Cannot miss a sunset by the sea, Livorno offers many lovely places to enjoy an aperitivo by the sea as well as good restaurants where you can taste the typical fish dish called "cacciucco". The neighborhood called "La Venezia" maintains some ancient buildings and narrow channels, the comparison with Venice is a bit hazardous but you won't be disappointed if you go looking for a lively less sopthisticated version of it.
At home there is a list of restaurants I recommend and lovely places for "aperitivo".

To my point of view it's the most typical restaurant and a true experience you cannot miss visiting Livorno.
Good food, friendly staff and more than reasonable price.
It is not possible to book a table in advance but, while waiting, you'll be offered a glass of wine. You will most probably seat at the table with other people, always with a very friendly approach.
