Nestled on a wooded hillside at the end of the road, our cabin is a light-filled, peaceful and cozy retreat. Two sleeping lofts are accessible by ladder stair above the living area. One loft has a double bed, and the other loft has two twin beds. In the colder months, a Jotul wood stove is your sole source of heat--we'll get the cabin toasty for you before your arrival, and you manage the wood stove to your comfort level during your stay. A kitchenette with bottled water (no running water), sink, small fridge, an induction cooktop, dishes, and cooking utensils is available if you prefer to prepare/eat meals in the cabin. A "state of the art" Swedish composting toilet provides the basic amenities in the cabin. Bed and bath linens are provided. Full bathing facilities are located just steps away in main house. The cabin has a private deck overlooking a small stream, a covered front porch, and full access to our gardens, woods and trails. Full access to our main house is just a short stroll through the gardens. These amenities include access to two full bathrooms (one with a large stall and rain-shower, the other with a deep soaking tub--we also have a lovely outside shower available during warm months). Cabin guests are welcome to use our well-supplied kitchen, living and dining areas, and grounds. A self-serve breakfast, which includes locally produced foods is also included in nightly rate. We are located 9 miles from the I-91/ I-89 interstate junction, within a short 20 minute drive to Dartmouth College/Hanover, NH, 20 minutes to Woodstock, VT, as well as many ski areas and local attractions. Driving times from Boston: 2.5 hours; NYC: 5 hours; Montreal: 3.5 hours. Public transportation from Boston, New York and Burlington/Montreal (trains and buses) are available to nearby White River Junction. You will need a car to get around, as much of Vermont and New Hampshire is rural with little to no public transportation. There are a number of rental car agencies nearby in West Lebanon, NH/White River Jct, VT. There are many restaurants within a short drive (15-30 minutes). Our open living/dining room area is naturally well lit with views across the valley and woodlands. Sited above the confluence of two streams, a large deck, screened porch and stone patios flank the southern side of the house, offering space for relaxing or working outdoors. High speed internet and wifi are available, but no television. We have 4 dogs: a friendly Corgi (our Concierge), a shy Great Pyrenees rescue, a sweet Norwegian Elkhound, and a friendly rescue Cockapoo mix. Our 2 rescue cats are mostly outdoors. Many wild birds visit our feeders year round. We have Icelandic chickens that free range and lay delicious eggs (sometimes it's a bit of an egg hunt to find them!), and Swedish ducks that keep our garden free of pests, and provide endless entertainment. In the summer, our house is surrounded by perennial and vegetable gardens, and a growing orchard on the hill above. Our property is adjacent to the Appalachian Trail Corridor and is contiguous with Land Trust and town forest, offering access right out our backdoor to miles and miles of trails for walking, hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing. Each season offers opportunities to glimpse wildlife and birds. We hope you will consider our home, Solheim ("sunhouse" in Norwegian) for a beautiful Vermont mountain retreat within easy driving distance of many northern New England attractions and activities year round.

  • We had such a relaxing weekend in the cabin! Alex and her family are wonderful hosts. They prepared breakfasts for us each morning (no small feat; we have a few food restrictions) and provided wonderful conversation. The cabin itself is perfectly cozy. We made simple dinners in the kitchen, and stoked the fire to our hearts' content.

  • Our whole family enjoyed our visit to Vermont and were made to feel so welcome by Alexandra. We were travelling with our three year-old twins and the Solheim Cabin was a huge hit with them. It was exactly as described more. Lots to explore in this area and we cherished our time there in the sunlight and the moonlight as well. The nearby Montshire Museum of Science was a kid-friendly indoor activity, but the great outdoors were the main attraction. Just lovely.

  • We so enjoyed our VT retreat this past weekend. It was everything we expected and more. It truly felt as though we were staying in our very own weekend place, with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed our breakfast time each morning with Martha and the other guests, hanging out with the dogs and cats, and watching the birds at the feeders, the ducks, chickens and goats. Each evening we stayed in, worked on puzzles and enjoyed a fire. We have already recommended to friends that if they're up your way, they should definitely stay.

    Ellen2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Martha and Alex were wonderful hosts. They have a very nice way of welcoming and integrating guests into their household, making it easy to "feel at home". Conversation was easy and interesting ... they're a great source of knowledge about the local area. Their farm is magical. I will look for an opportunity to return.

  • My daughter and I spent a wonderful few days at this cabin. Everything about our stay was super! The cabin itself is as cute as the pictures, very cozy and inviting. In fact, we decided just to hang out there one morning instead of traveling anywhere to enjoy the beautiful peace and quiet. Alexandra was a perfect host, welcoming us, helping us with suggestions for places to hike, and providing us great breakfasts and company each morning. We loved everything about our stay and look forward to returning again!

    Linda2014-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Alex and Martha were friendly, responsive and helpful and their place was just the quiet, comfortable getaway we were looking for!

  • Splendid location - just what we were looking for! Bob and family are friendly and helpful. Hope we can make it back and stay longer!

  • Bob's cabin was wonderful. It was perfect for getting away from it all and the stargazing was tremendous. On top of that, Bob was a wonderful host!

    Annie2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful weekend at Bob's cabin! Bob and his family were kind and accommodating hosts and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. The cabin is adorable and very cozy; the weather was cold but we kept warm with the space heater and electric blankets Bob provided. In addition to being offered the use of the kitchen and bathroom in the house, were also offered a room inside in case it got too cold for us to sleep outside. The area is scenic and beautiful, and we had a great dinner date in South Royalton (about 10 minutes away). I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and romantic weekend!

  • Bob's place in Vermont is amazing. The cabin is supercute and Bob makes you feel at home. I would recommend this airbnb to anyone who is in the neighborhood. Actually, I would even recommend it to people who are not in the neighborhood at all: both the place and the host are worth the travel!!

Private classic VT hillside home w/valley views. Swim, golf, play pool, hike, ski from your doorstep. Meticulously maintained, clean, comfortable 3br, 21/2ba,10rms w/Jacuzzi, steam, piano, patios, deck. Close to Hanover, Woodstock, B'ton, ski venues
Our home is casual and comfortable but very well appointed in every detail inside and out. I marvel at the natural beauty of our property and the house is designed to incorporate it with window walls that bring the outside in. My friends ask me how I can leave to go to work.
  • Beautiful house, very friendly and helpful host, amazing kitchen, fantastic for cooking, socializing, and enjoying nature.

  • Phil was great to work with and the property was stunning!

    Jacqueline2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The place is awesome! Phil & Mary were really really nice hosts! We arrived late on the rainy night, and they prepared paste and sauce for us in the kitchen to cook ourselves since they don't stay in the house. Rooms were pretty clean and tidy. There is also a pool table in the living room for us to relax. Then around 9PM, Mary called to check in to make sure that we arrived safely. When I woke up the next morning, I was amazed by the view outside the house! It's just gorgeous! It's cold but we couldn't help to walk outside to enjoy the beautiful view!! Around 9AM, Phil and Mary came to visit us and they were really nice to talk to. We walked around the small golf course and enjoyed the view together. I've stayed with many AirBnbs and this one by far is the best!!! There are too many things to talk about, but in a word, stop looking at other places and choose this! It's more than "awesome"! Note: * There is no cell phone service over there, or within 10 miles... (at least for me) * There is no blind in bathrooms. There is a reason for that: this is the only house sitting in the middle of "no where". It's totally fine for me(not for some of my friends though)

    Yang2014-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Phil and Mary were great at keeping in touch prior to our stay, and provided specific directions for accessing their house as it's in a remote area. They provided a pasta dinner the night of our arrival, and made our group of 6 feel so welcome as soon as we arrive. Bonnie was also there to greet us upon our arrival, as promised. Beautiful does not even begin to describe the house and grounds. The house is very tastefully decorated and is full of spots to sit and admire the special touches. The pictures on the wall in the downstairs bath really give you a great idea of the full lives that Phil and Mary have lead, and what kind of people they are. The bedrooms are great - especially the master. We made use of the spa tub, the rain shower and the outdoor shower off the master bedroom deck. The only thing we didn't fit in was a sit in the steam room. We spent most of our time on the patio off the family room - we enjoyed breakfast there, as well as afternoon and evening cocktails, admiring the beautiful view. The golf course - you really have to see it to appreciate it. A quick ride through the greens with stops to read all of the clever signs, and to appreciate the view from each different spot. Phil and Mary have not overlooked any special touches - there are so many little things they've thought of that make their home so special. The location is great for a quite time away, just don't expect much in the way of cell phone service. But you don't really want to spend time looking at your phone with such a view in front of you. The general store is less than a 10 minute drive in case you need any essentials; and there are surprisingly quite a few things to do within a short drive. We really enjoyed our stay, and are already talking about visiting again next summer. Next time we will stay longer though, in order to have plenty of time to really take part in all that the property has to offer.

