Kitchenette. Table de petit déjeuner.

  • Our experience at the bothy was generally very nice. Good location, but you need a car! The hosts were very welcoming and we even received a delicious slice of cake as on our arrival!

  • Lovely space, we visited for a friends wedding nearby. Despite being close to the main house, we felt we had enough privacy. Simon and his wife were very easy to communicate with and kindly accommodating. Thank you

  • We had a lovely stay at The Bothy which provided everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the secluded location was in idyllic surroundings. We had a lovely walk by the pond on Shortheath Common in the morning and really enjoyed the short time we spent in Oakhanger. Although we knew access was via an unmade road we did not expect the track to be quite as bumpy as it was, would definitely recommend arriving in daylight.

    Irene2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Good little place, quiet, surrounded by woodland and good for walks.

    Christopher2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the boggy. Had a little trouble finding it but didn't take too long to get it sorted out. Our gps was actually right all along but we spent too much time trying to follow the written instructions that we got turned around. The bothy itself is cozy and tucked away in the garden. Has a great little kitchenette and super comfy bed. We would definitely stay here again!

    Jillian2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay at the Bothy. Extremely cosy and relaxed atmosphere with lots of lovely walks in the area. Hazel and family were excellent hosts and I would definitely recommend others to stay here.

This is our large family home that has been split internally so you can have private use of the southern part of the house including own front door. There are extra beds not listed, so please ask us for details. Oakwoods, partly built in Medieval times, has been lovingly restored by my husband Monty (ref. TV's Grand Design's). We have a minstrels gallery, walk-on well, roaring fires, warm brickwork & low beams. The huge garden sits in the middle of fields & forests, magical walks and wildlife.
On your doorstep is beautiful countryside, with views from the windows and terrace over the fields and forests. Watch the deer quietly grazing, pheasants strutting, beautiful sunsets from the terrace - all of life! There are also many walks from the doorstep.
Just a 10 minute drive down the road is the historic village of Selborne, with its listed buildings & famous for its Gilbert White museum. Over 250 years ago Selborne and its surrounding landscape inspired Gilbert White’s life-long investigation of the natural world, culminating in his world-famous book The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne(an un-identified prequel to Darwin's Theory of Evolution. His house tells Gilbert White’s story within the walls of his family home and his unique 18th century garden. A wonderful place for both young and more mature visitors with an excellent tea room! Throughout July and August they host events including Wild Art day, Bushcraft Day & Gilbert games day. In the local village of Chawton ( 15 min drive) is Jane Austen's House Museum, local pub and tearoom. It is also ideally suited for exploring the South Downs National Park, historic market town of Alton with its steam railway and is only 15 miles from Winchester, the ancient capital of Wessex.
  • It's just a great place to be. The farmhouse is restored with a lot of Love and there are lots of little things zu discover. A very good mix of old, new and interesting bits. We loved the Attick-Room which is reached through the chimney. Great place for a cup of tea. Claire and Monty are very good hosts and answered all our questions. They gave us some tips where to go and what to do in the neigbourhoud. The location was perfect for us. Lovely villages around to discover and London within a reach for a (long) daytrip.

    Karin2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a great week in Claire, Monty and Flynt's house. The house itself is very interesting and tidy, with a great history and offers a lot of space and great countryside views. We undertook quite a few longer walks in the vicinity, visited Jane Austen's house (15 min by car) and the place is in easy reach (about 1 hour by car) even of Salisbury and Stonehenge. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the place is ideal for a quiet get away, with visits to the historic Selborne Common, the village shop and tea room (the sandwiches, panini and cakes were home-made and delicious) at about a two mile walk (or short drive) from the house. Last but not least, Claire, Monty and their son have really made us feel very welcome, given us a lot of space in their home and generous use of their kitchen, outdoor and living space and were very helpful in suggesting routes for walking or places to visit. It was also great meeting them and having a chat. Thank you very much for everything.

    Soeren2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Monty’s and Claire’s home during a weekend getaway for an event in the area. The place itself is truly unique and pictures don’t do it justice. At 5 adults, we had more than enough space and sleeping quarters without ever feeling crowded. But what made our experience enjoyable was thanks to our lovely hosts who were hospitable, accommodating, communicative, and easygoing. I cannot thank them enough and would highly recommend anyone looking to stay in this area.

    Sylvie2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was definitely the most interesting place that we’ve stayed in. Historical features, especially the well, were great. Monty was very swift to reply to all message and very charming and helpful. As with all old houses, there was a lot of dust and we had a bit of a fly issue and water leak in the top room, but for a slightly smaller party who didn’t need to use the top room it would have been great. Monty, however was very forthcoming about this so I would recommend paying heed to his advice on numbers! The kitchen is rather petit, again ideal for cooking for 4-5 people, but a stretch for 10 regarding oven space. A charming, secluded and whimsical place to stay with a charming host. I would definitely recommend (for 6 people max). Thank you Monty!

