Cemetery
“Beautiful cemetery and park where many of Denmark's poets, artists, physicists are laid to rest. It is also a much loved space among the locals in Nørrebro to go for a walk with a coffee or have a picnic in the green areas. Large parts of Assistenten's Cemetery are today designated as a cemetery park, and here you are welcome to settle down and enjoy the green and historical surroundings. The central parts of the cemetery remain an active burial area. Here, chests and urns are reduced every week and relatives visit their grave sites. In the parts of the cemetery you are asked not to stay for the sake of the relatives. ”

Zoo
“Ethical considerations regarding the concept of Zoos aside, Copenhagen Zoo comes across as one of the more conscious institutions, particularly due to their focus on animal welfare and natural stimulation of the animals. This is evident when viewing the large spaces the animals have to roam in and natural behavior exhibited by them, which is why we think it’s worth a visit.”

“At Skansen, you can discover Sweden’s history and find out how Swedes once lived according to the changing seasons, through the customs and traditions, work, celebrations and everyday life of times gone by. This is also a place where festive occasions are celebrated throughout the year. The lively programme of activities includes singing, dancing and concerts in the summer, and Christmas markets in the winter with dancing around the Christmas tree and concerts at Seglora Church. Skansen is a unique place where history meets the present day, where Swedish traditions and craftsmanship live on, and where people of all ages come together. This is the world’s only open-air museum with wild animals. Here you can see Nordic wildlife, rare breeds, pets and exotic creatures. The Children’s Zoo features domestic animals such as cats, rabbits and guinea pigs, as well as small wild animals. The Skansen Aquarium and Our Africa feature exotic animals including monkeys, birds, reptiles and insects. ”

“Slottsskogen is a place for relaxation, recreation and outdoor activities. The mix between planned park and natural forest creates a fantastic environment for everything from running to cosy picnics. In and close to the park are cafés, playgrounds and much more. Much of the park is given over to natural parkland with native trees such as linden, beech, maple and various species of oak. The Dawn Redwood and stately Serbian spruce are a few examples of the more exotic plants on display. The azaleas are not native but have become famous in Slottskogen. The petting zoo and pony rides are open from April to September. The park zoo is open all year round and the admission is free. Slottsskogen also hosts events, big and small, throughout the year. One of the main ones being the music festival Way out west. ”

“This is basically just a park, but one to visit. Underneath the park is the catacombs that used to be used as the water supply for Copenhagen many years ago (you can visit, but its cold downthere). Nowadays Søndermarken is a park with tall grass, lots of buzzing bees and the best science festival in Copenhagen, called Bloom (only three days a year). Its directly opposit Copenhagen Zoo. ”