    Jenny2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Phil and Mary's home is beautiful. The living room and kitchen are perfect for entertaining, relaxing and cooking. The view from the back porch is amazing, I can only imagine what it looks like during the summer. The pool table was a great amenity as well. The master bathroom is unbelievable, make sure you try the steam room!! Phil was also a great host and was always available if we had an issues or questions. would stay here again and recommend this house to my friends!

    Will2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Phil's house was amazing!! The room, the location, the view, everything was perfect!! Phil was very nice too. Definitely would recommend.

Be ready to unplug and relax. The house and grounds are peaceful. You will be enveloped in the sounds of nature: the wind in the pine trees, and bird song. The green palette of summer trees and field grasses is shifting over to fall. Pull out that book you haven't gotten to, or do the final edit on the novel you've been writing. Practice yoga in the grass. Bring your water colors. There are plenty of day trips that surround you if you want to get out and explore. Listing to come.
Charming, rustic & private setting, comfortable two-bedroom house in North Tunbridge, Vermont. Ten minute drive from South Royalton, VT. Forty minute drive from Barre, Barnard, Woodstock or Montpelier VT. Forty-five minute drive to Hanover, NH (Dartmouth).
Scenic country setting with great walking.
  • Susan was great! We loved her place and found it very warm, cozy and cute. It was a beautiful property, with clean linens, plenty of light and the most amazing tub/shower ever! There's a skylight over the tub! Tunbridge is a sleepy town, as are most of the towns in the area. Not a ton of activity going on, but that's kind of the point of a rental like this. One should note that there's currently no wi-fi internet access at the house, but we found that rather refreshing (we read a lot of books during our stay). All in all, a very pleasant experience and highly recommended!

    Justin2014-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • My colleague and I were holding a training 20 minutes away and stayed here for 6 days, including a weekend to relax. What a perfect retreat! The house has everything you need to cook a simple meal, work online, and prepare for a day of teaching. It also has everything you need to relax and refresh: beautiful setting, a clawfoot bathtub, and a comfortable living space. The bedrooms are simple and comfortable, the kitchen is well provisioned, and the living room is cozy. I would love to visit again some day.

  • What a great experience we had at the "secluded house on the hill". We are so glad we stayed there on our way from NH to Montreal. The house is great, the patio lovely. We went on several walks around the area and enjoyed driving around and visiting neighboring farms and South Royalton. Thank you Susan!

  • Nice secluded place but easy to get surrounding towns.

    Gregory2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • WOW! What an incredible place. The cabin was in a beautiful, quiet spot in the woods. It was a perfect and cozy cabin, a great place to curl up with a book or star-gaze outside at night. Susan was wonderful, helpful and very accommodating. We would definitely stay again!

    Rachel2013-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place! Really secluded, beautiful surroundings. Everything's provided. Spent two days here and really enjoyed it.

  • My wife and I had a wonderful time at this beautiful little house. The description is very accurate and this was a perfect place from which to explore Vermont. It's certainly secluded, but in the best way possible and it wasn't difficult to find. Susan provided detailed instructions and was very helpful and accommodating. The space was clean and uncluttered, and we felt comfortable the minute we arrived.

    Bjorn2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed this quiet, peaceful, and nicely appointed home. Easy access to town, but not too close - great place to get away from it all. Susan was easy to work with and everything was as advertised. Thanks for a great trip!

  • First of all they are great Host!!! From the time we checked in we were made felt like home. (We even got invited to a Haloween party :-)) We even had a puppy with us who was as comfortable as us. The location was just right next to a water stream and you cant miss the water sounds. Great place for the price.

  • These guys are amazing ..House was quite and clean ..Jim and Janet were super friendly enjoyed my stay there highly recommend

    Vikas2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful experience. Janet and Jim are lovely hosts, and their home is in an absolutely beautiful part of Vermont. In the morning Janet offered us some delicious fresh banana bread, and Jim drew us maps of the nearby sights. Cannot recommend enough!

    Theodore2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Janet and I had stayed in touch by text, so when I showed up at 11pm I just let myself in and found my way to the room. Janet and her husband came over to meet me a few minutes later and they made sure I was all set for the night and morning since I'd be out by 7am. Their place is really perfect in a Vermont kind of (URL HIDDEN) a cute little old house alongside a stream. Kind of idyllic. And the room and bed were all I needed for my short stay and they were perfect. They're both very warm, welcoming people, so if you find yourself in the middle of Vermont and need a place to stay, Janet's home might be just the place for you.

    Aaron2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • One of our best AirBNB experiences! Janet and Jim were very welcoming and hospitable. The location is situated essentially halfway between Stowe and Woodstock - perfect for visitors who want to see both places. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were so soft. Janet even baked us raspberry muffins and made us coffee in the morning. They went above and beyond. Highly recommended!

  • Ginny's and Chaz's place is a beautiful home in the county. But also not to far of the paved road. We had a great stay and would stay there again. A nice private room with a nice bathroom and good wifi.

    Veronika2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Ginny and Chas! Every minute of it. They are great hosts and make you feel right at home. Whether you want privacy or if you want a good conversation, no problem! The room is absolutely marvellous! It is almost your own apartment. Plenty of space in both bedroom and private bathroom. Including your own luxury bathtub. Breakfast was amazing. Al freshly made fruit and pastries. We were on a road trip and therefore could only stay for two nights, otherwise we would have stayed longer. Highly recommended!!

    Tino2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our time at Ginny and Chas' home was simply magical. They were unbelievably gracious hosts and extremely accommodating during our stay. Ginny and Chas offered many delicious homemade breakfast options and always had good ideas of places to visit. There home was impeccably clean and included many amenities like a bath tub! Overall, we had a beautiful time and would highly recommend this to anyone who would like a peaceful, relaxing and delicious getaway.

    Tara2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was amazing. Ginny is a very cordial and helpful host. I could not begin to do her breakfasts justice in this review - they are truly delicious and unique. We stayed with Ginny to go skiing in Killington and found the location to offer a great balance between proximity to Killington and peace and quiet.

    Robert2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our recent 3 day stay with Ginny and Chas could not have been any better. They were such warm and welcoming hosts from the moment we arrived right up until the morning we left. They served the most deliciously fresh homemade foods, starting with Ginny's thoughtfully crafted and delicious chocolate angel food surprise birthday cake which she adorned with her own fresh raspberries and mint leaves to Chas's homemade waffles and fresh fruit salad, and finally with a travel bag of fresh fruit and warm homemade muffins for our ride back to NJ. The accomodations were very comfortable for the 3 of us and both Ginny and Chas freely shared informaion with us about the area, giving us written directions to recommended venues and restuarants in the area, which was most helpful.

    Kathleen2016-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Ginny & Chas were phenomenal hosts. Their home is beautiful and the views outside of every window were stunning. Breakfast was heavenly and Chico & Ginger were the best furry hosts! Ginny & Chas provided great ideas, tips and suggestions. Can't wait to visit again, perhaps a winter trip. Thank you for being such an integral part of our memorable Vermont experience!