    Anna2017-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our group absolutely loved this place. We were quite disappointed that we had only booked it for a single weekend! I would highly recommend staying here and Monty was a wonderful host - very welcoming and friendly.

  • Oakwoods Farmhouse is a historic gem of a house with a generous garden and orchard, all lovingly restored with ingenuity and creativity by the owners. We appreciated the beautiful exposed medieval beams of the farmhouse, combined with clever, space-saving mod cons, and a comfy night's sleep in pleasing rooms filled with family heirlooms and antique finds. Bedrooms and bathrooms (with tubs), are comfortable, tidy, and stylish. Home-cinema room and a daring tree-swing out back was a favorite with the kids. Selborne is a lovely little village, close by Jane Austen's House, the Gilbert White Museum, and nearby Winchester, Southhampton, and Portsmouth. Though isolated down a country lane, we could make a quick run to the Tesco 7min. away for provisions. We enjoyed our visit tremendously and would love to return.

    Aimee2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at Oakwoods. Its a unique house with some wonderful features that was the perfect place to relax with our friends and kids for the weekend. Monty and Claire were both super helpful and friendly. It was a perfect weekend.

  • The place is exactly as described, the hosts are super nice and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay at this quite unique place. Highly recommended!

An apartment set in one of Hampshire's most idyllic locations in the heart of Jane Austins county, (her house is only a few miles away), over looking the Hangers Way and close to Gilbert Whites House. The apartment is part of an old Oast house dating back may centuries and is my home. The house benefits from gated access and is away from the hustle and bustle of city life. I aim to make your stay a home away from home and a rememerable break. Great for walkers and those who wish to relax.
The accommodation boasts 2 large bedrooms (one with exposed beams), luxurious bathrooms, and large open living areas, one having a piano for those who like to dabble on the keys and an open fire. With far reaching views there are plenty of nooks to retire in with comfortable sofas and chairs.
What neighbours? Within my grounds there are a very small number of houses set apart that you will not notice. There is no light pollution so those who like to views the stars are in for a treat. There are a couple of pubs a few minutes drive away, but those who wish to walk please note there is no street lighting on route.
  • The house is stunning and the location fabulous.

    Deborah2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Oast House provided just the right environment to celebrate my daughter's twelfth birthday. Clean, spacious, fantastic aesthetic and with a great host! Peter provided a warm welcome to his home, a warmth from his character and his open fire - how lovely it was to come home to find kindling and firewood at the ready! Peter's home provides the perfect antidote to city/urban living. Set in beautiful countryside it's not too far from Petersfield, which allowed for easy purchase of food and provisions to take back. I agree with other reviews; the photos do not do The Oast House justice! Not only is the building pleasing to the eye, the internal spaces are large and easy on the soul; comforting in its furniture there's also opportunity to tinkle on the ivories (my daughter not I!). We would certainly go back for repeat visits to benefit not only from Peter's charm, but also of his home and the plethora of opportunities its surroundings have to offer. Sincere thanks Peter from all of us!

    Alexander2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely marvelous house. Authenticity, very confortable, big bedrooms , large beds, modern bathroom. Peter had also filled the fridge with food and drinks. He has also prepared hot croissants in the morning, we felt very welcomed. The house is surrounded by fields, with horses, around the house you can meet beautiful peacocks. No noise. It has been one of the best Airbnb we booked. I hope we will be able to come back.

    Evelyne2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful weekend away. Beautiful walks surround this stunning place which made it the perfect mini break. The freshly baked croissants in the morning served with a friendly smile was a very welcome treat! The locals are so friendly, a truly memorable weekend. Thank you so much peter!

Volveremos seguro, estamos encantados!

  • What a fab host and place, truly inspirational. Thank you. See you again sometime!

    Professor Rebecca2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation was absolutely stunning. Much larger than it appears on the photographs. The fixtures and fittings are to a really high standard and the bath is almost like a hot tub. It was lovely to look out over the fields and see the animals wandering about! Peter is extremely welcoming and goes over and above expectations to meet the guests needs. Would book again!

    Rachel2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Peters hosting and Home are second to none. We had a wonderful experience and intend to stay again the next time we visit Winchester in the Spring. And every visit after that too. Relaxing and peaceful, with touches of luxury that made it a very special weekend for 3 different generations of my family. Thank you Peter and we will see you and Sybil in the Spring.

  • The cabin was absolutely perfect, comfortable, quiet, spacious yet cosy and had everything we needed during our stay. The surrounding area is beautiful too. Jenny was so lovely and welcoming from the moment we met her. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.

  • I was staying here as I was running a course in the area and it was perfect for me. Lots of room and a very comfortable bed. The only down side was the lack of privacy. The windows look out on to the garden of the family home so anyone that is in the garden can see straight in. It wasn't a huge problem, I just drew the curtains :)

We were greeted and shown round and really appreciated the cake, eggs, milk and butter left for us. A lovely setting and great area for a getaway. Recommend walks on Alice Holt forest. Lovely cottage, very well equipped and maintained. Really felt homely. Definitely recommend it and hope to return. Thanks again.

