Food Scene

The delicious brick oven pizza, fresh salads and easy going atmosphere has made this local restaurant a regular for us! It has a nice breakfast menu but can also be good for a nice dinner with a peroni from the tap next to your pizza. It's on the corner of Frishman and Shlomo Hamelech.

The Bakery, or as we like to call it, "Bake", has the best pastries in town, as the line every Friday morning might imply. They have the best french pastry in town, for sure - Jambon, profiteroles, macaroons, dreamy fruit tartletes... grabbing one of these and sitting in Rabin square with a coffee is the perfect Friday morning hangout!

Chef Eyal Shani's famous street food joint is one of the most popular tlv has seen in recent years, and it's not just because of his celeb status - the crazy noise and jumpy atmosphere welcome you, and soon enough you will receive your dream inside a pita - delish veggies or savory meat with excellent and unique flavor combos. They have another place on Ibn Gvirol, but I prefer this one for the atmosphere. A perfect place to end a day of strolling the shops in Dizengoff / King George streets.

This place had been around for maybe 20 years, and it still has people lining up on weekends for a table. It's a classic french bistro, a bit on the pricier side, but it has never let us down! try the pork rib or the sinta (beef steak with brandy and cream sauce). And the brunch on weekends is a good deal, try the fantastic croque madame or the excellent pancakes and get a bread basket, a cocktail and a coffee included in the price.

Probably the best sushi in town. It's not cheap, but worth every shekel.

Drinks & Nightlife

Small and cozy with live jazz trios almost every night, with no or a very small entrance fee. You should look up the show times and arrive on time or a bit before to get a good seat; otherwise, enjoy a beer in the back with the music accompanying your night.

This place would define itself a restaurant I suppose, but come night time and it's more of a bar / beer garden. Good atmosphere to sit and have a chat over a glass of beer.

The Ozen Bar belongs to the Iconic record shop HaOzen HaShlishit, or "The Third Ear", and it has various live gigs, and also parties. Easy going atmosphere, and I've seen some excellent shows there by local musicians.

One of the coolest and oldest joints for live music in Tel Aviv. The bar upstairs is also nice for pre-drinks.

Parks & Nature

This is our favorite beach spot, it's usually quiet and relaxed. There are water sports on the left lagoon which are fun to watch, and the hill over it is the best picnic spot in town.

Arts & Culture

There are some very nice art collections and they usually have good exhibitions. It's definitely worth a visit. For lunch I'd check out Heder Ochel nearby.

Entertainment & Activities

Lev tries to be the more 'quality' cinema house in Israel, and they usually are, but going to a movie there does not gurantee its quality. They do showcase some local films, but make sure to check if those would have English subtitles (sadly the might not...)

Getting Around

For most destinations, you don't need to drag yourself all the way to the central bus station in south Tel Aviv; this bus terminal has buses going to many to other cities, including the 480 line to Jerusalem (which is preferred over the train, as it's a longer journey and it doesn't take you to the center. They're now working on new train tracks to fix this). The adjacent "Tel Aviv Sabidor-Merkaz" train station can take you to Haifa and Beer Sheva quite quickly and without traffic.