    Nikki2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Ginny and Chas were simply put, the consummate hosts to us during our stay. They were wonderfully patient and gracious with our late check-in and misbehaving dog (Sorry Chico!). At one point during our stay we ended up stuck in the snow and they even ventured out to try and rescue us. When we finally did get un-stuck, they welcomed us home with a hot meal that rivals any fine restaurant. We enjoyed many hours in the morning in their company, just chatting about anything and everything. Their home and hearts are as warm and beautiful as they appear - and I am still day dreaming about all the muffins and stollen we ate (and took with us in doggie bags!) We left feeling like we had made new friends and will definitely be making a return trip if they'll have us all!

    Becky2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful spot; remote, scenic, beautifully landscaped, quiet. The home is beautifully artistic and comfortable. Ginny and Chas were relaxed and wonderful hosts. The granola and ginger scones were superb, the room beautifully appointed and comfortable. The bathroom facilities private and above and beyond the expected!

Custom built home in the heart of the Green Mountains. Open concept filled with light, each window is a work of art. This is horse country, filled with beautiful vistas, sheep, cows, horses deer, turkeys, flowers and soft green mountains. The sixty four acres have blazed trails and a beautiful cascading brook. Drive through covered bridges to the house or Woodstock, Quechee, Hanover, N.H. Or just sit by the fire and look out the windows with coffee, tea or a glass of wine.

This cozy log cabin in Tunbridge Vermont is the perfect getaway for a family or a couples retreat. Nestled in the hills of central Vermont near the White River, the cabin is set back off a dirt road on 20 wooded acres with a large yard for playing.
The cabin is a nature lovers dream. Set back off a dirt road you can watch the deer at dusk and dawn, curious chipmunks, hovering hummingbirds, and probably the most oblivious turkeys in America, all wandering around nearby. You can pick apples off the apple trees in the fall and blackberries in the summer. At night enjoy the fire pit beneath a 30ft pine wrapped in christmas lights for an evening meal. Play bocce, or horseshoes, or take one of the bikes for a spin, or hike the land. Or perhaps just sit and slow the world down for a while.
The cabin is on the Tunbridge S. Royalton town line. In S. Royalton you will find a village green with an organic market, a several of restaurants, a diner, a laundry, and a couple of bars. The White river runs through it and is great for tubing, swimming, and fishing (with permits). If you go into Tunbridge you will find the World Agricultural Fair site and venture in to a pastoral setting that exemplifies Vermonts beautiful rural history.

  • It is a great place to get away. Yes you will travel to get there, but so worth it. It's a beautiful cabin, cozy, very comfortable and the trails are fantastic. Just pack your bags, bring your hiking boots and a good book to enjoy after your hike. You will not be disappointed coming to Calen's Cabin.

    Pat2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Calen is a great host. The cabin was well outfitted with games (board games and outdoor games, such as horseshoes). Fun hiking on his 20 acres in a beautiful part of Vermont. Kids had a blast playing Tetherball, and dog was in heaven running around.

    Scott2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful little place with great outdoor space. It's in the middle of the woods but not a far drive from plenty of larger places with tons to do. Absolutely fabulous vacation spot!

    Christina2015-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was such an amazing getaway. The propane stove which heats the home along with the quiet location made the Cabin perfect for a romantic winter stay in Vermont. The neighboring cabin on the property is adequately spaced away and does not compromise privacy whatsoever. The loft style structure is welcoming while still being perfectly cozy and a kitchen stocked with all the essentials makes dining in easy. The board games were a huge plus when we were snowed in one evening. We (along with our black lab) would love to return for another stay.

    Bradley + Ashlie2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is far more beautiful than the pictures convey. The property is private, peaceful, and rich. Hummingbirds, deer, robins, dragonflies. We especially enjoyed dusk, the fading light in the trees, and the swift bat that visited nearly every night, flitting through the air, eating mosquitos. Calen has created some well-marked trails that we ventured--the red trail is definitely a fun challenge! We had everything we needed to feel cozy and content and any issues were quickly addressed. I will concur with another reviewer who said a 4-wheel drive would be best for snow / icy conditions. Our summer visit included some heavy rains and the mud when we were driving up the mountain was a tiny bit of a challenge. If you come up Post Farm Road from Rte 14, make sure to stop by the farm there and pick up some fresh milk, eggs, and vegetables! Calen's cabin is perfect for anyone looking to unwind. The patch of sky at night is magical.

  • Beautiful, quiet, rustic yet comfortable. Just an amazing little cabin and exactly what we were looking for. Went tubing in the White River during the day and at night grilled outside with my dog. I would definitely rent it again.

    Tom2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The location is very nice, easy to get to Royalton, VT, with a few nice restaurants, yet very private. I would recommend having 4wd in the winter, as you are on dirt roads for about 10 minutes before getting to the cabin. Inside, the cabin was very clean and comfortable and plenty warm for the winter months. There are some nice trails to right out the door. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for some time away. Communicating with Calen was very easy, making it a seamless process.

  • We had a great time at Doc and Sara's place. We all slept like babies and the place has a super cool vibe. Upon arrival we were invited up to the main house for a bonfire. They are great hosts and make you feel at home. Can't wait for our next trip up there. I would highly recommend staying in the sugar house again.

    James2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at the Sugar House. The location was quiet, scenic, and isolated, with beautiful grounds and views of the mountains. We enjoyed exploring with our dog. The Sugar House was clean and pleasant. We brought our own water so we didn't bother with using the water pump in the kitchen area. And if you're wondering, the outhouse was actually kind of fun to use. When we arrived, there were fresh flowers to greet us. Doc provided us with plenty of information and was available in case we had any issues. We especially appreciated the pet-friendliness of this Airbnb. We would stay here again.

    Jeff2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place! Horses are visible from front windows. The view was amazing! Property is very well cared for! The outhouse is clean, but it is an outhouse, so be prepared. The place had everything you need. Coffee maker, dishes, stove, fridge, and pots and pans. Nice place!

    Jessica2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay in The Sugarhouse. Quiet, beautiful, and comfortable! Just 3 twin beds, which we didn't realize, so the 4 of us (2 couples) slept separately and one of us slept on the floor. No big deal for us but some might like to know. Sarah was very hospitable and the property is gorgeous! Highly recommend.

  • A great experience! House was beautiful, spotless, and so tastefully decorated - felt like we were the first guests to stay there! Surroundings and the views were storybook-like. Three families slept very comfortably - a place we will look forward to in the future. Barbara was super responsive - great peace of mind!

  • This house was perfect for our annual trip to Sharon/South Royalton, VT. Upon arrival, we were more than pleased to see that Barbara's home not only matched the description but took our breath away! The home was welcoming at felt like something out of a magazine. The grounds were secluded yet easy to access and provided our group with sweeping views of the mountains and rolling farmlands. Sitting out on the deck and near the fire pit allowed for quality bonding time surrounded by wonderful feels. We hope to rent this home again for next year's adventure. Thank you Barbara!!

  • This farmhouse is a gem! Everything you imagine an idyllic weekend in Vermont to be, and more. Our group of friends was in town for a wedding weekend so we didn't have as much downtime to enjoy the house as we wish we'd had because it really is a wonderful place to stay. Hope to be back soon!

  • This house was truly beautiful. We usually stay in a five star hotel when we travel so I have high standards, but this house exceeded my expectation. The house furnishings were tastefully decorated, and grounds had a million dollar view. I loved this place so much that I am already planning my return trip.

  • Beautiful off the beaten path property! Nice little trails through the property to explore. The wash house was a big plus - wonderful working showers, toilets and outlets.

  • Jinny's farm is remote but worth the drive. The accommodation are as described, primitive but in good order. The Wash House has clean facilities and plenty of hot water for showers. The views are spectacular. We bought fresh eggs and homemade jam that became part of breakfast cooked over an open fire near our cabin. Very peaceful.

