“For a truly Melbourne bar experience, head to Cookie and work your way through the mammoth beer selection (CBD)”

Whisky Bar
“Boilermaker House is home to one of the largest collections of whisky in Melbourne, boasting a library of 700 offerings. From the Lonsdale Street entrance, Boilermaker House is completely unassuming – a signature of the Speakeasy Group, which also has EDV in its roster. Through the gigantic doors, the bar opens up to a brash explosion of bodies, blues and brews. You’ll be amongst a lot of city workers after knocking-off time finding solace in a whisky or a beer or both, and groups of bros nerding out on a bit of whisky education. ”

“Cool, funky upstairs bar with a balcony overlooking Section 8. Always good for a boogie, I love the music here. Some of my best nights in Melbourne have been had at Ferdy. Monday nights even!”

“Consistently topping both best rooftop bars in the city and best laneway bars, Union Electric is a truly one-of-a-kind Melbourne experience. In typical Melbourne fashion, it isn’t easy to locate. It’s down a laneway off a laneway, but if you listen out for jazz tunes playing behind a green door, you’ve most likely found it. Take a seat below the mirrors in the intimate indoor section, choose a spot in the laneway (yes, this bar has its own) or go upstairs to enjoy drinks in the open sky on the rooftop. Not trying to be all things to all people, staff encourage patrons to bring in food from neighbouring restaurants to enjoy with drinks. High-end whiskies, freshly juiced apples served with your choice of gin, vodka, rum or other spirits, and espresso martinis – said to be the best in the city – all feature on the line-up. As the sun drops, candles bring a warm light to each table while wall-mounted heaters bring literal heat for those seated outside. 13 Heffernan Lane”

“I love this weird, dive bar. You never know what you're going to get. Cash only. It's just a bar in a lane, out in the open. Went there one night and there was a hip hop DJ battle going on. So Melbourne!”

“Top off dinner with the best chocolatier in town. Things are a little pricey on their menu, however, the "Chocolate Lick" is the BEST value for money there is. At $2.70, this shot of chocolate is rich enough to hit even the biggest of sweet tooths.”

“Closest to Qv. Introduce yourself to Matt, he'll look after you. Matt can also look after your luggage if you have a late flight or arrive too early for check in. ”
