Outdoor sports eg cycling and hiking

It's a great little village of 700 inhabitants at the base of the Tramuntana mountains on the main route to the famous monastery of Lluc. It is in a UNESCO heritage location with stunning mountains views great for hiking and cycling. It also has plenty of conveniences for travellers such as a couple of grocery stores, really good restaurants, bars and a huge municipal swimming pool. Popular fiestas are in August and November.

Food scene

Really fantastic restaurant for special occasions run by a Caimari family. They create tasting menus only using local seasonal ingredients. Not recommended for very small children but our teenagers absolutely love it. Birthday treat kind of a place.

Famous cycling cafe which specialises in vegan and gluten free food and drinks. Staff are very friendly and they sell great cycling gear too. Meat and dairy also served! Only trouble is, Sa Ruta Verde is closed in August and from November to the beginning of March :(

Cafe and restaurant at the local municipal swimming pool in Caimari. Open all day and very popular with the locals for large groups, birthday celebrations and special occasions. It's a good idea to book ahead if you want paella or have a big group and they buy to order. Municipal swimming doesn't sound great, but it is a fantastic place with a huge lane pool and a separate large shallow pool for kids. They also have a tennis court and the prices are very reasonable. The location is stunning, surrounded by the Tramuntana mountains.

Wonderful food in the next door village of Selva. They also have a tapas bar in the municipal market in Inca. You must book several weeks ahead to get a table it's so popular - and rightly so!

Sightseeing

A huge monastery where you can camp, swim, stay, eat, barbecue, picnic, hike and cycle! Oh and you can look around the monastery too which is now used as a school. It even has a botanical garden. The location is stunning high in the Tramuntana mountains and the drive (or walk or cycle) to and from is spectacular.
