Réservées à l'instant à Totnes

Our self-contained beautifully appointed cosy cabin is in a small pretty and peaceful rural Devon village on the banks of the tidal estuary. We are close to Totnes, Dartmouth, beautiful unspoilt beaches and Dartmoor National Park.
The cabin is fully self contained and cosy, with one room and an open plan kitchen and a wet room with underfloor heating. It is light airy and very well insulated. Perfect for 2 people. We have equipped the cabin well with everything you will need for your stay, with little touches that will make your stay comfortable. It is beautifully and tastefully decorated. You have your own private cottage garden, kitchen with butler sink; washing machine; fridge freezer and small cooker. There is a new and comfortable sofa bed with a slatted wooden base, just like a real bed and fresh clean linen and Egyption cotton towels are provided. There is sunny deck outside to chill out and enjoy the peace, the birds singing and the wonderful views. There views from the cabin are of rural green and lush Devon. There are plenty of local pubs with great food. Many interesting walks in the green lanes and rolling landscape of Devon. On arrival we give you breakfast of croissant, jam and butter, fresh orange juice, tea, fresh coffee, milk and fresh flowers.
Our small village is well known for its wonderful community feel with sports days etc. A wonderful pub in the village serving great food. It is very quiet and peaceful. You will be woken only by the birds singing. In the heart of rural Devon, we have loads of picturesque walks and the stunning views in every direction, whether it is the river with the seals and egrets, the sea in the distance or the wild moors. We have a lovely old church straight out of Jane Austin. If you love the beach life we are close to beautiful and unspoilt beaches and close by are the best waves in South Devon Bantham Beach where you can learn to surf at Bantham Surf Academy, Dartmouth for sailing, Totnes for shopping and the brilliant and unique Friday market, the wild and spectacular Dartmoor National Park is also close. A great place to rest and recharge your batteries.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cornworthy. The village is absolutely beautiful and the cabin is idillyc. The owners really have thought of everything you could possibly need! It was so peaceful and the perfect place to stay for a relaxing getaway. We would highly recommend staying here!

  • Lovely space, charmingly done up with a beautiful garden to use and everything needed for a relaxing stay in Devon.

  • Jo and Tony's place was great and had everything we needed. We had a bit of trouble finding the cabin but once we got there we had a very comfortable stay. Perfect spot to explore Dartmouth and beyond.

  • We were welcomed with lovely breakfast goodies to a very tastefully decorated little cabin. The attached garden was adorable. Living in a big city, we were enchanted with the lush rural tranquility. Our hosts were there for chats and otherwise unobstrusive. A bijou paradise.

    Julia2015-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • On our arrival Jo and Tony were in holidays, but a friendly girl showed us the cabin. We were very impressed that the cabin is handmade. It is very cute and homelike and there is everything what you need for cooking - pans, pots and even oil. They put fresh flowers from the beautiful garden on a table. And they also provide breakfast for our stay by putting some things in the fridge. The cabin is perfect to relax and calm down.

  • Cornworthy is a beautiful village in the South Devon countryside. It's very peaceful and tranquil, perfect for our week away. The accommodation was well furnished and very tastefully done. It was a little smaller than we expected but as we were out most of the day this was no problem. Jo and Tony were lovely hosts.

This property was previously run by Ben of West Country Lets, I have just taken this over and unfortunately cannot bring across any of the reviews from the previous listing but have included the most recent ones in the photo section. Just minutes walk from the centre of bustling market town, Totnes, Garden Cottage is hidden away down a quiet street with no through traffic. It's beautifully fitted and furnished complete with a wood burning stove and has a delightful private garden.
Although just a few minutes walk from the centre of the bustling market town of Totnes, Garden Cottage is hidden away down a quiet street with no through traffic and the loudest sound is usually the birds in the trees. There is a private parking space and then you approach the cottage through its private and very sunny garden. Totnes is a fantastic base to explore South Devon. It has a great selection of shops, cafes and restaurants but is also close to some fantastic beaches and the wild open spaces of Dartmoor. There are also some great walks from the door. The cottage was originally the changing rooms for a tennis court that belonged to the grand house next door, but it has been beautifully and tastefully converted into a luxurious cottage perfect for a couple. However one additional adult or child can be accommodated on the sofa bed in the open plan sitting room and kitchen. There is a good sized open plan living room with a stylish galley kitchen, dining table and chairs, comfortable sofa, flat-screen wall-mounted TV, Wifi internet connection and a wood burning stove. Beyond that you reach the large and very bright double bedroom. The bedroom has a king-sized (6ft) double bed. Next door to the bedroom is a luxury bathroom with a walk-in shower. The well-equipped kitchen has utensils and crockery chosen with real care. There's also a washing machine, dishwasher, free wifi and a flat-screen TV. The cottage has its own private parking space (a rarity in Totnes) but is also only 15 minutes walk from Totnes mainline station with direct trains to Bristol, London and beyond. There are also some fantastic walks and bike rides from the door. The walk/bike ride up the hill to the Sharpham Estate is particularly recommended and you can combine that with a visit to taste some of the excellent local wines at Sharpham Vineyard.
A bustling medieval market town on a beautiful river with great walking, canoeing and swimming and just a few miles from fabulous beaches or Dartmoor. What's not to like?
  • This beautiful little cottage was the perfect size for two, so homely, and had a gorgeous garden area out front. We were welcomed with all the necessities and a bottle of red wine. Great value for money and would definitely come again. Thank you Alex for a wonderful stay.

This charming and light-filled house is tastefully furnished and has great views across Totnes to Windmill Hill. Though just yards from Totnes High Street, it's hidden away and very peaceful. The main living space has big glass windows and a balcony where you can sit out and enjoy the view. It also has its own private parking space (rare in central Totnes), gas central heating, 2 good sized double bedrooms and an extra double sofa bed available on the mezzanine floor.
The highlight of the house is the high-ceilinged light-filled sitting room with its views of Windmill Hill. The main part of the house is on the first floor with a large open plan kitchen, dining area & sitting room. Also on this floor are the main bedroom (overlooking the courtyard), a recently fitted bathroom with a fabulous walk-in shower and another separate toilet. From the first floor, steps lead up to the mezzanine floor with a double futon, lots of light from two Velux windows (with blinds) and a desk. The house also has gas central heating, wifi and its own private off-street and covered parking space. The second bedroom is on the ground floor (you have to go outside briefly to reach it) with a ziplink bed (1 double or twin beds) and is almost completely self-contained with its own toilet and separate shower room, TV and kettle. Perfect for a couple or for a bit of separation from a teenager or two!
Heather's home is located in Totnes, England, United Kingdom. Although very peaceful the apartment is just 30 seconds walk from The Narrows, the nicest old section of Totnes High Street with great shops, cafes & restaurants. Totnes itself is a bustling medieval market town on a beautiful river with great walking, canoeing and swimming and just a few miles from fabulous beaches or Dartmoor. What's not to like?

  • Lovely, lovely room. Bed to die for. Sofa to curl up on. Shower of your own and a v peaceful place to stay. Lynne made me very welcome as my first time using AirBnb... and it was just what I needed. Highly recommend.

    Maggie2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne's place is lovely, her and her family were really welcoming even offering me lifts to where I was going. The room is really comfortable and Lynne's thought of everything you need to make your stay as pleasant as possible. It's also spotlessly clean! Breakfast was great too, so nice to have the choice of fresh fruit. Highly recommend!

