive where George Clooney lives where you will find great restaurants and nice river walks.

  • Very good value and perfect for what we needed which was somewhere to stay for 1 night for a wedding nearby. Hatty and Toby had thoughtfully put milk in the fridge and left some croissants out. I would just say that although effort has been made to make the bungalow feel private it is right next to the main house of which you can see into. This wasn't a problem for us but worth noting.

    Clare2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice place with all the essentials. We only stayed one night to travel to Warner Bros studios but found the place had everything we needed for a short stay. Check in was easy and both Hatty and Toby were very friendly and welcoming

    Corinne2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely clean and well equipped place in an absolutely beautiful location. Very friendly and welcoming hosts, we really enjoyed our stay.

    Scott2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • As the first guests at Hillside bungalow, we can only express how lovely our stay was. We were greeted by Hatty who was very welcoming and understood our needs very well. The place itself is very spacious and having two children of 5 and 2, had a very big back garden to keep them busy. It was well equipped to cater for all our needs. We used the place as a base to visit Stonehenge and London and it worked from that aspect as well. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

  • Chrissie has a lovely house and is a very friendly and accommodating host! :)

    Ingram2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Chrissie was fantastically accommodating. We came up for the Regatta and Chrissie's place was a perfect distance away, allowing us a short journey in the morning at a very affordable price. Chrissie also kindly let us store our booze in her fridge. As this is an honest review, our only criticism is at the general standard of cleanliness like the bathroom and cobwebs, etc. All in all, however, a fantastic host and we'd highly recommend her hospitality.

    Fergus2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Chrissie made us very welcome, and we had a lovely chat over coffee. Fantastic meal at The Greyhound in evening - easy walking distance. And a plentiful continental breakfast provided by Chrissie in the morning. Twin room comfortably spacious for two and bathroom with shower (for sole use) right next door. Very convenient in quiet street in village location.

    Lilian2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Chrissie is so friendly and the home is beautiful. Safe off street parking, comfortable bed, new modern private bathroom, wonderful linens. I was surprised by what a nice spread she had for breakfast in her lovely conservatory.

This lovely cottage is nestled in a serene wooded valley within the Chilterns area of outstanding natural beauty. It is the perfect place to watch the autumn leaves fall whilst warming yourself in front of the kitchen Aga or a roaring fire in the Inglenook fireplace. The surrounding woodland is home to a herd of roe deer and is criss-crossed with footpaths. One leads up the hill to The Rising Sun, an excellent pub. The Cherry Tree Inn, The Greyhound and The Crooked Billet are also nearby.
This historic cottage is believed to originally date from 1604. There are original beams throughout as well as a large feature fireplace. The cottage and its beautiful half acre gardens face South East so that the enveloping York stone patio forms a giant suntrap. There is a small unheated conservatory for sunny autumn days. There are three bedrooms - a master bedroom with a double bed, a second bedroom with twin beds, and a third small bedroom with a single bed and a desk. In the living room there is a sofa bed, which can sleep a further two people. There are two bathrooms: One upstairs adjacent to the master bedroom with a bath and toilet and one downstairs with a shower and toilet. There is a dining room, a kitchen with Aga and a utility room with a freezer, washer and drier. There is a well stocked games cupboard and finally, upstairs, leading off the master bedroom is a study with a desk and a very small library.
The cottage is very serene and quiet, and is located close to the village of Stoke Row which has a village green, a quaint chapel and the Stoke Row Stores, where you can get a full cooked breakfast as well as basic supplies. There is a resident pheasant who visits the property every morning, as well as roe deer and muntjac deer. There are outstanding walking, bridle, and cycle paths right out the front door! Should you fancy a hack, riding stables are nearby which we can recommend. There are five lovely country pubs within walking distance: The Cherry Tree Inn and the critically acclaimed Crooked Billet in Stoke Row (Paul Clerehugh), The Unicorn and The Greyhound (Anthony Worral-Thompson) in Peppard and The Rising Sun at the top of Witheridge Hill. A little further afield is The Black Horse in Checkendon for fine beer and ales.
  • The Old Place is a an idyllic old cottage that is a perfect venue to spend a weekend with friends - very cosy living room with fire and original features. It's only a short walk from an excellent pub and the garden and surrounding woodland make it feel remote. A good house for a family gatherings, but not huge and like many old houses, the walls are thin - so make sure you're all close! Leanne was a fantastic host and even though we didn't get to meet her, she was very communicative and helpful.