Fiona & partner were very helpful and gave us some good tips for the local area, although we wouldn't recommend the Red Lion, who were closed when we went for our dinner reservation!

. Our peaceful, secluded period cottage is the perfect place to escape, unwind and enjoy the countless acres of surrounding countryside with many local interesting places to visit and a short drive to popular historical towns and attractions, all within the South Downs National Park.
We have some amazing views from the Cottage and interesting country walks all on your doorstep. There is an amateur tennis court within yards of the Cottage for you to practice on with family and friends. The Cottage sleeps 12 guests but is more suited for 8 adults and 4 children/young teens. Jane Austin's house and Gilbert Whites museum and gardens are all within 5 miles away along with some cosy village pubs and we are also not far from Petersfield and Winchester, both of which are interesting historical towns full of Character. There is a riding stable within walking distance of us where you can book riding lessons etc, these are very popular and may need to be booked in advance which I can give you their details if required. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. I have tried to think of everything you may need in the way of scissors, bottle opener, sharp knives etc. There are bath sheets and hand towels, soap and hand wash, tea towels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, cling film, foil, bin bags and toilet rolls. There is also tea, coffee and sugar. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine and tumble drier plus iron and ironing board. There is a 36” television downstairs and a DVD player with some DVD's. We also have tennis rackets albeit a bit outdated but still useable, a croquet set and board games for all. We have a cot, highchair, baby changing unit and 2 baby gates available on request. If you have more family or friends that wish to stay during your visit then why not check out our other property on the estate 'Shotters farm Mews'. I hope all this information is helpful and look forward to your visit
Very peaceful with no traffic as we are on a Private Country Estate
  • Very secluded cottage within a farm estate at the end of a private lane so super quiet. Lovely views and lots of space. Really great environment. Huge grass field next to house which is fun for kids and kites etc. We had a great time!

A spacious 2 bedroom barn conversion with high ceilings and stripped beams that sleeps 4 Adults plus a double sofa bed and 2 single chair beds to accommodate 3 children.
The Mews is a renovated barn keeping as much of the original brickwork and old beams as we could. The two bedrooms are extremely large with super comfy, super king size beds in each room. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/drier. I have tried to think of everything you may need in the way of scissors, bottle opener, can opener, sharp knives etc, however if there is anything I have forgotten, please feel free to ask. There are bath sheets and hand towels, tea towels, jcloths, soap and hand wash, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, bin bags and toilet rolls, also tea, coffee and sugar. There is a local riding school just a short walk away from us where you can book a lesson or go on a gentle trek. We have an amateur tennis court so have put in tennis rackets, albeit a little out dated but usable for fun or practice. There is another very large area of the barn that has been restored for occasional weddings etc, however we will inform you (at the time of your request to book) of any events taking place during your stay.
The one thing you notice when you get to Shotters is the peaceful slow pace, birds singing and no traffic, however there is a wedding venue adjoined to the Mews so please let us know if you have any concerns about this prior to booking as in if there are any events during your stay.
  • A lovely place, absolutely huge, and very well equipped. Very welcoming and friendly hosts.

  • Susanjane was a good host, very responsive and prompt. Shotters farm Mews is spacious and has a lot of character with plenty of interesting things like many engaging books and decorative pieces. The guys particularly enjoyed the big snooker table that is in the storage room and occasionally available to people staying at the Mews. The location in the middle of a forest surrounded by fields offers peace and quiet from all the hassles and bustles, even the milky way with bright stars was visible at night! We drove around to the nearby villages, did a few beautiful trails and if you don't mind driving for a couple of hours you can also get to the magnificent Seven Sisters Cliffs.

  • We stayed in the mews with my 3 children , sister and brother in law. There was more than enough space for 7 of us. The kitchen is well equipped and the living area is stunning with a beautiful fireplace. The bedrooms are huge with sturdy spare beds for the kids and very comfy king size beds for the adults. The grounds are also stunning with tennis courts. We were surprised by the games room which we had fun in. All in all an amazing weekend.

  • A great place for a relaxed getaway close to London. Rustic and informal - hot water, hot radiators and log burner provided, but wine and jumpers still recommended to keep warm! Sleeps two couples comfortably - further guests are accommodated within one of the main bedrooms.

  • We had a fantastic stay at Susanjane's house, extremely cosy and grand at the same time. Susanjane was always very responsive, we checked in late in the evening without any issues - even had some mince pies laid out. The house is well kitted out in the kitchen, very comfy sofas, great place to get away and relax in front of the wood burning fireplace. The only criticism if I search hard is that the WiFi only reaches half way across the building, but bare in mind it's a large property. Hope to be back in the future. Thanks Susanjane for having us stay!