    Melanie2017-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne was a great host - very welcoming and open. She is very sensitive to the needs of different guests - if you want your privacy she will leave you alone. The room is lovely and spacious with bright and quirky decoration, including fairy lights and wildflower paintings by a local artist. The room comes with a large and very comfortable bed, sofa, TV, and drink making facilities. There is a shower room with toilet and sink just across the room and is for the sole use of the guests. Breakfast was served in Lynne's lovely open planned dining/living area. All in all, this a fantastic place to stay and I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

  • Unfortunately I never got to stay with Lynne and her family as my flight got cancelled last minute so I had to cancel my mini-trip to Dartmoor. Lynne has been more than kind to me, immediately offered to give me a full refund despite the fact that I had to cancel last minute! Next time I will be traveling to Totnes and Dartmoor (which I do on a regular basis) I'm looking forward to staying with Lynne and her family! Again: Thank you, Lynne! :)

  • One of my best Airbnb experiences I've had. Lynne and Dave are both very friendly and kind, and helpful - but also sensitive and happy to give you privacy. The room itself is beautiful with a very comfy bed, a desk, a couch, and a TV. It even has a little set so that you can make yourself some tea while relaxing. Would recommend highly!

    Kevin2017-03-08T00:00:00Z

  • We loved our stay in the Gilpin's cabin, the cabin itself is lovely and really well equipped from wifi, hairdryer, local maps, table games to a very functional shower, comfy beds and sofas, very warm and cosy to the small but well equipped kitchen and the wooden patio, the black out blinds ensured a good night sleep, very peaceful and quiet. The host gave us a very warm welcome and ensured we had everything we needed, they gave us the tour and explained all then left us alone. It a perfect stay for the two of us and a great location for exploring Dartmoor National park and the coastal towns of Devon.

  • Lovely and cosy, with hosts in evidence when needed, which is a magic gift. Not a place to stay for anyone with mobility issues - loft ladders. Super central for this part of Devon. Take a good map if you don't want to queue on the main roads. Totnes is SOO Totnes.

    Nick2016-09-04T00:00:00Z

Peaceful wooden log cabin in our garden in town. Access to kitchen and downstairs bathroom in the main house and to gardens. You will have keys to both the log cabin and the house. Ample on street parking with permit.
Peaceful log cabin in a town garden looking out onto small veggie patch. Insulated roof and floor, electric heater and hot water bottles to keep you cosy through the winter.
Totnes is a great small town full of independent shops as well as having fun weekend markets. There's a strong alternative culture which means we have excellent eateries and great entertainment. There's also access to beautiful beaches and the moors if you have a car. There are lots of cycle routes (you can hire cycles locally) and you can walk to both Dartington (music, cinema, beautiful gardens and Schumacher College) and Sharpham (local wines and cheeses).
  • Colin and his wife Helen were very welcoming and seasoned Airbnb hosts. With an excellent breakfast, shower and a generally chilled out style.

  • Our stay with Colin and Helen was wonderful. They are such nice and caring people, they made us feel so welcome. It was such a treat to see the cabin, its a lovely space with a calm atmosphere and has a lovely spot in the garden. We had use of the kitchen, and the guest bathroom was very clean and fitted with a wonderful bath and shower. We felt right at home with the hosts and their home. I would love to come back.. Thanks you guys.

  • Colin and his wife are wonderful hosts. The cabin is really confortable and warm enough (heating in the cabin). I felt like I was in the middle of the nature and thir house is really close to Totnes town center and the train station. Colin and her wife make me feel like I was part of the family. I wish I had stayed longer. Thanks!

  • Colin and Helen were very welcoming. We arrived very late and Colin was still waiting for us offering tea and some refreshments. The little house in the garden is so quiet you would think you are middle of nowhere. The best how can i describe it with my daughter's words- I slept here like Sleeping Beauty so deep and well. (She is only 7 ))). If you can book this place do not hesitate - you would have no regrets! Thank you for Colin, Helen and Ash the beautiful labradoodle for the warm welcome!

  • Colin and his family were incredibly friendly. The cabin was kept spotlessly clean. The location is ideal, just a few minutes walk from the high street shops and sites of interest. In a beautiful part of the country, the cabin was a unique and amazing experience. Would definetely return and recommend to anyone looking to stay in Totnes. Amazing property with equally outstanding hosts. Waking up with a view of the garden and trees every morning was wonderful, will definetely return.

  • Colin and Helen made us feel very welcome in there wonderful little Log cabin. It was just as described, comfortable, warm and surrounded by wonderful garden. We were very well looked after with great breakfast, good conversation and recommendations of things to see in the area. I would highly recommend this space to anyone visiting the Totnes area. We will definitely visit again. Thanks Colin!

Stone built, single storey central, light, airy, secluded cottage. One large room with fitted kitchen area, sofa, double bed & folding single bed. Separate shower room/wc/sink. DVD. Wifi. Use of garden shared with owner.
A beautifully light and airy studio flat with stripped wooden floors & vaulted ceiling with wooden beams. It is tucked away at the end of the owner's garden at the top of Totnes town centre, with all the independent shops, cafes, traditional markets on the doorstep. It is in a completely private location through a small alleyway which leads to a flowery cottage garden shared with the owner. Most of the things you will need for a short or longer self catering stay such as washing machine, iron/ironing board, electric cooker/oven, TV/DVD, fridge and wifi are in the studio, where everything is for your exclusive use. The studio is powered by electricity, which has a coin meter needing £1 and £2 coins. Electricity is charged at the rate charged by the supplier (ie the same as I pay them). I am a keen gardener and love plants, although this doesn't necessarily mean that the garden is as tidy as I'd like it to be!
Totnes has a unique reputation for its alternative culture with a diverse range of arts and events at neaby Dartington Hall (2 miles) and the Schumacher College. There are beautiful walks along wooded valleys and the river Dart from the property, boat trips to Dartmouth in the summer season, and two local steam railways. South Hams' famous beaches are 12 miles from Totnes and Dartmoor National Park is about 8 miles.
  • The location was AMAZING, the garden is lovely, Biddy is lovely.

    Ivonete2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful resource; just a few minutes from town centre. Everything we needed. We were a little concerned with the thought of having to put coins in a meter for electricity - never having used one before - but this worked fine and was about £7 for a two day stay.

    Julie and Alan2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • If you like a quiet place to stay with a friendly host, and everything you need for a comfortable stay, you will enjoy your stay at Biddy's. Biddy is a caring, friendly host; she provides fruit, biscuits & flowers in the room to welcome you, and is helpful when needed, otherwise leaves you in peace. The location is excellent, being so close to the main street. You do need to allow for having to pay for parking and to have a few coins for the meter if it's a bit chilly.

    Barbara 2017-09-16T00:00:00Z

This beautifully restored romantic and private cottage has soul. It rises out of a hectare of tidal watermeadow river frontage and woodland. A wonderfully rich natural habitat. Carefully negotiate the stepping stones or walk over the hump-backed Bow Bridge to one of the two delightful pubs: The Watermans Arms or the renowned Maltsters Arms. Walk for miles in the South Hams network of cliff top, esturine and rural foot paths. Drive 30 mins to Bantham Beach or up to Hey Tor on Dartmoor.
The cottage is located in shared grounds with our family home. Although we share driveway space the cottage is set apart from our home which is a chocolate box 17th C thatched cottage. The cottage space is private and has its own private entrance and garden. The water meadow and all garden areas are yours to explore. We have recently included a heated outside shower underneath the weeping willow in the meadow and this is for the use of our guests. We love to meet our guests and have met the most wonderful folk but we are all too aware of the need for privacy and personal downtime so you can see us as little or as much as you like. We are happy to provide information on the local area and good day trips.
The cottage is located just beside Bow Bridge which is located between Ashprington and Tuckenhay in countryside by The River Dart. By car a 10-15 minute drive to Totnes or a 20 minute drive to Dartmouth, Harbertonford is around 10 minutes also. The cottage is located just by the river, where the Harbourne starts to open up to meet the Dart, walking distance to three pubs and the wonderful local Sharpham vineyard is just up the road also.
  • Beautiful rural location with nature right there all around you. This lovely little cottage is fitted out to a high standard. Emma and Sid are great hosts but also allow you the privacy you require. Other reviews say it all!

  • Cozy, comfortable, clean, quiet - an outstanding accommodation. If you want to feel pampered in a gorgeous setting, this is the place. Emma and Sid are perfect hosts.