    Rita2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Old Place is such a beautiful place to stay. It's only a couple of minutes drive away from all the amenities that Henley has to offer but secluded enough for it to feel very peaceful, away from the bustling town. We were lucky with the weather and it meant we could spend some time in the beautiful garden that became an amazing sun trap. The house itself was lovely and warm and cosy, especially as they lit the AGA especially for us on arrival. It's a very spacious house with everything you'd need in terms of facilities and kitchenware etc so that you don't need to pack the kitchen sink when you leave home! Thanks for such a wonderful stay and being lovely hosts xx

  • A beautifully situated cottage; peaceful an dsurrounded by beech woods. theer are many fine walks to be enjoyed just from the front door without using a car and also a couple of good pubs - The Rising Sun about a quarter of a mile away is particularly recommended. The house is lovingly cared for and is as described and in the pictures. Very clean and with lots of welcoming touches. It has a nice atmosphere to it and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend.

  • We just returned from a blissful weekend in this charming cottage. We were met there by Michael, who was incredibly nice and helpful, showed us around and gave us all kinds of useful tips. We ate in the beautiful garden and our 5 year old son loved kicking a ball around on the huge lawn. Great location if you want to escape London (less than an hour's drive from West London) and loads of lovely country walks and picture perfect country pubs on your doorstep. This is not the place for style seekers (the decor is somewhat dated) but it's spotlessly clean and very cosy and we loved our stay.

    Sally2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing welcome for the host family. Great stay. Super relaxing and forest nearby to walk.

  • Beautiful location and garden in the classic english style. The house was spotlessly clean, well laid out and organised for guests. The Rising Sun and the Crooked billet pubs are worth a visit for a quiet drink. Beautiful countryside for short walks. Highly recommended for family stay.

    David2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful time at The Old Place! We were here with our 4 children (age 9, 6, 3 and 1/2 year) and they had such a great time in the house and the garden and in the surrounding woods. The road on the one side of the garden is dangerous for small children but the property is completely surrounded by a fence and even our 3 year old rascal didn't feel the urge to get outside of the "fairy-garden". Right behind the carport starts a quiet path into the forest. We really enjoyed walking there. All amenities our family needed were provided. Even some toys for the kids. We only brought a crib for the baby. Milo and Leanne also have a manual at hand so if there were any queries we were able to look into the manual and find everything we needed. The kids (and we) had a great time watching the wild animals on the property. Our daughter even researched everything concerning pheasants on the provided laptop. On the laptop were also some guides to things to do in the area. Maps were also here for us to use (we didn't though). Due to my husband being ill (ear infection) we stayed more at the Old Place than planned. We didn't get to see a lot of sights around here (except for one trip to beautiful Henley and walks in the forest) but really appreciated the amenities of the house and garden. Milo offered us to pick some rhubarb which we loved to eat. Our easter egg hunt in the garden was also well loved and set in a beautiful surrounding. We would absolutely recommend The Old Place for everyone trying to escape a hectic everyday life. If your children can follow rules you just have to explain to them not to open the gate and run towards the street and very few other precautions and you are good to spend a relaxing family time here! We all would love to come again! Thanks again Milo and Leanne (who we didn't meet but communicated with).

  • This was exactly what we were looking for - quiet, comfortable and just plain lovely. It was just right for our little family. Tess and Guy were so welcoming and accommodating. We definitely felt like we were in good hands. We would certainly recommend! Thank you Tess and Guy!

  • Tess and Guy were great hosts, making us feel very welcome- we visited on Valentine's weekend and they had even put a few lovely themed touches on the place! The self-contained barn was very true to the pictures, so no worries there. It had everything that you would need for a getaway, making our stay very comfortable. It is just a 10 minute drive from Henley and we visited Windsor which was just 40 minutes away. In all we had a fab stay, only wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you!