    Mardi 2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • The area is wonderful. The cabin was nice, but rather simpel, poorly equiped. We had no sheets and other camping stuf, so we had to find an alternative for this booking. Jinny is a lovely person

Cozy country log cabin with all the comforts of home. Full kitchen, bath, livingroom with sat TV. Gas fireplace. Private. Surrounded by trees, view of mountains. Sits on a pond. Private trails to hike, shoe, ski. Discounted rates for weekly rentals of 6 to 7 nights. We do reserve the right to require a 2 night minimum during certain time periods.
  • Our time in the East Cabin was amazing! We were so pleased with the location in VT and the hospitality by Keith. The gas stove was a great addition for the cold Vermont weather. We hope to go back during the warmer months for full use of the pond. Thank you for everything, Lisa and Keith!

    Faye2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • An exquisite cabin in a beautiful setting. Well-appointed kitchen, comfortable bed, just two miles from town (which is really nice). A great home base for any Vermont vacation.

  • This is a great, quiet, and very clean cabin. One thing to note, the bedroom is accessed by a spiral staircase that some dogs might not want to walk up.

    Shaun2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's cabin was wonderful. My wife and I brought our 2 year old chocolate lab who took advantage of the private lake almost immediately. The lake is shared by the other cabin on the property but luckily for us the people staying didn't use it at all. The cabin is 20 minutes to Woodstock if you have the need for small town shopping and there is a hardware store that's about a 5 minute drive. Very quiet, very clean and comfortable.

    Leo2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is fantastic- the pictures don't really do it justice. Tons of privacy, beautiful views, and a short drive to Woodstock for shopping and dining or Killington for skiing. Lisa and Keith are great hosts. Everything we needed was at the cabin- pots, pans, utensils, fresh towels, and a very comfy bed. It really was a picture perfect winter weekend in Vermont- and we would love to return in the summer months to check it out again.

    Jeff2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first AirBnB experience, and it was amazing! The cabin immediately felt like home. The kitchen and the bathroom had everything you could need. The cabin is very clean and cozy. Very private and secluded- it's a great place to get away but still feel at home. Lots of land and even trails in the back. Keith was very helpful settling us into the cabin, and was available to text or call 24/7 if we needed anything. Would definitely come back, and would definitely recommend it.

    Chrissie2015-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place and hosts. It's just as described, and I wouldn't hesitate to visit again, maybe next time in warmer temps than -5! Even in those temps though, the cabin was warm and cozy, and we really loved our time there.

Built in 1800, this farmhouse style home is the quintessential Vermont getaway. It's within walking distance of the Old City Falls trailhead and swimming hole. It's about a half an hour from Dartmouth College and an hour and a half south of Burlington.
Strafford is a great small town community with many friendly faces.
  • Maddy's place was absolutely lovely! I cannot recommend staying with them enough. If you are looking for a true Vermont Getaway with a great host (we only met Maddy's husband because Maddy and her baby were out of town, but Willy was very nice!), comfortable bed, hot shower, & a quaint home with beautiful woodworking, no need to look anywhere else. Maddy was also extremely responsive, thoughtful about everything we could possibly need/want (voss water, heater, extra towels, etc.), and even left a wonderful note and snack basket for us. My boyfriend and I were visiting Dartmouth for homecoming and if we were ever back in the area, we would definitely stay with Maddy.

Randolph Center is a quiet neighborhood located just three miles from downtown Randolph. You can enjoy a leisurely walk or just sit on the deck and relax.
  • Mary's cottage is very comfortable and private. We enjoyed our two day stay because it is central to where we were visiting in Vermont. It's convenient to the interstate as well as the state's scenic highways. The house itself has a nice kitchen and a little deck overlooking a meadow.

    Randall2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Mary’s cottage is really comfy and cute to stay in !!! She was really available even late at night for any questions or worries ! The place was super clean and we had everything handed !! We would love to come back ! The only problem was that the GPS is directing us to an other direction so late at night it’s king of scary trying to find the house cause it’s all dark but if you follow Mary’s advices you’ll find it easily !

  • Charming space. Great views of nature. Downtown Randolph is very cute. The home had everything we needed and was a very comfortable place to stay with my family.

  • We didn't meet Mary in person, but everything went very well with the good communications with Mary. The house was absolutely gorgeous! Cozy and clean. Not far from the highway exit. We had a very nice stay there!

    Chih-Ying2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's place was very comfortable but our GPS took us to an address about 4 miles away, so follow her instructions to get there. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. We wish we had known ahead of time that there was no microwave and that the only fry pans were cast iron. We tend to cook a lot with a microwave and like omelets in the morning, which were difficult without no-stick pans. If you're OK with that, though, Mary's place is a nice AirBnB; feels like you're staying with accommodating friends.

I grew up here. You're staying in my family's old general store: the Valley View Variety. That wonderful octagon library, ancient cemetery, river branch and covered bridge were my hangouts. Check them out. You're not far from Randolph's Chandler Center for the Arts, Tunbridge Fairgrounds, farmer markets, fishing, swimming, cross country ski trails, snowmobiling and downhill slopes.

  • Nous n'avons pas rencontré Karmen, mais tout s'est très bien passé et la maison était conforme à nos attentes.

  • House is in a secluded location. No internet and no cell service. No way to lock the house (wasn't given a key). Some of my messages to Karmen weren't answered. About 45 minutes to Killington, about an hour to Okemo.

  • A nice historic house to stay in, for a rustic vacation. Only problem we had was NO WI-FI and very poor cellular reception, took us some time to get used to the being offline... Karmen made us feel very welcome by her attention to small details, such as the cold water in the fridge, the popcorn, coffe, hot choclate etc. Overall good value for money. Good base for visiting the white mountains and area. One person in our party loved the tranquility so much, he thought it was the best house we had stayed in during our vacation.

  • at just under an hour to Killington, this was a great stop for the night to break up the long drive from MA. A true country farmhouse, we felt very welcome and well accommodated. this was the exact kind of spot we needed for a snowboarding trip. our stay was brief and we had a quick yet restful stay.

    Ryan2017-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place and Bob is great. The house is a beautiful old farmhouse, and very clean. I loved my room. Bob cooked a delicious breakfast of blueberry pancakes and bacon. It was all quite charming, except for the fact that there was one bathroom for a dozen AirBnB guests and some of those guests were not terribly considerate of others. So I ended up waiting quite long periods of time to get into the bathroom, twice. This may be a problem only on a holiday weekend, as it was when I was there.

Perfect for the outdoor enthusiast or someone looking for a quiet summer retreat. In the Vermont countryside, surrounded by forest and farmland with a west running brook out the front door.
Whether you're looking for a writer's retreat, a romantic Vermont getaway, or a home base for outdoor adventures, the cabin is a perfect place to unwind. The size best accommodates a couple or friends who don't mind sharing a bed. There is also an air mattress for those who prefer their own space. The kitchen stocked with all cooking essentials. We love it here, and hope you will too.
Vermont is a rural state. Although it feels like you're in the country, there is always a neighbor close by. Our neighbor to the West is also our landlord. He built the cabin, and is available should you need any technical assistance. Our neighbor to the South hosts one of the best views in the area for watching the sun set. There is also a nice hike to the North that leads to a spectacular view of the Green Mountains. We are 15 minutes from South Royalton, home of Vermont Law School. We are 45 minutes from Hanover, NH, home of Dartmouth College. Montpelier is about 40 minutes away and Burlington is just over an hour away.
  • I cannot say enough good things about this perfect little cabin! It was spotless; had every cooking implement I needed; was cool in the shade; had comfortable sheets. It was isolated -- in a good way -- yet just a 12-minute drive to great restaurants and co-ops and farmers' markets. Hiking trails right out the backdoor and creek swimming a short drive away. Spectacular views driving in the area. Check in was a cinch. Amy & Paul were responsive and communicative. My husband and I each spent five days alone -- away from kids and each other. Best decision ever and best place to do it. Hoping to rent the Poet's Cabin again soon.