  • What a gem!! We had a wonderful 4 night stay last week. I would never get sick of the view from the bedroom out over the water meadow. The cottage is perfect for a relaxing couple retreat. And the surrounding area is gorgeous, lovely for walking. Definitely recommend Ben's Farm Shop (Riverford Farm Shop) for picking up supplies. We would love to stay again. Thank you Emma & Sid.

  • Wonderful house in a secluded location with all of the peace and tranquility promised. The drive into the cottage is not for the faint of heart but you quickly feel comfortable sharing the country roads with the friendly locals and the sights and hidden villages are worth it. The cottage quickly becomes your home away from home and we equally enjoyed our time touring and our time relaxing at the cottage.

    Jacqueline2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • This truly was a wonderful place for a quiet celebration of our wedding anniversary. The charming cottage was spotless, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Peaceful surroundings were a major plus, and really helped us to relax and enjoy ourselves. Other highlights were the warm but not intrusive presence of Sid and Emma, the open air shower, and being able to walk across the meadow to the pub. We recommend the cottage highly, and will definitely stay there again.

    Andrew2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying here and what a place it is. The cottage its self is small and cozy perfect for a couple but the plot it sits on is spectacular! We had breakfast both mornings in the cottages private garden overlooking the vast water meadow. There are also lovely views of the surrounding hills. Emma and Sid were great and were very helpful and the home made gluten free flapjacks where a lovely surprise.

    sonny2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is lovely and cosy. It has everything you need for a break and having Emma and Sid as hosts is the icing on the cake! They are such amazing hosts who give you space to enjoy yourselves but always available if you need information regarding activities, restaurants/pubs etc in the surrounding area. We were welcomed with a freshly baked cake upon arrival which was just what we needed after a long drive in the rain to Devon. We also arrived late so we didn't get a chance to do any shopping but Emma and Sid came to our rescue the following morning and left a basket with bread, bacon and eggs by our front door for us to make breakfast. This was very kind and lovely of them as the breakfast wasn't included on our bill. I highly recommend Stepps Cottage. It is the perfect place to spend the weekend (or longer) if you want to unwind and relax. There is also a lot to do in the local area if you want to explore (ask Emma and Sid for suggestions and they will point you in the right direction).

  • We had a fantastic time in and around the little holiday house of Emma and Sid! We very much enjoyed the garden, the river and the estuary. And it was a pleasure to meet such friendly hosts, who made the stay a real highlight of our holidays.

Welcome to our quiet, rural, friendly home in beautiful Dartington. Small, rustic but cosy, self-contained annexe. King-size bed, dining area, kitchen/cooker, small shower-room, wifi own front entrance. Garden-view. Beautiful beaches walks Totnes and Dartmoor. This is our guests' space and totally private.
Our annexe is not huge, and quite rustic (not like a luxurious hotel room - but more interesting and much less costly!) but very cosy with solid wood, king-size bed which overlooks the garden and huge oak trees. There is a kitchen area with a cooker, fridge/sink and you have your own small shower room and own separate front door, so you can come and go as you like. You also have your own parking space. It is a perfect base to get out and about to explore the local area. We are on the outskirts of beautiful Dartington in a quiet area surrounded mostly by open countryside. Dartington House and Gardens are within walking distance - the gardens are free to visit and there is a cafe and even a cinema in a barn! There are lovely cycle paths, and walks locally on the Dartington Estate, and the very unique and picturesque Totnes town is a 5 minute drive away. This area is renowned for its beautiful beaches such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands, only a 20 minute drive away, and Dartmoor is also close by within a half an hour drive. The beautiful River Dart and all it has to offer is within walking distance, as is the well known Cider Press - shops at Dartington. The Cott Inn, one of the oldest thatched pubs in Britain is a 10 minute walk away also and there are many many other interesting and beautiful attractions to visit. Local cafes and restaurants are many, varied and character-full and we are happy to advise on places to go. I keep the price very reasonable as it is a perfect place for a break and a base for exploring the area. It's not a huge space so please don't expect that. It is small, friendly, private and part of my home. I like to welcome people and help them to have a fun and rewarding trip.

  • We stayed one night in Katherine's annexe and had a lovely night. I liked the room with its clean and simple but tasteful layout - we had everything we needed and found space to put our 3 year old son's bedding on the floor next to the bed. Katherine greeted us and was very helpful. We'd happily stay again.

    Matthew2016-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We just spent one night in Katherine's self contained annex, very convenient, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. It was great to be able to make our breakfast in the room as we were getting up reasonably early. Katherine was very friendly and flexible.

Luxury secluded basement apartment. Situated an easy two minute level walk to the famous Totnes High Street and Castle. The tranquility and beauty of the River Dart just five minutes from your door. Beautifully furnished throughout with intimate outdoor space. A special getaway for romance, adventure, business or sanctuary.
Just a few minutes walk from the centre of the unique market town of Totnes, Landour Down is a hidden sanctuary along a quiet private lane with no through traffic. There is parking with the property and a private and secluded entrance to this delightful basement apartment. The apartment has been furnished to provide an inviting and special getaway for guests, whether for a romantic weekend, a base to explore the moors, coasts, towns and rivers of South Devon or a peaceful sanctuary from life. Ideally suited for singles or couples, however, two additional adults or children can be accommodated on the sofa-bed in the spacious open plan living area. The airy living area has a modern and well-equipped kitchen, dining table and chairs, comfortable sofa, flat-screen TV and open fire. Double patio doors lead onto a small but private outdoor garden space with table, chairs and outdoor lighting. A unique feature of the apartment is the air-filtering ventilation system which keeps the air crisp and fresh. The apartment's heating system is also modern and efficient, ensuring a comfortable stay whatever the weather outside! Through the hall is a travellers hub with games, books, local information and your own iPad, pre-loaded with NETFLIX, SKY TV, a vast array of music from Spotify and Tidal and games for the kids. WiFi is free and available throughout the apartment. The double bedroom has a beautiful copper double bed and warm teak retro styling. At the end of the hall, is a modern bathroom with walk-in shower and some tempting samples from one of our local hand made aromatherapy companies.
Totnes is well known for its arty and alternative reputation and has a great selection of diverse shops, cafes and restaurants (Totnes is famous for its incredible array of foodie heaven options). Totnes is also nestled in some of Devon's prettiest countryside on the banks of the breathtaking River Dart and is close to some fantastic beaches, the wild open spaces of Dartmoor and makes a fantastic base to explore South Devon. There are also some lovely walks and bike rides from the door. The walk/bike ride to the Sharpham Estate is particularly recommended and you can combine that with a visit to taste some of the award wining local wines at Sharpham Vineyard.

  • This apartment is perfectly located close to Totness and a good location for exploring Devon. It is very well equipped with everything that you will need for your stay including an IPad, bath robes and hot drinks. I would definitely recommend a stay here. You won't be disappointed.

  • This was a perfect place as a base for our five-day stay in South Devon. It was really handy for walking into Totnes. The accommodation was very comfortable, everything we needed was provided and Neil and Jane were very friendly and helpful. The flexibility of being able to book any number of days suited us very well as we wanted to stay from Wednesday to Monday. We would definitely recommend this lovely place to family and friends. Thank you Neil and Jane.

  • This is a perfect base from which to explore Totnes and Devon. The apartment is very warm and cosy, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need. It is in a very quiet area of town, but just a two minute walk to the high street. Neil and Jane very kindly let us have one of their parking spaces, which made life very convenient for us. They live upstairs and are very knowledgeable about the area, so are on hand if you need advice about anything. The weather wasn't suitable for sitting outside, but there is a little terrace for summer months, equipped with table and chairs. Totnes is such a nice place to visit - loads of quirky shops and great pubs and restaurants, plus it is easy to get to other places like Dartmouth and Dartmoor. We will definitely go back if we are in the area again.

  • You cannot go wrong staying with Suzanne. I liked the room so much I stayed twice. Suzanne is a warm and lovely host, who takes joy in little extra touches and genuine care. Five star service.