    James2015-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay at The Woodman - it's an autonomously located space above a barn, just opposite Guy & Tess' home, handily off a road going through the village and looking out to a field at the back. The space was clean and airy (three skylights in the roof overlooking the house and double doors that open to overlook a field). Not that we used it much, but there was a kitchenette with microwave and fridge and the bathroom was located downstairs. Jenny, the very friendly housekeeper greeted us on arrival and made us feel so welcome, offering local tips such as taxis and the plethora of fantastic local places to eat in nearby villages. Seeing the beautiful the kites (birds) flying around in the morning was an added bonus - as was the gift of a marrow in the morning. The Woodman barn provided perfect accommodation for a summer weekend's countryside escape.

  • Wonderful place to stay with very friendly hosts. The apartment had everything we needed and we recommend it for anyone!

  • Exactly as described. Although we didn't get to investigate the surrounding area due to a short stay the area was very nice and the woodlands nearby the property were absolutely beautiful. Excellent hosts, gave us everything we needed for a fantastic stay. Would definitely stay again and would certainly recommend for others.

  • Tess and Guy were absolutely wonderful! And so was their cottage. It was such a tranquil, comfortable space and after travelling and being transient, it was the perfect space to rest and recover. Quintessential English countryside with lovely English hosts!

    Kara2014-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay for a few more nights. Guy was most helpful and we were supplied with all the information we needed - we were even given a bottle of milk on our arrival which was a bonus! A great place to stay. As we stayed on a busy Saturday evening we should really have asked Guy beforehand to recommend restaurant/pubs nearby and pre booked so would strongly advise everyone to do the same so as not to be disappointed.

    Stuart2015-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • The best host you could ever have, very friendly , even gave us a lift to town, great location, not too far from the town, lovely house with lovely decor, felt very homely and relaxed!!!! We had the best time ever, thanks to Tess and Guy!we will definitely go back some day,!Would recommend to everyone.xx

A refaire l'an prochain !

  • My partner and I stayed for a week and we couldn't have asked for more. Lauren is a wonderful host and nothing was too much trouble. While we had a car, which I would recommend if you're looking to explore further afield, we did see a number of bus stops nearby, along with a supermarket and eateries around a 10 minute walk away. There is also the very welcoming Butchers Arms next door that does great food and drinks. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing break away in a lovely part of the country, this makes an excellent place to stay.

  • My husband and I stayed here for one night recently. I had planned a surprise meal for him at Orwells Restaurant just a short taxi ride away so it was a great location for an overnight stay. Lauren was very helpful in the days leading up to it, recommending taxi companies, providing information on check-in etc. The bedroom and en-suite bathroom were perfect for our needs - clean, tidy, private, cosy, very well equipped - great value for money. As Lauren was away, sadly we didn't get to meet her. However, we did meet Jason who was friendly and welcoming. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and will happily return if in the area or dining at Orwells again. Thanks to Lauren, Jason & family.

  • Peter’s place is wonderful for a little break in the quiet countryside. The lodge is well equipped for everything you need; cooking a full meal is not a problem and the pubs nearby serve great food too (the maltsters in particular!) Peter left some great walk suggestions which we managed to do 3 of them with no problem following the directions. It was a very thoughtful touch and took us off the beaten track (and into some great pubs). We had a great stay, Peter and Isabel are lovely, thoughtful hosts and we’ll definitely be back soon!

  • Great place to stay, spacious self contained lodge in a lovely area. Very relaxing, set in beautiful countyside within a stones throw of Henley. Also only 30 minutes from Heathrow and very convenient for trips to London. Peter and Isobel were perfect hosts, they were extremely friendly and helpful including by providing me local information to ensure a pleasant stay and they even put some milk in the fridge for my arrival. Could not have asked for more, I wholeheartedly recommend this destination to anyone seeking to get away from it all while still wishing to be close enough to jump straight back in whenever you want. I would definitely stay there again myself.

  • This was undoubtedly the best Airbnb experience I've had to date in the four years I've been travelling with Airbnb. The photos that are posted, although beautiful, don'd do the flat justice. The garden of Joanna's house is truly beautiful and you get great views from all of the windows in the flat. Joanna has added a number of great touches from freshly cut flowers, ironed John Lewis bedding and towels, great bedside lights, black out blinds in the bedroom even to providing bread, milk and fresh orange juice. We loved our stay and cannot recommend the flat and Joanna's hosting highly enough. If you're anywhere near this area, you should stay here - don't even think of staying anywhere else!

