Scenic Lookout
“Outstanding panoramic views over the Kent Estuary and Morecambe Bay, featuring Arnside viaduct and Lakeland fells. A variety of graded walks and trails, flora and fauna in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A brilliant place to watch The Arnside Bore, a tidal bore which occurs at high spring tides. Ashmeadow Nature Reserve is accessable by footpath and this is one good way to access the Knott. Listen for the twice daily sirens which herald the incoming tide; clear the sands at these times as the incoming tide is fast and furious. There are guided tours across Morecambe Bay by Cedrick Robinson, Queen's Guide to the Sands. Never venture independently; the quick sands are treacherous.”