    Abel2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay at Suzanne's , she is a lovely host , we had really nice chats and at the same time I had lots of privacy that I also needed . He room was lovely , the bed very comfy, nice views onto totnes . There is a spar shop nearby, it is a 15-20 minute walk into the town , and totnes is worth a visit anyway - very nice quirky little town with lots of smaller interesting shops as well as cafes and restaurants . Thanks Suzanne for this wonderful stay ❤️

  • I would recommend Suzanne's place without reservations: the bed is comfortable and warm, the room spacious, bright and clean. The house is in a quiet neighbourhood, at a walking distance from High Street. Suzanne is for sure the best host I've ever met: she got in touch with me before my arrival, kindly gave me a lift to her house from the train station, and made sure I had everything I needed.

  • I highly recomend staying at Suzanne's house. It is a walkable distance from the town centre, however the neighbourhood is very quiet. Suzanne is a great host, she is frie dly and kind and made me feel very welcomed and comfortable, giving me all the privacy I needed. She has prepared a kitchen cupboard full of products I could use for breakfast, she even put the flowers in my room and on breakfast trey, which was very sweet;)The room was clean, bright and quiet and the bed was super comfy. Totnes is a stunning town, I would love to return one day and will definitely stay at Suzanne's place again;)

My place is close to great views, the country side, Dartmoor and the River Dart. Dartington Hall nearby is known for its art and culture. You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed, the cosiness, and the views. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. It has good road, bus and train links. The train station is on a main line.
  • Sarah was a lovely and welcoming host, and very accommodating given I changed my dates several times! She was easy to talk to and I felt very comfortable and welcome. The house and the room is clean and beautiful and the bed is very comfy, I would definitely recommend it!

  • Very good value and walkable to Dartington Hall where I attended the Ways With Words festival, also a lovely walk along the river into Totnes: 25 mins to either. Characterful room with a gorgeous slipper bath under the skylight.

  • Received a lovely warm welcome from Sarah, Derek and their two gorgeous little dogs. I was staying whilst on a 3 day course on the Dartington estate, which was an easy short drive away. The room is charming and peaceful, tucked away at the top of the house. You need to be fairly nimble to navigate the beams and sloping ceilings, but this was no problem for me. Parking is a few hundred yards up the road, so I recommend you bring a wheely case!

  • Sarah is a lovely host, very welcoming and told me all she knew about the area. Incredibly good value as the room was large, tastefully furnished and little touches which added to its ambience. The room was centrally heated, the bed very comfortable, and it was very quiet, you could not hear the traffic or any noise from other parts of the house. Breakfast was relaxed in the kitchen which has french doors leading to a pretty garden. I highly recommend staying there.

Surrounded by countryside in the beautiful hamlet of Week in Dartington Village, lies a characterful two-bedroomed semi-detached cottage comprising: master bedroom, bathroom, twin bedroom, a large living room, a separate shower room/toilet and a large kitchen with gas-fired Aga. The spacious garden features a lawn sun-trap with table for al fresco dining and a large and peaceful apple orchard with stream.
Tucked away on a narrow lane cul de sac this property is ideal for families, couples and friends seeking the peace and quiet of the countryside. We also welcome business guests.
We are just one mile from historic Dartington Hall with its famous gardens, independent cinema, café and packed cultural and artistic programmes such as the Dartington Summer School of Music concerts or the Ways with Words Literary Festival. We are three miles from the bustling town of Totnes on the River Dart, with its Friday market and river-boat trips on the Dart estuary to the historic town of Dartmouth. The location is perfect for visiting both the spectacular landscapes of Dartmoor and the stunning south Devon beaches such as Bantham, South Milton, Hope Cove and Slapton, all of which are just a half to three-quarter hour drive away. Closer still is the Dart Valley Steam Railway, Pennywell Farm, the Otter and Butterfly Sanctuary in Buckfastleigh and the Rare Breeds Farm in Totnes.
  • Amazing!! Peter's cottage is very beautiful, cosy, spacious, well decorated and equipped. The garden is large and along with the orchard is perfect for relaxing and to be explored by the little ones. Perfect neighborhood surrounded by nature. Peter is an outstanding host. Very approachable, friendly, helpful and kind, even though our little man has made some unexpected noise or mess. He got our luggage in advance and handed us the cottage extremely clean, with fresh apples from the orchard and some welcome supplies for breakfast. Also his family’s story is attached to Dartington’s story. It was a pleasure stay in his cottage. Definitely a Super Host!

    Andre2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Peter was a great host with lots of knowledge about the local area. The house is a lovely old farmhouse with a great kitchen and aga. Very cosy and comfortable and a great spot to pass a rainy afternoon. We'll be back!

    Simon2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The place was idyllic and serene. We loved the garden as our sunny days were bathed in sunlight and calm. We in fact stayed a whole day in the garden with a table of tea and food. Quiet and a spot with aspects of Devon horizons. Starry nights and an Aga that was a joy to cook with and be next to in the generous sized kitchen. The lounge room was a favourite space to feel warm, safe and especially cozy. Tree walled and a real sense of space and quiet. Peter is wonderfully hospitable and warm. Local knowledge associating with artistic taste really appealed to us. We will be back.

  • We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful long weekend away at the Lodge in Totnes, for our daughter's 2nd birthday. We were made to feel very welcome by our hosts, Paul and Carol and the accommodation and amenities were exactly as described. The Lodge is extremely comfortable, well equipped and has lots of space both inside and out for kids to run around and wear themselves out. We loved it so much here in fact that we have not stopped raving about it - my parents are already considering booking it for a few nights in the near future. In short, a fantastic getaway location for families and couples alike.

  • We could not have stayed in a better location in this lovely city! Only a short walk from town, but just far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet, our group of 5 had a great week at The Lodge. Paul was a welcoming and very accommodating host - he was very understanding and flexible noting that we had travelled from Australia for a wedding, left some delicious food to get us started and gave some great tips on what to see and do, where to shop and how to find what we needed. On a functional level, the lodge sleeps 6 comfortably, the shower was hot with pressure, everything worked and the living area was comfortable and spacious. Thanks Paul for having us!

  • We did not meet Paul as he was on holiday but the lodge was fully prepared for us and he had communicated with us, with plenty of time to arrange getting the key. The Lodge was perfect for us and the outside decking was such a sun trap. We had a very nice time there and would fully recommend Totnes and this as a place to stay. Thank you.

  • The Lodge was the perfect place for me to spend a few days relaxing with friends around my birthday. Paul and his family were perfect hosts and everything was exactly as described. He even offered to accommodate a couple of surprise extra guests in his camper van for one night. Highly recommended!

  • We stayed two weeks in the Lodge. It was just perfect. The Lodge itself is well equipt and situated in a beatiful garden just outside Totnes. It is a short walk to Totnes, but still rural and on a heritage trail. You can explore from the place you live. It is also easy to get to the coast (which is fantastic) and to the hills of Dartmoor. Our hosts were most welcoming and helpful. We could not have had a better time in Devon. We would love to return.

  • We had a fabulous time at The Lodge. The house has everything you need and the hosts really went out of their way to make us comfortable. It's surrounded by lovely gardens but also really handy for central Totnes. Our party included a baby, a 1yr old, a 2yr old and a 4yr old. They loved Pauls garden (there was even a slide and swings and ride-on toys). Paul adjusted the arial to find CBBC, came to my rescue at midnight when I was lost, replaced a broken microwave at 8am, put toys out for our kids...I could go on.

    Sally2016-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really great base for a walking holiday with walks right from the door or just to explore South Devon and Dartmoor. A quiet spot on the edge of town and easy to walk in to explore Totnes. The chalet was lovely and warm and now benefits from efficient wifi so you can find out local activities of which there are many. It might be a bit too cosy for 6 adults as the twin rooms are narrow and lounge has seating for 4/5 but okay for 4 plus kids. Paul was so helpful and always available if needed. A lovely holiday.