  • A very comfortable and very well equipped garden flat in a beautiful property. Joanna was very welcoming, gave us easy to understand directions and, because we were arriving after dark, left plenty of lights on for us. The flat is upstairs with a comfortable bedroom and ensuite ( good shower too) plus a roomy sitting/eating/kitchen area. A good kitchen too, with everything you could want. Even under cover car parking! Nicely heated on cool evenings, within walking distance of a good village pub and a store/ deli. Quiet location and an easy 30 to 40 minute drive from Heathrow. Highly recommended!

  • This was a perfect place for our stay near to Henley visiting family and friends in the area. It's easy to get into Reading and Henley but has a wonderful rural feel too. Quality of fittings used in the appartment are superb and we would recommend this appartment to anyone who wants to come and see this part of Berkshire. Mike & Val couldn't do enough for us, and having a separate entrance to their main house meant we didn't disturb them (well, I hope not!) as we came and went.

High security with electric gates to the driveway- very comfortable five star well equipped apartment for two persons. Stayed for Henley Regatta. Very convenient location 15 minutes from Henley on Thames. Mike and Val were most welcoming and had provided everything we needed (including croissants for our first breakfast). We came and went as we pleased as there is a separate entrance to the apartment away from the house. Quiet environment (need a car). Would stay there again and would recommend to anyone.

The room is light, airy and well maintained. We prefer to let rooms to professional males working away from home. The house is quiet and set in lovely surroundings. We supply a help yourself breakfast, to include cereals, croissant, preserves, tea, coffee and juice. We are situated approx 3 miles from Reading and 5 miles from Henley on Thames. There is private parking for a car, sorry no vans. There is a regular bus service to Reading and shops close by.
The property is situated on the edge of Sonning Common Village....The room overlooks a large rear garden and countryside beyond...
Lovely quiet neighbourhood, good choice of local shops. The house is situated only a few minutes walk away from the surrounding countryside, ideal for walkers. Henley is a 12 minute drive, for shopping, riverside and walking.

This is a light and spacious double bedroom, with all that you need for a comfortable stay. There is a large modern bathroom, which is shared with one of the other bedrooms – perfect if you are coming as part of a family group.
  • Lovely couple, beautiful house and location. Breakfast - wow! Hope to visit again.

  • We stayed at Duncan and Anita’s place for 5 days in April 2016. What a great experience for my family (my wife and infant twins)!! About the People: When we arrived Duncan greeted us warmly and showed us around. Anita came by to say hello and brought us a map of the area and pointed out points of interest. They were very respectful of our privacy but were available for anything we needed. They had coffee/tea and croissants /cereal for us on arrival. Anita popped by and asked if we needed anything from Tesco(URL HIDDEN) About the flat: loft style independent house. very clean and bright. everything you need inside and plenty of space for us and our twins. Duncan is expanding the internet reach this week which will make this place absolutely perfect(URL HIDDEN)About the area: Beautiful country background with lots of walking trails (nice after long London days), walking distance to 3 pubs (3 - 10 min), walk to bus (5min) which is a 20 min ride to Reading station for London Paddington or Waterloo

    Farid2016-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • I rented this property to solve my accommodation problem when I had a 6-week research contract in Reading, and needed a base I could afford. It's an hour by bike from the university, but that was about the same as taking the bus plus the walk at the other end, so I ended up cycling one way and bussing the other. The property worked fine for one person, was adequate when my husband visited, and was OK when my teenage daughter visited overnight once too. I would not recommend it (in space terms) for a long stay with a couple or small family, but it's perfect for one person, for a week for a couple, and for a family weekend with a small child. Duncan responded to emails and texts very quickly, and he and Anita were always available when I need to ask something. The house is very comfortable, and the kitchen is well-equipped though there is no food storage space other than the work surfaces or the very large fridge/freezer. The sitting area outside now has a smart fence so feels very private. It's a lovely area, with good food shops a few minutes cycle away. Henley is a good place to spend time, and Wallingford is beautiful. Greys Court is fantastic. My favourite things were the red kites floating overhead looking for their dinner; the stars; the quiet; cycling through country lanes to get to Reading for work.