West Cross House Studio is the perfect place to stay to get away from it all. It is in the middle of Upper Farringdon village and is within walking distance of our popular local pub - The Pheasant - which serves good food and beer. Farringdon is a beautiful rural village situated in the South Downs National Park - the village is also on the Writers Walk. The Studio is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and furry friends (pets).
The garden studio is a large self-contained space with a wood burning stove (as well as heaters) and a very good shower etc - there is no kitchen but I do provide tea and coffee making facilities and there is a small fridge. The bed is a sofa bed but it is an extremely comfortable one. There is a little patio outside with table and chairs. There is plenty of space to put a mattress on the floor if an extra bed is required.
Farringdon is beautiful village in the South Downs National Park, within walking distance of the villages of Chawton, where Jane Austin lived and also Selborne which was the home of the naturalist Gilbert White - I like to think that Jane may even have had tea at my house. There are many wonderful walks around Farringdon.

  • A lovely place to stay

  • The "shed" is a large well appointed space separate to the house and affording a good degree of privacy. Sonia was very welcoming and helpful and was prepared to cook breakfast for a reasonable rate. Be great for couples on a rural break as well as business trips.

  • Our stay in Sonia's garden house was brilliant. The house is very cosy and spacious at the same time with nice furniture, wooden walls and with a really beautiful bathroom. There is also a good television and exercise equipment in the back of the room including an exercise mat, a fitball and a TRX hook which I have taken advantage of. We were very well welcomed by Sonia's daughter and the communication with Sonia was great. We really enjoyed our stay and the beautiful surroundings of the house. Thank You!

• We really enjoyed our weekend. It was perfect we couldn't have wanted anything better!

    Tom2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Place just as described. Amazing views over the quiet hills, lovely big open plan room going onto garden, kids loved running in and out. Guests in one other cottage only, and we were the noisy ones so as venetia describes be prepared you may overlao with some neighbours but onlu see/here them in the garden. Great walking straight from the door and lovely nearby pubs, very rural but obly 10 mins to Petersfield for supplies. Rooms all spacious, top room fine for kids and an adult but not much natural light so more adults may find it a bit dark. Would love to come again.

  • These cottages make for a fabulous base from which to explore the south downs. Six adults and a toddler stayed here very comfortably and the amenities within the cottage are great (washing machine, loads of towels, Netflix, cooking facilities, games). Such a peaceful location in idyllic surroundings, take good walking shoes :)

Nearby, the Queen Elizabeth Country Park with its Iron Age Village, visitor centre, walks and cycle tracks makes for a great day out. As does a visit to the Cathedral and Intech at Winchester, the Watercress Line from Alton to Alresford and the steam engine workshop at Ropley. Good gardens and National Trust properties are also nearby. For those interested in the flora and fauna, nearby Selborne and Selborne common (National Trust) will be of great interest for this is where Gilbert White wrote the" Natural History of Selborne" one of the first systematic observations of the natural world.
  • Very nice stay, could do with improving the cleanliness as we found quite a few cob webs and spiders around the upstairs.

  • A great place to stay if you're visiting Chawton House Library. Their driveway is directly opposite the turning down to the library and is only 1/2 mile long. A very pleasant walk on a fine day. Peter kindly drove me to/back from the library when it's dark or raining, which was very helpful. I also appreciated Julia's attention to detail, not to speak of her cakes and breakfast, which were really tasty!

    Tomoko2017-11-10T00:00:00Z

    Marion2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • I read the reviews before choosing Peter's place and we were not disappointed! They are gracious and charming hosts and made us feel very welcome to the UK. I highly recommend their BnB to anyone staying in the area!

  • Received a very warm welcome with Peter and Julia. Their house was conveniently located (10 min walk) to Chawton House and Jane Austen's House so i can recommend it to Janeites! Room and bathroom were in perfect order. The surroundings of their house are beautiful, a real countryside feeling. Harty breakfast and thanks for the lift to the trainstation.

    Caroline2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly recommend this beautiful home in such a lovely village - the hospitality was very warm and we felt refreshed. The area around is perfect for walking out and the village is of course such a historic one. .

  • Peter and Julia's cottage is the ideal base for a Jane Austen experience. Literally a 15 minute walk up a pretty country driveway to Jane's house and museum passing Chawton House, her brother's residence, on the way. Also a great base for a day trip to Steventon (her birthplace) and then the sequence of villages from Overton through Whitfield to Andover which she was familiar with ending up at Winchester Cathedral where she is buried. Also great for a daytrip to Portsmouth dockyard to see Mary Rose and the Nelson's Victory. Lovely cottage and garden with generous informative hosts and a great breakfast. We would gladly return. Highly recommended. Thanks Peter and Julia

    Paul2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely home and truly hospitable hosts. I guessed as much from the pictures, which why I said 'a bit better than expected'. The whole house is beautifully presented and the guest room has everything, including ensuite shower room and comfortable bed. It was a great stay and I hope to repeat it. Without a car, though, it could prove a bit of a lengthy walk from the village for some people, but with one, it's fine. It could not be better situated for Chawton House and the Austen house in the village. Peter and Julia are lovely hosts and you are guaranteed a lovely time.

  • A very pleasant, well located B&B.