My cottage is just off the main road about halfway between Dartington and Totnes, within easy walking distance to both and very convenient for Dartmoor or the beaches of south Devon. In the property there is a well equipped kitchen, a small sitting room with a TV and wifi. The family bathroom with small bath is off the hallway. Up a flight of stairs is a double bedroom with ensuite shower room and a twin bedded room next door.
The outside space is west facing with table and chairs for sunny days and plenty of free parking space.
A few ideas for your stay. My suggestions for your visit would be Totnes Town and Dartington Hall about a mile away. Maybe book a table at the Cott restaurant - 10 minutes walk from the cottage. The beaches are about 20 minutes drive away -my favourites are Slapton Sands and Blackpool Sands but Bigbury is worth a trip too and there are many more. Many people love Dartmoor also 20 minutes drive away but in the other direction. The nearest shops are at Dartington about 15 minutes walk away, the post office and stores, a garage and a cafe a bit further along called the Almond Thief where they make their own bread. There are also the Dartington tourist shops. The biggest supermarket is Morrison's, near the bottom of Totnes Main Street. Dartmouth, Plymouth and Exeter are also interesting places to visit. You can go down the river on a ferry to Dartmouth and back. There is almost too much choice but let me know if there is something specific that you would like to have more details about. Very best wishes, Susy
  • Dear Susy, it was such a lovely stay with you. Our kids were crying when we´re leaving. Your cottage is really cosy and you´re such a warm and helpful host!! Thank you for wonderful holidays!!

  • We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage. The location was perfect for us with lots to see and do nearby. We were made to feel very welcome and all had a lovely relaxing break.

    Mandy2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautifully decorated, comfortable and spotlessly clean. As our first experience of AirBnB we were very impressed. Susy was very welcoming, gave us great directions and a recommendation on a place to eat. We were very happy with and stay and would have loved to stay longer.

    Margaret2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem! The pictures on the profile doesn't justify the actual beauty of this place. We were promptly welcomed by Suzy with a warm hug and were given the keys to this neatly kept and well organised cottage. The place is perfect for group of friends or families alike. Its in close proximity to the beautiful totnes town (2 min away from totnes station) and 20 mins drive to the nearest Blackpool Sands beach (a beautiful pebble beach that's open to visitors throughout the day/night). Will I recommend this place? Absolutely Yes!

    Kim2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is just behind the owner's house, situated with views of her idyllic garden. The cottage is beautifully decorated, the host very kind. Flowers and a bottle of wine were on the kitchen table, and when the weather turned a bit chilly she texted to invite us to turn on the heating if we were cold. Just on the edge of Totnes, it is a short drive or a 15 minute walk into town. The Dartington Estate is across the road with it's lovely walk up to the Great Hall or along the cycle path to the Cider Press. All in all a lovely place to stay.

    Victoria2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very pretty, and served as the ideal base for exploring Dartmoor and visiting Plymouth. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided by Susy, who was such a friendly host. My wife and I also ate at the nearby Cott Inn which was a 10 min walk along the nearby lane. I'd highly recommend this cottage for anyone wanting to visit the area! We'd love to stay again! Thank you Susy!

  • We had the most magical stay in this truly idyllic and very luxurious cottage. Everything was perfect-amazingly hospitable hosts, John and Suzanne did everything to make our stay comfortable. The cottage is beautiful, and the views are as good if not better than in the pictures. We hope we will be able to come back again and again. It's perfect for getting into Totnes on foot, and if you have a car exploring the area too. The beds are really comfy, all mod cons etc, it was fab. Thank you John!

    Laura2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • We found the cottage easily following Johns good directions, he made us feel very welcome on our arrival. He fully explained how everything worked in the cottage and what there was to do in and around Totnes and beyond. The cottage was faultless, 5 star accommodation, warm, spotlessly clean, and fully equipped. We wished that we had booked longer, hope to return.

    Jean2015-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing place to stay and our host John was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The cottage was immaculately clean and well equipped and very comfortable. The views from the glazed gable ends are stunning and in the evenings we enjoyed a wonderful bat aerial display from our lofty viewing point. We will definitely be returning! Thank you John

  • Me and my girlfriend had a brilliant time at Fairlight last week. It was a perfect place for us to relax and to explore the south Hams area. The accommodation had everything we could ask for and the food essentials in the fridge hugely helped out our move in.

    Michael2015-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Garden House is really beautiful and so relaxing to stay in. It has everything you need, plus the most amazing views! John was great at explaining the area and recommended really interesting places to visit. The house is very well located for exploring Devon. I'd definitely recommend!

  • We had an amazing stay at John's cottage! It is even better than the photos... the views are so dramatic and gorgeous. I honestly fell in love with Devon and Totnes. John was a great host - gave us a ton of ideas on things to do when we checked in. Top ideas: the Italian Kitchen for dinner (book ahead - amazing dinner) and a local winery... The cottage was clean, equipped with everything we needed and good water pressure in the shower. :-) I hope we can stay here again!

    Kelaine2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful new house to stay in. John, welcomed us and explained the working of all the electronics and had left food to make breakfast (including Dorset Cereal, who I happen to work for!). The place is sparklingly clean and fresh but even this pales compared to the view across the countryside, visible via the large upstairs windows. So easy to relax there. The walk into Totnes is only 10 minutes (although be aware of the uphill nature of the return journey) and was a great base to explore the town during our brief stay. Definitely recommended!

    Luke2015-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • John is a great host. The cottage has spectacular views out the many windows. Devon countryside, sheep, Dart River. A real jewel run by a very classic couple. We would love to stay here again!

In keeping with alternative Totnes, cosy Meadow Cottage is decorated in an eco friendly retro style to remind you of carefree times, but with all the modern home comforts you would also expect. Only 5 mins walk from the town centre and close to the river Dart it is in a peaceful, traffic free, semi-rural location surrounded by trees & birds with nearby walks. Bed 2 can be set up as a double or 2 singles. There is a great sunny outside space for drinks or supper under the stars.
The paints we chose when decorating are Auro - environmentally friendly, soft, colours and the soft furnishings used include vintage Ercol, Heals, Dartington Hall Tweed throws and original vintage materials and works of art. The bed linen is unbleached organic cotton in keeping with the eco-friendly atmosphere of Totnes itself. We hope you enjoy the nostalgic feel of the house as much as we enjoyed creating it. Whilst maintaining the nostalgic feel of the cottage there is also Wifi, smart TV, dishwasher, coffee machine and washer-dryer which help towards a restful holiday we hope.
  • This is a gorgeous cottage. Bigger than it looks on the photos it's in an incredibly quiet and private location (no houses directly opposite or behind) yet is only 5 mins walk to the bottom of Fore St, or 10 min walk to the top of the High St via a different route. The cottage itself is impressively done out. Everything inside is of the highest standard and brand new (I was their first booking). My favourites included the power shower, the lovely cosy gas fire in the living room, the down bedding and high quality sheets (Francesca is happy to switch bedding for feather allergies). The kitchen was fully equipped with pretty much everything you might find at home - none of that "muddling along" you normally get in a self-catering kitchen. They've thought of pretty much everything. Francesca and Michael were very welcoming and responded promptly if there was anything I needed during my stay - yet left me alone completely the rest of the time. I couldn't ask for more. The only downsides are that the outdoor seating is in a garden that's shared with next door, and parking is very limited. You can drive right up to the cottage door to load and unload which is great but after that I'd recommend leaving a car in a local long-stay car park rather than waste time looking for parking spaces that are too few & far between. I loved my stay here so much I very nearly extended to 2 weeks - it was perfect and ticked the boxes in so many ways - quality, hosts, location, peace & quiet, excellent wifi, a real "home from home". I'd definitely stay again.