    Kate2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent over night stay close by to Henley and very quiet and peaceful location in the country side. The annex itself was very comfortable and well equipped kitchenette, lounge, bedroom and bathroom. A very enjoyable stay and great communication by the host Duncan.

Beautiful house in the oxfordshire countryside 5 minutes from Henley on Thames and 40 minutes from London by road faster by train. Lots of space and ideal for a family get away. Large garden. 4 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Often used as a location for photo shoots and filming Strictly no parties or extra persons on the property than agreed. 4 double bedrooms
Stylish property with a real family feel,7 minutes from Henley Town centre and close enough to pop into London for the day and explore. Large spacious house with lots of social space an great garden.
  • From start to finish Lynne was nothing but the perfect host. Given that this was more than just me staying, we had 6 people for a company off site, there was quite a bit more info to manage and stuff to arrange. Not only was Lynne super efficient, she was also fun to deal with. Nothing seemed to be too much hassle. She even disappeared on the day i arrived to go get some logs for the fire. We had a tremendous time at Lynne's home. The pictures do it justice. The garden is massive - the local area fantastic for exploration. Super comfy in more ways than one - five gold stars & 10/10. Thank you Lynne. Sam and the MSS International team. x

    Sam2016-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage and stunningly well presented. Lynne was very helpful in providing clear and helpful directions beforehand together with some suggestions on the local area. And a really friendly cat! Would highly recommend

    Richard2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here the night before my wedding and it was the most perfect venue for myself and my bridesmaids and parents to relax before the big day. Lynne's home is absolutely beautiful and spacious, and her communication beforehand was excellent. I would definitely recommend this property to groups looking to enjoy some time in Henley and the beautiful Chilterns.

    April2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne was a good (and hilarious!) host - always really helpful and replied instantly for any questions and concerns I had. She was also very flexible with the check out time which was a luxury as we could have a lazy Sunday morning. The cottage is very cosy for a group of friends as theres many commons spaces to spend time together and the really large garden was a treat as well! The only downside was that there were a few things that were precariously placed around the cottage, and more than average number of rules to remember so I didn't feel like I could relax a 100%.

    Karishma2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic weekend at Lynne’s house. Everything we needed was supplied and the space had a lovely cosy feel which perfectly met our expectations. We love Tulip. She needs her own Instagram account. Too cute! Would definitely recommend Lynne’s house.

    Michelle2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful day and night in Lynne's beautiful house. It looked exactly like the photos, very stylish and spacious and perfect for our girly weekend. The house was easy to find and within driving distance of some really nice local pubs. Lynne was very helpful, providing lots of information before our stay and answering all of our questions. Highly recommended!

Get away from it all to a very quiet home on a private estate with a beautiful garden and great outdoor space, switch off, relax. Modern 4 bed bungalow with open plan kitchen, lounge, dining area which can seat around 10, the lounge can host 12 seated. Pub 2 min walk. Fabulous local walks, biking, riding. Henley 4 miles, £10 in cab. Beautiful private south facing garden, sunbeds, parasols, tables and chairs. Netflix, sky, freeview, wi fi.
Great space for groups due to large open plan living space, safe for children, great for elderly, disabled. Very quiet for people who want to relax and switch off.
Private estate in an area of stunning beauty and great walks, biking. Walking distance of the Unicorn pub and also Antony Worrall Thomsons Greyhound pub, both do food.
  • We would like to give a huge thanks to a fantastic host, Justine was absolutely wonderful, she could not have been more helpful following our rather late booking, then experiencing problems with the airbnb app itself resulting in a huge headache for Justine let alone for us. After an eventful booking which wasn't confirmed until we had landed at Heathrow (an hour before we wanted to move in) tired and with 2 noisy children, we were met at the house by Justine, who gave us a lovely tour of her home and shows us where everything was. We had a great week in Henley and would love to go back sometime in the future.

