Whole Foods is the largest and best market closest to the house. It's at the north end of the hip and lively Temescal neighborhood and an easy walk or bike ride.

Gotta love TJ's. This one is right near Rockridge BART, just one stop from MacArthur station. It's an easy bike ride and a short Uber/Lyft ride. Excellent products at excellent prices.

this is my favorite local restaurant. top notch italian/california cuisine! owners have a couple really successful restaurants in the Bay Area. seasonal salads and delicious pizza in a cozy and fab atmosphere. mmmm that crust.

Hummus, tabbouli, kebab, babaganoush, falafel, baklava = heaven. You sit around a small horseshoe bar, they give you free lentil soup to start with. This is a tiny, hidden place and totally worth it.

Closest BART train station. I recommend getting a Clipper card for your visit, which is the way to pay for all public transportation in the Bay Area and will make getting around much easier. You can download the Clipper app to your phone.

You can take the ferry to SF from here. Fantastic views! Costs about $5 and takes 30 minutes. There are also a lot of bars and seafood restaurants, a bowling alley and special events like outdoor movie nights and craft markets.