My home , 1 Western Villas, is 10 minutes walk from the railway station and 2 minutes from the High Street. It is situated in the heart of the vibrant town of Totnes and there is a great view of the castle from your room. You'll share the house with me, my teenagers, a dog and cat but you 'll have your own private attic retreat with an ensuite plus your own mini fridge , toaster and tea & coffee making facilities. Tea, coffee, bread, fruit & spreads provided. Parking for a small car possible.

  • Perfect location and delightful room with everything I needed. So nice to stay somewhere and feel the care, thought and attention to detail. What a great view to wake up to. Also, anyone who knows that real coffee matters instantly wins my heart. Many thanks.

  • The house is right in the centre of Totnes. Perfect location. Great views. And Rebecca was a perfect host. She has arranged things so you can be completely independent. EG there's an en-suite and a mini fridge and, more unusually, breakfast every day on a tray delivered the evening before. So getting up before dawn? staying in bed til noon? - no problemo! This is really nice. But at the same time she is always available and really friendly and helpful and always ready to go the extra mile. It is also very quiet, and the teenagers were very polite and barely noticeable.

  • Rebecca is the perfect host! As we were going to a wedding celebration, she allowed us to check in and out at a time that suited us and she even picked us up and drove us back to the station! And the room has the most gorgeous view up to the castle and down in the valley. The setting is great, close to the main street. Still, it is a very quiet place, and we slept like logs. We can warmly recommend Rebecca´s B&B. We will be back soon(URL HIDDEN)

A holiday home for all seasons. 4 bright and spacious rooms with three double beds and three singles, plus a small single room. Beautiful gardens. Well-equipped kitchen. Outstanding views. Beaches, shops, walks, history within easy reach.
A large, beautiful family home designed by architect Foulston. Well stocked kitchen with all the equipment you could ever need. A dining room with a Rayburn oven and long table. Large sitting room with TV, DVD player, books, CDs and DVDs. Shower room, WC, smaller kitchen and utility room in right wing of house. Two staircases. Upstairs are four large, high ceiling bedrooms, a smaller fifth single bedroom and 2 bathrooms. Gardens to side and rear. Verandah to sip drinks under. Off-road parking for 2-3 cars - a must in bustling Totnes!
Totnes is one of the finest towns in England, full of history, character and shops you'll find nowhere else. The 'South Hams' is one of the most beautiful areas in the UK, with exceptional beaches, rivers, moors. Moor House is ideally positioned for all of these - so if it is too wet for the beach (it happens!) you have tons of other options. Highlights within a short stroll include... an amazing Norman Castle, the mediaeval Guildhall and 'Butterwalk', Dartington Hall - a world centre for arts and culture, plus excellent cafes and restaurants. Seeds 2 is the best vegetarian start-up in Totnes since Cranks many years ago. Or you can go right up the lane from our front door and you get to an iron age fort - or a little further, a ruined castle.
  • The host was very good at communicating. The place was exactly as listed and neighbourhood was perfect

    Rick2015-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house was really great - spacious, clean and really well situated for access to both Totnes and the beautiful surrounding countryside. There was parking for two cars up a driveway and lots of room both inside and in the lovely gardens. Towels, milk, sugar and all the other basics were all provided and everything was ready to use. Matthew made a real effort to make us feel welcome, getting in contact as required, arranging a travel cot for our youngest boy and making sure everything was ready for us to walk in and use. There were also comprehensive and nicely written notes left for us on the house and the local area We'd definitely stay again....

    Niall2015-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at the Moor House. Everything was very well arranged and Matthew was very swift and informative in his communication (as was the housekeeper in Totnes). It's really a fabulous house with more than enough room for several families. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are good, the garden is great (we loved the cricket), and with 3 bathrooms we had no problems during rush hour in the morning. Totnes and the surroundings brought more than enough things to do. We especially liked the Startpoint Lighthouse and the Darthmour Paddle Steamer boot trip. If you are looking for a genuine English villa in Devon: this is the place to be!

    Joost2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect host, perfect House, perfect holiday :-) Everything was exactely as we had hoped for, the House, the area etc. Matthew was very helpfull, an we felt welcome from Day one (thanks for milk and scones :-))

  • Beautiful house, lots of space, lovely garden. Excellent communication with host too. Would thoroughly recommend!

    Richard2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The house was beautifully prepared, with a Devon cream tea awaiting us, along with bread and milk The house was very well equipped, spacious, stylish and very comfortable. There are stunning views from the house and from the beautiful garden. It was a perfect location for our large family gathering and Matthew was a very considerate host.

    Paul2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is as described and communication with Matthew is generally smooth (despite a couple of hiccups i.e. message/s sent by Matthew somehow did not get to my airbnb inbox - unsure where the breakdown lies). The 'welcome pack' (milk, butter, clotted cream, jam and scones) is very thoughtful gesture by Nathhew and most appreciated by us. The house is spacious and the beds are very comfortable which offer great relief after tiring day trips. The only minor inconvenience is that the water pressure in one of the upstairs bathrooms is weak and some of us have to use the shower downstairs. (Note: The driveway up to the house is rather steep, as described, so please be cautious especially if it is on a wet day)

Our home is perfect for young children. It's a 3 bed semi with parking for 1 car and has a wood-burner. Beaches about 20 minutes away, surfing at Bantham beach about 45 minutes and stunning Dartmoor about 30 minutes away. Totnes is a fantastic Elizabethan town by the River Dart,it has museums, a Fri and Sat market, castle, main line train station, great pubs and loads of lovely places to eat. We have lots of toys to play with, a back garden, wifi, books and board games for you to enjoy.
Lived in, family house. Perfect for enjoying the beautiful South Hams. Our home has a lovely new woodburner to warm any night. The street we live in is particularly friendly and lots of children play out on the street with a hidden little hideaway at the end of the street for kids of all ages to enjoy. All mod cons, dishwasher, washing machine, tv, wifi, and a garage with a couple of surf boards.
Totnes is a fantastic town with lots to do, museums, great places to eat, shop, beaches 20 minutes away, Dartmoor about 30 minutes away. Thriving town with three micro pubs, tennis courts, leisure centre with swimming pool, lively music scene.

  • Wonderful house & situated just 5 minutes walk from the high street. Would definitely stay again & recommend Simon's lovely house

    Phyllis 2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Simon has a lovely place and Isla (our 2.5 year old daughter) loved the toys available. We had a great time and would definitely stay there again when we next come to Totnes.

    charlie2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • When we got there the house had just been cleaned and was very clean, so nice to arrive to after a long journey. Simon left a really helpful guide to the area. I also had to email him with a question while we were there and he was very responsive and got back quickly. I would definitely stay here again. It's also a great location - literally a two minute walk from the town centre and about half an hour's drive away from some lovely beaches.

    danni2016-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice comfortable family home in a great location. It was much closer to the centre of Totnes than we expected - three minutes' walk up a smallish hill and you're there. Pubs, restaurants and takeaways are all within easy reach, along with an extremely useful general store. We were really surprised at how quiet the location was, and enjoyed the view out over countryside. The house is well set up for children - wood floors, a trampoline in the garden, and lots of Playmobil to get busy with. It was a good practical house, where everything worked, and also a great place to relax.

Beautiful terraced house in the heart of quirky Totnes. There is a wood burner in the living room and an aga in the kitchen. Makes for a toasty stay in winter. The house has no outdoor space but literally a two minute walk away is the beautiful Vire Island park which is surrounded by the River Dart. Perfect for lounging around on sunny days when you want to enjoy the buzz and atmosphere of Totnes. My brother and his wife live in the Annexe at the back of the property, in the back yard.
To clarify what 1.5 bathroom means: Main family bathroom upstairs with free standing bath and separate shower cubicle. Downstairs toilet and washbasin just off the kitchen (no bath or shower). Just a two minute walk over the bridge and you'll find the bustling and always alternative Totnes high street. The train station is a 15 minute walk away so not necessary to have a car. Our house is a great base for exploring South Devon as it's half way between the Dartmouth and Salcombe areas and other the other hand there is Brixham and Torquay, we are slap bang in the middle.
Totnes is a historic, lively town on the River Dart. There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants to choose from. There are lots of independent shops, a twice week craft and food market plus easy access to the Southern Hams beaches, Dartmouth and Dartmoor for hiking opportunities.