  • Small private room kept exceptionally clean. Breakfast is next door in the village tea room where the staff and breakfast are delightful. Lovely quaint village too

  • A lovely stay just in front of Jane Austen House Museum. Just a privilege being there. Excellent breakfast in Cassandra's cup just next to the room.

    Irene2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Cassandra’s Cottage is literally across from the Jane Austen House Museum—you can look out from the windows of the museum and see your front door! The room is comfortable and very clean, with everything you need for tea provided. You’re nextdoor to a lovely neighborhood pub and a pretty 20minute walk from the proper town of Alton. A Jane Austen lover’s ideal location! I would definitely come back. The only note is that you are directly off the street, with the bed right inside the door. It’s a small village so quiet at night, but this arrangement may not be ideal for everyone.

    Shea 2017-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, bright, clean space in very picturesque Chawton. We were at a nearby wedding and didn't fancy the pubs in Alton after reading the reviews. This was great. And to get breakfast in next door's cafe the next morning (closed to public for the first hour) was amazing. It was heavenly and it saved us. Being at the wedding for all of Saturday and then being horribly hungover on Sunday, I can't say we had a fully immersive experience in Chawton (we didn't even visit Jane Austen's house) but it would be a great little weekend break on another occasion. Highly recommend.

    charlotte2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our brief stay. The cottage is clean and cosy, and the location in the middle of Chawton is perfect. The breakfast served in the cafe next door was delicious so overall a brilliant experience. Will definitely come back.

  • Perfect location! Very well-kept. Quaint with an English cottage feel and very picturesque. My sister and I wanted to stay close to Jane Austen's house, and Malene's place was steps away. We didn't get to meet Malene, but we met her husband. He was very nice and accommodating-took us to the train station when we needed to leave. Highly recommend Malene's!

  • Do not miss this idyllic opportunity to blend a mix of perfect English rural tranquility with direct access to main roads to the south coast, London or the West Country. Your hosts Tom and Jenny are the perfect literation - adorable, accomplished, attentive and absolutely affable. The house is a quite large two bedroom - two storey dwelling set within sprawling green gardens surrounded by thatched cottages and close to Jane Austen's country house. It is within walking distance of Alton with its plentiful shops and a direct train connection to Waterloo, London. It really is perfection. Can't wait to go back. X

  • A large, light annexe in a beautiful location. The rooms are large and comfortable, and there is a full kitchen and bathroom (really nice shower). I stayed with a work colleague and this was a good space for that - large enough for privacy. Chawton is a great place to stay: we were working for most of it but managed two early morning walks and a walk into Alton itself, which is very easy to reach. Tom is a great host who easy to communicate with; he even picked us up from the station!

    Louisa2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous location to visit Chawton or Alton in a beautiful location on the grounds of a gorgeous home.

  • Tom and Jenny were fantastic hosts! We had the absolute best time. We appreciated getting to know them—you won’t find a better place to stay while you’re in Chawton!

  • A beautiful and very peaceful retreat close to many places of interest. Very friendly hosts, very generous hospitality and plenty to see and do. Excellent guidebooks with plenty of walks from the doorstep, and beautiful towns and villages nearby to explore too. A wonderful long week-end.

  • Siamo stati benissimo! Tornerei volentieri

Full marks Elly for all your email information and for making us feel so welcomed and at home. Will definitely be in touch if life brings us back to your location again.

  • Fun and friendly family. Elly and Tim welcomed us into their lovely home with advice on local cycle routes and country pubs and made us feel like part of the family. The separate room with bathroom off the side of the house gives you all the space you might want. Excellent breakfast and use of the games room! Had a brilliant weekend and would definitely return.

    Michaël2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The village of Chawton is picturesque and the cottage is as cozy as it looks in the photographs. The host was really friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend!

    Victoria 2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Bay Tree Cottage is a very special place and Caroline and her family are the most charming, caring and thoughtful hosts. The cottage is absolutely delightful, beautifully decorated and finished to an extremely high standard as well as being a few steps away from Jane Austen's house. When we arrived it was spotlessly clean and we couldn't believe how much had been left for us; a huge 4 pints of milk, strawberries, fresh bread, yoghurts, as well as tea, coffee, luxury biscuits, chocolate and cooking ingredients. The personalised itinerary that Caroline and her daughter suggested and emailed to us for Tuesday was great. My mother described it as 'an enchanted day'. We will be recommending Bay Tree Cottage to anyone who will listen. Thank you.

    sue2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was very good and Caroline was very clear and helpful. Note that the cottage has steep stairs.

    Patrick2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • The most beautiful little cottage - excellently kitted out and very homely and comfortable. The garden is a haven. Caroline and her daughter could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended.