    Sam2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Justine welcomed us to her home which was beautiful, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The large spacious kitchen had ever possible utensil required even extra large pans which were very useful as we were helping with preparing food for our sons wedding reception! We didn't really use it but the conservatory and garden would be the ideal place to relax with a glass of something chilled! The house is within easy walking distance of the Unicorn pub which we visited twice, excellent food and a warm friendly welcome. We would definitely stay in this lovely home again and would highly recommend it.

Beautiful house set in the quiet village of Stoke Row, within walking distance of the famous Crooked Billet Pub. The house has lots of space for parking, a gorgeous garden to relax in and a clean and spacious bedroom for a relaxing nights' sleep. The house is also perfectly placed for a trip into Henley or if you are visiting Henley Royal Regatta. Stoke Row is approximately 6 miles from Henley. There are more rooms available if you have a large group - get in touch and ask for more details.
This beautiful house is set back off the road, so if peaceful all the time - the only thing that may wake you are the birds or church bells. It is within walking distance of two great pubs and hundreds of footpaths leading away from the village, allowing you to explore The Chilterns by foot. There is a friendly cafe and shop in the village for perfect afternoon tea, and if you want more hussle and bussle you can head into the market towns of Henley or Wallingford, just 6 miles away.

  • Joy's place is absolutely beautiful!! Amazing landscape, we ride our bikes from Reading to there and we enjoyed a lot the peaceful bike track. Joy was a excellent host with us, she made a delicious breakfast that we enjoyed with her nice garden views and her sweet cat, unfortunately we couldn't spend more time with her because we have left the house early morning. We highly recommend her as a host, quite environment to have a good rest but you can also find closed to her home are two lovely restaurants to have some drink and food. Thank you for everything Joy.

  • Too good to be true A beautiful cottage in the heartland of miles of wild woodland, hidden behind beautiful gates. Ally and Andy were wonderful hosts The house was very warm and welcoming, lovely furnishings, beautiful scenery. Private and cosy. Lovely little dog Pippa who follows you for miles and miles on end. Very friendly horses.

    Ed2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is really cute and comfortable, but the sourrounding grounds and setting and the swimming/play suit is incredible. The whole experience is really relaxing and healing but (selfishly) I don't want to brag in case it gets too popular! The hosts make it also, my partner and I hope to return many times.

    Baharak2016-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ally made us feel very welcome, even though we arrived in the evening fairly late. We really hope to visit again (hopefully in the summer so we can enjoy more of the beautiful surroundings without the need for gloves)! Highlights of our trip were definitely walks in the grounds with Pippa (it took everything not to bring her home with us) and having a game of pool in the evening by the swimming pool with our music playing on the speakers. The cottage is perfect if you're wanting a little retreat from city life like my boyfriend and I were. Everything was clean and tidy and we appreciated the provision of basics after a long day of travelling.

Beautiful 3 bedroom cottage in quiet countryside well away from roads, with stunning views over the Chilterns. Splendid large garden and lots of parking. Ideal for local walks, Henley (10min drive) and day visits to London, Windsor, Oxford etc
Nearly all rooms enjoy a fantastic view. The house is newly refurbished to high modern standards but with plenty of genuine period features.
The quiet beautiful Chiltern setting makes this a special place to stay, relax and walk. Access is up a single track lane. Henley, the local town, is lovely with its river, shops and top restaurants.
  • Maggie's house is a lovely destination for some peace away from city. The house is well furnished with everything you need for a weekend break from London. We only had one night here and could have stayed longer.

  • We had a great time at Maggie's cottage! The location is perfect to explore the Chilterns Hill and do nice walks, and the house is just beautiful, cozy and perfect for a relaxing holiday. The cottage has got everything you need and more, plus Maggie was a helpful, kind and extremely flexible host: she picked us up at the train station and gave us a lift to the cottage, she recommended a few good restaurants, things to do in the area, and bought fresh fruit and flowers for us. We couldn't ask for more and hopw to go back soon! Thank you Maggie for the great stay and all your help.