  • It was wonderful as always. And these guys took great care of me!

  • My husband and I really enjoyed our time at the Poet’s Cabin. Amy was our main contact and she was very easy to get in touch with and responded to our inquiries quickly. The cabin was quite easy to locate for being off the beaten path and had everything we needed for the weekend. There was a small market in a nearby town where we found plenty of food and refreshments for the weekend. The atmosphere around the cabin was so peaceful and picturesque. We enjoyed a relaxing dinner out on the porch and we even spotted a fox. And stargazing was beyond what we experience in Boston! A great place to stay if you are looking for a nice, quiet relaxing weekend.

  • The cabin and surrounding area are absolutely gorgeous. Communication from Amy and Paul was great and they were really quick to respond to any queries we had, even recommending local swimming spots. We had a wonderful time and only wished we could have stayed longer!

  • Amy and Paul could not have been better hosts. They were easily contactable and communication was flawless. Effortless check-in and out. The place was as described. I could not have asked for a better place for two weeks of tranquility and relaxation. In fact, I was quite sad to leave. Thank you, Amy and Paul.

  • This place is so fun, so Vermont, so pretty. It's on a lovely dirt road yet easy to find (even in the dark). The cabin is well built, surprisingly roomy and airy, and clean. You're surrounded by windows on all sides. It was actually somewhat magical to sit outside on the porch in the mornings with my laptop to check email. Even walking up the dirt road is beautiful. The bed (which isn't shown in the photos) and bedding were super comfortable. Although my husband and I both loved our stay here and the summer weather, we both think it would be really fun to stay here in the winter, too. Amy and Paul were excellent hosts - they sent us all the info we needed early on, were accessible by email/phone, and were just overall friendly.

  • Staying at the Poet's Cabin was a delight. While it is a simple, back- to-basics (except for the Wi-fi!) kind of place, it was exactly what we wanted- a peaceful, pleasant place to regroup and re-energize. The space is relatively small but doesn't feel cramped. There are lots of shelves and storage places so it is easy to stay organized. The bed upstairs is on a frame now so that was much nicer than the mattress on the floor pictured. The cabin was clean and well maintained. There are not a lot of things to see and do in the immediate area- it is very rural. We did, though, enjoy swimming in the river just outside of S. Royalton. Randolph is the closest town of any size and it was a nice place to visit and get groceries. We also enjoyed hiking a trail to a great view just out of the green in S. Royalton. We were greatly blessed to have had time here!

Whether you are a couple looking for the perfect romantic 'snowy' hideaway or a family looking for outdoor summer living, activity, and adventure, our Log Cabin is everything you could ever dream of.
Rural Log Cabin set at the edge of a woodlot managed for wildlife. Hammock down by the stream and trails for those interested in the forest.
  • Absolutely beautiful log home! Spectacular views! Wonderful experience! Looking forward to returning soon!

  • Beautiful cabin on the top of a hill, with a small cow pasture below. Trails in the woods behind the cabin. Space is VERY clean and plenty of room. We were just two, but would have been plenty of room for another couple or a few kids. Larry provided great communication before and during our stay. Our arrival was late at night, which was not a problem. Kitchen had all the amenities we needed. We were visiting family, but would be a great location for exploring central Vermont. Lovely porch and great view of the hills--wished we could have stayed longer!

  • I stayed at Claire's home during a trip to South Royalton visiting Vermont Law School and had a wonderful experience. Her home is warm, quiet and inviting, just as shown in the pictures and Claire is so sweet. Not to mention it was a nice walk (about 10-15minutes) to the school campus, local dining options and shops in town. I felt comfortable and very safe in this quiet green mountain area and would definitely come back for another visit!

  • Our host made us feel welcome and the bedroom we stayed in was spacious and comfortable. The location was perfect, we were able to easily walk to the town centre.

  • Claire was a delightful host, made coffee for me in the morning, told me where to hike and even gave me a goodbye present! The house was more than charming, a warm, lovely home, both beautiful and comfortable.

  • Claire was wonderful!! She made sure to communicate with me way before my arrival to ensure that I knew exactly where to park and how to get to her house from the airport. She was also very friendly and approachable and communicated with me frequently to make sure I had everything I needed. Even though I'm all the way from Los Angeles, Claire helped me feel right at home as if I were family. She was extremely accommodating and pleasant to talk to. The house was quaint and the bed was very comfortable! I had everything I needed, including plenty of outlets and WiFi access!!

We are situated on 13 secluded acres well off the beaten path. We built the log cabin ourselves with the timber off the land. Our cabin offers charming intimate spaces and itself is just like any cabin by definition; a small house or cottage, usually of simple design and construction, in a wild or remote area. The property has a nice, relaxing atmosphere with plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy, remote countryside to explore and beautiful views.
Hygge-Danish for simple, small pleasures that make life great. Warm and cozy, comfort foods and incorporating nature. Taking time to slow down, unplug and enjoy the company of friends and loved ones describes what we are about. The guest room known as the pineapple room is situated upstairs adjacent to the loft where my studio is located. Feel nestled in an antique pineapple bed with a comfortable full size mattress with flannel sheets, comforter and down pillows. Towels and wash clothes provided. Plenty of drawer and closet space for your personal belongings. Wall hooks to hang gear and extra items. Full bath is shared downstairs. It has a comfortable shower/soaking tub to ease aching muscles after a long day of outdoor activities.
We are well off the beaten path. The neighborhood consists of large parcels of land, seasonal homes, hunting camps and some parcels under land trusts. Most of us live a quiet, low key lifestyle. There are miles of dirt roads for biking and trails for country strolls. Brookfield is known for its Floating Bridge. Also enjoy a gourmet dinner at Ariel’s also located n Brookfield.
  • This place is absolutely breathtaking! It was exactly what we were looking for: a beautiful, peaceful retreat in the mountains away from the madness of the city. Our hosts Mark and Jyl were absolutely wonderful - they are as involved with your stay as you'd like. If you're looking for some guidance around the area, they make the best tour guides! They drove us around the mountains (huge plus that they had an AWD truck) and took us to the most scenic spots in the area - from hiking and seeking incredible views to having an authentic lunch at the local cafe and book store. They make breakfast for you automatically (and any other meal you'd like I'd imagine at just the cost of the food). Jyl is very knowledgeable in food and nutrition and eats very cleanly so she's very accommodating to dietary restrictions, sensitivities, and preferences. She is also an art/architectural connoisseur, and her husband Mark is also a jack of all trades, including a massage therapist. He took us out to the gazebo they have outside to enjoy some wine and smoke if you'd like, and he set up infrared lighting to keep us warm. They built a camp fire for us, made us homemade apple cider as well as gingerbread cake and brownies, and took us around the horse stable and farm part of their property, where they have horses, chickens and sheep - we even got to pick our own eggs for breakfast right from the chickens! The bedroom you rent is upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs, but they either stay out of your way or are very home-y and accommodating if that's what you choose. They have a beautiful dog and a few cats, very easy going. I could go on and on but it was a truly perfect vacation away from the hectic city, and we all felt like a family. They truly love their peaceful lives with nature and animals and health and share every part of it with love. I also personally think it was a very cheap price for how great everything was, and they could easily charge more; but the feeling is that they are sharing their slice of heaven with you, not trying to maximize a financial profit. The drive from NYC was quick and easy, their house is an easy path off the highway, and they were very attentive and not only responsive to our communication and questions but very proactive in sending us suggestions and asking for anything they could prepare for us ahead of time. Highly highly highly recommended!!