  • This house is so warm, so welcoming and artistic but so easy to relax in. I loved the Aga and cooked a fabulous 'early Christmas dinner' with friends in it. We maybe needed a couple more kitchen utensils / dishes and a couple of hand / hair towls but this didn't prevent our enjoyment. The rooms are beautifully decorated, I loved all the driftwood mirrors and beams! The original features make it very special, we would love to return!

  • A beautiful house in the middle of Totnes. Very comfy beds and amenities nearby.

  • Penny-Leighs place is excellent, placed centrally in totnes, well appointed throughout and very comfortable, all at a reasonable price, I would happily stay here again timepiece. Penny-Leigh herself is very helpful, communication is excellent and quick, she is a great host.

  • Just returned from a lovely stay at 31 Bridgetown and we absolutely loved it. The house is really beautiful and tastefully decorated. There is loads of room, the beds are really comfy and the bathroom is wonderful. The kitchen is great, the aga keeps the house lovely and warm and was great for heating up our croissants. Thanks so much for a great stay in a fab house, we will be back.

  • The house is perfectly situated only a few mins walk from the town centre. Pauline's house has a beautiful and idyllic garden and the bedroom is clean and very cosy. The bed is extremely comfortable and the room even has tea making facilities! Pauline was extremely friendly and accommodating. She allowed me to store my bags at hers before check in time (I had cycled so didn't want to have to carry my gear around Totnes all day) and again after I had checked out so I was able to ride to stunning Dartmoor luggage free. Pauline also also provided a simple breakfast and kindly lent me her ordnance survey maps which greatly improved my Dartmoor ride!

  • Pauline's home is clean, with a calm atmosphere. It is well equipped and a pleasure to stay in. She has a beautiful garden. Pauline was relaxed and a very easy person to stay with. Her home is in a good location near to the centre of Totnes, 20 minute walk from the station.

  • What a great location - a starting point for walks in Totnes and from Totnes along the river to Dartington. Pauline is a warm and welcoming host and the room is comfortable with everything I needed. Gorgeous garden - thanks for the great September sunshine, Pauline. It only rained when I left!

  • Thomas is an absolute gentleman. Very welcoming and accomodating. He is not only a great host but a master chutney maker too! Thanks for the jar I took with me Tom. His kids are lovely too, very nice family. The house is perfectly located for Totnes and surrounding area, a stones throw from town so can walk yet the street is nice and quite. The back garden, which has apple trees, has a lovely view of the hills. I highly reccomend sitting out on the deck with your morning coffee and soaking in the surrounding scenery.

  • Tom offers simple accommodation in a quiet residential area within easy walking distance of the town centre - and on the bus route from Paignton. What you see on the airbnb website is what you get. What you don't see is the genuine and kind hospitality Tom provides. Breakfast is a help-yourself affair around the kitchen table - cereal, homemade bread and plunger coffee. Tom is a busy part-time dad who cares for two preschoolers - they are lively and engaging - and were very much part of my home-stay experience.

  • Lovely room, large and private, with a cozy feel and view of the garden. Easy walk to town and station. Margi is a wonderful host who gave just the right amount of attention and privacy to make this guest feel comfortable. I enjoyed our coffee time and conversation. My only regret is that my short stay didn't give me a chance for better weather to enjoy the balcony and garden. Next time!

  • Margi is the perfect hostess and the room is sooooo cosy and comfy and quite spacious, with lovely view of Margi's much-loved garden. It's like a little private annexe and Margi v respectful of privacy while very warm and friendly. Bedding really soft and well-chosen too. Handy for town centre, Very good value.

  • Margis place is wonderful, very cosy and had everything I needed. It provides a lot of privacy, but if you have any questions or need something, Margi was always available. The separate bathroom also was a big plus! It was also very easy to stay in contact, Margi prepared everything for a nice breakfast, she even got me lactose-free milk (Thank you so much!) and I could sit in her beautiful garden. I recommended it to friends and also, would come back any time!

This loft room is set in a lovely house just a 5 minute walk to the centre of vibrant Totnes. Totnes is an historic market town with its own Norman castle and bustling market on Fridays and Saturdays. The high street is full of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
Totnes has a vibrant, friendly community. There is so much to do and see here. We have our own independent cinema in the high street, two micro breweries as well as lots of cosy pubs and cafes. If you're into alternative therapies, you will be spoilt for choice here. Only a 30 minute walking trail away or 5 minute car ride is the world famous Dartington hall estate with its beautiful gardens, historic buildings, own cinema, cafe and restaurant, as well as an exciting programme of events throughout the year, including a literary festival, concerts, theatre and dance.
  • We had a really lovely stay in Kathryn and Guy's beautiful home, where we felt very comfortable indeed. Guy and Kathryn were incredibly hospitable and welcoming, giving local advice where needed, letting us help ourselves to basic drinks and snacks, and also leaving us to our own devices too. In particular, they were able to give us really good advice about activities in the area - we wanted to swim in the sea and Guy helped us figure out the best place to go, and even gave us a lift there the next morning, which we really appreciated since we were car-less. Thank you so much!!

    Joh2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay with Kathryn and Guy, the house is beautiful and they are the most warm, friendly and helpful hosts who make you feel so welcome from the moment you step through the door. The loft room was super comfy and quiet for a great nights sleep, fabulous big bathroom, and its easy walking distance from the high street... can't recommend them enough!

    Josie2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Kathryn and Guy's couldn't have been better. The whole house is exceptionally clean. The room is as advertised, very quiet at night and as bright as it gets in Devon. 5 minutes walk from the high street. The hosts are welcoming and kind.

  • Lovely stylishly decorated house in great location for town. Had a comfortable stay here, thanks. Couldn't have asked for more.

  • This is a great place to stay in Totnes as it's only a few minutes' walk to the town centre and to the station. It is a lovely house and Kathryn and Guy are very friendly and welcoming. My sister and I really enjoyed our stay as the loft room is very comfortable and quiet, and the bathroom is also very nice. I would definitely stay here again.

  • You arrive to a real family home feel here. Kathryn and Guy are relaxed and chatty and they have fab artwork throughout the house. You'll be helping yourself to tea and breakfast in their big kitchen looking out onto the lush garden. Great big bathroom. Thanks for letting me dry out all my soggy gear there after the Dart swim!

    Becky2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Its a lovely house beautifully decorated on a quiet street near to the town centre As all the other reviews have said Kathryn and Guy are welcoming and easy going hosts and it couldn't have been better

