Beach
“Stunning beach reserved for swimming! Great beach shop selling local goodies! Park at Ready money car park, enjoy the beach and stroll down the Esplinade and into the Harbour town of Fowey. Stop on route for an afternoon tea at The Fowey Harbour Hotel”

Tapas Restaurant

“Great tapas, friendly little place with tables outside. Good for stopping for a drink on the way back from Readymoney or for tapas anytime of day.”

Nature
“The castle was built by Henry VIII to keep out likely invaders. It's a spectacular view from here and especially breathtaking when the Red Arrows do their flyover during Fowey Royal Regatta in August - be sure to duck!”

Bar
“We had a great meal here of locally caught fish. Can get busy so recommend booking. You can park up just outside Polruan, go for a walk along the coastal path with stunning views of the sea and of Fowey across the estuary, eat at the Lugger Inn, take the ferry across to Fowey avoiding all the parking problems, see Fowey and then come back on the ferry to Polruan and walk back through the village to your car.”

Bar
“A traditional pub in Polruan. If you go... make sure you also visit the Polruan 'Lugger' and make sure you check ferry times too if visiting from Fowey.”

Lodging
“Apparently the food is great here, I've never been but it's open to non residents and is in a stunning location. If you book some spar time, or use the pool up there, there is a hot tub on the veranda with a fabulous view. I don't know how much it costs for non residents to use these facilities (there is a spar there too) but it's worth asking. It's a fabulous colonial looking building that I believe Toad Hall was based on.”

Lodging
“Open to non residents - you can't beat the views from the balcony (you can sit out on the balcony to eat and drink). They do also have a tea garden which is sometimes open in summer and which looks over the sea too. Great spot to watch the sun go down. ”

“Fowey is very similar to Salcombe and is an extremely popular destination. 20 minutes car drive from Mevagissey or 40 minutes by the Mevagissey to Fowey Ferry. ”

Point of Interest
“This is not a castle... grr, that's what it's written down as to get it to appear on this map. It's actually a blockhouse which was linked to an identical one on the Fowey side of the river by a chain. The chain would be raised to stop invading or dubious ships.”
