The awe inspiring Marble Church with the characteristic copper green dome has to be one of the most impressive churches of the city. The church lies beautifully in line with Amalienborg castle and The Opera in the middle of the elegant area of Frederiksstaden. In fact the official name of the church is Frederik's Church. The Marble Church has an interesting story. Presided by King Frederik V the foundation stone was laid in 1749 as part of a grand plan of making a new city district called Frederiksstaden.

At Langelinje Pier you will find one of Copenhagen's most famous tourist attractions: The sculpture of The Little Mermaid. 23 August 2013 she turned 100 years old. Unveiled on 23 August 1913, The Little Mermaid was a gift from Danish brewer Carl Jacobsen to the City of Copenhagen. The sculpture is made of bronze and granite and was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale about a mermaid who gives up everything to be united with a young, handsome prince on land. Every morning and evening she swims to the surface from the bottom of the sea and, perched on her rock in the water, she stares longingly towards the shore hoping to catch a glimpse of her beloved prince.

Amalienborg Palace is a must for anyone with a taste for royal history and the life of Denmark’s royal family who still resides inside the palace. Experience royal history at the museum and sense the present of one of the world's oldest monarchies from the beautiful palace square where you can watch the changing of the guards. Changing of The Royal Guard Amalienborg is famous for its Royal Guard, called Den Kongelige Livgarde. Every day you can experience the changing of the guards, as they march from their barracks in 100 Gothersgade by Rosenborg Castle through the streets of Copenhagen and end up at Amalienborg, where the changing of the guard takes place at 12:00 noon. Surrounding the palace square with its statue of King Frederik V from 1771, Amalienborg is made up of four identical buildings. These are Christian VII’s Palace (also known as Moltke's Palace, used as guest residence), Frederik VIII’s Palace (also known as Brockdorff’s Palace, home of the Crown Prince family), Christian IX’s Palace (also known as Schack’s Palace, home of the Queen) and Christian VIII’s Palace (also known as Levetzau' Palace, used as guest palace for Prince Joachim and Princess Benedikte). It’s in this building you’ll find Amalienborg Museum. Visit the museum and experience royal life past and present Amalienborg Museum presents the private interiors of the most recent kings and queens and an exhibit on the monarchy today with its many traditions. The scope of the museum stretches back 150 years to Christian IX and Queen Louise, who were known as "the in-laws of Europe" because four of their children ascended to the thrones of England, Greece, Russia and Denmark respectively. As in a journey through time, the rooms of Christian IX, Queen Louise and their descendants stand intact. Each reflects the modern taste of its period and the personalities of the kings and queens, whether it is in military, Victorian, or knightly style. TRAVEL TIP: With a Copenhagen Card in hand you get free admission to Amalienborg and over 80 attractions as well as free public transportation in the whole capital region. The large garden room offers an insight into royal life and the monarchy in the 21st century. Royal life entails many duties and traditions, and there is plenty of opportunity to explore them and gain an understanding of what it means to be royal today. On most days, there is admittance to the Gala Hall and the other magnificent rooms on the Piano Nobile. The royal reception rooms are still used by the royal family for representative purposes. Children are guided by signs designed to meet their needs and engage them.

Denmark's National Museum in Copenhagen has exhibitions from the Stone Age, the Viking Age, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and Modern Danish History. The National Museum is located in The Prince’s Palace, built in 1743-44. It is no longer used by the royal family, but the Great Hall still appears elegant enough to fit princes and princesses. The Gallery consists of a wide corridor that linked rooms and sleeping quarters, and featured plenty of space for exquisite handicrafts. The stucco in the ceiling, the panels and the oak parquet floor are all thought to be original. The furniture and stove are from the early 18th century. Permanent collections The National Museum boasts a very large ethnographical collection, a collection of classical and near eastern antiquities, a coin- and medal collection, and a toy museum. You can also visit the Victorian apartment Klunkehjemmet, practically unchanged since 1890. Please note that it has different opening hours. After years of reconstruction, the exhibition on Danish Antiquity has re-opened, including prominent national treasures such as the more than 3,000 years old Sun Chariot, the Bronze Age Egtved Girl, and an amazing collection of archaeological finds from the Viking Age, many of which have never been shown at the exhibition before. Another intriguing must-see is the Huldremose Woman, whose well-preserved remains are estimated to date back to the first decade of the first century AD.

The minute the sun comes out, the vast area around the lakes fills up with strolling couples, panting joggers, brunch devotees, kids feeding the ducks, and best friends sipping thermos coffee while taking in the best views of the city. Pixie is located in a quiet side-street off busy Østerbrogade. BOPA Square offers peace and quiet, tall trees, and several cafés with outdoor seating. The café is named after miniature-sized childrens' books. The décor is refreshingly different: durable plastic furniture and eye-catching bright colours. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. This is a great place for sharing a bottle of wine in good company.

Copenhagen's most hyped burger joint for a reason. This former gas station now burger joint close to Kgs. Nytorv in central Copenhagen is one of or even THE winner of the burger war happening in Copenhagen these years. At least one thing the roadside burger has been winning is the hearts of Copenhagen's most picky hamburger enthusiast. That's even with a simple menu and only a couple of seats at two outside tables.