    Claudia2014-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We would highly recommend a stay at Maggie's house, which was in a fantastic location with lovely country views. The kids loved looking for the cows in the neighbouring field and we even saw deer in the nearby woods, yet it is only a short drive from Henley. The house was lovely and even nicer than the photos, and we really appreciated how well stocked the fridge and cupboard was and how Maggie kindly offered for us to help ourselves to anything. We had everything we needed for a great stay. Thank you.

Located in the middle of the countryside, a spacious new build. Great for a short break away from it all! Please see last picture for proximity of house to annexe.

Miller de Mansfield, Goring on Thames, Rossini au Leatherne Bottel, Goring on Thames, Le Waterfront Cafe, Benson, Le Highwayman, Exlade Street, et de nombreux autres endroits.
  • Beautiful, peaceful setting in the middle of lovely woodland. The huge window gives you a beautiful view of the natural surroundings and paired with a wood burning fire, it makes it a very relaxing place to getaway from it all. George and his family live next door and are extremely friendly, making you feel so welcome. Great pubs and restaurants a short drive away, probably a good idea to book ahead.

    Juliette2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • George is a nice guy and made sure there is some bread, eggs and milk in the fridge when we arrived. The place itself is a lovely little house, next to the house where George lives. • Everything in this property is of the highest standard. It is located right next to the family home in the middle of the countryside. However, you are very much given your own space. It is conveniently located to visit all of the surrounding area (Oxford,Henley, the Cotswolds etc). There are also some great pubs within 10-15 mins drive. There is also a log burner which is a great plus. There isn't a shower so if u stay for a long time you will need to have baths. This didn't matter to us as we were just there for 2 nights.

    Chiara2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and peaceful place to stay and very high end spec finish to property. Would recommend if you would like peace and quiet in beautiful surrounding countryside.

    Tom2017-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • We were very impressed with this little gem. It has a modern feel, lets in lots of natural sun with the privacy of shades, a magnificent wood burner, oh so fluffy carpet in the upstairs bedroom/ensuite and stocked with the basics. Wi-Fi is solid downstairs but a few drop outs do occur upstairs; we particularly loved the Sonos setup with a speaker in every room and on more than one occasion were happy to fall asleep to music in the background. There's no shower so for extended stays it would get tiresome, but the bath is nice and big for a soak. The bed is a little less than comfy for 2 people but overall we would absolutely stay again. Anything we needed like extra kindling for the fire or help with the Sonos we were provided with, they were really great hosts.

    Jim2017-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Serena and James are both completely delightful, they could not have been more helpful during the stay and when I asked if I could arrive earlier than planned it was not a problem at all. Breakfast was yummy, as well as the multiple cups of tea passed my way! I would just make a note of the fact that as it is an attic room there is no door to the room, just a steep stairway and also the bathroom of use is the shared family bathroom. There is no longer a mirror above the bed like in the photo but a full-scale bicycle, which looks very cool but is quite daunting to sleep underneath!!

The spacious kitchen has table and chairs for breakfast/informal meals. In addition to the Aga, there is a hob and a conventional oven. The covered back door leads into a utility room ideal for shedding muddy boots and hanging up coats. A formal dining room seats 8/10 comfortably. Lovely comfy sitting room with large TV opens into small sun room with French doors into garden. Front door opens onto spacious hallway with inner hallway beyond and downstairs cloakroom. A second sitting room/office has a TV, sofa and desk. Upstairs there are four large double bedrooms, two with en suite bathrooms. A family bathroom serves the third double-bedded room and the twin-bedded room.
Get away from it all in some of the most beautiful countryside in Southern England, yet within such easy reach of London that you can pop in to view an exhibition, go to the theatre, opera or ballet and be tucked up in bed again by midnight. A short walk from the house and across the lovely cricket ground you come to beech woods and a myriad of public footpaths stretching into glorious countryside in every direction. There are several wonderful local pubs within a few minutes walk and a friendly village shop which offers basic supplies and a post office. Supermarket, butcher, chemist, medical centre and other amenities all available within 3 miles; not far beyond are Henley and Reading which offer a choice of supermarkets, shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and a programme of events, including the Henley Regatta and Festival. National Trust property Greys Court is close, as is Dorchester Abbey, as well as at least six lovely pay and play golf courses. If you are interested in touring, Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, the Cotswolds and Bampton (where Downton Abbey was filmed) are all within an hour to an hour and a half's drive away. For those keen on shopping, Bicester Village Designer Outlet Centre is less than an hour away.
  • This was the perfect house for our family Christmas. Debbie was a great, thoughtful host, sending us brilliant advice (which we took!) on local pubs and restaurants, the local butcher, where we bought our Christmas ham, and local walks. Since she was away, her friend Lee did a great introduction to the house, and answered a couple of questions during our stay. The house is lovely, the beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, with gorgeous cotton bedding, and even our dogs were provided for, with dog towels and bowls!