    Martin2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Bay Tree Cottage is absolutely exquisite, perfect in every conceivable way. Clean and beautifully maintained (with a gorgeous private back garden, as well), the cottage is thoughtfully stocked with provisions for sleeping, bathing, cooking, and breakfasting. Caroline and Etienne have kept the cottage's 17th-century character, from its large, cosy fireplace to the exposed beams of the original timber frame. Its location is also hard to beat, as Chawton is a quintessentially charming, quiet English village, and it is an easy drive to such attractions as the Historic Dockyards in Portsmouth, the city of Winchester, and Stonehenge. Of course, the cottage is also a stroll away from Jane Austen's house, an excellent museum, as well as her brother's stately Tudor home, now known as Chawton House Library. But though the surrounding sights were fascinating, our favourite part of each day was simply returning to this splendid cottage. It is without doubt the best experience that my wife and I have ever had with an Airbnb, and I highly recommend Bay Tree Cottage to anyone who has a reason to stay in Hampshire. We ourselves will certainly be returning to stay in future!

    Jon-Mark2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stay here! Baytree cottage is of the highest quality. Caroline is absolutely lovely and has thought of everything you could ever want or need! Beds were comfortable, bathroom & kitchen are modern, clean and perfect. We were super impressed with this quaint English cottage. 10/10. Thanks again:)

Within walking distance of the town, buses and train station. Jane Austen Village nearby with lovely villages and pubs surrounding. Not far to Winchester, Guildford and historic town of Petersfield. Just over an hour by train to Waterloo Station.
The room is a small room with dresser and wardrobe.
It is a short walk to the town where there are a variety of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and specialist shops.
  • Gill was a great host for many reasons: 1) She was understanding about a last minute change in check in time 2) She kindly gave me a the lift back to the wedding I was attending 3) She provided a great breakfast and even left me a sandwich for my travels! The only SMALL improvement I've suggested is attaching something more substantial to block out the light in the room...

    Ryan2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is properly located and you have everything in hand. It could not be better: quiet, peaceful and yet one step of bises and supermarket and turístico area. Gil is very friendly and helpful It is indeed worth every penny we pay for it and more!! Breakfast is just perfect at a round table at the dining room with huge glass windows and doors to her cozy garden. Gil is an artist so the house is filled with art - everywhere you look there is some artistic piece It was lovely to stay at Gil’s

I loved having breakfast (provided) in a bright kitchen/ dining area with the view of the garden, which was lovely to sit in on sunny days. The area is quiet and i was able to get a good rest. All in all I can recommend Gill and her home.

Railway Cottage sits in the heart of the small Village of East Tisted. The bedroom is light and airy and offers great views over the surrounding countryside. It is a excellent base for cyclists and walkers on which we can offer you helpful advice.

  • Sadly I didn't get to meet Emma and Richard as they had to undertake some last minute travel. They made everything as simple as possible for me in their absence though and I felt thoroughly welcomed regardless. The house is gorgeous, the location easy to find with the directions they gave, the room had fresh towels and water, they left breakfast out for me and it was all just a delight. A much needed cosy home at the end of my long day. Thank you Emma & Richard!

  • We were very happy. Everything was as advertised, and Claire was very helpful. Chawton is a very pretty area, the locals are friendly, and it was interesting to see where Jane Austn lived.

  • The house was lovely, and perfect for us. All the facilities we needed and more. Perfect. Very clean and user friendly, two bathrooms plus an extra loo, and a very informative big file about everything we wanted to know. The village of Chawton was a great tourist destination, and we enjoyed going to Chawton House Library, Jane Austen's House, the local pub, and the kids loved the park too. We picked the house because it was an equal distance between Beaulieu Motor Museum and Legoland (50 ish mins from each), and had great days out at both. Very happy.

  • Great place to stay. The descriptions is very accurate and we could not have enjoyed ourselves more!

  • Big, beautiful home and yard. Very close to Jane Austen's house. For the uninitiated, it's good to know that it's a very small (beautiful) town that shuts down early and has one pub/restaurant open after six. Clair's brother's home is very clean. She works all day, so get your questions in early.

  • Sarah was very friendly and welcoming and her home is really lovely. Its in a quiet residential area just outside Alton's town centre - but with a bus route only a few minutes walk away, we found it easy to get to the Watercress Line for our day out! Sarah was happy to give us information about the town, and made us feel at home - showing us the house and facilities but allowing us space to settle in. We only stayed for one night but thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

    Michael2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We sometimes enjoy being on our own, spending time as we want. But traveling solo can be sometimes too isolated. Sarah knows the knack of being a great host. She spoke to me whenever I needed her attention and help. She left me alone when I had things to do. Though she was extremely busy this month, she made my stay comfortable, delightful and memorable. I think I wrote in my previous review, and this may be a repetition, but the room was stylish, her garden beautiful, and her breakfast delicious.

    Mika2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Deeply I was moved! It's my first time to stay at air b_b. Honestly I war anxious about. BUT!! Sarah is really "the best" lady, she welcomed me. Her houre & garden are beautiful. I lack for nothing. It was cozy as if I stayed at friend's house. Thank you, Sarah! Next summer, I'll come back to you!

