Sleepy restaurant by day, nonstop lounge by night, Tropical Grill is a very interesting spot on an otherwise uninteresting stretch of Rockaway Blvd heading to JFK. Afternoons are a great time to come here to sample the kitchen's wonderful food, including this fish pepper soup, ranking high on the list of top spicy dishes. Try Nigerian beers as well and fall into the slow-paced rhythm of a West African afternoon at the bar. Or bring a group after midnight for bottle service and see if you can score a seat in the VIP area.

Magic Soul Food has the best baked chicken. Most of the food is good but some of the prices a little high. Service can be a little slow but the people are usually nice.

The best soul food in NYC. The food portions are ridiculous. It's take out only. But you definitely get your bang for the buck. Good luck finding parking there's no parking lot adjacent to this restaurant. And don't go on Sundays or the line will be out the door especially after church lets out.

Beautiful gem... They have many things to do in the summer for the kids like movie night under the stars.... The lake is absolutely stunning and a great healthy walk... I would say go to Rockaway Fish House near to there for some great soul food and have a picnic in the park.... Great date night
