A simple boat ride from the back of our house, is all you need to reach the resplendent Ponnumthuruth Island. The name itself translates to 'Golden Island' because it is rumoured that the queens of the Travancore Royal Family used to hide gold and other precious ornaments here.
Go here to escape the dull routine of daily life and embrace the languorous lifestyle of the locals. Located amidst coconut groves, over a century old and adored by all visitors, is the historic Shiva Parvathi Temple. Another fun fact is that the entire island is actually temple property, under the purview of our own family trust.
