Restaurant des Nouilles
“Toki Underground (1234 H St NE) is the best place in the city to get ramen. The wait is usually long, as the place is small and doesn’t accept reservations, so put your name down and go downstairs to The Pug for a beer while you wait. ”

Bar à vin
“Barcelona is our favorite wine & cocktails in town. It is always full of a variety of local and foreign people, with a lot of chances to meet new ones on a very nice atmosphere drinking wine and eating tasty food.”

Hot Dog Joint
“A must for any celebrity visiting the city, Ben’s Chili Bowl has been a DC staple since it opened on U Street in 1958. The half-smoke toting restaurant’s storefront is plenty Instagrammable on its own, but the famous Ben’s Chili Bowl mural – featuring distinguished African American trailblazers and celebrities – is iconic. The colorful wall honors the likes of Barack and Michelle Obama, Dave Chappelle, Prince and Harriet Tubman.”

Restaurant Américain
“Located just down Monroe Street, I’m at The Coupe at least once a week! They do coffee and pastries to-go ($3-$5), as well as sit down breakfast ($15pp), lunch, and dinner. It’s pretty big so there isn’t usually a wait (Sometimes for brunch), and very reasonably priced. Definitely worth checking out! ”

Restaurant asiatique
“The future of dining probably looks something like this hybrid cafe/men’s-streetwear shop/Southeast Asian restaurant—retail-and-restaurant combos are popping up everywhere right now. Mostly, we’re here for Erik Bruner-Yang’s take on Taiwanese and Cambodian cuisines. An order of pork or leek-and-mushroom bao is a no-brainer, and spicy lamb noodles are an obvious temptation. That said, we can never say no to the fried chicken. Big enough for two or more, the extra-crispy breasts are livened with Szechuan peppercorns, pickled cabbage, and a heavy drizzle of sweet caramelized fish sauce that soaks into hunks of baguette. Moderate.”

Boulangerie
“The best vegan baked goods and sweets in the city! Doran is a two-time winner of Cupcake Wars and its shows. My faves—any cupcake, Cowvin cookie, or Little Devil. They also have a coffee cake to die for! They have Wi-Fi and coffee so if you need somewhere to hang for an hour or two after checkout, I highly recommend this spot. Also, if you or your guests are vegan, Sticky Fingers has a sister restaurant, Fare Well, in the H Street corridor. ”