  • It was a great stay. We loved the house and our room. Jyl and Mark were very welcoming. They gave us great suggestions for hiking locations and scenic driving routes. Their dog and cats were friendly too. Breakfast was awesome, we even ate it in the gazebo. Jyl gave us very detailed driving directions before our stay, and we found our way without problems.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Jyl's for a winter weekend getaway from Boston, and it was everything we were looking for! Jyl and Mark are amazing hosts and we had a great time hanging out with them. Jyl's Sunday breakfast with Mark's homemade maple syrup was terrific. It's a very secluded, cozy house with the cutest puppy and three cats. Can't wait to go back for the other seasons!

  • Jyl is a great host. It was a very relaxing stay and I was allowed to make myself at home. This was my first airbnb stay; I hope my future airbnb stays are as good as this one!

    Lisa2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • You will find Jyl, with her dog and cats .... and horses in a beautiful and peaceful setting! The directions are easy with some dillegnce, don't just rely on GPS as it will send you up/down rabbit holes! With very good restaurants within 20 minutes and the very laid back and welcoming disposition of your hostess, you will find this hidden gem both rustic, warm and memorable! The pets are part of Jyl's life, so be warned, these furry friends will demand your attention also, I did not see the horses (I forgot to ask!)...... perhaps next time?!

    Glyn2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot in the middle of a forest. If you love animals I'd say it's a must, even just a day, they have them all. Friendly couple, very hospitable.

    Thijs2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cozy place. I do think people need to know that it is really remote. And once there, I do think people need to know that there is not much privacy. Your room is off the loft overlooking the living room. The one bathroom is shared with the hosts. To get to the bathroom you have to go past the living room and through the kitchen. Not something I anticipated. All said, the hosts were gracious and the stay was pleasant.

    Bob2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give Jyl & Mark (Sage, Cricket, Ruby, Jim, Bombay, Olympis & Sky) 10 stars I would do it! Me & my husband had so much fun. Thank you! If you're looking for a sweet escape from this crazy, busy life we live, this is the place to stay. Jyl & Mark were very helpful with everything we needed ( from recommendations to holistic medicine lol ). They made our stay as comfortable as possible. Their log cabin is 40min to an hour away from many bigger towns like Killington, Montpelier, Woodstock, Burlington etc. There are multiple hikes near the cabin with wonderful scenery. We can't wait to come back and definitely recommend it to everyone!

Our tipi is located in a field abundant with wildflowers up a gentle sloping hill from our house. There is a bathroom building located adjacent to the tipi that houses a composting toilet and a sink with cold running water. Our property is located in the beautiful town of Strafford, which is off the beaten path but has easy access to all that the mountains of eastern Vermont have to offer. We are close to the Hanover/Norwich/White River area and there are numerous places to hike, fish, swim, mountain bike and kayak nearby. Our town has a beautiful historic town house to be explored and there is a gorgeous waterfall 3 miles away from our home. Strafford is home to the historic Justin Morrill Homestead which offers tours of the buildings and gardens. A car is a necessity as much of Vermont and nearby New Hampshire are rural with very little or no public transportation. Driving times from Boston: 2.5 hours, NYC: 5hours and 3.5 hours to Montreal. The Stone Soup restaurant is located in Strafford and offers gourmet cuisine in an old blacksmith shop and is open Thursday to Sunday evenings with reservations and of note: does not accept credit cards. It is worth this minor inconvenience! Of note is that there is only one store that sells groceries in town: Coburn's General Store which closes at 6:30pm every night except Sunday when it closes at 1pm and is located 7 miles away. There are numerous restaurant choices in the greater Hanover/White River area and in South Royalton. Some folks find that due to the location of our land and tipi that once they arrive they prefer not to leave for meals, so bringing food that you can cook on our grills may be preferred. A walk from the tipi on fairly flat terrain leads you to a "walk in the woods" that meanders on a loop through beautiful hardwoods with chairs to rest or read a book or meditate in while listening to the babbling brook. It is short and flat and crosses the brook in three places and is a wonderful place to stop and reflect. We also have a fire circle outside that you are welcome to use. We have a friendly cat that lives at the house, and many hummingbirds and other wild birds. In the summer our house is surrounded by perennial flower gardens and an organic vegetable garden. There is no internet or wifi at the tipi, but it is available at the house. There is no television and cell service is poor to non existent. We do have a landline available for domestic calls. Our address is 148 Van Dyke Rd, Strafford, VT 05072. As cell service is very sketchy, we recommend that you save (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map directions to our phone so that you will not lose access to your directions, as we live remotely. Please do no rely on GPS directions, which may take you on non existent road and you may find yourself lost in the wilderness. Directions to ONOFRIO/CHUTE RESIDENCE DO NOT RELY ON GPS DIRECTIONS AS THEY MAY SEND YOU ON NON EXISTENT ROADS UP HERE! If you are coming on I-89, take Exit 2 (Sharon) and head towards Strafford, which is about 6 miles over the mountain. At the stop sign turn left. *Go approximately 2 miles into Strafford Village and take the right hand fork at the town green and travel towards Old City Falls Road, your next right. Turn RIGHT onto OLD CITY FALLS ROAD and go 2.5 miles to VAN DYKE ROAD (the next left after KENDALL ROAD). Turn LEFT ONTO VAN DYKE ROAD and go 1.5 miles. The road will wind and get smaller but just keep going and after a big field with a white farmhouse and barn it is ½ mile further ON THE RIGHT. Our mailbox with “ONOFRIO CHUTE” is across from our driveway. If you are coming from Norwich/Hanover just basically go straight the whole way from Dan and Whit’s, turning left at the triangle/stop sign in the road at Union Village and eventually you will come into South Strafford and will pass by Coburn’s General Store on your right. Continue on to the Stop Sign across from Barrett Memorial Hall (at the jct with Route 132) and then follow directions from the * above. My landline is ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Cell is ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Cell phones don’t work anywhere around Strafford unless you have wifi calling. If you get lost, just ask where we live, as pretty much everyone knows. • Anita and Mark showed us kindness and generosity every step of the way. The tranquility and beauty of the setting, the sweet attentiveness of our hosts in every way, and the unique opportunity to experience the tipi--within very reasonable access to activities in Hanover--all these very wonderful elements came together to make for a truly memorable family experience. I would love to be able to return sometime. I had created an impression in my mind of what it might be like to stay in this place based only on the photographs. The actual experience exceeded my expectations. We were enthralled by the canopy of stars at night, by the beautiful surrounding forest, by Anita's lovely gardens, by the kindness, thoughtfulness, and creativity of our hosts.

    Andrea2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Anita and Mark's place. Staying in the tipi was a unique experience. The tipi is very large and comfortable and is set on a beautiful meadow surrounded by forest trees. There is a fire pit in the tipi, which we lit up - a nice feature ! Anita was traveling, but we met Mark who was extremely helpful and friendly - he showed us around, called up to make dinner reservations in town for us and greeted us with breakfast in the morning. I would love to come back and recommend this place wholeheartedly.

    Mike2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • A stunningly beautiful spot on a hill with meadow paths leading up and the woods beyond. Anita and Mark were wonderful, warm and welcoming. The S'mores ingredients they left for us made for a wonderful campfire dessert in the Tipi despite a little rain. A lovely spot.

    Heidi2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time in this beautiful setting. Anita and Mark were the perfect hosts and we only wish we could have stayed longer!

    Tiffany2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the tipi was truly unique experience. Kids loved sleeping by the fire, roasting marshmallows, and playing outside. Anita and Mark are wonderful hosts. They set everything up at the tipi, provided beakfast in the morning, and even drove us to a pond for a swim. We would love to stay longer and will definitely plan to come back. Thank you!

    Ilya2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We ended our family vacation with one night at the Tipi.. It was the perfect combination of seclusion, quietness, and serenity. Mark was so accommodating with everything we needed. Highly recommend this for those who want to experience something a little different.