  • We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Sarah's home. She and Bella, the cat, welcomed us with a cup of tea. The room was a lot bigger than the photo's suggested and we loved it: beautiful colors, bright and clean. Communication was very fast. We appreciated the amount of parking space and the quiet surroundings. Sarah made us feel very welcome and we felt right at home. She specifically asked for our breakfast wishes, which has not happened to us before at an Airbnb. She gave us valuable information about what to see, how to get there and where to eat. Our last night, Sarah invited us for dinner with her and a friend and niece. We loved the food and the company. We highly recommend this Airbnb and would like to come back to explore the countryside some more, using the booklet with walks that was present in the room.

The Hanger's Way, Shipwrights 'Way et South Down's Way sont tous à proximité.
  • Lovely property that is really well resources. Super provision of kitchen things, games, magazines, books, dvd, WiFi if you decide to be indoors but on the doorstep is a great rural setting.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Poet's cottage. The cottage is brand new, cosy, immaculate. Bathrooms are superb! A nice welcome present was there for us on arrival. The whole family enjoyed our stay. I really would like to go back for a longer stay.

  • Poet's Cottage is a beautiful place in a lovely part of the country. The sound of distant geese and the morning cock-crow contributed to our enjoyment of our week, and our grandson loved being taken to see the goats and the donkeys in a paddock across the road. The cottage is extremely well-equipped, and as light and bright and attractive and comfortable as we could have hoped. There is a plentiful supply of helpful local information and, wonderfully, two Explorers maps which guests are invited to borrow and which cover the whole area in the detail that one needs for walks. There were games and DVDs and two televisions and what looked to us like rather hi-tec audio kit which would be valuable if the weather was bad or in the winter, although we didn't use any of it ourselves. The owner provided a highchair and a travel cot and a plastic bowl and spoon which our ten month old grandson was grateful for. 'Please, grandpapa, tell Alexandra how grateful I am for this wonderful hospitality!' were his very words. The owner was extremely helpful in her responses to queries before we arrived and equally quick to respond to a query when we were there. Steep itself is beautiful - it's the village Edward Thomas and his family lived in, and the first of the three houses they rented here is just along the road from Poet's Cottage. We enjoyed fantastic walks in the woods and the terrific views to north and south from the viewpoints at the top of the hanger. On a wet day we went to Mottisfont (NT) and we did a walk from Hinton Ampner (NT) on another day. Petersfield is easily walkable via Steep Church and a bit of the Hangers Way footpath. There were five adults and one baby in our party and we all fitted into the cottage comfortably. There is plenty to do in the area and the South Downs Way is easily accessible. We'd happily spend another week there - it's a part of the world we did not know and which we are very pleased to have been able to explore from such a convenient and secluded and comfortable base as Poet's Cottage. Thank you!

  • The cottage was beautiful. We had a great time.

  • Poet's Cottage is a delight. Comfortable, well appointed, great kitchen, Quiet, very rural, easy access walks into woodland or lane, next to a working farm, and hosted by the lovely Bridger family. We, 4 adults and one child, stayed in Poet's for a week. We would return again without hesitation.

  • Wonderfully well equippped warm and welcoming cottage. Tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. Ideal for a family or group gathering and well placed for exploring the hangars and surrounding area. Would definitely recommend it.

  • A really delightful cottage - clean and bright, spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. Lovely touches including fresh flowers and welcome gift. Alexandra was very helpful and quick to answer questions before our stay. I would highly recommend Poets Cottage.

  • For anyone who want a place to get away and relax this couldn't be more spot on. It's absolutely perfect for couples, the location feels secluded and very relaxed. The barn has everything you need - breakfast, hairdryer, towels etc. Absolutely brilliant. We went on a few short walks and there are a couple of pleasant pubs and restaurants close by (walking distance) although it's nice to sit in the garden and enjoy the surroundings. We were incredibly lucky with the weather but I'm sure it'd still be fantastic even in the cooler months! Thanks again, Soph x

  • A lovely property in lovely countryside, just perfect for our weekend getaway. The barn is finished beautifully and had everything we could have needed. Thank you Paddy and Kim for being so welcoming and all the little extras provided in the barn. We will definitely be recommending your lovely place to others!

  • Lovely place, remote enough for a peaceful stay but close enough to local amenities. Did a lot of walking and was nice to come home to such a comfy base. Great nights sleep and very welcoming hosts. Thank you.

  • We had a lovely couple of days at the barn. After a very warm welcome, we were able to enjoy the peace and beautiful countryside. The barn is spacious and very tastefully decorated. It's a great place to relax and unwind.

  • This provided a lovely base for our relaxing weekend away. The property is well fitted out with full kitchen and dishwasher which meant we could enjoy cooking and spending the evening in. Very warm and snug with underfloor heating, great sofa tv and bathroom. The fridge was filled with milk eggs and a few treats for when we arrived so we couldn't ask for much more! Fantastic hosts and a lovely place to spend a weekend.

  • We arrived quite late and found the key to get in. Didn't see Alexandra and lots of leaflets and map and useful general information in the house. I assume it was the farm workers who live next door came round when needed. The house is great with large rooms and well equipped kitchen and laundry room. Large dining table and very comfy sofas in sitting room. The turkey barn is quite close and although didn't disturb us you can definitely hear them. Great walks from the doorstep and pubs nearby.