  • The house was very well presented and exceeded expectations. It is ideally located in close proximity (walking distance) to a quality restaurant (The Crooked Billet) and the local Pub, The Cherry Tree which also serves good pub. food; both required booking due to demand. The house is less than 20 minutes to Reading and less to Henley. The local equestrian centre at Checkendon was also very good. We had a a very enjoyable and comfortable stay and can recommend the house and host.

  • We are a family of 4 & we had a wonderful time in Debbie's house. It is a warm, inviting family house with a lovely garden. It is as lovely as it looks in all the photos & is in a beautiful location with pretty countryside all around it. You can go for walks through woods right from the house. There are 3 terrific pubs within walking distance (from casual pub fare, to more 'gourmet' food) and Henley is a gorgeous town about 10-15 minutes drive away. The house was a great base for us. Four lovely bedrooms, 2 sitting areas and a friendly kitchen with absolutely everything you could need. Beautiful to sit out in the evening with a glass of wine enjoying the summer evenings. Debbie was always responsive via email and very helpful with local suggestions (even helping me arrange a babysitter!). The neighbours were friendly & welcoming too. We all really enjoyed the house & our time there. It really is a gorgeous spot. I would recommend this to my family & friends who want to visit the area. There's so much in the local area to do & visit. Loved it, thank you.

A delightful contemporary interior designed house, with generous open plan living.
The village has a local pub within walking distance. There are many good local gastropubs and if you want michelin star restaurants there within a short drive. There are many stunning walks and bike trails. Reading is only 10 mins by car. Henley is 10-15 mins. The river Thames runs through nearby villages of Caversham, Pangbourne and Henley.

The Pool House is perfect for your English country holiday. Not only does it offer comfortable living accommodation with sumptuous The White Company linens, it further includes a private swimming pool, hot tub and gym!
You'll be staying in this very secluded and calm barn conversion on the outskirts of Henley-on-Thames. Enjoy the private swimming pool or chill out in the hot tub with a glass of champagne. Theres also a Moroccan hut to relax in in the evenings
  • We had an amazing stay!! We just wanted to have a calm escape from busy Londyn. Place was fantastic. Amazing energy. Peaceful. We went for some amazing walks. Harry was very helpful. We will be back again soon. Thank you Best regards Justyna and Ron

  • Positives: + Secluded + beautiful interiors +Hot tub!! Negatives: - Pool is not heated- couldn't make use of this facility - no host on site/locally to help. Office hours closed & felt bad constantly hassling person in charge - weak wifi signal/ no reception (can be a positive for some though :))

  • Stayed for a week and loved the space. The Pool House is very comfortable and the grounds are absolutely stunning! You have to be mindful of sloping ceiling the in the pool house toilet to avoid bumping your head but apart from that the space is lovely and theirs a second toilet in the utility area by pool where the washing machine and dryer can be found. Went on some great walks and Henley is only a few miles by car from the house should you need to do some shopping. The pool area is beautiful, the outdoor bbq area is superb and loved the wind chimes around the grounds. All in all a very relaxing week away!

My home is close to the town centre, restaurants, shops and the river, all just a 20minute walk or there is a bus at the end of the road. You’ll love the house as recently refurbished and modern, and because of the quiet but convenient location, with great access and south facing garden. It is great for couples and business travellers.
The area is close to town but also 5 minutes from beautiful country walks and pubs.

  • Ally was a brilliant host and lovely lady! Warm, friendly and immensely interesting. Her bungalow is recently refurbished and looks excellent - with all facilities being immaculate. I hope the rest of my Airbnb experienced are to this standard!
