Quaint and Quiet (ish) Bar/Restaurant

Neighborhood hangouts, more restaurant than bar, but still really cool bar. No live music (or not regularly), historic buildings.
Small neighborhood bar with good food and outdoor dining. Pets welcome at sidewalk tables. Also has takeout beer and adult slushees.

Not walking distance from the house but worth the 15 minute drive. Super cute English pub in the center of Lititz which is basically as cool as Lancaster, only smaller. Tellus360 is my favorite bar but Bullshead comes in a very close 2nd.

Basically the restaurant version of our house - it’s an old carriage house with a pretty cool old fashioned cocktail bar and good food: tenderloin tips on toast.

Not So Quiet Bar/Restaurant

No crazy or roucous, just louder / busier / newer than the Quiet Bars.
Awesome new venue that’s basically a small / local Dave & Busters. Bowling, skeeball, small ball hoops, old school pinball and classic 80’s arcade games like Asteroids, PacMan, Frogger, etc. Atmosphere is really cool and food is excellent too.

A mini complex with a casual Mexican restaurant (Cocina Mexicana), a casual beerbar (Columbia Kettle Works 2nd Gear), and a slightly less casual larger restaurant and distillery (the namesake Zoetropolis). Also home to Zoetropolis Art House which is an indie movie theater with full bar. Cool interior and exterior courtyard.

Super cool building and good beer. Also has a taproom on W King St. long At location walkable, and technically Hazel St location is too - but access is via some not great parts of town so I’d suggest bike or car. Food menu is unusual, but I’m picky so what do I know.

Nightlife

Has something for everyone (sort of). My favorite place to hang out. 5 bars within 1 bar if that makes sense. Some loud/dancing, some quiet and reserved, most somewhere in between but depends on the night. At least one of those bars, if not more than one - has live music every night. Awesomely unique interior, huge year round roof deck and in summer with food truck type eating options, and a must see ‘secret’ Speakeasy in the basement. Not really a ‘restaurant’ but they do have food.

I have a huge weakness for these things. Regular sticky, warm, to die for. About a 10 minute drive East towards outlets.

Errand type good to know places

Places that are for more like ‘house keeping’ (need milk for cereal, wanna grab a 6 pack or bottle of wine, where can I get broccoli without going all the way to the grocery store, etc).

Such a cool walk that I’m probably not supposed to tell you about it. But it’s not easy to get there so you might never find it anyway. About a 2 mile beautifully wooded walk along/in/out/through a meandering creek leading out to the shoreline of the Susquehanna River. Your feet will get wet. Dog friendly.

Trailhead about 20 minute drive West. Walkable but we prefer biking it. Borrow our bikes and head out for a nice ride along the Susquehanna River. Also a good place to rent kayaks and paddle across a rocky / safely shallow part of the Susquehanna to the John Wright Restaurant for lunch. Then paddle back.

Great place to walk the dog off leash or just take in some City nature. My favorite is the Horse Trail (around a large bend in the creek so it’s almost a circle). Or find the covered bridge and wander around that area.
