Getting around with public transport
In case you need to use a bus, metro, train and/or tram you will need a ticket (surprise!). You can get your ticket at every metro, train or tram station within the city. There are multiple options such as one-way ticket, 10-ticket pack, 3-day (tourist) pack, etc. Instructions on the issuing spots are pretty detailed. Keep in mind that every ticket is valid for 90 minutes after the first validation on the check points. P.S. If you are travelling by plane, the ticket fare from the airport to the city is sliglty bigger. I would suggest once on the airport, to buy your ticket for the transfer to the main city and also get your prefered ticket pack.

Local tip: For those coffee lovers out there (I am one of them) try the 'Freddo Espresso" or "Freddo Capuccino" - famous iced coffee. I 've travelled a lot but nowhere in Europe have I found a place to make a proper iced coffee like this!
Superfly is a humble café with a retro vibe and funky décor. You can play old-school computer games while sipping on a coffee, beer or cocktail. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and cool music will quickly make you feel at home.

Whether you are here for a coffee or drinks at night (though it will be better for you to come early to score some seats), Chelsea is a hot hangout spot in the neighborhood, ideal for people-watching.

The Goulandris Natural History Museum was founded in 1965 by Angelos and Niki Goulandris in order to promote the interest for natural sciences and it is housed at a beautiful building at the area of Kifissia. From its foundation until the present days it is a model for creating an awareness to the public and protecting –mainly– endangered species. So, if you are excited by the world of plants and animals, a visit here is necessary. It possesses exhibition areas that deal with Botany, Entomology, Hydrobiology, Geology, Herpetology, Ornithology and Paleontology. I 've made this list with some of my favorite places in the city :) I apologize for being so long but honestly there are so many places to go. On a good note most of them are near to each other!

The green hill behind the Panathenaic Stadium whose foothills were crossed by the river Ilissus took its name from Ardettus, an ancient Athenian who resolved the differences between Athenians, and was the sacred site where the jurors took their oaths. There were important monuments on the hill like the Sanctuary of Tyche and the tomb of Herodes Atticus. Climbing to Ardettus with the paths among the pine trees is a rewarding experience due to the nature and the unique view to the city.

Vasileos KonstantinouThe green hill behind the Panathenaic Stadium whose foothills were crossed by the river Ilissus took its name from Ardettus, an ancient Athenian who resolved the differences between Athenians, and was the sacred site where the jurors took their oaths. There were important monuments on the hill like the Sanctuary of Tyche and the tomb of Herodes Atticus. Climbing to Ardettus with the paths among the pine trees is a rewarding experience due to the nature and the unique view to the city.

At Spata of Attica is one of the largest zoological parks of the Balkans. It hosts the largest collection of birds in the world, a lot of serpents, rare animals of Greece and Africa, all in specially shaped areas that resemble their natural environment.
Visit the area where the monkeys wander around free, as well as the area with the dolphins. The park is open daily from morning to sunset.

Water dominates with 5 artificial small lakes providing a refuge to aquatic organisms but also birds that are observed by the Hellenic Ornithological Society. The park with its rich flora and fauna is a unique place of natural beauty and an ideal destination for strolls, hiking, bicycle rides and pick nicks.
