“Beautiful temple complex , no foreign tourists and of course you do not have to pay . The walk up into the temple complex is mostly past monks` houses and gardens...you can walk into the gardens and have a look . Walk up to the fist hall on the left ...large view of Lake Biwa...and then up to the main hall and go in the right side door ( leave your shoes at the bottom on the stone steps) an older lady monk is usually there reciting Mantras..Many times I have been the only person there listening to the chanting , very peaceful . They also put on an opera in the grounds last year ...Turendot ..fantastic ”