  • Gorgeous, cosy house perfect for a family get-together! Lots of space with enough comfy chairs in the living room for all 7 of us, plus a dining table ideal for meals and card games. Really enjoyed the Aga, and discovered quite a few country walks from our doorstep. Would love to come again!

  • Great secluded spot, perfect for a weekend with the family. Making the most of the house and garden, enjoying the time in a large home all together rather than rushing around missing each other. We booked to have a farm tour which was great - the kids loved it and the adults learnt a lot too! Lovely hosts

  • We are a family of 7 and the Turkey House accommodated us just fine. It is a lovely cottage with a nice yard, secluded and quiet, yet only a 5 minute drive from stores or restaurants. The host is beyond friendly and helpful with anything you may need or ask information about. There are fields around the cottage, housing sheep and horses, and there are trails that let you explore the woods and reward you with amazing views if you follow them to the top of the hills. We all would love to come back.

    tanja2017-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable stay at the Turkey House. The fireplace is NOT working, which is a real shame as it’s such a big beautiful feature in the lounge room, and the reason why we had booked our stay there, so we were disappointed. The house is indeed in the middle of a noisy working farm, we didn’t mind the animal noises, but be aware that you can hear them even with closed windows. The AGA is a great feature in the kitchen. The beds are very comfortable, we had 2 excellent nights of sleep. Thanks Alexandra.

This listing is for Pippin Pod. Our site is child free which will allow you to relax and enjoy the peace of the glorious countryside. Our Pods are close to the village of Kingsley In Hampshire which has a quaint village store, Alice Holt for woodland walks and a great garden Centre with Butchery, Restaurant, Gift & Shopping which is a short walk away. You’ll love the venue because of the rural location, the snugness and comfort of the pods. The Pods are situated in an orchard on a farm.
Pippin Pod has a standard double bed and is suitable for 2 guests, all bedding is included in the price. The Pod benefits from under floor heating, a small kitchen area with hob, microwave oven and fridge. There is an en-suite which has a standing shower, basin and WC. Every care has been taken to make sure that your stay is an enjoyable one. The pod has its own LuvTub which is suitable for two people. The tub is logged fired and its completely secluded from other guests. The water heats to a very warm 38 degrees. The tub is emptied and cleaned after every guests' stay. We have secure bike storage so if you would like to bring your bike you can rest assure that it is safe. There is an outside veranda with table and chairs for you to sit and enjoy the evening sunsets.
  • This is an absolutely lovely place to stay, a real gem! The pod is beautiful and furnished to a high standard – with lovely little touches too. The view of the farmland is lovely, the surrounding nature is stunning and the hot tub is just so lush! Lisa was very helpful and responded quickly to all the emails. I highly, highly recommend this lovely place. As this is the first review and I’ve hosted and stayed at many Airbnbs I thought I’d write a little bit more to help future guests: The pod - It’s beautiful and the space is used well and furnished to a high standard. The shower pressure is strong and the water hot. The kitchenette has everything you’d need. You can tell a lot of love has been put in it with the little decorations and full of the little touches that really make you feel at home - The bed is very comfy. - We went at the end of summer but the pod has underground floor heating and a great time to come would be the winter to really enjoy a steamy hottub. - The place is very private. The farm is maybe 5 minutes walk away, the next pod is just 50 meters away but you’re surrounded by trees so it is very private. The hot tub is on the other side of the pod so you feel very secluded - There’s a BBQ and porch area, and nice outdoor table. Coal can be bought onsite. Hot tub Really really goooood, very comfortable and lots of fun . Easy to light the fire with the wood that's provided. It’s amazing. Access - I’m a tech geek so I found this cool. But the farm is protected by a gate. You call a number and the gate magically opens. But geeky brownie points aside, it makes it really easy to enter and exit the farm when you like. Thank you Lisa!

    Esteban2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic accomadotion. The pictures don't do it justice. The host Lisa was fantastic and communication with her was faultless . The pod was well kitted out and spotless. Will definitely look to stay again was so peaceful.

  • We had such a lovely weekend in the Pippin pod! From the beginning Lisa was very responsive, always happy to help and went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable while we were there. The pod itself was immaculate and beautifully decorated and the underfloor heating was also a great luxurious touch. The hot tub is a major bonus and it was a perfect way to relax. If you are looking to get away from the city on a glamping trip in a secluded spot, then I highly recommend!

We didn’t actually meet them, but felt very able to make ourselves at home. Not the easiest place to have a lie-in, as no curtains and it’s very bright in the morning!

  • Kirsten made my stay very pleasant and comfortable. She was so kind to offer me to use her coffee and eggs for breakfast as I came late from the party I had to attend. The room is as seen on the photos and is very clean. The bathroom is nice, very clean and has a good space. I really enjoyed staying with her and if I go back to Alton, I will for sure go back. It is very close to the train station and also not far to walk to the centre.