  • We were made to feel very welcome with thoughtful details like the tea and biscuits in the bedroom (which allowed us to recoup after the journey) making it feel that extra bit luxurious. The house is really beautiful with lots of art on the walls and interesting books on the bedroom shelves. The bathroom was so big and the house is so clean and decorated to really high standards all round. My son and I are both over 6ft, but the attic room is plenty spacious enough with beautiful views over Totnes. I would recommend this as a base for anyone wishing to explore the Dart Valley, Dartmoor etc We will definitely plan to return in the future. Thank you for welcoming us into your beautiful home. My place is close to nature and culture, including beautiful gardens & events at Dartington Hall, walks along the lovely River Dart, great food & real ale at thirteenth century Cott Inn and all things friendly, fascinating and funky in Totnes. Drive for just half an hour to reach the sea, Dartmoor and the cities of Exeter & Plymouth... A tranquil sanctuary awaits you in our secluded garden room, in a purpose built and fully insulated, double glazed and heated cabin with electricity and wi fi.
I look forward to welcoming you to our peaceful home in Dartington, where I live and work with my son and our two cats. We live in a private courtyard just off 'Hunters Moon' and everyone who visits comments on how light, tranquil and beautiful our little place is. With a deep interest in ecology, arts and spirituality, I've tried to make the space is as natural as possible with solid wood furniture, cotton bedding and a top quality mattress! I love art, books and plants... so you'll find lots of all three to enjoy in our space. Our garden room is in a purpose built, cosy wooden cabin in the garden with a double sofa bed featuring a very comfortable sprung mattress. It's easy to fold away each morning if you wish, to give you a living room to enjoy during the day. We created the cabin to welcome family and friends and it's fully insulated, double glazed and heated - so lovely all year round and has electricity and wifi. There's hanging space and a blanket box for storage plus a lovely bamboo desk & shelves (with interesting books) - perfect for writing or journalling. It's just a short step into the house for breakfast and to use the bathroom, which is sometimes shared with one other guest (as we also offer a single room in the house through a separate listing). The cabin has beautiful, big french doors opening into the garden and soaks up the sun in the afternoon and evening. There's a little outside table for your own use and personal patio area. The raspberry & strawberry bed is close by, so in July you can help yourself to add to your breakfast in the morning!
We live in a superb location in 'Hunters Moon' on the Totnes side of Dartington and from here you can walk into Totnes town or to the Dartington Estate and River Dart. Totnes is a fascinating community, whether you love history, nature, arts, ecology etc and the Sharpham Estate with its creative course & events is also nearby. Totnes is home to the Transition Movement and has everything from Buddhist centres to real Italian cafes! Dartington Hall has its own independent cinema, free access to lovely landscaped gardens and Estate walks, unusual places to shop, eat out and often talks, music & other events. It's also home to Schumacher College. Our local pub (just 5 minutes from the door) is the thirteenth century Cott Inn, recently voted in the top 30 best British pubs in Britain and has live music several nights a week and an outdoor kitchen. We also have a great local, artisan bakery within walking distance. Hunters Moon was an Edwardian Estate so has beautiful mature trees and shrubs, plus a modernist estate built by the Dartington Trust. In the unlikely event that you run out of things to enjoy in Dartington & Totnes, you can also go exploring further afield to the wilds of Dartmoor, the spectacular South Devon coast (including sandy beaches) or enjoy some city life in historic Exeter or Plymouth.

  • I ended up staying in a room in the house rather than the cabin as Sam had another longer booking for the cabin. That was fine with me. The room, bathroom and house were very clean with smart and comfy furnishings. Sam and her son were very welcoming and made me feel at home. Perfect for my one night stop over. The food at the Cott Inn was delicious.

  • Sam and her son Tam were very welcoming and it was easy to feel at home straight away. The cabin gets very toasty with the heating and it is very cosy and beautiful inside, with lovely wood furniture. The house and cabin are kept very clean. There was a great selection of teas, breads, spreads and cereal for breakfast. Sam was really helpful with questions I had about the area. Equally, they were very respectful of guest's space as well. I highly recommend staying here!

    Natalia2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is peaceful and very clean. Sam will do her best to make your feel at home and provide you what you need. If you fold up the sofa bed (which is very comfortable) you free up a lot more space in the cabin. A tranquil calm space to stay with a lovely host.

The Old Smythy is our charming grade 11 listed cottage set in the beautiful South Hams. The cottage feels cosy from the moment you walk in, especially when the woodburner is lit in the inglenook fireplace on any chilly night. It is located on left hand side up from Dartington if you get to the cott inn on the right then turn around there and go back down the narrow road a bit of a hill. The cottage is tucked into the hill.
There is a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and lounge with inglenook fireplace. Two double bedrooms and single bedroom plus bathroom. It has a bath and shower attachment but no walk in shower. There is access to the garden from the landing upstairs.
Dartington is a unique area with plenty to see on the door step. The Cider Press houses a range of shops from arts and crafts, toys and gardening. Great ice cream too. The Dartington Estate has some wonderful walks along and through the woods. Dartington Hall and gardens are splendid throughout the year with well known art works scattered around. There is easy access to the lovely town of Totnes with markets at the top of town on fridays and saturdays.
  • What a lovely country stay in Devon. Dartington is beautiful, as is the cottage. We loved our stay here. Penny was so warm and welcoming. My husband who is 6.4ft hit his head a lot, due to low ceilings and there was no shower which was a bit tricky. But the garden was glorious, the kitchen well catered for and the beds were comfy. I would definitely go back.

    Anna2016-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place for our stay - it was just around the corner from my sister's house. It was fun to stay in such a different property (my children were excited to explore it). It was beautifully decorated and there was a child's room with toys that kept my 2 entertained. We were very comfortable for our week's stay. The garden was lovely - I wish we had spent more time there but ended up exploring the local area. Thank you Penny for letting us stay in your lovely house!

    Leonie2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were very comfortable with plenty of space for the three of us. It was very quiet just as we'd wanted. The garden was lovely to sit in with good views. Everything worked perfectly and felt like home from home.

    Isabel2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Communication with Penny before and after our stay was excellent and even though we didn't meet her personally, we felt very welcome at the Old Smythy. Leaving us fresh bread, milk and eggs was a lovely touch. The property has 2 double bedrooms which is what we were looking for. It is very quaint and well equipped. We enjoyed the log burner in the evening. We didn't explore much of the local area but we did have a lovely meal at the old Cott Inn just up the road and a day out in Salcombe which was about 35 mins away.

    Jemma2016-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this house! Thanks so much for an easy, wonderful visit. Communication was excellent, despite the last minute booking. We were met by Penny's brother and partner who were lovely and very helpful with lots of suggestions for the area. It's really quite big for a cottage, easily sleeping a family or group of friends, spacious but also really cosy. Great local area, easy access to dartmore and the coast, plus nearby Totnes. The cott inn pub is just up the hill. Excellent facilities and very comfortable. A great way to spend new year. We will be back!

    Jess2016-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Host Penny made us feel exceptionally welcome from the first, with good e-mail communication, flexible timings and nice little touches, such as a loaf of bread and some jam, on arrival. The property was as described, nice and warm, and plenty of space. There are two double beds and a daybed with a pull-out bed underneath, so four people can have a bed each. Our only suggestions would be to fix a hook and a shower curtain so people can shower in the bath tub, also to post pictures of the bedrooms. We couldn't get the oven to work, and the mobile signal is a bit weak, but Penny had tried to get back to us about it, we just couldn't get through at the Smythy. Other than that, a very good location, to be highly recommended. Thanks, Penny, for a lovely short break. Caroline and friends.

  • Wonderful cottage within walking distance of the great Cott Inn. Very comfy and cosy with a real fire! Penny made us feel very welcome - I would really recommend her place.

  • Our four night stay at The Old Smythy was really relaxing from start to finish. Penny made us feel very welcome and left some lovely vases of freshly picked flowers around the house as well as providing fresh eggs, milk and bread. Chris (her brother) dropped in to check all was well and gave us some ideas for places to visit. The cottage is beautiful and full of character. It feels warm and loved and was exactly what we needed. Our daughter loved her bedroom and felt at home straight away. Her dad fell in love with the log burner and we had plenty of logs to see us through. The Cott Inn, just up the road, is beautiful and does good food. Dartington is in a great location - very close to quirky, pretty Totnes and within easy reach of the beautiful South Devon coast and Dartmoor. There is loads to do and see all around.

  • Marcea is a very warm-heart, kind and friendly person. What she provided me was not only an acommodation but also great hospitality as she made me feel at home from the moment we met . She showed me the town and the places which I was particularly interested in. Also, she drove me to show Darlington and we had a nice and cozy morning tea time together there. Her house is very close to Totnes town centre, just 5-minute walking distance, so an ideal place to stay!!! This time, I stayed with her only for 2 nights, but I definetaly woule like to go back and stay longer with her in the near future. Thank you very much, Marcea!!! You and Chris made my stay in Totnes so meaningful and gave me the fullest satisfaction.

Marcea is a very generous host, sharing a meal with me and spending time with me. She's also a really interesting person, and we had a lot in common to chat about over our shared meal.