    Adam2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent directions and welcoming down to earth people!! Anita and Mark are truly lovely people with an awesome tipi, and with a welcoming friendly way that when we left we felt like family,

    Cindy2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Anita and Mark's place was absolutely incredible. Myself and two of my friends stayed in the tipi and it was adorable - both Anita and Mark provided plenty of blankets and extra toiletries if we needed them. In addition to that - there were supplies to make s'mores for the fire pit in the tipi! We were competing in an OCR at Killington Resort and they made sure we were comfortable the entire time (even after running up a mountain for 10 hours!). We enjoyed everything about our stay and we hope to come back next year and do some exploring in Anita's pottery shop!

Stay in a comfortable room in our farm family home. Scenery beyond compare. Enjoy a tour of our solar-powered maple sugarhouse, walk the woods and dirt roads, or visit the many attractions within easy driving distance. Mile and a half from Vermont Technical College.
Farm home, dirt road and trails through miles of woods, near interstate. Our family operates a solar-powered maple sugarhouse. Families with children can be accommodated, with fold-up cots.
  • My daughter and I loved staying at a family farm and being part of daily life on the farm. This was truly the highlight of our New England trip. Bette is warm and kind and gave us an incredible taste of life in Vermont. We helped feed the dairy cows, brought in fresh eggs for breakfast, walked the horse, gave the steers apples and went inside the maple syrup house for a tour. We had a great night sleep in the private room, but the shared bathroom was not very clean.

  • The farm and our host Bette were perfect. It was like being at home. And we really like that they are a working farm making organic Maple Syrup with solar power.

  • Bette's daughter Marilyn welcomed me upon arrival. Bette had sent me a message to let me know. They had a nice wood stove heating the entry room. Request the electric blanket for the bed. I slept very well with it, in the cozy bed. Bette and her grandchildren gave me a tour of the sugarhouse. Bring extra $ because you will want to buy maple syrup, cream, candies, etc! They are delicious and from a wonderful, friendly family. I was very tired from my quick trip, they were accommodating. And I had forgotten my coat, Bette let me borrow one. Thanks!

Bette is a wonderful host, made us feel welcome. She fixed pancakes for us and let us taste her own special maple syrup. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was acceptable, and her tour of their family maple syrup factory was a special bonus.

All you need to bring is your clothes and food that you want to cook. The host does offer to do grocery shopping for you prior to your arrival since the nearest market is 30-40 minutes away (Hannaford) with a $30.00 charge. My furry friend enjoyed the outdoor, ran around all day and enjoyed playing Frisbee with me in the open land. There is no reception at the house, but there is a home phone and WiFi if you need to stay connected with others. She has a drawer full of DVDs, and board games if you want to sit down and play with your significant other. The DVR is filled with recorded shows and TV shows, have your pick (catch up on Shameless!). Please print out the directions prior to arrival, there is no reception at least 20 minutes driving radius from the property. Whenever you leave the cabin, make sure you turn on your WiFi and use the cabin's internet to provide GPS to your destination... so that way you still have the map and directions working even if you lose internet service on your smartphone. If you plan to hike Mt. Moosilauke, please be advised to bring gloves, hat, jacket, plenty of water/food, and hiking shoes! What are you waiting for? BOOK NOW!

  • If you are even considering booking this cabin for your Vermont vacation do it! It is a great, quiet location with a beautiful pond. It is not too far to go to many touristy locations including the ben and jerrys factory, cabot cheese factory, and mount mannsfield to name just a few. In our nine day stay at the cabin we saw just about everything Vermont had to offer and made the small two hour drive to mount Washington. Michelle was great to deal with- very informative of the area and very quick to respond to any questions. I would definitely stay at this cabin again without hesitation and highly recommend it to anyone planning a vacation to Vermont.

  • Being our first Airbnb experience, I was not sure what to expect. But as soon as we arrived we knew that we had made the right decision in booking this place for our wedding anniversary trip. This cozy, secluded cabin was exactly what we needed. When we arrived at the cabin we walked in and were welcomed with a bunch of information about local hiking and attractions as well as a binder that had information about hiking trails nearby. Michelle was a wonderful host, she thought of anything anyone could possibly need! We would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from their everyday life and just enjoy what Vermont has to offer.

  • One of the best Airbnb’s I’ve stayed at! The cabin was quiet and secluded and the pond with the foliage was beautiful! There is a full kitchen and bathroom, as well as a bedroom and living room, and lots of outside space to explore and spend time! My favorite was using the fire pit by the pond at night, looking at the stars and listening to nature! The location is pretty rural but you can connect to WiFi and the nearest town is about a 25-30 minute ride (with great views!). This is definitely a great place to unwind and access many different parts of Vermont. I will definitely be back!

  • This was our first Airbnb experience and we were so impressed. Michelle was a phenomenal host and created such a wonderful environment for us. The cabin is certainly secluded and is a great place to get away. The Wifi was very helpful since there is no cell service. Make sure to plan your routes before you leave the house! Michelle had a very informative binder with all kinds of maps and brochures about the area. She recommended local restaurants to us and was very attentive without being intrusive. We felt as though we could reach out for anything at anytime. I would highly recommend booking this cabin and enjoying all that Vermont has to offer!

Beautiful two-bedroom apartment above garage, just renovated, available for renting the beginning of September. Apartment is located in the heart of Chelsea, a small town in central Vermont. Located at the Braman farm, renters are sure to have a great stay whether it be enjoying the beautiful views, planning a snowmobile getaway (connected to the VAST trail) or relaxing in the comfortable apartment.
Chelsea is home to a diner, a bar and a store. Chelsea is about 25 minutes south of Barre, 1 hour south of Burlington.
  • This place is huge, spotlessly clean and has beautiful views from every window of Vermont hills and pastures full of horses. The kitchen is bigger than some apartments I've lived in, and set up for serious cooking; this would be a great place to retreat, cook your own meals and do some undisturbed work. We didn't get a chance to use the balcony overlooking the views, but would have if we'd had more time and the weather were better. The jacuzzi tub is big, has endless hot water and is great for relaxing. There's a washer and dryer, dishwasher for cleaning all those dishes you used cooking, and full apartment heat for chilly mornings. As the description mentions the apartment is over the garage, although we only noticed the garage door opening once or twice, and no dog noise at all. The place is incredibly quiet and peaceful. Laurie are not as hands-on as other hosts, but greeted us on arrival, gave us a tour of the space and made sure we had everything we needed. They were close by and would have been available if we'd needed them. This is a beautiful area, and their apartment would be a great place to stay between leaf-viewings and touring the local villages and towns.

  • Amazing, quiet and wonderful experience on a beautiful farm. The hosts were accommodating and friendly and the place had everything one could need and more! Excellent - looking forward to coming back again! Thank you!

  • Laurie is a perfect host. She's taking care of her guests and her house is amazing. The rooms are bigger than it seems, and the horses are simply adorable. The flat is well maintained and super comfortable. We had a great stay. However, as peaceful as this place is, it is a bit far from the town and from shops. It is really on Vermont's country side.

A sunny studio apartment is attached to our home, with full kitchen, private entrance, and private bath. It has two twin beds, or a king bed on request. A washer, dryer, and sauna are available at no charge. We have extensive gardens on the grounds. Guests are invited to wander through them, and, in season, enjoy some of the harvest.
We're renting a studio apartment that has a kitchen and twin beds. (The twins can be made up as a king-sized bed if you give us advance notice.) The kitchen has a fridge, range, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and tea-making equipment. It is fully equipped for cooking and serving, but if we've forgotten anything, just ask. Our other listing, "Apartment in Vermont Countryside," at a slightly higher price, is the same studio plus an additional, separate single bedroom, balcony, and easy access to a sauna in colder weather.
Strafford is one of the prettiest and most-photographed villages in Vermont. We are about 15 minutes from Vermont Law School and 25 minutes from Dartmouth College. Horse events occur in Strafford at Huntington Farm and Tamarack Farm. We're a bit over an hour from Killington, the closest big downhill resort, but we're less than 45 minutes from the Dartmouth Skiway or Suicide Six. Also, the excellent new Strafford Nordic Center is only 5 - 10 minutes away.
  • Barbara and Wally were such accommodating and helpful hosts! Every interaction with them was very open and timely. We exchanged several messages before I arrived where they provided directions, tips on the most scenic routes, and recommendations for where to go along the way. Once there, we were able to check in at the most convenient time for us...Barbara showed us our cosy apartment, while Wally brought up some homemade maple syrup and pear butter. If he gives you a recommendation - like the maple syrup on Greek yogurt - do it! It was amazing and might have been our favorite food of the trip. There's no cell service (as described on the listing), but the wifi worked well. thanks so much for a great stay, Barbara and Wally, we truly enjoyed our stay!!

