Great, homemade Italian dinners, craft beers, delicious wine, friendly service and also great pizza! They also have great breakfast, I enjoyed the huevos rancheros but everything else passing by looked great too. This is a great stop to the beginning or the end of the day on your mountain adventures!

Entertainment

Located in Nederland, Colorado, the nonprofit Carousel of Happiness is a magical menagerie featuring 56 whimsical, hand-carved animals on a restored 1910 Looff carousel, turning to the music of a 1913 Wurlitzer band organ. Our facility is open year-round, and as part of the Carousel’s values to be respectful and inclusive, we are an accessible destination for people with disabilities and a demonstration of green, energy-saving technologies. We welcome anyone and everyone to come experience the Carousel of Happiness for themselves! Come experience this unique, participatory piece of folk art and become a part of its living history. Owing its creation to local sculptor Scott Harrison and to the generosity of thousands of donors and visitors inspired by his work, the Carousel is multi-generational, nostalgic and new — an experience of simple joy for people of all ages!

The Estes Park Aerial Tramway was designed and built by Robert Heron. Mr. Heron became involved with tramway during World War Two. The 10th Mountain Division contracted the engineering company Mr. Heron worked for to design a portable tramway for use in Italy and Germany. The task was assigned to Mr. Heron. A book entitled “The Tramway Builders”, by Philip A. Lunday and Charles M. Hampton gives the history about these tramways and the men who built them. After the war Mr. Heron traveled to Europe to study the tramways and became more fascinated with their design and capabilities. Because of the steep terrain, many trams in Europe do not require any towers to support the wire ropes. The entire length is a free span between the bottom and the top stations. The Estes Park Aerial Tramway utilizes this design. A free span is fairly uncommon in the United States and this type of design affords a very smooth ride. Mr. Heron also became one of the pioneering chair lift builders for the United States ski industry and built the first double chair lift in this country. The Estes Park Aerial Tramway opened to the public in July, 1955. Since then it has safely carried more than 3 million people to the summit of Prospect Mountain. The tramway is still owned and operated by the Heron family. May 25th to September 2nd Open 9 am-6pm daily

This is so close to our property for a hike with a creek and waterfall along the way. The Middle Saint Vrain Creek is a good fly-fishing stream where anglers cast for rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout. Many trails in the vicinity are open to hiking and biking, including Sourdough and Buchanan Pass trails. The Indian Peaks Wilderness boundary is four miles from the west end of the campground. Mountain biking is allowed on the first five miles of Buchanan Pass Trail. Bikers can ride a loop from Peaceful Valley or Camp Dick, via Buchanan Pass Trail and Middle Saint Vrain Road, or Coney Cutoff and Coney Creek Roads and Sourdough Trail. The Middle Saint Vrain and Bunce School roads are popular among off-road vehicle enthusiasts. This site will close early this year, September 2, due to bridge reconstruction