  • When you want to feel at home but leave your everyday Business behind you visit Barbara and Wally and their cute dogs in the lovely center of vermont. They always helped us with information about the region, sights and are open to good conversations furthermore! The Studio is nice and decorated with lots of interesting souvenirs from travelling... So expect a 100% marvelous Airbnb experience!

  • Wally and Barbara were extremely welcoming from the very first email (months before our actual trip) to our last goodbye on the day we left. Their location is a quiet bit of paradise in the woods. They gave us ideas on where to walk and what to see/do. We even borrowed a wrench from them to fix the refrigerator in our daughter's dorm room. We loved the eggs, yogurt, milk, orange juice, etc. that was in the refrigerator when we arrived. This was an amazing touch! This comfy studio really felt like home. This studio is new and extremely clean. We loved the games, movies, and CD's available to us. When we toured the local town, we saw Wally and Barbara riding their bicycle through the town with friends. They are truly part of the local community.

    Tracy2016-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wally & Barbara were welcoming and communicative from the acceptance of our booking. They kept in communication with clear directions, instructions and recommendations via email and phone and were eager to greet us and show us around when we arrived. The apt was well equipped for all your cooking needs and we found the space for 2, cozy and perfect! We enjoyed the plethora of books and even some videos available. Wifi was strong and we were able to use internet for our phones and computer as needed. The twin beds were put together to make a king per our request and it was a glorious nights sleep for my husband and I all weekend. Wally and Barbara were on call for anything we needed and went above and beyond to ensure we were able to check on weather conditions and local attractions as we planned our weekend. We fell in love with the area and we will be back! Highly recommend Wally and Barbara's comfy home in VT for a wonderful respite and retreat from home.

  • We had a great time staying at Wally & Barbara's. The place was super clean and very comfortable for me, my wife and our 7 month old daughter. We had a great time exploring the area, but we left plenty of Vermont unexplored for our next trip. We would absolutely consider staying here again, the experience was great.

  • We had a great stay at Barbara and Wally's. The studio was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. We really appreciated the snacks/breakfast items. Can't recommend this place enough. Thanks Barbara and Wally!

  • Barbara and Wally were very welcoming to me and my son. We were in Vermont for a family gathering for Thanksgiving and needed a place to sleep and refresh. It was perfect. The unit is well organized and appointed and equipped with all you need. The surrounding area is rural as you would imagine. I love Vermont and this did not disappoint. Would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to others.

    John2015-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Barb and Wally were so delightful and caring to me and my daughter. They kept track of when we would get there and welcomed us warmly even at 10 pm. They had breakfast items in the frig, such as milk, eggs, English muffins, even Greek yogurt and maple syrup which we enjoyed a lot. It was a half hour drive to get to Hanover and Lebanon where our business was everyday, but the drive was nice and relaxing and we did not mind it at all. The beds were comfy, and the bathroom had all essentials unlike other places where we had surprises of finding none! We were a little too warm the first night as it took a day to figure out the heating. My advice is, move the controls slowly, and give it time for the change to kick in. In summary, beautiful countryside, and property and great hosts.

  • Phil and Mary are consummate hosts. Accommodations exceeded our expectations and the hospitality was delightful. These are worldly folks who offer terrific conversation, consideration and humor. Their home is tasteful and immaculate. We could not recommend them more highly.

  • This place has very nice view. We do enjoy our stay.

    Preeyanan2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough good things about Phil's place! We loved everything about our stay! The view is absolutely enchanting!....some of my favorite pictures from our whole New England vacation were taken in Phil's back yard. Phil is a thoughtful and attentive host....you will feel like a welcomed guest. Be prepared....there isn't much close by from our experience. So eat before you get too close, and you are unlikely to have cell (URL HIDDEN) least with Verizon. Those are not complaints.....just FYI's. Your experience at Phil's place will more than make up for those slight inconveniences.

    Laura2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Phil is a very approachable, responsive and mindful host. At first, I was a bit nervous about our first experience with AirBnB, but Phil's mindful and kind communication: pre-arrival, during the stay and pre-departure (multiple exchanges! voice message, text and email) really made me and my husband feel at ease and helped us enjoy the stay. On top of that, WHAT A LOCATION! Such a breathtaking view of autumn-colored valley from the house, the garden, and the private golf course!! I envy Phil and his family... and future guests.

Strafford is a picturesque Vermont village. 25 min. to Dartmouth College and 15 min. to Vermont Law School. Our guesthouse is located in our backyard and is an easy walk to the general store and a quick drive to the Strafford Nordic Center. The town basketball and tennis courts are only a 5 min. walk. We have lots of local hiking trails and swimming holes. The guesthouse is a spacious, former art studio with a bedroom loft. Light-filled with long views down the river valley.
The kitchenette has microwave, toaster oven, hot plates, fridge, and coffee maker. The bedroom is an open loft.
  • Came here with my girlfriend for our anniversary. Exactly what we were looking for. Warm and spacious with a fireplace and scenic views. Would recommend for a winter getaway.

  • We needed a comfortable place to stay where we could bring our dog who is like a member if the family. If you are looking for privacy, gorgeous views, and a quiet and comfortable stay this is the place. We enjoyed sleeping in, making coffee, and taking morning walks along the quiet country lanes around Stafford. Highly recommended!

  • Tracey and her Guesthouse are wonderful. I visited to rest, rejuvenate and unplug, and succeeded on all accounts. I genuinely recommend staying if you have the opportunity. First a bit about Tracey. I arrived later than expected because of holiday traffic, so I called ahead to give a heads-up and ask for recommendations on where to find groceries. She could probably tell I was beat from the drive, so she kindly offered I have dinner with her and her family, which I gladly accepted, and it was amazing. I hope I don't set an expectation or precedent for future guests, but it certainly went above and beyond the call of duty, and it's a good illustration of how naturally empathetic, kind and inviting Tracey is. In the following days, she helped me plan a hike and map a cycling route. I couldn't have asked for a better host. And the guesthouse itself; I wish I could have stayed longer. It's certainly spacious, even cathedral-like. And it has a similar, healthy energy you might find in a cathedral. It's warm, simple and uncluttered, and I didn't find myself wanting anything. I read a book and a half during my visit, which sort of speaks for itself. Having the space and time to be able to read in that way is a rare treat, for which I'm very grateful. Thank you for being such fantastic hosts Tracey and family! Ryan

  • The Studio is a great space in an idyllic country setting. We were able to take our dog on vacation with us, which was such a special treat. Right in back of the Studio is a dirt road, fencing, and neighbors' fields; it basically feels like a countryside of bygone days. We loved hiking back there up to the knoll overlooking the entire village of (URL HIDDEN) scenic! The general store is a few minutes' walk and is a great place to pick up Strafford Organic Ice Cream (Maple highly recommended. Yum.). Near the general store is Hattie's - a classic, no-frills, friendly folk meeting spot where everyone knows everyone. Great place to grab breakfast! Be sure to visit Worthy Burger in nearby Royalton. Tracey was great in communication, directions, and was very welcoming to us. Thanks for a wonderful birthday stay!
